• HTML5 CSS3 layout not working

    - by John.Weland
I have been asked by a local MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) School to help them develop a website. For the life of me I CANNOT get the layout to work correctly. When I get one section set where it should be another moves out of place! here is a pic of the layout: here The header should be a set height as should the footer the entire site at its widest point should be 1250px with the header/content area/footer and the like being 1240px the black in the picture is a scaling background to expand wider as larger resolution systems are viewing them. The full site should be a minimum-height of 100% but scale virtually as content in the target area deems necessary. My biggest issue currently is that my "sticky" footer doesn't stick once the content has stretched the content target area virtually. the Code is not pretty but here it is: HTML5

Untitled Document

College of Martial Arts

News

·

About Us

The Instructors

Our Arts

·

Location

·

Gallery

·

MMA.tv

·

Schedule

·

Fight Gear

test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test
test

tel: (830) 214-4591
e: [email protected]
add: 1273 FM 2673, Sattler, TX 78133

Hwa Rang World Tang soo Do

Copyright © College of Martial Arts

CSS3 -Dropdown Menu- @charset "utf-8"; If anyone can help me to fix this layout and clean up the crap code, I'd be much appreciated.. I've spent weeks trying to figure this out.

  • What is the semantically correct way to use the `
` tag in HTML 5, with `
,
, and <li

    - by viatropos
I currently have an ordered list that I want to markup using the new HTML 5 attributes. It looks like this:

Article A

Some text

Article B

Some text

Article C

Some text

It seems the only way to keep the list AND use HTML 5 tags is to add a whole bunch of unnecessary divs:

Article A

Some text

Article B

Some text

Article C

Some text

Is there a better way to do this? What are your thoughts?

  • WordPress jQuery Toggle based on category

"-" : "+" ) .parent().next().toggle(); e.preventDefault(); }).text('+'); that.find(".children").hide(); } that.children("a").prepend( item ); }); This builds a nice toggle menu for my categories. However what I want it to do is based on what category I am currently viewing show the corresponding menu to be opened when the user lands on the page. Thanks.

  • Movable Type: MTIf not working under MTSubCategories?

    - by kohei

  • Jquery sortable

    - by Nishima
function dropMembers() { $("ul.present").sortable({ connectWith: 'ul', containment: 'window' //containment: 'ADD_MEMBER_DIALOG' // sort: function(event, ui) { // var present_result=$("ul.present").sortable('toArray'); // // alert(ui.sortable); // } }); $("ul.usrlist").sortable({ connectWith: 'ul', dropOnEmpty: true, containment: 'window' // sort: function(event, ui) { // var usr_result=$("ul.usr").sortable('toArray'); // //alert(ui.sortable); // } }); $("#USER_PRESENT_LIST, #MAIN_USER_LIST").disableSelection(); } Hi All, The function given above does sorting between two list but if a move an element from one list over the other and drop it outside the window then what happens is the element that i dragged gets appeneded in the other list at the place from where i moved it. Can anyone tell me how can i stop it from appeneding in the other list and if i try to do the same thing as mentioned above then it should get back to the same list from where it was dragged. Thanks

  • IE6 background appears-disappears on scrolling

    - by itarato
Hi, Given IE6, an UL-LI list and a background image for the UL container. ...

...
...
When I load the page, the background is randomly loaded, some parts are visible, some are not. Moreover, it changes on runtime when I'm scrolling on the page. When I scroll out the UL list and scroll back, different parts of the background will be visible, depends on the speed of scrolling. Do you have any idea? Thanks in advance.

  • Can't change Emacs's default indentation between HTML tags

    - by janoChen
I'm confused about the Emacs indentation paradigm. I have this in my .emacs file: (setq-default tab-width 4) If I press TAB in the following situation
(caret)
it end up like this
(caret)
(with 2 spaces indentation between the HTML tags.) It should end up like this:
(caret)
I tried everything: (setq-default tab-width 4) (setq-default indent-tabs-mode t) (setq tab-stop-list '(4 8 12 16)) I've set every possible Emacs setting about indentation to 4 but that 2 space indentation is still there. Any suggestions?

  • Can first descendent be selected directly?

    - by Ben Huh
I am currently using find() and first() method to select the first descendent element from each of the
elements that contains the parent class. But I find this quite cumbersome since find() method would produce a set of matched elements before the first element is being picked. The following is the skeleton of my code: HTML

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

random characters

// .....the list continues Javascript $('.parent').each(function() { $(this).find('ul li').first().css('color', 'red'); // do other stuff within each loop }); I have seen people using $(".parent li:first") selector. But, because I am doing it in a loop, I am not sure how or whether if this could be done and would like some advice. Thanks.

  • How to get the second element using jquery

    - by Jesse
Using this jquery code I am trying to change the display from none to block for the second ul under Sale which is under Belts (It has a belts-1 href). The below code should be accessing the second element but its not. What am I doing wrong? $currentCategory = "Belts"; $(".sideCatMenu a:contains('" + currentCategory + "') ul").next(ul).eq(2).css('display', 'block'); I am searching this list
Sale

Accessories

Bags

Wristbands

Dog Collars

Wallets

Ten Dollar Buckles

Belts

28" Belts

30" Belts

32" Belts

34" Belts

36" Belts

38" Belts

40" Belts

42" Belts

44" Belts

46" Belts

48" and Larger Belts

  • Using a .delay() function before .css() manipulation in jQuery

    - by Fabian
I have this: var $ul = $(this).children("ul"); $ul.animate({opacity: 0}, 1000); $ul.delay(1000).css("display", "none") It's for my dropdown menu, and I want it to fade off before it disappears using the display: none; CSS property. However it appears that the .delay() cannot be used on the .css(); it doesn't work, the $ul just disappears right away. I can't use $ul.animate({opacity: 0, display: "none"}, 1000); either.

  • Creating a grid overlay over image.

    - by neteus
Hi everybody, I made a script (using mootools library) that is supposed to overlay an image with a table grid and when each grid cell is clicked/dragged over its background color changes 'highlighting' the cell. Current code creates a table and positions it over the element (el, image in this case). Table was used since I am planning to add rectangle select tool later on, and it seemed easiest way to do it.

0

1

2

3

4

5

A 'working' example: http://72.14.186.218/~alex/motion.php There are two problems: while it works just fine in FF, IE and Chrome do not create the table if the page is refreshed. If you go back to directory root and click on the link to the file the grid table is displayed, if you hit 'refresh' button -- the script runs but the table is not injected. Secondly, although the table HTML is injected in IE, it does not display it. I tried adding nbsp's to make sure its not ignored -- to no avail. Any suggestions on improving code or help with the issues is appreciated. Thanks!

  • Grid overlayed on image using javascript, need help getting grid coordinates.

Hi I am fairly new to javascript and could use some help, I am trying to overlay a grid on top of an image and then be able to have the user click on the grid and get the grid coordinate from the box that the user clicked. I have been working with the code from the following stackoverflow question: Creating a grid overlay over image. link text Here is the code that I have so far:

0

1

2

3

4

5

In this example the grid box changes color when the image is grid box is clicked, but I would like to be able to have the coordinates of the box. Any help would be great. Thank you

  • Using JQuery tabs in an HTML 5 page

    - by nikolaosk
In this post I will show you how to create a simple tabbed interface using JQuery,HTML 5 and CSS.Make sure you have downloaded the latest version of JQuery (minified version) from http://jquery.com/download.Please find here all my posts regarding JQuery. Also have a look at my posts regarding HTML 5.In order to be absolutely clear this is not (and could not be) a detailed tutorial on HTML 5. There are other great resources for that.Navigate to the excellent interactive tutorials of W3School.Another excellent resource is HTML 5 Doctor. Two very nice sites that show you what features and specifications are implemented by various browsers and their versions are http://caniuse.com/ and http://html5test.com/. At this times Chrome seems to support most of HTML 5 specifications.Another excellent way to find out if the browser supports HTML 5 and CSS 3 features is to use the Javascript lightweight library Modernizr. In this hands-on example I will be using Expression Web 4.0.This application is not a free application. You can use any HTML editor you like. You can use Visual Studio 2012 Express edition. You can download it here. Let me move on to the actual example. This is the sample HTML 5 page

Liverpool Legends

Liverpool Legends

Defenders

Midfielders

Strikers

Liverpool Defenders

The best defenders that played for Liverpool are Jamie Carragher, Sami Hyypia , Ron Yeats and Alan Hansen.

Liverpool Midfielders

The best midfielders that played for Liverpool are Kenny Dalglish, John Barnes,Ian Callaghan,Steven Gerrard and Jan Molby.

Liverpool Strikers

The best strikers that played for Liverpool are Ian Rush,Roger Hunt,Robbie Fowler and Fernando Torres.

All Rights Reserved

This is very simple HTML markup. I have styled this markup using CSS.The contents of the style.css file follow* { margin: 0; padding: 0;}header{font-family:Tahoma;font-size:1.3em;color:#505050;text-align:center;}#tabs { font-size: 0.9em; margin: 20px 0;}#tabs ul { float: left; background: #777; width: 260px; padding-top: 24px;}#tabs li { margin-left: 8px; list-style: none;}* html #tabs li { display: inline;}#tabs li, #tabs li a { float: left;}#tabs ul li.active { border-top:2px red solid; background: #15ADFF;}#tabs ul li.active a { color: #333333;}#tabs div { background: #15ADFF; clear: both; padding: 15px; min-height: 200px;}#tabs div h3 { margin-bottom: 12px;}#tabs div p { line-height: 26px;}#tabs ul li a { text-decoration: none; padding: 8px; color:#0b2f20; font-weight: bold;}footer{background-color:#999;width:100%;text-align:center;font-size:1.1em;color:#002233;}There are some CSS rules that style the various elements in the HTML 5 file. These are straight-forward rules. The JQuery code lives inside the tabs.js file $(document).ready(function(){$('#tabs div').hide();$('#tabs div:first').show();$('#tabs ul li:first').addClass('active'); $('#tabs ul li a').click(function(){$('#tabs ul li').removeClass('active');$(this).parent().addClass('active');var currentTab = $(this).attr('href');$('#tabs div').hide();$(currentTab).show();return false;});}); I am using some of the most commonly used JQuery functions like hide , show, addclass , removeClass I hide and show the tabs when the tab becomes the active tab. When I view my page I get the following result Hope it helps!!!!!

  • need advice for small css issue [migrated]

    - by JaPerk14
I have a small design problem in my css, and I'd like to know if someone could check it out for me. The design problem is in the rollover effect of my horizontal navigation. There seems to be some sort of added margin or padding, but I'm having trouble finding the problem in the css. I will paste the code I'm using below, so you can see for yourself. You won't be able to see the problem until you rollover the navigation list items. HTML:

Link #1

Link #2

Link #3

Link #4

Link #5

CSS: .Horiznav { background: #1F00CA; border-top: solid 1px #fff; border-bottom: solid 1px #fff; } .Horiznav ul { font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-weight: bold; color: #fff; text-Align: center; margin: 0; padding-top: 5px; padding-bottom: 5px; } .Horiznav ul li { display: inline; } .Horiznav ul li a { padding-top: 5px; padding-bottom: 5px; color: #fff; text-decoration: none; border-right: 1px solid #fff; } .Horiznav ul li a:hover { background: #16008D; color: #fff; } #active a { border-left: 1px solid #fff; }

  • Ubiquitous Language and Custom types

    - by EdvRusj
Note that my question is referring to those attributes that even on their own already represent a concept ( ie on their own provide a cohesive meaning ). Thus such attribute needs no additional functional support and as such is self-contained. I'm also well-aware that even with self-contained attributes the custom types may prove beneficial ( for example, they give the ability to add new behavior later, when business requirements change ). Thus, my question focuses only on whether custom types for self-contained attributes really enrich Ubiquitous Language UL a) I've read that in most cases, even simple, self-contained attributes should have custom, more descriptive types rather than basic value types ( double, string ... ), because among other things, descriptive types add to the UL, while the use of basic types instead weakens the language. I understand the importance of UL, but how does having a basic type for a self-contained attribute weaken the language, since with self-contained attributes the name of the attribute already adequately describes the concept and thus contributes to the UL vocabulary? For example, the term person_age already adequately explains the concept of quantifying the number of years a person has: class Person { string person_age; } so what could we possibly gain by also introducing the term ThingAge to the UL: class person { ThingAge person_age; } thanks

  • "Mega Menus" for SEO [duplicate]

    - by Thought Space Designs
This question already has an answer here: How do I handle having to many links on a webpage because of my menu 4 answers I'm using the term "Mega Menus" loosely here. I'm redesigning my WordPress site (it's going to be responsive), and as part of the redesign, I was debating incorporating some sort of descriptive menu setup. For example, normal navigation drop down menus come in the form of unordered lists of links like so:

Link1

Link2

Link3

Sub Link1

Sub Link2

Sub Link3

Link4

What I'm looking to do is build my drop down menus with more information than your standard menu. For example, I have a top level link named "Team", and under that link, I want to make a large drop down that contains head shots, headers (in the form of styled p tags) and brief (<100 words) descriptions of each team member (only 2 currently). I want to accompany this with a "Read More" link that takes you to their actual team page. This is just one example, of course, and the other top level links would also have descriptive drop downs in the same fashion. On mobile, I was planning on hiding the "mega menu", and delivering a standard unordered list of links. Here's what I was thinking for overall structure and syntax:

Home

About

Team

Team Member 1

Short description goes here.

Team Member 1

Team Member 2

Contact

Can anybody think of any potential SEO ramifications of doing this? I'm not going to be loading these menus full of links, so it shouldn't hurt page rank, but what are the effects of having a good bit of text and maybe even forms within nav elements? Is there such a thing as overloading nav with HTML? EDIT: Here's an example of what the menu would look like rendered on desktop. I'm currently hovering the "Team" menu, but you can't see because my mouse went away when I took the screenshot. EDIT 2: This question is not a duplicate. I'm not going to have "too many" links in my menus. I'm wondering how having images and text inside of header navigation will affect my menus. Also, I don't just want "yes, this is bad" answers. Please cite your sources and be specific with reasoning.

  • jQuery Hover functions

    - by Banderdash
Thus far you guys have been wildly helpful with me getting this little ditty working just so. I have one further request: This markup:

Research Themes

Learn about our approach to the environment

How we are tying this all together

Project: Solor Powered Biofactories

Project: Cleaning Water with Nature

Project: Higher Efficiency Solar Technology

Learn about our approach to human health

Project name numero uno goes here

Project name numero dos goes here

Project name numero tres goes here

Learn about our approach to national defense

Project name numero uno goes here

Project name numero dos goes here

Project name numero tres goes here

And this jQuery: $(function(){ $(".tier_1 > a").hover(function() { var currentList = jQuery(this).parents('li').find('.tier_2'); $(currentList).slideToggle(); jQuery(this).parents('ul').find('.tier_2').not(currentList).slideUp(); return false; }); }); Create this nifty 'themes' slider you can see working on the right column of this page: http://clients.pixelbleed.net/biodesign/ I have two problems with it...The hover retracts the slideUp/down when you hit one of the links under a tier_2 ul. I'd like it to remain slideout as someone hovers the nested li's. So the slide should only happen on hover for the tier_1 elements. Also I would like, on hover to add an "active" class to the a element on the tier_1 links. So [a class="enviro"..] would, on hover, become [a class="enviro active"]. This is then removed when one of the other tier_1 items is hovered. This way the pretty color icon can stay visible while someone looks at the nested elements. Not even sure all that is possible with hover, but I figured if anyone would know a way it would be here.

  • jQuery Accordion Plugin: removeClass('selected')

    - by mheppler9d
I am using the Accordion menu to filter a data table. The menu contains two filters, with multiple options under each. You can only have ONE filter selected at a time. If you click between the two options under the first filter, the style class, 'selected' is added and removed without a problem. If you click an option under the second filter though, it DOESN'T remove the 'selected' class from the first filter. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Filter by Organization

Association

Business

Filter by Type

Basic

Advanced
