    I'm looking for a way to play flash videos in the background, without controls (yes legitimate reason), and a js api to start/stop the videos easily, like: video1.stop(); or $("div.all-videos").start(); Basically, I'm looking for http://www.happyworm.com/jquery/jplayer/ for video. Soundmanager is basically what I need on the flash side, but it has no html5 support. Is there a flash player that video player that does have html5 video support. Thanks.

  • Using TCP Acks to measure latency to a server?

    I am trying to measure latency to a server that I don't control. This is in a colocated environment, so the latency is on the order of 500 us (.5 ms). I understand that Cisco gear frequently deprioritizes ICMP traffic, making ping times unreliable. Is there a way for me to tell if this is the case on the gear I am traversing? Can I use TCP acknowledgements to determine the minimum latency to the remote server? To do this, I would somehow need to force the remote server to send a TCP ack immediately on receiving my data.

  • Zoom image to pixel level

    For an art project, one of the things I'll be doing is zooming in on an image to a particular pixel. I've been rubbing my chin and would love some advice on how to proceed. Here are the input parameters: Screen: sw - screen width sh - screen height Image: iw - image width ih - image height Pixel: px - x position of pixel in image py - y position of pixel in image Zoom: zf - zoom factor (0.0 to 1.0) Background colour: bc - background colour to use when screen and image aspect ratios are different Outputs: The zoomed image (no anti-aliasing) The screen position/dimensions of the pixel we are zooming to. When zf is 0 the image must fit the screen with correct aspect ratio. When zf is 1 the selected pixel fits the screen with correct aspect ratio. One idea I had was to use something like povray and move the camera towards a big image texture or some library (e.g. pygame) to do the zooming. Anyone think of something more clever with simple pseudo code? To keep it more simple you can make the image and screen have the same aspect ratio. I can live with that. I'll update with more info as its required.

    Dear all, I am trying my hands understanding PCAP libraries. I am able to apply a filter and get the TCP payload at port 80. But what next ? How can I read the HTTP data - suppose I want to know the "User Agent" field value in the http header..how should I proceed ? I have searched the website (and googled a lot too), and could find a related thread here : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2073183/writing-a-http-sniffer. But this doesn't help me anywhere...     Hi, I always again encounter discussions about where to place the business logic: inside a business layer in the application code or down in the DB in terms of stored procedures. Personally I'd tend to the 1st approach, but I'd like to hear some opinions from your part first, without influencing you with my personal views. I know there doesn't exist a one-size-fits-all solution and it often depends on many factors, but we can discuss about that. Btw, we are in the context of web applications and our current approach is to have UI layer which accepts UI input and does a first, client-side validation Business layer with a number of service-classes which contains the business logic including validation for user input (server-side) Data Access Layer which calls stored procedures from the DB for doing persistency/read operations Many people however tend to move the business layer stuff (especially regarding the validation) down to the DB in terms of stored procedures. What do you think about it? I'd like to discuss.

After having done a bit of C programming and getting comfortable with the language, I wanted to look under the hood and see what the compiler is doing for the code that I write. This is very strange. And then it is copying 'i' into 'eax' and doing things that are beyond me. I have heard that the compiler implements some jump table for switch..case. Is it what this code is doing? Or what is it doing and why? Because in case of less number of cases, the code is pretty similar to that generated for if...else ladder, but when number of cases increases, this unusual-looking implementation is seen.
