• How to hide and disable cursor globally?

  I have two questions: How to hide cursor for all programs? I tried to hide the cursor by using ShowCursor, but it only works in my program. The cursor still appears when moving cursor outside of my program. How to disable mouse operations for all programs? I use SetWindowsHookEx to hook mouse and prevent other programs to processing the mouse operations. I can hook the clicks, but the problem is that I can't hook the "move". When I move the mouse to menu or system buttons ("minimize/restore/close"), they are highlighted. This means they can still "see" the mouse. Can anyone help me please?

• Changing the cursor in WPF sometimes works, sometimes doesn't

  On several of my usercontrols, I change the cursor by using this.Cursor = Cursors.Wait; when I click on something. Now I want to do the same thing on a WPF page on a button click. When I hover over my button, the cursor changes to a hand, but when I click it, it doesn't change to the wait cursor. I wonder if this has something to do with the fact that it's a button, or because this is a page and not a usercontrol? This seems like weird behavior.

• AutoCompleteTextView with custom list: how to set up onClick Listeners and getting the selected item

  Hi everyone, I am working on an app which uses tags. Accessing those should be as simple as possible. Working with an AutoCompleteTextView seems appropriate to me. What I want: existing tags should be displayed in a selectable list with a CheckBox on each item's side existing tags should be displayed UPON FOCUS of AutoCompleteTextView (i.e. not after typing a letter) What I've done so far is storing tags in a dedicated sqlite3 table. Tags are queried resulting in a Cursor. But the TextView's onClick listener does not respond. And I don't have a clue on how to access the data once an item is (de-)selected. Behaviour of the list should be the following: tapping a CheckBox item should insert/append the corresponding tag into the AutoCompleteTextView (tags will be semicolon-seperated) tapping a TextView item should insert/apped the corresponding tag into the AutoCompleteTextView AND close the list.   Hi all, I have a client-server application and i am using swing in the client side. My swing client has one main window (jframe) and lots of panels, toolbars and menubar in it. I want to remove all client action/mouse events (or simply grab and do nothing) while client is waiting response from server by means of glasssPane. • Cursor moves when left or right clicking on trackpad

  I'm on an acer aspire v5-572p. When I am using the touchpad, and I left or right click something, the cursor moves every time by a couple pixels because unfortunately the clicking area, is also a touch area. I've tried switching to the synaptics mouse drivers provided on the Acer driver website, but the same problem exist. I have researched this problem and there is a fix for this issue in Ubuntu, but I am running Windows 8.1 x64. The problem also existed when I was on 8.0 How do I stop the cursor from moving on a click?

• New Outlook 2003 message, cursor sometimes goes to body, sometimes goes to "To:" field

  I've got an Outlook 2003 client that, when you click on "New message", about half the time the cursor defaults to being in the "body" of the message, and the other half of the time it defaults to the cursor being in the "To:" field. Anyone know why this might be happening? Thought it might be related to having Word set, or not set, to be the default email editor, but that had no effect. Also, this particular user reports that, on their previous machine, it always defaults to the "To:" field. I happen to still have that machine around, unmodified from when it was removed from the, and they are correct - it never goes to the body. I also read that some people had this issue and turned off the "Outlook today" feature to fix it, with mixed results. However, in this case the "Outlook today" feature isn't even turned on.

• Blank displays after inactivity, mouse cursor not showing up

  I have a Windows 7 Enterprise x86 machine that is exhibiting some strange problems. After some inactivity (it varies how long it takes), when I come back to my computer, both of my monitors are black. The monitors are on, with a black display. Moving the mouse and pressing keys on the keyboard do not work. This happens at least once a day. When I first encountered the issue, I performed a hard shutdown and restarted the computer. About 10% of the time when I did this, the resolutions on my monitors were messed up. The native resolution on the primary monitor is 1600x900, and the native on my secondary is 1440x900. None of the widescreen resolutions would be present in the display properties. I had 800x600, 1024x768, and 1280x1024. As a workaround to this issue, I've found that if I plug in my secondary monitor as the primary monitor, and leave the secondary unplugged, then Windows will start in 1024x768 on the secondary. Then, I can use Windows 7's "Detect" feature and it finds the 1440x900 resolution, and sets it. Then I have to connect the primary monitor to the secondary port and set it as the primary. Then I can switch the two cables, putting the primary into the primary, the secondary into the secondary. Then use the "Detect" feature again, and it finds the correct resolutions. Some time after performing the above, I discovered that when the screens were blanked, I could simply press "Control+Alt+Delete", type in my password, and everything comes up fine - except my mouse cursor. All applications and features work as intended, except there is no mouse cursor (the mouse actually works though...). I have the "Show location of pointer when I press CTRL key" option selected, so I can press CTRL and use my mouse as normal - but I have no actual cursor. When the computer is in this state, UAC is also not functional. Whenever a UAC prompt appears, the screens go black (the original symptoms) and I have to press Escape to exit UAC. Because of the above symptoms (the UAC black screen thing, etc) I beleive winlogon.exe may be the culprit. However, I have no idea how to fix it. I am unable to restart winlogon.exe due to the problems I am having with winlogon.exe (the UAC black screen) Looking for any ideas.... More information Windows 7 x86 Enterprise Domain environment (I have a secondary account with administrator rights) Dell Optiplex 960 Cannot perform "optional" windows updates due to an activation issue (I am testing a windows 7 image, and an activation infrastructure has not been created yet. However, this issue was happening before I was unable to perform windows update, and windows was up to date at the time Updated video card driver (as an attempt to fixing the resolution issue) Disabled all power saving options Please let me know what else you need to help me solve this issue!   I am using a template heavy library in c++ and need to understand the template errors. Reading line wrapped template errors is a serious pain. Is there a way to disable line wrapping in bash without also truncating the output. Additionally, is there a way to do horizontal scrolling on the output. I have seen this answer, how to make bash not to wrap output?, but the output is truncated. The solution doesn't have to be bash targeted, if there is method for this using another shell, tmux, piping make output to another program, compiling from within vim, etc, I'll use it. (Except for copy-pasting into gedit)

  Arch Linux shows a blinking cursor instead of a booting installer. I ran sudo dd if=archlinux-2010.05-core-i686.iso of=/dev/sdb1 and checked the MD5 sums. I tried to boot it on two different PCs and got the same result: instead of booting GRUB — or anything useful, for that matter — it just showed a blinking cursor at the top left corner of the screen. The machines became unresponsive to any kind of input, the flash drive LED didn't seem to blink or shiver at all and there seemed to be no other activity whatsoever. I tried using another flash drive, but the machine completely ignored it, booting Windows "normally."

• Seeing double-cursor in 'recursive RDP'

  I'm using a Virtual PC VM on my PC to connect to a remote PC using RDP over a VPN. It works just fine except that in the RDP session, I often see a double mouse cursor... I get a standard mouse-arrow and the context-specific cursor such as a caret or hourglass. It's not a big problem but rather annoying and I wondered if there's any way to fix it, or at least understand where it comes from? Is it because I'm effectively running one RDP session from inside another? My host PC runs W7, my local VM runs XP, and the remote PC access using RDP is W7. Thankyou for any help.

  I want to use cursor keys or cursor keys with a modifier like Ctrl to switch between screen buffers (e.g. C-a [arrow] or C-a C-[arrow]). So far I have tried settings like the ones below with no success. bind \224\115 prev bind \224\116 next bindkey -d ^[[1;5D prev bindkey -d ^[[1;5C next They are either ignored or behave unexpectedly (the second one). I am also not sure how to specify the keys. To get the characters, I either used C-v to quote them in bash, or tried to look-up on the Internet (e.g. http://ascii-table.com/ansi-escape-sequences.php). Any idea how I can achieve this key binding?

• Cursor and selection invisible if focus is lost

  "Latest" versions of Excel (I think it's since 2007) have a new added "feature" that if Excel windows loses focus, the cursor becomes invisible. Also coloring of headers is default, so it's impossible to locate cursor and/or selection as soon as I switch to other window. This annoys the hell out of me as it makes Excel almost unusable for most of tasks I need it for: keeping track of test cases while performing testing in another window. obtaining data somewhere else and porting it to Excel (I have never seen such behavior in other applications and can't even think of a justification for it.) Is is possible to turn this behavior off?

• Disappearing mouse cursor in Word, Notepad, Outlook

  I purchased a lenovo led monitor as a second monitor so I have dual screens now. Everything works great except all text programs make my cursor disappear on the new monitor. Everything works great on the old monitor but if I drag a text document to the new screen the cursor is invisible. Any ideas on what to try? Odd to me that it works on one and not the other so assuming it has something to do with the monitor but none of the settings seem to make a difference.

It simply expands the column to fit the text. If I set the Width to a fixed amount on the last column, wrapping works as expected. The problem there is that if the user widens the window, the column stays at a fixed size. How can I get the column to size dynamically with the width of the grid, but still wrap the text within it?

• Windows 7, Black screen with cursor, impossible to logon

  First - I have gone through as many possible solutions I've found here and elsewhere. [Edit - to describe the issue in more detail, the PC appears to boot correctly, but instead of the logon screen, I have been getting a black screen WITH the pointer cursor, and it responds correctly to the mouse. Pressing CTL-ALT-DEL brings up the logon screen's background, but with no logon area nor any other content. This screen was at the full resolution before I uninstalled the graphics driver in safe-mode.] I also just ran a full up-to-date AVG scan from boot media. [Edit - the AVG scan, which was updated to today's virus signatures, found no issues at all.] So - steps I've tried: Safe Boot, Restore from before the issue - done, no help. Uninstall the graphics driver - done, now i have a 1024x768 fallback screen, still no way in. sfc /scannow - only doable from Safe boot obviously, but no change. [Edit - booting from restore media, performing a startup repair and...]Restore further back - restored to 2 days ago, and I'd had many reboots since then with no problem. Enable autologin to try to get beyond the login screen - done, doesn't work. It seems the best advice is complete reinstall, but I really don't want to do that because it'll take 3-4 days to add all the apps I use. Some key points to note - in both states - before and after removing the video driver, I always had a mouse cursor on the screen. CTL-ALT-DEL flashes up the login background, but no login info. I can (and often do) reinstall from scratch, but was at a fairly stable state before this, and would prefer not to. -Paul

AIUI from the Wrap a Programsection in README, Websockify can help you launch a TCP server and rebind its port so that incoming Websockets-based communication is parsed and forwarded to the server on the proper (rebinded) port. My question is, can this mechanism be used to wrap a server that forks its children which in turn communicate with the client on a different port. Specifically, I am interested in websockifying a Postgres server, which typically listens on port 5432 and for a new incoming connection it forks a child which serves all future request from that client. • Getting LEGEND tags to wrap text properly.

  Legend tags are always a nuisance as they don't adhere to a lot of CSS rules. I'm trying to get the text within a LEGEND tag to wrap using the typical solution of wrapping the text in the LEGEND with a span and setting the width and display: block. <legend> <span style="border: 1px solid blue; width: 250px; display: block"> This text should wrap if it gets longer than 250px in width </span> </legend> I thought this used to work In Firefox, but does not appear to work anymore in 3.6.
