• How can I get the name of the namespace from a SOAP message?

  Hi I have a SOAP message (see below). Using Xpath, how can I extract the name of the namespace from this message? In other words, is there an Xpath routine that will return the text "validateNewOrder"? Any suggestions or help would be invaluable. I have been searching everywhere but not found an solution. It is driving me crazy... • Opening a Unicode file with Perl

  I'm using osql to run several sql scripts against a database and then I need to look at the results file to check if any errors occurred. The problem is that perl doesn't seem to like the fact that the results files are unicode. I wrote a little test script to test it and the output comes out all warbled. $file = shift; open OUTPUT, $file or die "Can't open $file: $!\n"; while (<OUTPUT>) { print $_; if (/Invalid|invalid|Cannot|cannot/) { push(@invalids, $file); print "invalid file - $inputfile - schedule for retry\n"; last; } } Any ideas? I've tried decoding using decode_utf8 but it makes no difference. I've also tried to set the encoding when opening the file. I think the problem might be that osql puts the result file in UTF-16 format, but I'm not sure. When I open the file in textpad it just tells me 'Unicode'. Edit: Using perl v5.8.8

• Is the order of params important in NHibernate?

  If I have an int parameter followed by a string parameter in a sproc I get the following error: Input string was not in the correct format However, if I switch those parameters in the sproc than I get the result set I expect. Are params sorted by data type, or do I have to do anything special in my config file?   I create a simple webapp using tomcat 6, spring 2.5.6 and maven. The problem is when I boot up tomcat, I am getting the following errors: SEVERE: StandardWrapper.Throwable java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/springframework/ui/ModelMap ... Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.springframework.ui.ModelMap The ModelMap class does exist in spring-2.5.6.jar and spring-context-2.5.6.jar, I also have some other spring jars. All of them are being deployed to tomcat correctly, when I check the application WEB-INF (deployed to tomcat) I found all those jars there! I have only one @Controller that has a @RequestMapping("/home.htm") showForm(ModelMap model) method. • pdfmark for docinfo metadata in pdf is not accepting accented characters in Keywords or Subject

  I am inserting metadata into postscript files with a program, to be distilled to pdf with Adobe Distiller. I am using this code that I grabbed from Thomas Merz's "Web Publishing with Acrobat-PDF": /pdfmark where {pop} {userdict /pdfmark /cleartomark load put} ifelse [ /Title (mot accenté) /Author (mot accenté) /Subject (mot accenté) /Keywords (mot accenté) /DOCINFO pdfmark When you look at the metadata, the accented characters turn into "?" in the Subject and Keyword fields, but not the Title and Author fields. The characters are the same ascii 233 I tried replacing them with octal encoding (\351), which came out the same (Title and Author okay, Subject and Keywords messed up). file encoding is latin-1,unix eol I found a mention on adobe forums, but the answer didn't make sense to me. http://forums.adobe.com/message/1165593 I changed the encoding to utf-8, inserted the characters binarily (in VIM : <Ctrl-v>u00e9), no change. I tried inserting the BOM in a few places, it didn't work. This is with Acrobat Pro 9 I didn't notice this problem with Acrobat Pro 7. Does anybody know of a workaround to get the accented characters into ALL the metadata fields when modifying a postscript file, or tell me if I'm doing it wrong? It seems weird that different fields would not accept the same bytes.

• How can we serialize a class that is not a custom class of our own?

  I need to look at the properties of an object and I cannot instantiate this object in the proper state on my dev machine. I need my client to run some code on her machine, serialize the object in question to disk and then I can analyze the file. Here is the class I want to serialize. • sending mail in rails from tutorial - outdated?

  I'm trying to use this tutorial (http://www.tutorialspoint.com/ruby-on-rails-2.1/rails-send-emails.htm) to send mail on rails, but nothing seems to happen. I have ActionMailer::Base.delivery_method = :sendmail in my environment.rb. It's possible the tutorial may be out of date for the more recent version of rails? If so can someone tell me where it goes wrong or a link to another tutorial. I see this in the log. It's a little supsicious that the "to" has subject and stuff appended to it, but I don't know where it went wrong. • Mac vs. Windows Browser Font Height Rendering Issue

  I'm using a custom font and the @font-face tag. In Windows, everything looks great, regardless of whether it's Firefox, Chrome, or IE. On Mac, it's a different story. For some reason, the Mac font renderer thinks the font is a lot shorter than it is. • Flex: How to access movieclips within an imported swf

  Hello, I have imported a swf (not created with Flex, i.e. non-framework) into a Flex application. Once loaded, I would like to access movieclips within that imported swf. Looking at Adobe's docs (http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=controls_15.html), it seems straightforward; however, their examples are between a Flex app and an imported swf (created with Flex). Like their example, I'm trying to use the SystemManager to access the imported swf's content; however, I receive the following error: TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.display::MovieClip@58ca241 to mx.managers.SystemManager. Is this error occurring because I'm importing a non-framework swf into a framework swf? Thanks in advance for any assistance. How could I count how many "file" ELEMENTS I have (count them before entering the foreach ofc) and read their attributes ? I need the count because it will be used to update the progress bar. Overall it is not reading my xml very well.

  I already implemented to create the XML file below with XmlTextWriter when application initialization. And know I don't know how to update the childNode id value with XmlDocument & XmlNode. Is there some property to update the id value?   I've never written any tests in my life, but I'd like to start writing tests for my Django projects. I've read some articles about tests and decided to try to write some tests for an extremely simple Django app or a start. • hint and textview with right gravity and a singleline

  I've opened a bug but i was wondering if anyone encountered this issue and knows a workaround. If you define a text view with a hint inside it, give it right gravity (android:gravity="right") then if you define android:singleLine=true or android:maxLines="1" or android:scrollHorizonatally="true" you don't see the hint. removing the right gravity returns the hint to the left side, removing all the tree params i mentioned above puts the hint on the right side. i want my hint on the right, but i need a single horizontal line... here's the sample layout that doesn't show the hint: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:padding="5dp"> <EditText android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_gravity="center_vertical|right" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_margin="6dp" android:textSize="16sp" android:paddingRight="5dp" android:id="@+id/c" android:gravity="right" android:hint="hello!!!" android:scrollHorizontally="true" android:maxLines="1" android:singleLine="true"/> </LinearLayout> i checked on 1.6 and 2.1 emulators and it reproduces 100%, i'm prettysure it's a bug, i don't see the connection between single line and the hint.... what's more the hint got it's own layout in the TextView (mLayout and mHintLayout both exists, in onDraw if the text length is 0 mHintLayout if mHint is not null is used).

• Foreign/accented characters in sql query

  I'm using Java and Spring's JdbcTemplate class to build an SQL query in Java that queries a Postgres database. However, I'm having trouble executing queries that contain foreign/accented characters. For example the (trimmed) code: JdbcTemplate select = new JdbcTemplate( postgresDatabase ); String query = "SELECT id FROM province WHERE name = 'Ontario';"; Integer id = select.queryForObject( query, Integer.class ); will retrieve the province id, but if instead I did name = 'Québec' then the query fails to return any results (this value is in the database so the problem isn't that it's missing). I believe the source of the problem is that the database I am required to use has the default client encoding set to SQL_ASCII, which according to this prevents automatic character set conversions. (The Java environments encoding is set to 'UTF-8' while I'm told the database uses 'LATIN1' / 'ISO-8859-1') I was able to manually indicate the encoding when the resultSets contained values with foreign characters as a solution to a previous problem with a similar nature. Ex: String provinceName = new String ( resultSet.getBytes( "name" ), "ISO-8859-1" ); But now that the foreign characters are part of the query itself this approach hasn't been successful. (I suppose since the query has to be saved in a String before being executed anyway, breaking it down into bytes and then changing the encoding only muddles the characters further.) Is there a way around this without having to change the properties of the database or reconstruct it? PostScript: I found this function on StackOverflow when making up a title, it didn't seem to work (I might not have used it correctly, but even if it did work it doesn't seem like it could be the best solution.):

I guess there must be a problem with python-mysql. Can anyone help? UPDATE OK, python-mysql under windows is a bit of a nightmare, particularly with Python 2.6 it seems. Rather than installing python-mysql with pip, use this installer instead. That fixed it.
