  • Placemark not giving city name in ios 6

    - by Sawant
I am using this code in which i am getting Placemark but it not giving the city name. Earlier i am using MKReverse Geocoder to get the placemark in which i am getting the city name but as in ios6 it showing deprecated because the apple developer added every thing in CLLocation. so i used this code. `-(void) locationManager:(CLLocationManager *)manager didUpdateToLocation:(CLLocation *)newLocation fromLocation:(CLLocation *)oldLocation { CLLocation *location = [locationManager location]; NSLog(@"location is %@",location); CLGeocoder *fgeo = [[[CLGeocoder alloc] init] autorelease]; // Reverse Geocode a CLLocation to a CLPlacemark [fgeo reverseGeocodeLocation:location completionHandler:^(NSArray *placemarks, NSError *error){ // Make sure the geocoder did not produce an error // before continuing if(!error){ // Iterate through all of the placemarks returned // and output them to the console for(CLPlacemark *placemark in placemarks){ NSLog(@"%@",[placemark description]); city1= [placemark.addressDictionary objectForKey:(NSString*) kABPersonAddressCityKey]; NSLog(@"city is %@",city1); } } else{ // Our geocoder had an error, output a message // to the console NSLog(@"There was a reverse geocoding error\n%@", [error localizedDescription]); } } ]; } ` here as i am seeing in console in NSLog(@"%@",[placemark description]); its giving output like :- abc road name, abc road name, state name, country name. any help please .Thanking in advance.

  • Build an Xcode project on a Linux machine

    - by d11wtq
Without writing a GNUmakefile by hand, do any tools exist that understand Xcode projects and can build then directly against GNUstep, thus simplifying (slightly) the work required to keep projects functional under Cocoa/Mac and GNUstep/Linux? Basically, is there an xcodebuild style app for Linux? I looked at pbtomake a few weeks ago but it seems to be a dead project.

  • Drawing a texture with an alpha channel doesn't work -- draws black

    - by DevDevDev
    I am modifying GLPaint to use a different background, so in this case it is white. Anyway the existing stamp they are using assumes the background is black, so I made a new background with an alpha channel. When I draw on the canvas it is still black, what gives? When I actually draw, I just bind the texture and it works. Something is wrong in this initialization. Here is the photo - (id)initWithCoder:(NSCoder*)coder { CGImageRef brushImage; CGContextRef brushContext; GLubyte *brushData; size_t width, height; if (self = [super initWithCoder:coder]) { CAEAGLLayer *eaglLayer = (CAEAGLLayer *)self.layer; eaglLayer.opaque = YES; // In this application, we want to retain the EAGLDrawable contents after a call to presentRenderbuffer. eaglLayer.drawableProperties = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: [NSNumber numberWithBool:YES], kEAGLDrawablePropertyRetainedBacking, kEAGLColorFormatRGBA8, kEAGLDrawablePropertyColorFormat, nil]; context = [[EAGLContext alloc] initWithAPI:kEAGLRenderingAPIOpenGLES1]; if (!context || ![EAGLContext setCurrentContext:context]) { [self release]; return nil; } // Create a texture from an image // First create a UIImage object from the data in a image file, and then extract the Core Graphics image brushImage = [UIImage imageNamed:@"test.png"].CGImage; // Get the width and height of the image width = CGImageGetWidth(brushImage); height = CGImageGetHeight(brushImage); // Texture dimensions must be a power of 2. If you write an application that allows users to supply an image, // you'll want to add code that checks the dimensions and takes appropriate action if they are not a power of 2. // Make sure the image exists if(brushImage) { brushData = (GLubyte *) calloc(width * height * 4, sizeof(GLubyte)); brushContext = CGBitmapContextCreate(brushData, width, width, 8, width * 4, CGImageGetColorSpace(brushImage), kCGImageAlphaPremultipliedLast); CGContextDrawImage(brushContext, CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, (CGFloat)width, (CGFloat)height), brushImage); CGContextRelease(brushContext); glGenTextures(1, &brushTexture); glBindTexture(GL_TEXTURE_2D, brushTexture); glTexParameteri(GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL_TEXTURE_MIN_FILTER, GL_LINEAR); glTexImage2D(GL_TEXTURE_2D, 0, GL_RGBA, width, height, 0, GL_RGBA, GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE, brushData); free(brushData); } //Set up OpenGL states glMatrixMode(GL_PROJECTION); CGRect frame = self.bounds; glOrthof(0, frame.size.width, 0, frame.size.height, -1, 1); glViewport(0, 0, frame.size.width, frame.size.height); glMatrixMode(GL_MODELVIEW); glDisable(GL_DITHER); glEnable(GL_TEXTURE_2D); glEnable(GL_BLEND); glBlendFunc(GL_SRC_ALPHA, GL_ONE_MINUS_DST_ALPHA); glEnable(GL_POINT_SPRITE_OES); glTexEnvf(GL_POINT_SPRITE_OES, GL_COORD_REPLACE_OES, GL_TRUE); glPointSize(width / kBrushScale); } return self; }

  • iPhone, Convenience Method or Alloc / Release?

    - by fuzzygoat
Whilst developing for the iPhone I had a stubborn memory leak that I eventually tracked down to NSXMLParser. However whilst looking for that it got me thinking about maybe changing a lot of my convenience methods to alloc/release. Is there any good reason for doing that? In a large app I can see how releasing memory yourself quickly is a better idea, but in a small app is there any other difference between the two methods. NSNumber *numberToAdd = [NSNumber numberWithInt:intValue]; dostuff ... OR NSNumber *numberToAdd = [[NSNumber alloc] initWithInt:intValue]; doStuff ... [numberToAdd release]; cheers gary.

  • MPMediaItem - NSCoding problem with MPMediaItemArtwork

    - by z s
Hi, So MPMediaItem conforms to NSCoding, but it contains a pointer to MPMediaItemArtwork, which doesn't conform to NSCoding. So if I try to archive a MPMediaItem, if that item has some artwork in it, it will not be able to unarchive. I tried to make a category of MPMediaItemArtwork and make it conform to NSCoding, but I can't seem to do that because we don't have access to the actual UIImage that it stores. Does anyone know of any other creative ways to get around this problem? I want to be able to archive an MPMediaItem, even if it means somehow stripping off the artwork object. Is there a way to make a category of a class to strip away certain functionality (instead of just adding more, like we do with categories)? Or any other clever way to achieve this? Thanks.

  • Accessing 2D array and passing string to label.text

    - by Amir
Hi. I'm trying to create 2D array and initialize it with NSStrings. When I try to copy content of a cell from the array to a label.text, the application crashes. NSMutableArray *array = [NSMutableArray arrayWithCapacity:0]; [array addObject:[NSMutableArray arrayWithObjects: [NSArray arrayWithObjects: @"0-0", @"0-1", @"0-2", nil], [NSArray arrayWithObjects: @"1-0", @"1-1", @"1-2", nil], [NSArray arrayWithObjects: @"2-0", @"2-1", @"2-2", nil], nil]]; label.text = [[array objectAtIndex:0] objectAtIndex:0]; Any idea why and what am I doing wrong?

  • Need multiple views to respond to a touch event in an iPhone app

    - by Joel
Setup: I have two views that I need to respond to the touch event, and they are layered out on top of one another. View 1 is on top of View 2. View 2 is a UIWebView. View 1 is sublclassed to capture the touch event. My problem is that if I try to call the UIWebView event handlers (touchesBegan: and touchesEnded:) from within the event handlers of View 1, which is the first responder, nothing happens. However if I set View 1 to userInteractionEnabled = NO, then the touch goes through that view and is processed properly by the 2nd view. Any ideas on how I can have 2 views respond to a touch event? Unfortunately the 2nd view is a UIWebView, so I need to actually call the event handler and not a different method, etc... Thanks in advance for any advice, Joel

  • How to get NSFormatter subclass to work with NSTableColumn sort key and selector?

    - by Andrew
My setup: I have a sqlite database from which I populate a NSMutableArray of NSDictionary objects this is the DataSource for my NSTableView. One of the columns holds "time", the time is a float that holds seconds. I would like to display the values in this column as minutes:seconds. For instance my data would be 123.4329387 I want to display 2:03 which I have no problem doing with a subclass of NSFormatter (or NSNumberFormatter) applied to my NSTextField in the column. I have sorting set up by using the Table Column Attributes in IB, I just have the sort key set to "time" and the selector set to "compare:" which works fine without the formatter. Currently this gives me something like this when I sort (descending) 1:37, 1:31, 0:10, 0:10, 0:09, 1:30, 1:30, 1:26, 0:09 and similar nonsense, it looks like something is going on but it's definitely not sorted. How do I get the sort to look at the underlying data instead of the formatted value? Alternately, how do I specify a custom sort method and where do I put the code for said method? I have searched around quite a bit and have not found anything to help me out with this problem, any help with this is most appreciated.

  • Obj-C : Passing parameters back from a detailViewController in a navigation controller

    - by Garfield81
Hi I am using a navigation Controller on an iPhone app. I am able to pass data forward when I push a controller into the navigation stack but how do I pass data back when I pop the controller. What I am basically trying to achieve is the root navigation controller view displays a number of fields that can be edited. A user then clicks on one of the fields to be edited and a EditViewController is pushed onto the stack with the name of the field the user wants to edit. Now the users enters the new value of the field and presses save to pop the view controller. So how do I get the value from the editViewController back to the root navigation controller view?

  • Alternative Control Structures

    - by Brock Woolf
I've been wondering about alternative ways to write control structures. One that you learn early on for if statements is a replacement for this: if ( x ) { // true } else { // false } with this (sometimes this is more readable compared to lots of brackets): x ? true : false It got me thinking. Can we replace anything else incase it's more readable. We of course replace if statements like this: if (a < b) { return true; } else { return false; } with things like this: return a < b; We can save a long if with something like this (pretty much same as the one above): bool xCollisionTrue = (object.xPos < aabb.maxX && object.xPos > aabb.minX); So those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head for the if statement and doing comparisons. So I'm wondering what about looping constructs, for, while, etc. Maybe the code obfuscators might have some ideas.

  • OpenGLES mix and match blending options complicated question

    - by DevDevDev
So I have a background line drawing, black and white. I want to be able to draw over this, keeping the black lines in there, and drawing only where it is white. I can do this by using glBlendFunc(GL_DST_COLOR, GL_ONE_MINUS_SRC_ALPHA); And the black stays black and white gets whatever color I want. However in the white areas, I want to be able to draw some color, pick to another color and then blend. However this doesn't work because the blend function is messed up. So what I was thinking is having a linedrawing framebuffer, and a user-drawing framebuffer. The user draws into the userdrawing framebuffer, with a different blending, and then I switch blending options and draw into the linedrawing framebuffer. But i don't know enough OpenGL to say whether or not this will work or is a stupid idea. Thanks a lot

  • How no make a button show UINavigationBar only in 3 of 5 tabs in UITabBar?

    - by Mike Rychev
I have an app, where there's a UITabBar with 5 tabs. When user shakes the device, I want the UINavigationBar to push an UIImageView. When I show the UIImageView, I need to hide both tab and nav bars. After that, when user taps the UIImageView, the NavBar appears again and user can go to the UIImageView's parent view. I make the Nav Bar appear like this: [[self navigationController] setNavigationBarHidden:NO animated:YES]; But in two tabs I have to make the Nav Bar appear, so user can switch to UIImageView's parentView and then, when the parent view appears, hide the nav bar. How can I do it?

I put this in X-code: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"DrinkArray" ofType:@"plist"]; NSMutableArray* tmpArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:path]; self.drinks = tmpArray; [tmpArray release]; // Uncomment the following line to display an Edit button in the navigation bar for this view controller. // self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = self.editButtonItem; } And it says this on the first line: "Method Definition not an @implementation context" Could anyone help?

  • I-Phone: Trying to check an Array for an item based on a string produced

    - by MB
Hello! I'm writing a program that will concatenate a string based on letters, and then check an array to see if that string exists. If it does, then it will print a line in IB saying so. I've got all the ins-and-outs worked out, save for the fact that the simulator keeps crashing on me! Here's the code: -(IBAction)checkWord:(id)sender { NSMutableArray *wordList = [NSMutableArray arrayWithObjects:@"BIKE", @"BUS", @"BILL", nil]; if([wordList containsObject:theWord]) { NSString *dummyText = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:@"%@ is a real word.", theWord]; checkText.text = dummyText; [dummyText release]; } } "theWord" is the string that is being referenced against the Array to see if it matches an item contained within it. In this case "BIKE" is 'theWord'. Thank you for your help in advance! -MB
