  • Help choosing the right data structure

    I need a data structure with the following requirements: Needs to be able to get elements by index (like a List). I will always just add / remove elements from the end of the structure. I am inclined to use an ArrayList. In this situation, it seems to be O(1) both to read elements (they always are?), remove elements (I only need to remove them at the end of the list) and to add(I only add to the end of the list). There is only the problem that time to time the ArrayList will have a performance penalty when it's completly full and I need to add more elements to it. Is there any other better idea? I don't think of a data structure that'd beat the ArrayList here. Thanks

    Right now I have a window with horizontal ad vertical scrollbars. I use these parameters to initialize it. //Set OGL Frame scroll bar SCROLLINFO inf; inf.cbSize = sizeof(SCROLLINFO); inf.fMask = SIF_PAGE | SIF_POS; inf.nPage = 20; inf.nPos = 30; It creates them in the center and I like their size, but when I scroll I multiply by 50 which creates chopiness. How could I add more resolution to the bars and still keep the same thumb size. Is there a way I can calculate the size and position of the bar based on the above parameters? Thanks

  • Need help/guidance about creating a desktop application with gui

    I'm planning to do an Desktop application using Python, to learn some Desktop concepts. I'm going to use GTK or Qt, I still haven't decided which one. Fact is: I would like to create an application with the possibility to be called from command line, AND using a GUI. So it would be useful for cmd fans, and GUI users as well. It would be interesting to create a web interface too in the future, so it could be run in a server somewhere using an html interface created with a template language. I'm thinking about two approaches: - Creating a "model" with a simple interface which is called from a desktop/web implementation; - Creating a "model" with an html interface, and embeb a browser component so I could reuse all the code in both desktop/web scenarios. My question is: which exactly concepts are involved in this project? What advantages/disadvantages each approach has? Are they possible? By naming "interface", I'm planning to just do some interfaces.py files with def calls. Is this a bad approach? I would like to know some book recommendations, or resources to both options - or source code from projects which share the same GUI/cmd/web goals I'm after. Thanks in advance!

    Hi, I have a pretty big Javascript script with loads of global variables & functions in it. Then a piece of code that calls one function from this js file: myfunc(); Ok, now I have cloned this script and modified some functionality, all function prototypes and variables are named the same in both scripts. So now I have two scripts loaded and one call to myfunc(), now we have a clash because there are loads of global variables with the same names and two myfunc()s. What I want to do is wrap this cloned script in a namespace, so that I can modify the original call to: clone.myfunc() which will call the new function, but I also want myfunc() to just refer to the original script. In other words I can't touch the original script (no permissions) and I want to be able to use both the clone and the original at runtime. This is the script im cloning: http://pastebin.com/6KR5T3Ah Javascript namespaces seem quite tricky this seems a nice namespace method: var namespace = { foo: function() { } bar: function() { } } ... namespace.foo(); } However that requires using an object, and the script (as posted above) is humongous at nearly 4000 lines, too much to objectize I think? Anyone know a better solution to avoid namespace pollution, with one script I cant touch and one being a clone of that script. Just so I can call myfunc() and clone.myfunc() and all global variables will behave in their respected scope. It's either that, or I go through and modify everything to have unique names, which may take a lifetime This is a Mozilla addon if it helps context wise. Thanks.

    I need to deploy some Crystal Reports XI .dlls (craxdrt.dll, crviewer.dll) to client computers. Craxdrt.dll has many dependencies. I found out that the easiest way to go about this is to use the supplied merge modules. Having always relied on ClikOnce deployment I am at a total loss how to do this. If it matters: the .exe is written in VB6, but I have visual studio 2010 to make setup projects. Thanks!

    I'm trying to remove the unsightly embedded <STYLE> tag the built-in Recent Comments widget puts in my <HEAD>, but I can't seem to get the syntax right. It originally calls add_action( 'wp_head', array(&$this, 'recent_comments_style') ); to add it (in wp-includes/default-widgets.php, line 609), and I'm trying to undo it. I think it should be something like this: remove_action('wp_head', 'WP_Widget_Recent_Comments::recent_comments_style'); but with all the variations I've tried I still can't get it right.     I'm stuck on a query with a join. The client's site is running mysql4, so a subquery isn't an option. My attempts to rewrite using a join aren't going too well. I need to select all of the contractors listed in the contractors table who are not in the contractors2label table with a given label ID & county ID. Yet, they might be listed in contractors2label with other label and county IDs. Table: contractors cID (primary, autonumber) company (varchar) ...etc... Table: contractors2label cID labelID countyID psID This query with a subquery works: SELECT company, contractors.cID FROM contractors WHERE contractors.complete = 1 AND contractors.archived = 0 AND contractors.cID NOT IN ( SELECT contractors2label.cID FROM contractors2label WHERE labelID <> 1 AND countyID <> 1 ) I thought this query with a join would be the equivalent, but it returns no results. A manual scan of the data shows I should get 34 rows, which is what the subquery above returns. SELECT company, contractors.cID FROM contractors LEFT OUTER JOIN contractors2label ON contractors.cID = contractors2label.cID WHERE contractors.complete = 1 AND contractors.archived = 0 AND contractors2label.labelID <> 1 AND contractors2label.countyID <> 1 AND contractors2label.cID IS NULL

  • Help- CSS styles for text links also affecting image links

    I've been working on this one for about an hour now, and I'm about ready to pull my hair out. What seems like it should be a simple one or two lines of CSS apparently isn't. I have a Posterous blog with a custom theme I designed for a client, viewable here: http://phar-ma.com/ I obviously use CSS to style the text links in the posts. My problem is, the same styles are also being applied to images that have a larger version to view, since Posterous automatically turns them into links to the larger versions (the smaller images aren't turned into links). So basically I need to figure out how the return the styling of the link images to the same as the non-link images. Right now they have weird spacing and borders around them (because of the styles for the text links) and those change when you hover over them. They're also not centered correctly. I've tried just about every piece of CSS code I know, and I've had absolutely no luck. I also searched on Google and found this: http://perishablepress.com/press/2008/10/14/css-remove-link-underlines-borders-linked-images/ but still no luck with that either. So, if anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
