Hi All,
I have to show the time taken for a service call in Perfmon from my ASP.Net application. For this, I have added a stopwatch which starts at the service call start and stops at service call stop. Now I have a custom counter which user AverageTimer32 to log the stopwatch values to Perfmon. My question is, how can I show the service names on the Perfmon graph. I am using windows XP (I know windows server perfmon has some fancy stuff).
I'm wanting to programmatically monitor the cache size on a certain ASP.NET site. This is basically for the administration portion of a product, where we allow users to partially control whether their site uses caching or not.
Is there a way to do this. Should I be using the ManagementScope object to perform this query?
What's the best ASP.NET MVC based blog engine out there which is ready to deploy? I am guessing there are no MVC blog engines which are comparable with WebForms based blog engines like dasBlog, BlogEngine and subText? I think Oxite is a dead end and Orchid is more like a CMS.
Looking for an engine which can do these:
- RSS feeds support
- anti comment spam functionality like support for Akismet
- comment post approval support
- Some kind of theming is possible
please explain how to get high capacity architectures with both the default asp.net web forms and mvc models with regard to being able to serve millions of page views.
i want to know how to set up each model from DB clustering, to caching, logical/ physical tiers, load balancing iis servers, scaling out or up, session state management and so on...
is one more scalable than the other?
thanks all.
Ive managed to get asp.net mvc up and running on an iis6 server, but I keep getting silly messages like 'System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHelper' does not contain a definition for 'RenderPartial'
I've got all the required dlls and even installed mvc from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c9ba1fe1-3ba8-439a-9e21-def90a8615a9&displaylang=en
any clues about what Im missing?
Cheers
I have an embedded database in an asp.net mvc project. If I try to write to the file, I sometimes get a write failed exception because the SQL Server can't write to the file. How can I check an ObjectContext, if its writeable, without actually writing something to the database?
Tried to test .net4rc1 site on test host with win2003. As expected by default server returned error about " targetFramework="4.0" in web.config. But since I switched ASP.NET version to 4.0 and reboot that site just returning 404.
Whats wrong?)
I want to migrate users and posts from an existing forum I am using to a ASP.NET membership table without using CreateUser. Basically I want to maintain userIDs so that when I migrate posts they continue to associate with the correct users. Is there a way to do this or would I be better off just using CreateUser and then finding a way to re-assign the post-by-UserIDs to the correct new IDs?
Thanks
I send asynchronous call using jQuery form plugin and in the case of success want to redirect user to some "success-page". Now my ASP.NET MVC action just returns some special "success-JSON" and the user is redirected using Javascript.
Is there any way to implement automatic redirect (without Javascript call)?
I wish to execute a javascript function after asp.net postback with out using ajax.
I've tried the following in my even method with no luck:
Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(GetType(), "ShowPopup", "showCheckOutPopIn('Livraison',556);");
Can you recommend a tool that can analyze a SQL database table, read the table columns, and populate an .aspx page with appropriate controls (i.e. textboxes with matching labels)?
See this demo of ComponentOne InputPanel for WinForms for the functionality desired.
Are there any built-in tools for ASP.NET 2.0 WebForms that can help build a scaffold page for any given database table or entity?
Are there any free components out there to help achieve this goal?
I'm building my first ASP.NET MVC website, and I'm trying to figure out how to implement a 404 page.
Should I create a controller called "404Controller?" If so, how do I then register this Controller with IIS so that it redirects 404s to that page? Also, in a situation where something is not found (in the database, for example) by some other Controller code, how would I redirect the request to my 404 page?
Hello,
HttpContext.Current.Request.IsLocal is not available in Global.Asax/Application_Start (Request is not available in the context).
How else could I safely determine if my ASP.NET MVC application is started locally or not?
This is to rewrite my web.config conditionally (depending on whether the application is deployed (remote) or in testing (local)).
Thank you!
I am still trying to figure out the right architecture for a complex ASP.NET MVC web application.
I looked in a lot of example code and everywhere it's done differently.
I would really appreciate your thoughts on this.
Another Question: Would you use Linq to SQL or the Entity Framework?
Thanks,
-Ben
In ASP.NET MVC, how to get the page content before render, we know in Web form app, we can override the method
protected override void Render(HtmlTextWriter writer)
to get the page content before render.
but in MVC there are no event concept, so how we can get the page content. the purpose for that is to emphasize(wrap <strong> tag) the keywords before the page rendered.
I'd appreciate for any advice. Thank you.
I realise it's vry soon after launching, but I'm keen to develop website in 4.0, but obviously need a host.
If there are none hosting 4.0 yet, any one aware of timescales.
UK hosts needed.
edit:
I would like to use GREEN HOSTING, so anyone aware of UK host supporting .net 4.0 using green energy!
Thanks
Hi there,
Is the asp.net membership system used over wcf (transport security turned on) enough for high security internet scenarios with thousands of clients spread all over the internet?
I'm just evaluating possible solutions and wanted to know if this might fit in this category.
If not, what would be the best method to provide high security access over wcf for internet scenarios?
Hi, I have a framework 2.0 asp.net website, I want to change it's framework version to 3.5. Is it possible to do this manually from web.config file? I don't want to change from visual studio property pages. I need to change from web.config, what should I do?
My requirement is to create an Enum based on values present in a table from DB. I am using ADO.NET Entity Framework model (.edmx file), Can any one of you help me out...
Thanks,
Vinni
I've decided to take the suggestion from Robert Harvey on this site and build an application using ASP.Net MVC.
When I went to Bing for a brief overview, I saw there was an MVC2.
What is the difference and should I care?
I'm looking to have a livechat service integrated within a site where I can create chat rooms on the fly based on participants tied to that specific area... Anyone recommend using a 3rd party service I can install on the server that integrated easily with .NET, or just build one using polling method? I'd like something with socket connection, but not sure what's out there that either cheap or free that I can use.
I would like to add tabs for my website and I understand I can use the tab control in the AJAX toolkit or I can choose to go with JQuery UI tabs. Each tab would need to load a separate asp.net page and I need to customize the tabs to look slick.
Any thoughts on what approach I can use?
ASP.NET profile properties are trivially available to the code-behind of an ASPX web page courtesy of the HttpContext.Current.Profile object.
In a .svc web service, how does one bring ProfileCommon and paraphernalia into scope?
