    Hello, I am in the middle of writing new network management software for my University. However, I need to implement a quickie solution to handle specific traps. Right now, my snmptrapd is configured to accept any traps, i.e.: # /etc/snmp/snmptrapd.conf authCommunity log publicString logOption f /var/log/snmptrapd.log format1 "" format2 "%02.2h:%02.2j %b %N\n" What I basically want to do is to log ONLY v2c traps. I intended to do it with setting the format for v1 traps to null (format 1 "") but snmptrapd keeps sending "" to its log. Does anybody know a workaround for this?

  • Force Windows to output only mono sound

    So, the 'right' half of my pair of headphones broke (the transducer+wire are fine, but the earpiece broke on the headband and so the earpiece won't sit over my ear). So now the right channel is being broadcast to my cube neighbors when I wear my headphones. Yes, they look very silly. Is there a way to ensure, in Windows XP (or Windows Media Player), that all stereo sound is downmixed to the left channel only (ie, in mono) so my neighbors don't hear my music? I know that I can setup the mixer to set the balance to 100% left, but information in the right channel won't be heard.

  • Force Windows 8 to search indexed files

    When using search files in Windows 8 (win+f) I don't get expected results. For example, I installed VLC, it's in Program Files (86) folder, and that folder is selected for indexing. Search for files (win+f) gives 0 results. If I pin to start that exe, then it's found - but I don't want to do this, that's not the point. Where does it search for files? Is there any way to specify search locations? It doesn't use Indexing Options settings, at least it seams so. Also, searching from explorer window is kinda slow - I tried entering VLC.EXE in search box (when in c:\ root), and it takes some time to give correct results. It works, but it looks like it doesn't use indexing, rather scan all files/folders, which is slow.

  • force connection using USB adapter

    Hi all I am new to Linux, so even though this is probably a simple problem it remains unsolved after more then 3 hours of googling :-( I run running ubuntu 10.04 LTS on an Acer Aspire 5520G . the laptop has a wireless adapter, but since I wanted better range I got an Edimax EW-7711USN USB adapter. now , when running ifconfig I am able to see both adapters where as the laptop native adapter is listed as wlan0 and the usb adapter is listed as wlan1. but listing available networks from the wireless network applet , all the connection are listed under wlan0 , the usb adapter is costencly listed as disconnected. this is what I have been trying to do so far 1) ifconfig wlan0 down - I got disconnected from the net but still was not able to get the usb to connect 2) used the wireless connection dialog to connect to a hidden network with the usb adapter - I was able to connect to the network but with no Internet access 3) disable wireless using the laptop function button - both wireless adapters where disabled can anyone suggest a way to connect to to the wireless network using the USB adapter rather then the built in one ?   • Force request to miss cache but still store the response

    I have a slow web app that I've placed Varnish in front of. All of the pages are static (they don't vary for a different user), but they need to be updated every 5 minutes so they contain recent data. I have a simple script (wget --mirror) that crawls the entire website every 15 minutes. Each crawl takes about 5 minutes. The point of the crawl is to update every page in the Varnish cache so that a user never has to wait for the page to generate (since all pages have been generated recently thanks to the spider). The timeline looks like this: 00:00:00: Cache flushed 00:00:00: Spider starts crawling to update cache with new pages 00:05:00: Spider finishes crawling, all pages are updated until 1:15 A request that comes in between 0:00:00 and 0:05:00 might hit a page that hasn't been updated yet, and will be forced to wait a few seconds for a response. This isn't acceptable. What I'd like to do is, perhaps using some VCL magic, always foward requests from the spider to the backend, but still store the response in the cache. This way, a user will never have to wait for a page to generate since there is no 5-minute window in which parts of the cache are empty (except perhaps at server startup). How can I do this?

  • Force shutdown a pc stuck in updating via Team Viewer

    Before I left office, I shutdown my work computer, leaving it in "Please do not power off..." screen. Now, when I log on to my own computer, I saw in Team Viewer that it's on. I thought it restarted instead of shutting down, but when I connect to it, it's still stuck in the previous screen. I've tried sending Ctrl-Alt-Del, but it seems to ignore it. I could still change its resolution via Team Viewer, and the fact that it respond my connection means it's not completely stalled. Is there anyway to shutdown it via Team Viewer?

    I need to redirect all incoming HTTP traffic to HTTPS on my elastic load balancer. I tired using Apache mod_rewrite: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP:X-Forwarded-Proto} !https RewriteRule !/status https://%{SERVER_NAME}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R] Taking advantage of the X-Forwarded-Proto header added by the load balancer, this rule should instruct the users browser to request the HTTPS version of the same URL. So far It doesn't work (no redirection happens). What am I doing wrong? Is there a better way to do this?

  • What is the probable failure - no BSOD, no event log, monitors sleeping, force reboot required

    Every 3 to 15 days, my PC freezes. This typically happens when the computer is idle, I'm coming home from work, back from vacation, etc. It's never happened while using my computer. The monitors are in power save mode The Caps Lock light on the (wireless) keyboard doesn't work Ctrl-alt-del has no effect, mouse (wireless) has no effect The hardware reset button and single press of power putton have no effect Computer does not appear on the network No BSOD, no memory dump Event logs have no errors or indications of problems near the time of crash. Only messages after reboot indicating that there was a reboot without a clean shutdown. Windows is set to never put the computer to sleep (just the display) Here are the vital stats of the build: OS Windows 8 Pro 64-bit CPU Intel i5-2400 Mobo Intel BOXDP67DE Micro ATX GPU MSI N460GTX Cyclone768D5/OC RAM CORSAIR XMS3 8GB (2 x 4GB) CMX8GX3M2A1333C9 PSU SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold System Drive Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB SSD Data Drive 2 x Western Digital WD20EARS 2TB in hardware RAID 1 Optical Lite-On DVD burner IHAS424-98 And here is the story of how the problem developed and what I've done to diagnose: January 2011, system built with Windows 7 64-bit, runs great. March 2011, Intel replaced the mobo because of the bad sata controllers. October 2012, upgrade to Windows 8 (problems start shortly after). January 2013, system freezes and causes network to fail for the whole house. Unplug the network cable and other devices and PCs can use the internet. Plug it back in, internet goes away for everyone. Reboot and everything is fine. March 2013, install Intel Gigabit CT PCI-E NIC, disable mobo nic in bios. Network strangeness goes away. Freezes are less frequent. Memtest shows no problems (20 passes). Early June 2013, replace Antec PSU with SeaSonic PSU. Mid June 2013, replace OCZ Vertex 2 SSD with Samsung SSD. Late June 2013, get frustrated and hope the community has some good ideas (I'm running out of budget to replace parts). My next plan of attack is setting "Turn off display" to Never and using a screen saver to see how that reacts on the next freeze. It makes me sad to waste power for up to 15 days though. Has anyone out there seen a problem like this? Any ideas on what kind of malfunction would act this way? Ideas of other diagnostic steps to take?

    When subversion attempts to connect to an https URL, the underlying protocol library (openssl) attempts to start the secure protocol negotiation at the most basic level, plain SSL. Unfortunately, I have to connect to a server that requires SSL3 or TLS1, and refuses to respond to SSL or SSL2. I’ve done some troubleshooting using s_client and confirmed that if I let s_client start with the default protocol the server never responds to the CLIENT HELLO: $ openssl s_client -connect server.domain.com:443 CONNECTED(00000003) write:errno=104 --- no peer certificate available --- No client certificate CA names sent --- SSL handshake has read 0 bytes and written 320 bytes --- New, (NONE), Cipher is (NONE) Secure Renegotiation IS NOT supported Compression: NONE Expansion: NONE --- Watching this in Wireshark I see: Client Server -------syn----------> <------ack----------- ---CLIENT HELLO-----> <------ack----------- [60 second pause] <------rst----------- If I tell s_client to use ssl2 the server immediately closes the connection. Only ssl3 and tls1 work. Is there any way to configure openssl to skip SSL and SSL2, and start the negotiation with TLS or SSL3? I've found the OpenSSL config file, but that seems to control only certificate generation.

    I want Windows 7 to store thumbnails cache files in the same folder as the files (thumbs.db) instead of using the centralized location for all thumbnails (By default %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer). How would one achieve this effect? Alternatively, if the former is implausible, I'd settle for no thumbnail caching at all, forcing Windows to regenerate thumbnails each time a folder is accessed.

    user user197015 asked on 1th of November the following question: "We have a RAID 6 array (Infortrend EonStor DS S16F) that recently had two disks fail. Immediately prior to replacing these two disks, a third, good, disk was accidentally ejected from the array. After reinserting this disk it is marked as "exiled" by the array's firmware, and so even after replacing the two failed disks with new ones the array refuses to rebuild the logical volume and remains inaccessible. Since the temporarily-ejected disk is still functional and nothing has been written to the array since it was ejected, it seems that it should theoretically be possible to recover all the data on the array, but how can we convince the array to use the data from the "exiled" disk? Thanks for any help or advice you can offer." Now I've got quite the same problem. The post has been deleted by the user, so I don#t know if he was successful. Is there anybody who can help me?     Hey Guys, Here's the challenge--I developed Softphone Screenpop PHP App that takes caller id info and searches for a match in our db, also allows us to collect call statistics. Great for our management but it's driving our reps nuts. We use firefox here and when our softphone pops to the external page, every time it opens in a new tab, the girls quickly get 5-10 open and it becomes confusing. Our softphone will also run command line. I wondering if there is a way to have a URL open in a certain tab. Otherwise does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks!

  • How to force a drop of MSSQL Server database

    I am trying to delete an MSSQL Server database, however I am having no luck. I have tried multiple things such as user ALTER DATABASE my_database SET RESTRICTED_USER WITH ROLLBACK IMMEDIATE; GO DROP DATABASE my_database; GO I have also tried to right click on it a delete it. This does not work, it tells me "Cannot drop database "ima_debts" because it is currently in use". The thing is there is definately no other user connected to it. In fact I disabled TCP/IP for the database and restarted it. Not even "Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (Administrator)" is connected to it. I have made sure to login to "master". Why is it telling me it is currently in use. Is it possible for me to delete perhaps a directory or something from the file system to get rid of this database? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    I have a UISearchBar and UISearchDisplayController, everything works great but my scope selector displays beside the text field instead of below it. I know that this is the expected action when the device is in landscape, but since I have the UISearchBar in the master view of a UISplitViewController it ends up looking like this http://cl.ly/BN9 Is there any way to force the scope bar to display below the text field in all interface orientations (I know that this works nicely in Mail.app on the iPad, so its possibly, but who knows if Apple decided to hide the option to do so)
