  • Performance difference in for loop condition?

    Hello all, I have a simple question that I am posing mostly for my curiousity. What are the differences between these two lines of code? (in C++) for(int i = 0; i < N, N > 0; i++) for(int i = 0; i < N && N > 0; i++) The selection of the conditions is completely arbitrary, I'm just interested in the differences between , and &&. I'm not a beginner to coding by any means, but I've never bothered with the comma operator. Are there performance/behavior differences or is it purely aesthetic? One last note, I know there are bigger performance fish to fry than a conditional operator, but I'm just curious. Indulge me. Edit Thanks for your answers. It turns out the code that prompted this question had misused the comma operator in the way I've described. I wondered what the difference was and why it wasn't a && operator, but it was just written incorrectly. I didn't think anything was wrong with it because it worked just fine. Thanks for straightening me out.

If I remove the [t] and replace with a number (1,2,3,4,etc), the validation works on the appropriate fields. What am I doing wrong?

    I have a form with lots of inputs. I want to get each id and value and then put them in $.load method. I tried this: $("#form input").each(function() { var name = $(this).attr("id"); var value = $(this).attr("value"); $.extend(params, { name, value }); }); and then use $.load("script.php", params); But obviously it doesn't work. In params I have only one element "name". And I'm not sure I should use extend method too.

    This question is related to BuddyPress, and a follow-up question from this question I have a .csv-file with 790 rows and 3 columns where the first column is the group name, second is the group description and last (third) the slug. Is there a way to make it render the sub-template for each iteration? Edit: stranger yet, if caching is enabled for the sub-template, it renders for each iteration—but, of course, the arguments on the embed tag aren't passed to subsequent iterations, as the sub-template is cached.

This is the only area where the variable is getting used, so is there a reason to set it to something else? 4: Same question as 3. I'm sorry if this is a terrible question, but its been bothering me, and I really want to know WHY it works. Well, I understand why it works, I guess I just want to know more specifically.     I've read that one of the key beliefs of Python is that flat nested. However, if I have several variables counting up, what is the alternative to multiple for loops? My code is for counting grid sums and goes as follows: def horizontal(): for x in range(20): for y in range(17): temp = grid[x][y: y + 4] sum = 1 for n in temp: sum += int(n) return sum This seems to me like it is too heavily nested. Firstly, what is considered to many nested loops in Python ( I have certainly seen 2 nested loops before). Secondly, if this is too heavily nested, what is an alternative way to write this code?

    I have an HTML table that I need to populate with the values grabbed from a select statement. The table cols are populated by an array (0,1,2,3). Each of the results from the query will contain a row 'GATE' with a value of (0-3), but there will not be any predictability to those results. One query could pull 4 rows with 'GATE' values of 0,1,2,3, the next query could pull two rows with values of 1 & 2, or 1 & 3. I need to be able to populate this HTML table with values that correspond. For example one is 'time of day' and I'm matching for similarity so 'very early morning' is close to 'late evening', you can't just make it a linear scale from 'very early morning' at one end to 'late evening' at the other. How can I represent this in the data model? Is there an established way to handle this or a way to work around it?

I can use the same Drupal installation to all my needs and choose to filter the stuff I may want to make publicly available. * Important : 1) Private items must not be accessible even if anonymous users guess its URL; 2) Private item must not show up if anonymous user perform a search; 3) Private content must not be indexed by search engines; 4) Private items should show up if I perform a search while being logged in.
