    I am trying to convert a void pointer to an array of classes in a callback function that only supports a void pointer as a means of passing paramaters to the callback. class person { std::string name, age; }; void callback (void *val) { for (int i = 0; i < 9; i++) { std::cout << (person [])val[i].name; } } int main() { person p[10]; callback((void*)p); } My goal is to be able to pass an array of the class person to the callback which then prints out the data such as their name and age. However, the compile does not like what I am doing and complains that error: request for member 'name' in 'val', which is of non-class type 'void*' How can I go about doing this?

So it actually works, however, I want to achieve this result by the command c$a<-10 (i.e. after that I want c$b to be equal to 20 as defined in the class in the logic of seta() function) How can I do it?

  • jquery, attaching objects (instead of string attribute) to an element

    Hi! I'm trying to build DOM with jQuery and fill it with data that is received with AJAX (data type = json). I'd like to also store this data as an object, attached to a specific DOM element. Does jQuery provide any method for this? The reason I want to do it is because only part of data is initially displayed; other data might be needed later, depending on user actions. I tried using attr(), but it stores a string "[object Object]" instead of an actual object: var div = $('<div/>'); div.attr('foo', {bar: 'foobar'}); alert(div.attr('foo')); // gives "[object Object]" alert(typeof div.attr('foo')); // gives "string" alert(div.attr('foo').bar); // gives "undefined" Another way to do this would be by "bypassing" jQuery (div[0].foo = {bar: 'foobar'};), though this seems to be a "dirty workaround", if jQuery happens to already support attaching objects. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Is there a more efficient way to apply a function to every instance in the class other than this? var textArray:Array = [ interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin1, interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin2, interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin3, interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin4, interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin5, interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin6, interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin7, //... ... ... interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin15 ]; for each (var interludeText:MovieClip in interludeBeginText) { interludeText.alpha = 0 //clear all text first } Also for some reason this doesn't work: interludes.interludeIntro.alpha = 0; It permanently turns that class invisible, even if I try to make specific instances visible later with: interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin1.alpha = 1; I have NO idea why the above doesn't work. I want to turn every single instance in the class interludeIntro invisible, but I want to turn specific instances visible later. (btw I have no idea how to insert code on this website, pressing "code" doesn't do anything, so pardon the bad formatting)

Depending on the user's input, I'd like to decide whether I'll call "hello_world" on Klass, or Klass2: class Klass def self.hello_world "Hello World from Klass1!" end end class Klass2 def self.hello_world "Hello World from Klass2!" end end input = gets.strip class_to_use = input puts class_to_use.send :hello_world The user inputs "Klass2" and the script should say: Hello World from Klass2! Obviously this code doesn't work, since I'm calling #hello_world on String, but I'd like to call #hello_world on Klass2. How do I "convert" the string into a referrence to Klass2 (or whatever the user might input), or how could I else would I achieve this behavior?

  • Why delegate types are derived from MulticastDelegate class why not it directly derive from Delegate class?

    I have a very basic question regarding delegate types. I compared the memebers of Delegate and MulticastDelegate classes in object browser and I couldn't find any new additional member present in MulticastDelegate. I also noticed that the Delegate class has GetInvocationList virtual method. So I assume that the Delegate class should have the capability to hold references to multiple methods. If my assumption is correct I wonder why not custom delegate types directly derive from the Delegate class instead of MulticastDelegate class. Not sure what I am missing here. Please help me understand the difference.

    I'm trying to store a user list in a config file. I've been looking at DictionarySectionHandler and NameValueSectionHandler. I'm not too sure what the difference between these two is, but anyway, neither of them do exactly what I'd like. You can add a custom config section like so: <configSections> <section name="userAges" type="System.Configuration.DictionarySectionHandler"/> </configSections> <userAges> <add key="userName1" value="10" /> <add key="userName2" value="52" /> <userAges> Which is ok, but actually I'd prefer to be able to write: ... <userAges> <add user="userName1" age="10" /> <add user="userName2" age="52" /> <userAges> Which I feel would make the config file clearer to anyone who needed to add/remove users in future. Is there an easy way to do this?

    I'm trying to create an actionscript class to serve as a data model for my Flex app. I already have a formatted XML file to read from, and when I was simply declaring the data service in my MXML app I used this code inside the declarations: I'm now trying to create a model class and can't seem to get the same functionality. I've tried importing mx.rpc.http.HTTPService but i think this is different. And using the XML class doesn't seem to allow the ability to define a source url. I'm assuming that I am able to declare a public var inside my class that will read this XML source file as I had done in the main app. If this is possible, how do I do it?

    I'm having a problem with a class like this: class Sprite { ... bool checkCollision(Sprite &spr); ... }; So, if I have that clase, I can do this: ball.checkCollision(bar1); But if I change the class to this: class Sprite { ... bool checkCollision(Sprite* spr); ... }; I have to do this: ball.checkCollision(&bar1); So, what's the difference??     I am implementing a FakeDataSet class by implementing IDbSet interface. As part of implementing this interface, I have to implement Find method. All my entity classes has an Guid type Id column. I am trying to implement Find method for this FakeDbSet class but having hard time to write it in a generic way. Below is my attempts for writing this method but since it does not know about Id been Guid type, I am getting compilation error on m.Id call. I have a select with options in a hierarchy sometimes, and I want to put attributes disabled to any of options containing text NOT starting with a dash.
