  I'm now writing a Bonjour service listener class, according to the document here: Currently, it seems working, I can receive "netServiceBrowserWillSearch:" and "didFindService:moreComing:" correctly. However, after a long wait, I cannot receive " netServiceBrowserDidStopSearch:" or "netServiceBrowser:didNotSearch:". Therefore I don't know that is the proper time for my delegate class to stop showing some UI. Could anyone have an idea for this? Thanks.

• Network printing -- setting up and printing over network using Mac OS X

  I've connected a USB printer to a Mac OS X (10.4) machine -- this computer is connected to a network with a registered IP address -- and enabled sharing through the System Preferences setting (under "Shared" and "Print & Fax". Is this printer shared through the Bonjour or CUPS protocol (does it matter that I know)? How do I sent a print job to this computer (also from a 10.4 OS X machine)? It does not show up in the list of printers in the Default Network when I go to "add printer"; do I need to do anything else (on either machine)? Thanks much!

• PC version of Google Chrome doesn't recognize ".local" domain name

  With Bonjour installed in PC, I can access my server in Mac with ".local". For example, I can access my mac with the name "prosseek.local". The problem is that in Chrome for PC, it doesn't recognize "local" to open search page instead of accessing mac server. This issue isn't happening with other web browsers (explore/firefox) in PC. What is even wierder is that chrome seems to recognize the ".local" sometimes, but not always. How to solve this issue? Or, how can I teach chrome that ".local" is a part of page name in order not to direct to search page?

• Time capsule on windows 7

  Hi guys, I have a time machine to backup my mac book pro. All work fine with it. Now, my girlfriend have a PC on windows 7. She wants to backup her PC with cobian backup on the time machine. But her PC doesn't see the time capsule, so it's impossible to connect it. The Time capsule is connected on my box adsl with wifi and the mac and the pc are connected on the box with wifi. Why windows doesn't see the TC ? I installed "bonjour" on the PC but nothing worked. Thanks for your help.

• Is there a way to customise PPD distribution of printer drivers effectively with Mac Os X server?

  Hi, we have two network printers shared via our 10.5.8 Mac Os Server machine. They have drivers provided by the manufacturer that allow job logging (printing with a print code). I've installed said drivers on the server, but when we distribute the printer on our Mac Os clients (using add printer via bonjour) it deploys older drivers that don't support Job Logging. Is there a way to update the store of print drivers (cups drivers?) on the server so it distributes the updated drivers, rather than the older one?

• Snow Leopard crashes my Xerox printer

  Just set up 2 brand new iMac 21.5" with OS X 10.6.2 pre-installed in our office. Now whenever we try to print an e-mail out, it re-sets the printer i.e. it switches off, does a POST and prints out a Printer Config page. I can print web pages and from other apps fine, just Apple Mail seems to be suffering. Printer is a Xerox Phaser 7750. I downloaded the drivers it recommended when i first tried printing which didn't help and then also tried downloading from the Xerox site. The latter seemed to install fine but then right at the end, it would say 'Installation Successful', then ask me to choose a printer (it found it fine, both by Bonjour and Raw TCP - i tried both) and then it would give an error message. Any help appreciated.

  I have bought a new PC with Windows 7 and a Kodak wireless printer esp 7. I can't download the software always unsuccessful and can't connect to my printer. Any suggestions? Edit (from the other, duplicate question): Still having problems with printing. I did get it working by removing 'bonjour' but turned on yesterday and hey presto it's not working again. The printer is installed and showing as disconnected. Any ideas now? The chat doesn't work with Windows 7, I have downloaded the latest version, they take ages to answer emails, need to print stuff urgently. It's driving me insane!! Please help.

• Windows 7 cannot connect wirelessly to Netgear Router WPN824 V2

  I have a new HP Laptop running Win 7 Home Premium with an Atheros Wireless card. I have a Negear WPN824 V2 Rangemax Router. The router works with a wired connection. Wirelessly it can see the network but it cannot connect. I have searched the web and the WPN824 seems to work for some people, but I cannot get it to connect. I have tried disabling Bonjour Service and a few other things but it continues not to connect. Am I probably correct to assume that the WPN824 is somehow incompatible with Wiondows 7? or am I missing some simple change I should make?

  After upgrading my vostro 3360 on Ubuntu 12.04, I saw that drivers were not available for this version (notably for network). So I decided to install 11.10 but the mic still doesn't work (notably on Skype, Gtalk etc.) I join the model of the audio device and the drivers which were installed before I upgraded to ubuntu 12.04 (I succeeded only in installing the network one) Can you help me to find the solution to this problem with my microphone?   My background(If it's too long, just skip it please ; ) ): I am Java programmer(because of demand): mostly teacher for other students, worked on few thesis for others, but during my journey I discovered that .NET and Microsoft's tools are on at least two levels higher than Java and its tools so I want to learn more about them. I programmed little bit on Windows Phone(NFC Tags, TCP Clients, guitar tuner using internal microphone, simple RSS), used WPF, integrated WPF with Windows Forms, Apple Bonjour(.NET), I have expierience with IP cameras and with unusal problems, I learn Android, but I don't like it at all. Problem: I was asked by my friend to create CRM for small new company. There will maximum 20 workers in the company working at computers in few cities in the country(Poland). They just want to store contracts with the clients and client's data. I am not sure what exacly they do but probably sell apartments so there will be at most few thousands of contracts to store in far future. Now I am totally new to CRM but I want to learn. I have few questions: Should the data be stored on a server in the company's building running 24/7 or cloud. If cloud which one? Should I use ASPX or WPF. I read one topic about it but as far as I know aspx sites can be viewed from every device with internet browser: tablets, phones(Android, WP, iOS) and computers at the same time- so the job is done once and for all(Am I right?), I don't know nothing about aspx. Can WPF be also used in manner that does not need to port it for other platforms?

• Too many connections to 212.192.255.240

  Recently, my Internet slowed down drastically. I downloaded a tool to see the TCP/IP connections from my Vista computer. I found out that a lot TCP/IP connections are being connected to 212.192.255.240 through SVCHost. It seems that it is trying to connect to different ports. I think that my computer is being infected with some kind of malware etc. But I am not sure how to get rid of it. I did a little bit of research on this IP but found nothing. Any suggestions are highly appreciated. UPDATE: This is the HiJackThis log file and I can't find any thing weird. Also, the program is also trying to create connections to 91.205.127.63, which is also from Russia. • How to make distributed builds using XCode 3.2 on OS X 10.6

  After I upgraded using a clean install from OS X 10.5 to 10.6.2 and upgraded the XCode to 3.2.1 I wasn't able to use distributed builds feature anymore. There are several issues that I detected: In most cases Bonjour is not detecting the other computers even they are on the same switch. I added a custom 'set' where I added manually the IP addreses of each computer. Even so I still get status: "unreachable" on them.BTW, ping does work without problems. So first i want to select in binder the binder i need to get the tablesname where data is stored. So i need to select table by a fieldname in this case the fieldname is tableid1 and would have the content 21 so that i have to look in 21. AND it should be property 1 from table 456 and table 21 the same... i am using php and already tried with union and subquerys but it seems that i am to silly to prepare such query!

• How to Use and Manage Extensions to Safari 5

  While there have been hacks to include extensions in Safari for some time now, Safari 5 now offers proper support for them. Today we take a look at managing extensions in the latest version of Safari. Installation and Setup Download and install Safari 5 (link below). Make sure to download the installer that doesn’t include QuickTime if you don’t want it. Also, uncheck getting Apple updates and news in your email. Then decide if you want to install Bonjour for Windows and have Safari automatically update or not. Once it’s installed, launch Safari and select Show Menu Bar from the the Settings Menu. Then go into Preferences \ Advanced and check the box Show Develop menu in the menu bar. Develop will now appear on the Menu Bar…click on it and select Enable Extensions. Using Extensions Now you can find and start using extensions (link below) that will work with Safari 5. In this example we’re installing PageSaver which takes an image of what is showing in your browser. Click on the link for the Extension you want to install…   Then you’ll get a confirmation asking if you want to open or save it. Opening it will install it right away. Click Install in the dialog that asks if you’re sure you want to. Here we see the Extension was successfully installed and you can see the camera icon on the Toolbar. When you’re on a portion of a webpage you want to take an image of, click on the camera icon and you’ll have the image saved in your Downloads folder. Then you can open it up in a browser or image editor. Go into Preferences \ Extensions and from here you can turn the extensions on or off, uninstall, or check for updates. If you’re a Safari user, or thinking about trying it, you’ll enjoy proper support for extensions in version 5. • Windows Start Menu Not Staying on Top

  Hey everyone. I've had this problem since Windows Vista. I did a clean install with Windows 7 and hoped it would fix the problem. Also swapped out the video card just to rule out a strange driver issue. Here's what's happening. After running for some period of time (usually a few hours), the Start button/orb will loose it's "Chrome" and turn into a plain button that just says "Start." It will work fine for a while, but then the start menu will just stop showing. Additionally, when I hit Win+D to show the desktop, the entire taskbar completely disappears. I can get it back usually by moving/minimizing windows that may be overlapping where the start menu should show. Otherwise, it requires either a full reboot or I'll end up killing & restarting the explorer.exe process. • Connection speed drops from 1 Gbps to 10 Mbps (Vista 64)

  I recently got a Windows Home Server (HP MediaSmart Server EX490) setup so I could do backups and other things. However, I am having trouble on my Vista 64 PC. The backup will be making great progress, then it will just slow down. At one point, I noticed the lights on my Netgear GS105 indicated it was not using a 1000 Mbps connection, but a 10 Mbps one. I checked the Status of Local Area Connection (Intel(R) 82567V-2 Gigabit Network Connection) and that also showed the same slow speed. This has happened several times in the last couple days. When I disabled the network device, and then enabled it, it established the 1 Gpbs connection again. However, some of the times the Sent Bytes Activity on the Status windows indicate that the data flow is still slow (100 to 1000 bytes every couple seconds). Obviously, at this rate I could backup faster to floppy disk. :) My question is how to diagnose and fix this problem. When I look at the Administrative Events, I do a Errors: Bonjour Service 456: ERROR: read_msg errno 10054 (An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.) And a Warning: e1yexpress Intel(R) 82567V-2 Gigabit Network Connection Link has been disconnected. I am suspicious there is some power saving mode. I found a post suggesting System Idle Power Saver(SIPS) may be the issue. I am going to try that, but looking for other suggestions or diagnostic advice. I have several new items in this configuration: server, client software, switch and cat6 cables.

• LAMP server VM issues

  After getting a recommendation to salvage a wiki by installing a LAMP server, I went on the prowl for a good virtualized one. I used the VMware Player version. Since the windows box has Bonjour, I can, for example, go to http://lamp.local. and it works see the web client. The problem is, I can't ssh to a directory to scp the files I need, mount a usb thumbdrive (usbfs is unsupported) nor get samba working. I can't even update the ubuntu installation, it fails. I've tried bridged, nat and host-only networking settings in VMware Player. Bridged gives me an undefined IP, while the other two each have different IPs. All three settings allow me to access the web config, but none of them give me samba access. Windows usually freezes, then reports that it cannot connect. I'd rather not wipe a box to do a dedicated install, is there I way I can get this VM working, or are there better LAMP VMs out there? This one came already working and set up with VMware Player, so I thought it would be perfect... Thanks,

• Windows 7 Unidentified Network problem. Cannot connect to the internet.

  This is my first time on this website, but I was told this was a good place to ask this. I basically have a problem with Windows 7 connecting to my home network. It keeps identifying my home network as unidentified, and it continually does "identifying" until it simply say cannot connect to the Internet. I don't know how this problem occurred. It simply happened one morning. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate. I have a Realtek Network adapter. I don't think its the drivers. I have already tried system restore to a date when my computer was working fine but it still didn't fix the problem. From what Ive read online there was this bug in the services.msc area, something to do with Bonjour service. I cannot find either so I do not think that was the problem. I'll be online for a while, so I can provide any additional details if needed. I don't really know how to explain it because its so fudging complicated. I really appreciate clear and open steps to solving this. I have tried some things like system restore and rolling back drivers, doesn't seem to help.

• Multicast hostname lookups on OSX

  I have a problem with hostname lookups on my OSX computer. According to Apple's HK3473 document it says for v10.6: Host names that contain only one label in addition to local, for example "My-Computer.local", are resolved using Multicast DNS (Bonjour) by default. Host names that contain two or more labels in addition to local, for example "server.domain.local", are resolved using a DNS server by default. Which is not true as my testing. If I try to open a connection on my local computer to a remote port: telnet example.domain.local 22 then it will lookup the IP address with multicast DNS next to the A and AAAA lookups. This causes a two seconds lookup timeout on every lookup. Which is a lot! When I try with IPv4 only then it won't use the multicast queries to fetch the remote address just the simple A queries. telnet -4 example.domain.local 22 When I try with IPv6 only: telnet -6 example.domain.local 22 then it will lookup with multicast DNS and AAAA again, and the 2 seconds timeout delay occurs again. I've tried to create a resolver entry to my /etc/resolver/domain.local, and /etc/resolver/local.1, but none of them was working. Is there any way to disable this multicast lookups for the "two or more label addition to local" domains, or simply disable it for the selected subdomain (domain.local)? Thank you!

• Windows 7 fails to connect to the internet a few minutes after startup

  Problem Earlier today, when I turned on my desktop computer, my internet connection works fine. Cryptocurrency miners connecting and hashing as usual and I can browse websites. But after a few minutes, my miner fails indicating that there is something wrong with my internet connection. Tried refreshing my browser and is stuck at "resolving host", and then presented me an error. After that, i can't browse sites anymore. But the weird thing is that the network icon in Windows 7 shows no signs of problems. Solutions Made Restarted my computer without doing anything: Problem persists. Tried using the network troubleshooter of windows: Reported no problems Stopped bonjour still no progress. Loaded windows using Last good config: still no progress. Restarted Modem: No change. Current Status I currently did a system restore to my system to a point before installing the latest update from Microsoft. Because earlier today, I installed some updates and after that, the problem started to appear. (After system restore, same problem.) Latest Programs installed before the problem MS Visual Studio 2013 (but internet still worked fine after the install). I hope someone could provide answers on this problem. It is my first time encountering this. EDIT: Additional Info OS: Windows 7 SP1 64-bit AV: Avast Free Antivirus Internet Connection Type: Ethernet It appears that my Laptop can't even connect to the machine thru Remote Desktop My laptop and phone on WiFi works fine and can connect to the internet. EDIT 2: Whenever I boot into Safe Mode, my Internet is fine.
