• Custom configuration file custom_config.js not working?

  Hello gals/guys, I am trying to use a custom configuration file instead of the default config.js file in the ckeditor root. I have placed a renamed copy of the config.js file in my webroot and call it with customConfig. It is not working for me though. Is my syntax creating any issues? I used the dev docs site as a ref: http://docs.cksource.com/CKEditor_3.x/D ... igurations Any ides or comments will really help me out. Im stuck. • Detect if PCRE was built without the --enable-unicode-properties or --enable-utf8 configuration switches

  I've a PHP library that uses a number of regular expressions featuring the \P expressions for multibyte strings, e.g. ((((?:\P{M}\p{M}*)+?)|(\'[^\']*\')|(\"[^\"]*\"))!)?\$?([a-z]{1,3})\$?(\d+) While this works on most builds, I've had a few reports of the regexp returning an error. Depending on Operating platform, the error messages from PCRE are: Compilation failed: PCRE does not support \L, \l, \N, \P, \p, \U, \u, or \X at offset n or Compilation failed: support for \\P, \\p, and \\X has not been compiled at offset n I know that I can probably test a regexp at the beginning of my code that uses \P, and trap for a returned error, then use that response to set a compatibility flag and provide a degraded (non UTF-8) regexp without the \P within the main body of my code based on that compatibility flag; but I was wondering if there was any simpler way to identify whether PCRE had been built without the --enable-unicode-properties or --enable-utf8 configuration switches. PHP provides access to PCRE_VERSION constant, but that won't help identify whether \P support is enabled or not.

• Unable to export runnable jar, launch configuration grayed out

  I am not able to figure out how to export a runnable jar in eclipse. I have a java project (project A) (written by someone else) which when imported in Eclipse, I can click Build Project and it will create a projectName.jar file under bin/ directory. That jar file contains binary *.class files. This jar file is added as external library for another java project (project B) which I want to debug. But because all the class files are binary I'm not able to do line-by-line debugging. I tried exporting Runnable Jar in Eclipse, for that I have to select a Launch Configuration. But there is no main class in project A. (I recursively grepped for main and didn't find any). What can I do to export jar of project A that contains respective source code also (which will be used in line-by-line debugging)?

• Can Apache configuration check cookies?

  My situation: We have a mobile version of our website, and want to start redirecting mobile users to it. The plan is to do this in Apache httpd.conf or .htaccess, using something like this: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} (iPhone|Blackberry|...) RewriteRule (.*) mobile/$1 However we want there to be a way for users to override our default action of redirecting them. One way we thought to do it was to show a link on the mobile site directing back to the regular site, and store a cookie when they use that link. Could the Apache configuration file check a cookie before redirecting? Is there a better way?

  did everything the book says, i.e. removed the authentication files from .subversion/auth, and explicitly set the relevant config parameters to 'yes' even though this is a default, and yet the shell svn commands ask for password each time. The repository is on cvsdude.com, the client is linux. I also use the subclipse plugin that caches the password ok. I vaguely remember that when I started working with it, the command asked interactively if I wanted to save clear password, and I said no. Can this choice be stored somewhere and take precedence over the configuration? Thanks!

• Testing HTTPS files with MAMP

  I am running MAMP locally on my laptop, and I like to test as much as I can locally. Unfortunately, since I work on e-commerce stuff (PHP), I normally force ssl in most of the checkout forms and it just fails on my laptop. Is there any easy configuration that I might be missing to allow "https" to run under MAMP? Please note, I know that I could configure Apache by hand, re-compile PHP, etc. but I'm just wondering if there's an easier way for a lazy programmer. Thanks

• Problem with testing In App with sandbox test account

  Hi, I created a test user account through the Manage User Accounts in iTunes Connect. When you create such an account you have to select a valid storefront for your account. I chose US Store. Now I signed out from the store in App Store settings on my device. Ran the application and tried to perform a purchase. I successfully login with my test account. After I press Confirm when entering my credentials I get an alert, that comes from SKPaymentTransactionStateFailed from the observer. It says "Your account is only valid for purchases in the US iTunes Store". The error state = 0 unknown. Second time when i try to perform the purchase, StoreKit only asks me for a password like the previous login was successful. After entering a password I can perform a purchase. My question is whether it's only because it's a testing account and the application is not actually on AppStore? What should I do to avoid this message or at least to continue the purchasing process?   Hi all, I've got the following regular expression that works fine on my testing server, but just returns an empty string on my hosted server. $text = preg_replace('~[^\\pL\d]+~u', $use, $text); Now I'm pretty sure this comes down to the hosting server version of PCRE not being compiled with Unicode property support enabled. The differences in the two versions are as follows: My server: PCRE version 7.8 2008-09-05 Compiled with UTF-8 support Unicode properties support Newline sequence is LF \R matches all Unicode newlines Internal link size = 2 POSIX malloc threshold = 10 Default match limit = 10000000 Default recursion depth limit = 10000000 Match recursion uses stack Hosting server: PCRE version 4.5 01-December-2003 Compiled with UTF-8 support Newline character is LF Internal link size = 2 POSIX malloc threshold = 10 Default match limit = 10000000 Match recursion uses stack Also note that the version on the hosting server (the same version PHP is compiled against) is pretty old. What confuses me though, is that pcretest fails on both servers from the command line with re> ~[^\\pL\d]+~u ** Unknown option 'u' although this regexp works fine when run from PHP on my server. So, I guess my questions are does the regular expression fail on the hosting server because of the lack of Unicode properties? Or is there something else that I'm missing? Thanks all, Gaz.

• Should Development / Testing / QA / Staging environments be similar?

  Hi all, After much time and effort, we're finally using maven to manage our application lifecycle for development. We still unfortunately use ANT to build an EAR before deploying to Test / QA / Staging. My question is, while we made that leap forward, developers are still free to do as they please for testing their code. One issue that we have is half our team is using Tomcat to test on and the other half is using Jetty. I prefer Jetty slightly over Tomcat, but regardless we using WAS for all the other environments. My question is, should we develop on the same application server we're deploying to? We've had numerous bugs come up from these differences in environments. Tomcat, Jetty, and WAS are different under the hood. My opinion is that we all should develop on what we're deploying to production with so we don't have the problem of well, it worked fine on my machine. While I prefer Jetty, I just assume we all work on the same environment even if it means deploying to WAS which is slow and cumbersome. What are your team dynamics like? Our lead developers stepped down from the team and development has been a free for all since then. Walter

I don't understand how this is happening since "Resource temporarily unavailable" is supposed to correspond to EAGAIN as far as I know. I'm sure there must be something simple I'm missing. And yes, I know this is not a full proof way to test and I account for that.

• Creating Emulated iSCSI Target in a Lab/Testing Environment using Windows Server 2008 R2

  We have a single server running Windows Server 2008 with Hyper-V installed running 5 virtual machines. I have purchased a second DELL R805 Server so that we can create a fail-over cluster to our current R805 that is currently in production. Right now, our R805 connects via iSCSI to a MD3000i iSCSI SAN. Before we try to roll out the second server and clustering to our production environment, I want to be able to test and "play with" the clustering features in our lab before rolling it out. The problem is that I don't want to spend a couple thousand dollars on another iSCSI SAN server just for testing. I already have two servers in my lab that are installed with Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit (one is the R805 and another spare desktop that was laying around) and with the Hyper-V roll enabled that should be ready to test with, but I don't have an iSCSI target to use as the Cluster Shared Volume. Is there anyway to install, either on a Hyper-V image or on a external spare computer that we have some sort of emulated iSCSI target? In our lab, we obviously don't need a real SAN, just something that we can test out how to setup the clustering properly outside of our production environment. Any advise is appreciated. FYI - I have read Jose Barret's blog on WUDSS at http://blogs.technet.com/josebda/archive/2008/01/07/installing-the-evaluation-version-of-wudss-2003-refresh-and-the-microsoft-iscsi-software-target-version-3-1-on-a-vm.aspx, but it seems awfully complex. Both options do not work for me - I'm testing a huge amount of nested data using Test::Deep and cmp_deeply. My question is, how can you extract a double from a regexp then use it immediately as a double - or if there is a better way altogether let me know - and feel free to tell me to take up gardening or something lol, learning Perl is hard.

• Force screen size when testing embedded DOS app in Windows 7 command window

  I'm doing some embedded DOS development with OpenWatcom (great Windows-hosted compiler for targeting 16-bit DOS applications). The target hardware has a 24x16 character screen (that supposedly emulates CGA to some degree), and I'm trying to get the CMD.EXE window on my Windows 7 machine to stay at a fixed 24x16 without any scroll bars. I've used both the window properties and MODE CON: COLS=24 LINES=16 to get the screen size that I wanted, but as soon as my application uses an INT10 BIOS calls to clear the screen, the mode jumps back to 80x24. • Disk Drive not working

  The CD/DVD drive on my sisters' (I'm helping her shift from Win. XP (now officially deprecated by Microsoft) to Ubuntu) system. Now, it may end up being a failed attempt, all together (Almost the whole last year (when she's been on XP) the disk drive hasn't (not even powering on) been working.), I just want to make sure I've explored every remote possibility. Because I figure, "Huh, now that I've got Ubuntu running, instead of XP, that (just) might make a difference.". I have tried using the sudo lshw command in the terminal, to (seemingly) no avil, but, who knows, you might be able to make something out of it. • MSDeploy migrate only configuration from IIS 6 to 7

  We have 19 websites, many of which have many "virtual" directories, on a IIS 6 server. I am trying to migrate the whole thing over to IIS 7 on a different server. Following the instructions on http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/427/migrate-a-web-site-from-iis-60-to-iis-70/ I attempted the following command line execution: msdeploy -verb:sync -source:metakey=lm/w3svc -dest:package=D:\Temp\Sites.zip > D:\temp\WebDeployPackage.log It appeared to be working until I got a "There is not enough space on the disk" error. The D drive, which you'll notice is the target location for the package and the log has plenty of space (all the resources for the websites are about 5gb, the drive has 200+). Though the C drive is of limited size (6Gb), so that might be the problem. Anyway, I figure the best bet was to try and do a migration of settings/configurations only, not the actual resources. We can easily deploy the resources to the new server with our NAnt build scripts, so that's not an issue. Getting all the correct configurations moved over, however, would be challenging to do manually. So, is there a way to export/package only the configuration/options of the IIS 6 server using msdeploy (or any other tool?)

Does anyone know how to use config files like this in WPF?

• Why is code quality not popular?

  I like my code being in order, i.e. properly formatted, readable, designed, tested, checked for bugs, etc. In fact I am fanatic about it. (Maybe even more than fanatic...) But in my experience actions helping code quality are hardly implemented. (By code quality I mean the quality of the code you produce day to day. The whole topic of software quality with development processes and such is much broader and not the scope of this question.) Code quality does not seem popular. Some examples from my experience include Probably every Java developer knows JUnit, almost all languages implement xUnit frameworks, but in all companies I know, only very few proper unit tests existed (if at all). I know that it's not always possible to write unit tests due to technical limitations or pressing deadlines, but in the cases I saw, unit testing would have been an option. If a developer wanted to write some tests for his/her new code, he/she could do so. My conclusion is that developers do not want to write tests. Static code analysis is often played around in small projects, but not really used to enforce coding conventions or find possible errors in enterprise projects. Usually even compiler warnings like potential null pointer access are ignored. Conference speakers and magazines would talk a lot about EJB3.1, OSGI, Cloud and other new technologies, but hardly about new testing technologies or tools, new static code analysis approaches (e.g. SAT solving), development processes helping to maintain higher quality, how some nasty beast of legacy code was brought under test, ... (I did not attend many conferences and it propably looks different for conferences on agile topics, as unit testing and CI and such has a higer value there.) So why is code quality so unpopular/considered boring? EDIT: Thank your for your answers. Most of them concern unit testing (and has been discussed in a related question). But there are lots of other things that can be used to keep code quality high (see related question). Even if you are not able to use unit tests, you could use a daily build, add some static code analysis to your IDE or development process, try pair programming or enforce reviews of critical code.

  I'm using the Uploadify jQuery control for client-side uploads. I think my IIS 7 configuration has issues with it. The uploadify POST immediately returns a HTTP 1.1 302 Found, back to my login page. I've tried to allow anonymous access to the uploading section(subfolder) plus the page(script) that processes the image in the web.config, using the location node(configuration ... location). Seems like the Uploadify post is immediately blocked. Again, this worked fine just using Visual Studio 2008, but when I run the site on the same machine I get the redirect. Your thoughts/ideas are very welcomed!

• WCF configuration and ISA Proxies

  Hi, I have a setup with a .NET WCF Service hosted on IIS. The client apps are connecting to the service through a set of ISA proxy's. I don't know how many and don't know about their configuration etc. In the client apps I open a client to the service and make several calls via the same client. It works great in my office, but when I deploy at the customer (using the ISAs), after some calls, the connection breaks. In a successfull case, the client will maximum live a few seconds, but is that too much? I think there might be several proxyes. Maybe it's using load ballancing. pseudo code is something like this: WcfClient myClient = new WcfClient(); foreach (WorkItem Item in WorkItemsStack) myClient.ProcessItem(Item); myClient.Close(); I am thinking whether I have to do something like this foreach (WorkItem Item in WorkItemsStack) { WcfClient myClient = new WcfClient(); myClient.ProcessItem(Item); myClient.Close(); } Any one with experience with this field?
