  • Iterating ListView items in Android

    - by pocoa
    I want to iterate a list of items into a ListView. This code below is not enough to iterate all the items into the list because of the weird behaviour of getChildCount() function which only returns the visible item count. for (int i = 0; i < list.getChildCount(); i++) { item = (View)list.getChildAt(i); product = (Product)item.getTag(); // make some visual changes if product.id == someProductId } My screen displays 7 results and when there are more than 7 items into the list, it's not possible to access to the 8th item or so.. Only visible items.. Should I use ListIterator instead? Thanks.

  • How do I use the orientationchange in jQuery Mobile when working with height?

    - by stucktryingtofigurethisout
    In jQuery Mobile, I am trying to adjust the height of an image to the height of the window. The height of the window depends on the orientation of the device, but I found out that whenever I change the orientation, the height of the window that is plugged into the expressions for the height of the image is the height of the window BEFORE the orientation change! So, how do I make it so it picks up the height of the window AFTER the orientation change and then uses this new value to adjust the image height? For the code I have $(window).bind('orientationchange',function(e){ if(window.orientation == 0) { $('img').css('width') = $(window).height()*.5; } else { $('img').css('width') = $(window).height()*.6; } });

  • Mongoose Not Creating Indexes

    - by wintzer
    I have been trying all afternoon to get my node.js application to create MongoDB indexes properly. I am using the Mongoose ODM and in my schema definition below I have the username field set to a unique index. The collection and document all get created properly, it's just the indexes that aren't working. All the documentation says that the ensureIndex command should be run at startup to create any indexes, but none are being made. I'm using MongoLab for hosting if that matters. I have also repeatedly dropped the collection. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. var schemaUser = new mongoose.Schema({ username: {type: String, index: { unique: true }, required: true}, hash: String, created: {type: Date, default: Date.now} }, { collection:'Users' }); var User = mongoose.model('Users', schemaUser); var newUser = new Users({username:'wintzer'}) newUser.save(function(err) { if (err) console.log(err); });

  • C++ -- return x,y; The point?

    - by Earlz
    Hello, I have been programming in C and C++ for a few years and now I'm taking a college course in it and our book had a function like this int foo(){ int x=0; int y=20; return x,y; //y is always returned } I have never seen such syntax. In fact, I never see the , operator used outside of parameter lists. If y is always returned though, then what is the point? Is there a case where a return statement would need to be created like this? (Also, I tagged C as well because it applies to both, though my book specifically is C++)

  • return char1 + char2? Isn't it possible?

    - by pocoa
    I'm trying to return a string from a function. Which basically adds some chars together and return the string representation. string toString() { char c1, c2, c3; // some code here return c1 + c2; // Error: invalid conversion from `char' to `const char*' } it is possible to return boolean values like return c1 == 'x'. Isn't it possible to return string values? I know that it is possible to it like this: string result; result.append(c1, c2); return result; I'm new to C++ so I thought that there must be more elegant solution around.

  • Mouse move and thread

    - by bsebi
    When I move the mouse over the window, the program runs much faster (cc. 3 times). This is a real time webcam .Net/Mono application running on a MacBook. On Windows works perfect. Is this maybe a power saving function of the laptop? The code: Thread t = new Thread(Foo); t.Priority = ThreadPriority.Highest; // I've tried without priority too, doesn't matter t.Start(); ... void Foo() { while (true) { ++k; // then write k to the window somehow } }

  • How to convert an arbitrary object to String with EL? (calling toString())

    - by hstoerr
    Is there any way to call toString() on an object with the EL? (I need the String representation of an enum as index in a map in a JSP EL expression.) I hoped something like ${''+object} would work like in java, but EL isn't that nice, and there does not seem to be any function that does it. Clarification: I have a variable somemap that maps Strings to Strings, and I have a variable someenum that is an enumeration. I'd like to do something like ${somemap[someenum.toString()]}. (Of course .toString() does not work, but what does?)

  • Do superfluous calls to addEventListenter("event", thisSpecificFunction) waste resources?

    - by Richard Haven
    I have ItemRenderers that need to listen for events. When they hear an event (and when data changes), they dispatch an event with their current data value. As item renderers are reused, each of them is going to add its callback in set data(value...)and pass the callback function in the event as well as the current data value. So, the listener of the item renderer's bubbling event will set someEventDispatcher.addEventListener("someEvent", itemRendererEvent.callbackListener). This will happen more than once. Does setting the same event listener on the same event for the same dispatcher waste resources? Does the displatcher see that it already has the listener?

  • VBA long overflow

    - by HK_CH
    Hi I am trying to do some maths with my VBA excel (prime factorization) and I am hitting the limit of the long data type (runtime error 6 Overflow). Is there any way to get around this and still stay within VBA? (I am aware that the obvious one would be to use another more appropriate programming language) Thanks for help in advance! Thank you, it works in so far that I am able to get the big numbers into the variables now. However when I try to apply the MOD function (bignumber MOD 2 for example) it still fails with error message runtime error 6 Overflow.

  • How can you pass GET values to another url in php? GET value forwarding

    - by gobackpacking
    Ok, so I'm using Jquery's AJAX function and it's having trouble passing a URL with a http address. So I'm hoping to "get" the GET values and send them to another URL — so: a local php file begin passed GET values, which in turn forwards the GET values to another url. Maybe curl is the answer? I don't know. It's got to be a very short answer I know. pseudo code: //retrieve the GET values $var retrieve [GET] //passing it to another url send get values to url ($var, url_address)

  • Weird behavior in referring to global variable. Is this a bug in javascript? Surely it isn't!

    - by Chandan .
    Consider the following piece of code. <html> <body> <script> var x = 5; //globally declared function showX() { alert("x="+x); //trying to display global value var x=10; //trying to create and initialize a local x } </script> <input type = "button" value="Show X" onclick="showX()"> </body> </html> The alert statement shows 'x=undefined'. And doesn't print the global value of x as expected. An equivalent java code would display 5! So, is it a bug? If not then how does one explain that behavior?

  • PHP/Codeigniter FTP Timout

    - by Jack Hayter
    I'm trying to access an FTP server from my PHP script using Codeigniter's FTP Library. These functions work great, but when testing the script I discovered that if I attempt to connect to a server that does not exist, the script does not terminate with an error message of any kind. The page continues to execute, until the web server gives up, returning an empty document. So I am wondering, is there a way to limit the amount of time that Codeigniter can try to connect to an FTP server, then display a message if that times out? I tried using the php function set_time_limit(), but it does not behave how I expected it to. Thanks for your help.

  • file_get_contents() removing tab and new line characters

    - by Patrick Murray
    I am having an issue today with the file_get_contents() function. When reading large files, the newline and tab characters are often removed. Here is a minified example of how I am using this. I hope I am not the only one who has encountered this issue! :O Thank you for your time! <?php $file_name = "template.html"; $data = array( 'title' => 'Hello, World!', 'content'=> 'Hey stackoverflow!'); $file_contents = file_get_contents($file_name); foreach($data as $comment_name => $replacement_value){ $search = "<!-- ".strtoupper($comment_name)." -->"; $file_contents = str_replace($search, $replacement_value, $file_contents); } echo $file_contents; ?>

  • detecting returned errors with $.post

    - by sova
    I'm using $.post to send a query to a JSP which returns some awesome data for me. If the query is malformed, however, the page returns with "error on page" and an HTTP Status of 500 Internal Server Error in jQuery, how can I detect this error so I can tell the user of the failure? runQuery : function () { $.post( admin_stats.runQueryURL, { buster : Math.random, statsQuery: admin_stats.getQuery(), jsp: 'admin_statsQuery' }, admin_stats.handleStatsQuery, "html" ); the returned data is an HTML table which is sufficient for this project at the moment. Also: totally open to criticism if this is ugly or not the way I should be doing things =)

  • AS3IsoLib New IsoSprite

    - by KoopaTroopa
    I'm following a guide (http://www.jsparrowhawk.com/blog/?p=75) on how to use the As3IsoLib library. It seems his examples are a little erroneous at times. I'm at the part of creating a sprite, assigning it an image and then rendering. When I test my application I get my box and grid but not the sprite. var mySprite:IsoSprite; mySprite = new IsoSprite(); mySprite.setSize(40, 40, 0); mySprite.moveTo(120, 40, 0); scene.addChild(mySprite); var myImgLoader:Loader = new Loader(); var myImgURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://www.jsparrowhawk.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/as3isolib_styling_6b.jpg"); myImgLoader.load(myImgURL); myImgLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, imgLoadComplete); function imgLoadComplete(e:Event):void { var myImg:Bitmap = new Bitmap(e.target.content.bitmapData); mySprite.sprites = [myImg]; scene.render(); }

  • List in a Python class shares the same object over 2 different instances?

    - by zfranciscus
    I created a class: class A: aList = [] now I have function that instantiate this class and add items into the aList. note: there are 2 items for item in items: a = A(); a.aList.append(item); I find that the first A and the second A object has the same number of items in their aList. I would expect that the first A object will have the first item in its list and the second A object will have the second item in its aList. Can anyone explain how this happens ? PS: I manage to solve this problem by moving the aList inside a constructor : def __init__(self): self.aList = []; but I am still curious about this behavior

  • Why does document.QuerySelectorAll return a StaticNodeList rather than a real Array?

    - by Kev
    It bugs me that I can't just do document.QuerySelectorAll(...).map(...) even in Firefox 3.6, and I still can't find an answer, so I thought I'd cross-post on SO the question from this blog: http://blowery.org/2008/08/29/yay-for-queryselectorall-boo-for-staticnodelist/ Does anyone know of a technical reason why you don't get an Array? Or why an SNL doesn't inherit from an Array in such a way that you could use map, concat, etc? (BTW if it's just one function you want, you can do something like NodeList.prototype.map = Array.prototype.map;...but again, why is this functionality (intentionally?) blocked in the first place?)

  • Best practice for error handling in codeigniter / php apps

    - by Industrial
    Hi everyone, We're working with a new codeigniter based application that are cross referencing different PHP functions forwards and backwards from various libraries, models and such. We're running PHP5 on the server and we try to find a good way for managing errors and status reports that arises from the usage of our functions. While using return in functions, the execution is ended, so nothing more can be sent back. Right? What's the best practice to send a status information or error code upon ending execution of actual function? Should we look into using exceptions or any other approach? http://us.php.net/manual/en/language.exceptions.php
