  • What approach should be suitable for user authentification in simle client/server app

    My previous question was closed so I will be more specific. I need to create an application, desktop one written in C#, that will ask for user credentials and after verification opens the GUI allowing to work with DB (black box for users). It should be used from everywhere, not LAN or SQL domain. I assume I would need to do the following: Create a client and a server applications that will deal with authentification. That would mean a lot of socketing stuff.. Once the user is verified, the client queries would be sent to database (client-server-DB). The server would need to send the DB data sets back to the client. As you can see, this is just my guess but I have no idea whether its too complicated or completely wrong. The main thing is that it must be desktop app (not web based one) and accessible from everywhere. I am interested in main points how to design the system and will be extremely grateful for that.

    I have installed deployd in my debian 7.0.0 64 bit, I have also succesfully installed mongodb in it, I have create some collection and user collection in deployd dashboard, then using user guide how to connect and query the table in deployd, I choose jquery ajax to log in to deployd from my localhost site and after login success I try to get/post some data, but somehow deployd return access denied.     I'm a Django beginner. My site - let's call it abc.com - works fine, letting users log in and out (having originally registered via Django registratiaon). If it's relevant, my virtuahosts file has ServerName abc.com and ServerAlias www.abc.com directives. I don't want my visitors to sense that both abc.com and www.abc.com exist, and so discovered Django's prepend_www setting, which works as intended. In addition to working as intended, however, there's a side effect that disables logging in and out when visiting the www. variant of my site.

    Let's say I write a game application. I want the level of the player to be stored in an external file. How can I prevent a hacker from writing and modifying the file to put another level ? I want the file to be modified by my application only. I can sign the file's content with a key, but then this key will be stored in the application, therefore it would be possible for a hacker to decompile the binary and find the key. Is there any way to do this ?

  • PHP_AUTH_USER only known in certain frames

    Getting very confused by PHP_AUTH_USER. Within my web pages I have .htaccess files in every directory, controlling who can (and cant) see certain folders. In order to further customise the pages I was hoping to use PHP_AUTH_USER within the PHP code, i.e. tailor page contents based on the user. This only seems to work partially. The code snippets below hopefully demonstrate my problems. The main index.php creates a framed page with a menu structure in the top left hand corners, some irrelvant stuff in top right and then the tailor made contents in bottom frame. In top left the user is correctly shown, but in the bottom frame PHP_AUTH_USER doesnt seem to be set anymore (it returns empty and when printing all $HTTP_SERVER_VARS its not listed). Script.php is in a different path, but they all have .htaccess files in them and all other contents is displayed correctly. Why does it not know about PHP_AUTH_USER there?   • Synchronize the position of two ScrollView views

    I am trying to synchronize the positions of two ScrollViews. I'm trying to do this to display a tv guide listing. I have created a custom class that extends RelativeLayout to display the guide. This relative layout has four children: an imageview in the top left corner, a HorizontalScrollView to display the column headers in the top right, a ScrollView to display the row headers at the bottom left, and a ScrollView in the bottom right that contains the listings. This ScrollView then contains a HorizontalScrollView, which in turn contains a LinearLayout with multiple child views that display the data. I hope this explains it clearly, but here's a diagram to make it clearer: ____________ |__|___hsv___| | | | | | sv -> | | | hsv -> | |sv| ll -> | | | etc | | | | |__|_________| I set it up like this because I wanted the guide listings to scroll both horizontally and vertically, but there's no scroll view that does this. Also, I want the row and column headers to display no matter what position the guide listings are at, but I want them to be lined up properly. So I'm trying to find a way to synchronize the positions of the two hsv's, and to also synchronize the positions of the two sv's. I'm also trying to do it in a way that avoids just running a handler every few milliseconds to poll one view and call scrollTo on the other. I'm in no way sure that this is the best way to do it, but this is what I've come up with. If anybody has any other suggestions, please feel free!

  • Comparing two collections for equality

    I would like to compare two collections (in C#), but I'm not sure of the best way to implement this efficiently. I've read the other thread about Enumerable.SequenceEqual, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for. In my case, two collections would be equal if they both contain the same items (no matter the order). Example: collection1 = {1, 2, 3, 4}; collection2 = {2, 4, 1, 3}; collection1 == collection2; // true What I usually do is to loop through each item of one collection and see if it exists in the other collection, then loop through each item of the other collection and see if it exists in the first collection. (I start by comparing the lengths). if (collection1.Count != collection2.Count) return false; // the collections are not equal foreach (Item item in collection1) { if (!collection2.Contains(item)) return false; // the collections are not equal } foreach (Item item in collection2) { if (!collection1.Contains(item)) return false; // the collections are not equal } return true; // the collections are equal However, this is not entirely correct, and it's probably not the most efficient way to do compare two collections for equality. An example I can think of that would be wrong is: collection1 = {1, 2, 3, 3, 4} collection2 = {1, 2, 2, 3, 4} Which would be equal with my implementation. Should I just count the number of times each item is found and make sure the counts are equal in both collections? The examples are in some sort of C# (let's call it pseudo-C#), but give your answer in whatever language you wish, it does not matter. Note: I used integers in the examples for simplicity, but I want to be able to use reference-type objects too (they do not behave correctly as keys because only the reference of the object is compared, not the content).

  • Width of li with two floats different in IE, correct in FF

    I've worked out most of the kinks with my "lava-lamp" effect that I'm trying to create. Basically I want two curly braces (both are images) to wrap a list-item, then follow over to the next list-item. I always build in FF, then make exceptions for IE. I can't figure out what exception I need to make! I'm using an absolutely positioned li that contains two div's. The first div is floated left, the second is floated right. The width of the li is set to the width of the li it supposed to be wrapping. Thus creating the effect of the braces on the left and right sides of the text. It works beautifully in Firefox, but IE has two issues: The bottoms of the images are cut off. Sometimes they reappear when the animation ends, sometimes they don't. I assume this has to do with height, but no matter what I set the height to, it fails! The width is completely wrong. Here's a live example of it: http://jsbin.com/odome/2 The left position in IE is always 5-7px more than in FF, but that's a small difference. I'm more concerned with the width and the bottoms of the images being trimmed. Thanks, as always, for the help!

    Hi folks, I have two lines: Line1 and Line2. Each line is defined by two points (P1L1(x1, y1), P2L1(x2, y2) and P1L1(x1, y1), P2L3(x2, y3)). I want to know the inner angle defined by these two lines. For do it I calculate the angle of each line with the abscissa: double theta1 = atan(m1) * (180.0 / PI); double theta2 = atan(m2) * (180.0 / PI); After to know the angle I calculate the following: double angle = abs(theta2 - theta1); The problem or doubt that I have is: sometimes I get the correct angle but sometimes I get the complementary angle (for me outer). How can I know when subtract 180º to know the inner angle? There is any algorithm better to do that? Because I tried some methods: dot product, following formula: result = (m1 - m2) / (1.0 + (m1 * m2)); But always I have the same problem; I never known when I have the outer angle or the inner angle!     Hello, I am trying to come to a working understanding of how databinding works, but even after several tutorials I only have a basic understanding of how databinding works. Thus this question might seem fundamental to those more familiar with silverlight. Even if it is trivial, please point me to some tutorial that deals with this problem. All that I could find simply solved this via adding the data binding on a parent page.xaml (that i must not use in my case). For the sake of this example let us assume, that we have 5 files: starter.cs button1.xaml + codeBehind button2.xaml + codeBehind The two buttons are generated in code in the starter(.cs) file, and then added to some MapLayer button1 my_button1 = new button1(); button2 my_button1 = new button2(); someLayer.Children.Add(my_button1); someLayer.Children.Add(my_button2); My aim is to connect the two buttons, so that they always display the same "text" (i.e. my_button1.content==my_button2.content = true;). Thus when something changes my_button1.content this change should be propagated to the other button (two way binding). At the moment my button1.xaml looks like this: <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot"> <Button x:Name="x_button1" Margin="0,0,0,0" Content="{Binding ElementName=x_button2, Path=Content}" ClickMode="Press" Click="button1_Click"/> </Grid> But everthing that i get out of that is a button with no content at all, it is just blank as the binding silently fails.   • Calculate rotation between two Vector2s around a pivot

    Hello all. After a good long Sunday google I am going to have to hang my head in shame and ask the question... What I have is a pivot vector2, a "Previous" vector2 and a "Current" vector2. I would like to be able to calculate the rotation in radians between them. A slight complication is the fact that the pivot may moved between previous and current but ill deal with the offsetting as a separate issue if you don't have the time to bring that into the fold. To clarify, an object which has two vectors, a pivot and a base ... the pivot sitting in the centre and the base at the bottom is rotated around an external pivot. I need to work out the rotation of the object itself around its centre using the two mentioned vectors. Very big thanks to anyone that can help. Background to problem I have a game where an object is rotated around an external pivot. By using using two points (one in the centre, one at the base of the object) I am wanting to to work out the rotation that needs to be applied to the objects sprite around its centre to conform to the larger rotation that has been applied.

    I need to join two tables with the same number of rows. Each table has 1 column. There is NO CONNECTING COLUMN to reference for a join. I need to join them side by side because each table was sorted separately so that numeric values are at the top in descinding order. The Table Earners has income values from say 200K down to 0. I cannot just select using 2 cases, because then I will have my first row with Incomes above 100K, but the first 20 or so entries in the second row are NULL. I want the second row to also be sorted descending. I looked up using ORDER BY within CASE but there is no such thing. I have tried to read about row_number() but none of the examples seem to match or make sense. drop table #20plus select case when Income >= 20000 AND Income < 100000 then Income end as 'mula' into #20plus from Earners order by mula desc drop table #100plus select case when Income >= 100000 then Income end as 'dinero' into #100plus from Earners order by dinero desc Select A.dinero, B.mula FROM #100plus as A JOIN #20plus as B ON A.????? = B.?????     Hi, i have to develop a mechanism to check two object properties for changes. All properties which are needed to check are marked with an attribute. Atm i - read all properties from acutal object via linq - read the corresponding property from old object - fill an own object with the two properties (old and new value) In Code the call to the workerclass looks like this public void CreateHistoryMap(BaseEntity actual, BaseEntity old) { CreateHistoryMap(actualEntity, oldEntity) .ForEach(mapEntry => CreateHistoryEntry(mapEntry), mapEntry => IfChangesDetected(mapEntry)); } CreateHistoryMap builds up the HistoryMapEntry which contains the two properties. CreateHistoryEntry build up the object which is saved to database, the IfChangesDetected check the object for changes. I have to handle own special application types to generate history values to database (like concatinating list values and so on). My problem is now, that i have to read the values of the properties twice - for change detection - and for the concreate CreateHistoryEntry How can i eliminate this problem or how can i implement the change tracking scenario with the nice c# 3.5 features? If I remove the second function call(koo) from the code, than the code inside the if statement can be compiled. What can I do to have both asynchronus AJAX calls?

    I have two arrays of doubles of the same size, containg X and Y values for some plots. I need to create some kind of protection against Inf/NaN values. I need to find all that pairs of values (X, Y) for which both, X and Y are not Inf nor NaN If I have one array, I can do it using lambdas: var filteredValues = someValues.Where(d=> !(double.IsNaN(d) || double.IsInfinity(d))).ToList(); Now, for two arrays I use following loop: List<double> filteredX=new List<double>(); List<double> filteredX=new List<double>(); for(int i=0;i<XValues.Count;i++) { if(!double.IsNan(XValues[i]) && !double.IsInfinity(XValues[i]) && !double.IsNan(YValues[i]) && !double.IsInfinity(YValues[i]) ) { filteredX.Add(XValues[i]); filteredY.Add(YValues[i]); } } Is there any way of filtering two arrays at the same time using LINQ/Lambdas, as it was done for single array?

    In some code I'm trying to learn from, the Maze string below is turned into an array (code not shown for that) and saved in the instance variable @maze. The starting point of the Maze is represented by the letter 'A' in that Maze, which can be accessed at @maze[1][13]---row 1, column 13. However, the code I'm looking at uses @maze[1][13,1] to get the A, which you can see returns the same result in my console. If I do @maze[1][13,2], it returns the letter "A " with two blank spaces next to it, and so on. [13,3] returns "A " with three blank spaces. Does the 2 in [13,2] mean, "return two values starting at [1][13]? If so, why? Is this some feature of arrays or two dimensional arrays that I don't get?
