• How to increment the string value during run time without using dr.read() and store it in the oledb

  Here is my code, everything is working fine the only problem is with the ReadData() method in which i want the string value to be increment i.e AM0001,AM0002,AM0003 etc. This is happening but only one time the value is getting increment to AM0001, the second time the same value i.e AM0001 is getting return. • Holding variables in memory, C++

  Today something strange came to my mind. When I want to hold some string in C (C++) the old way, without using string header, I just create array and store that string into it. But, I read that any variable definition in C in local scope of function ends up in pushing these values onto the stack. So, the string is actually 2* bigger than needed. Because first, the push instructions are located in memory, but then when they are executed (pushed onto the stack) another "copy" of the string is created. First the push instructions, than the stack space is used for one string. So, why is it this way? Why doesn't compiler just add the string (or other variables) to the program instead of creating them once again when executed? Yes, I know you cannot just have some data inside program block, but it could just be attached to the end of the program, with some jump instruction before. And than, we would just point to these data? Because they are stored in RAM when the program is executed. Thanks.

  C# WinForms .Net 3.5 to SQL CE 3.5 on Mobile 6.1 Device I'd like to make a connection from a desktop application to a SDF database on my Windows Mobile device while it's connected via ActiveSync. Visual Studio lets me create a Data Connection to my device. The connections tests OK and I can view the data in the database using Visual Studio. I then create a form and try to fill a DataGridView. When I run the program I get an error that the path to the data base is not valid. How am I supposed to specify the Mobile device path in the connection string? I have come across alot of write ups to configure it to use C3P0 connection pool. Well I am lost. I found that I need to set: hibernate.connection.datasource hibernate.jndi.url hibernate.jndi.class hibernate.connection.username hibernate.connection.password Would datasource be the same as the hibernate.connection.datasource set in the connection pool? What would hibernate.jndi.class be? Are hibernate.connection.username and hibernate.connection.password for the connection to the database or to the appserver? I assume this is to the database, but why do I need them since that is all set in the appserver?

• hibernate c3p0 broken pipe

  Hi, I'm using hibernate 3 with c3p0 for a program which constantly extracts data from some source and writes it to a database. Now the problem is, that the database might become unavailable for some reasons (in the simplest case: i simply shut it down). If anything is about to be written to the database there should not be any exception - the query should wait for all eternity until the database becomes available again. If I'm not mistaken this is one of the things the connection pool could do for me: if there is a problem with the db, just retry to connect - in the worst case for infinity. But instead i get a broken pipe exception, sometimes followed by connection refused and then the exception is passed to my own code, which shouldn't happen. Even if I catch the exception, how could i cleanly reinitialize hibernate again? (So far without c3p0 i simply built the session factory again, but i wouldn't be surprised if that could leak connections (or is it ok to do so?)). The database is Virtuoso open source edition. • Connecting to database on web host in Visual Studio

  I have a web site developed locally with a local Sql Server database. I also have a web host that provides one Sql Server database for my site. Now I want to deploy the application, and I would like to be able to manage the remote database from the Server Explorer in Visual Studio. I have the connection string used in the application, which works fine for adding, say, a datasource to a control etc. But I don't know if there's any way to use it to connect the database inside the Server Explorer so that I can add tables etc. I have read that you're supposed to be able to this instead of using the Sql Server Management Studio, but I have'nt read anything about how to connect to the remote database in it. What I have tried so far is this: I have selected Add database in Server Explorer. This brings up first a dialog where I choose Sql Server. And then I get a dialog where I can set Server name (which I tried using the ip address in the connection string below), and Authentication (where I chose Sql Server Authentication, with the user id and password from below). But when I test the connection it fails. Here's the connection string, which works fine when used for datasources in the application (obviously with different user name and password): Any help appreciated!

• Can I make TCP/IP session to run less than 60 seconds?

  Our server is overloaded with TCP/IP sessions, we have 1200 - 1500 of them. Most of them are hanging in TIME_OUT state. It turns out that a connection in TIME_OUT state occupies a socket until 60 second time-out is elapsed. The problem is that the server gets unresponsive and many clients are not getting served. I have made a simple test: download an XML file from the server with Internet Explorer 8.0 The download finishes in a fraction of second. But then I see that the TCP/IP connection is hanging in TIME_OUT state for 60 seconds. Is there any way to get rid of TIME_OUT waiting or make it less to free the socket for new connections? I understand why TCP/IP connection enters TIME_OUT state, but I don't understand why Internet Explorer does not close the connection after the XML file download is over. The details. Our server runs web service written in Perl (mod-perl). The service provides weather data to clients. Client is a Flash appication (actually Flash ActiveX control embedded in Windows application). Apache "Keep Alive" option is set to 0

URL is formed as follows. jdbc:sqlserver://%DB_IP%:%DB_PORT%;SelectMethod=cursor;integratedSecurity=true;DatabaseName=dbname; 1) From Machine 2, If I use "abc\user2" credential for connection, then it works fine. since integratedSecurity=true. 2) From Machine 2, If I use "abc\user1" credential for connection, then it doesn't fine, since integratedSecurity=true and take System Credentials i.e "abc\user2". Even if I make integratedSecurity=false , then also it doesn't connect using "abc\user1" What changes to URL I have make to work for "abc\user1" from Machine2 for connection. what properties to be added in url?   I have an app that works fine on 32-bit systems, but fails on XP 64 bit systems. I've tracked it down to the connection string defined in my app.config thus: <connectionStrings> <clear/> <add name="IFDSConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=fdsdata;Initial Catalog=IFDS; Trusted_Connection=true;Connect Timeout=0" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> </connectionStrings> When I try to reference it in code, I find that the ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings collection only contains the LocalSqlServer connection string from the machine.config file and not my custom string. Another oddity is that it works fine when I run the app out of Visual Studio. It is only when I run out of the release folder that the connection string does not get defined. The application's .exe.config file is there in the release folder along with the .exe file and is up to date.

• Intermittent Connection Issues to SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM

  The problem I am facing is a very complex one and inspite of trying to gather a root cause of the problem, I am standing at the same place after 2 months with just bits and pieces of information.Here is a scenario: There is a windows 2003 server which uses an system DSN ODBC connection. I looked into the driver properties and it is as follows: Name Version File SQL Server 2000.86.3959.00 SQLSRV32.DLL Now, this system DSN has been given configured with TCP\IP in Network Libraries and 'determine port dynamically' is checked. Now, lets come to the database destination. It is hosted on Windows 2008 having SQL 2008 R2 RTM version 64-bit. Now, I will give you a an overview about the events that happen and whatever troubleshooting I could perform: I get an email saying 'blah blah' failed and the only message their application gets is 'cannot connect to database' I go the SQL Server logs and find the following information: Login failed for user ''. Reason: An attempt to login using SQL authentication failed. Server is configured for Windows authentication only. [CLIENT: 10.0.0.xx Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 58.] A quick search shows that this error may come when an SQL Server is configured with windows authentication but its not true. We have mixed mode and connection issue is intermittent. This SQL Server is configured to run on a local system account but since we use only SQL Server accounts to connect to this, there should not be any Kerberos errors. When I run a profiler trace and see only 'existing connections', i see a lot of them coming from my client server displaying the sql user but NO hostname is shown. Textdata field shows TCP\IP information along with some arithabort and ansi-null settings.   Hi All, I develop web application using struts2. I want to improve getting string from forms. For this need trim all string and if obtained string is empty then set null to field. Please, not offer solutions such as: remove the value of such form elements using javascript. create util method which will make it using reflection. Then call it for each form bean.   I'm converting a D2006 program to D2010. I have a value stored in a single byte per character string in my database and I need to load it into a control that has a LoadFromStream, so my plan was to write the string to a stream and use that with LoadFromStream. But it did not work. In studying the problem, I see an issue that tells me that I don't really understand how conversion from AnsiString to Unicode string works. Here is some code I am puzzling over: oStringStream := TStringStream.Create(sBuffer); sUnicodeStream := oPayGrid.sStream; //explicit conversion to unicode string iSize1 := StringElementSize(oPaygrid.sStream); iSize2 := StringElementSize(sUnicodeStream); oStringStream.WriteString(sUnicodeStream); When I get to the last line, iSize1 does equal 1 and iSize2 does equal 2, so that part is what I understood from my reading. But, on the last line, after I write the string to the stream, and look at the Bytes Property of the string, it shows this (the string starts as '16,159'): (49 {$31}, 54 {$36}, 44 {$2C}, 49 {$31}, 53 {$35}, 57 {$39} ... I was expecting that it might look something like (49 {$31}, 00 {$00}, 54 {$36}, 00 {$00}, 44 {$2C}, 00 {$00}, 49 {$31}, 00 {$00}, 53 {$35}, 00 {$00}, 57 {$39}, 00 {$00} ... I'm not getting the right results out of the LoadFromStream because it is reading from the stream two bytes at a time, but the data it is receiving is not arranged that way. What is it that I should do to give the LoadFromStream a well formed stream of data based on a unicode string? Thank you for your help.

  I have a function where I have a container which holds strings (eg vector<string>, set<string>, list<string>) and, given a start iterator and an end iterator, go through the iterator range processing the strings. Currently the function is declared like this: template< typename ContainerIter> void ProcessStrings(ContainerIter begin, ContainerIter end); Now this will accept any type which conforms to the implicit interface of implementing operator*, prefix operator++ and whatever other calls are in the function body. What I really want to do is have a definition like the one below which explicitly restricts the amount of input (pseudocode warning): template< typename Container<string>::iterator> void ProcessStrings(Container<string>::iterator begin, Container<string>::iterator end); so that I can use it as such: vector<string> str_vec; list<string> str_list; set<SomeOtherClass> so_set; ProcessStrings(str_vec.begin(), str_vec.end()); // OK ProcessStrings(str_list.begin(), str_list.end()); //OK ProcessStrings(so_set.begin(), so_set.end()); // Error Essentially, what I am trying to do is restrict the function specification to make it obvious to a user of the function what it accepts and if the code fails to compile they get a message that they are using the wrong parameter types rather than something in the function body that XXX function could not be found for XXX class.
