  • What challenges are there in making an iPhone IDE for Windows/Linux?

    First of all, is this possible? If so: What challenges would I encounter in making an XCode imitation for iPhone/iPod development for Windows or Linux? I was thinking about using gcc as the actual compiler for the objecitve-c. Will that work? It doesn't need to compile to iPhone OS until it is to be tested on the device or submitted to the app store. Perhaps it will be easier to compile to the local OS format (Windows or Linux) until "prime-time".

    Hi, I have MainActivity which is an Activity and other class(which is a simple java class), we`ll call it "SimpleClass". now i want to run from that class the command startActivityForResult. now i though that i could pass that class(SimpleClass), only MainActivity's context, problem is that, u cant run context.startActivityForResult(...); so the only way making SimpleClass to use 'startActivityForResult; is to pass the reference of MainActivity as an Activity variable to the SimpleClass something like that: inside the MainActivity class i create the instance of SimpleClass this way: SimpleClass simpleClass=new SimpleClass(MainActivity.this); now this is how SimpleClass looks like: public Class SimpleClass { Activity myMainActivity; public SimpleClass(Activity mainActivity) { super(); this.myMainActivity=mainActivity; } .... } public void someMethod(...) { myMainActivity.startActivityForResult(...); } now its working, but isnt a proper way of doing this?   • Core data, sorting one-to-many child objects

    So if I have a store of parents children and the parent has a one to many relationship to children (parent.children) and they all have first names. Now, on the initial fetch for parents I can specify a sort descriptor to get them back in order of first name but how can I request the children in order? If I do a [parent.children allObjects] it just gives them back in a jumble and I'd have to sort after the fact, every time. Thanks, Sam

    Hi, I'm currently working on a project using DSL tools in Visual Studio 2008. Is there a way to automatically add a resource into the solution explorer of the experimental hive at runtime? I'm creating new diagrams based on what is on screen, and saving them into the directory the project is stored in. I would like to know if there is a way to get them to automatically get added to the solution explorer? (I don't want to have to drag the files in manually each time)

  • Why would JmDNS service discovery work on a Motorola Droid running Android 2.1-update1 and not on an

    I have successfully gotten JmDNS working on Android 2.1 testing on a Motorola Droid by using MulticastLock, but recently got an HTC Incredible as second test device, and JmDNS discovery doesn't work at all. I should mention that broadcasting a service still works and everything appears to run normally, but serviceAdded() never gets called. Does anyone have thoughts on why this might be? I was thinking it might be a permission issue, but I don't get any exceptions...

  • custom cells uitableview - cannot display all the rows

    Hi guys, I'm creating a uitableview with custom cells which I created in Interface Builder. There are currently three cells (UITableViewCell). I have a UITableView which is on the view. The code I have is fairly standard, but I cannot work out how to actually SHOW the three custom cells. I am using the cellForRowAtIndexPath method. My aim is to get a grouped uitableview which shows like the following Item - Name Settings - alert - time So the above indented view should be my grouped uitableview. The problem is, I cannot get it to show using code. The uitableview will ALWAYS be this. I am trying to replicate the settings style screen... so I do not have any arrays to display the uitableview cells. How do I actually display my three cells? I have the following code - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return 2; } - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { if (section == 0) return 1; else return 2; } - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section { if(section == 0) return @"Item"; else return @"Settings"; } So all I need to know is how to actually display my custom cells inside the tableview!   • iPhone UINavigation Controller issue?

    I have 3 different xib's. I am able to go back and forth between view 1 and view 2 with the following code... This Code brings up the second view... -(IBAction)startButtonClicked:(id)sender{ self.gamePlayViewController = [[GamePlayViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"GamePlayViewController" bundle:nil]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:gamePlayViewController animated:YES]; [GamePlayViewController release]; } This Code is executed in the second view and brings me back to the first view... -(IBAction)backButtonClicked{ [self.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated:YES]; } Now when I try to execute this code (in the second view) to get to the third view...I get SIGABRT and the app crashes...why does it work for the first view bringing up the second view, but not for the second view bringing up the 3rd view? -(IBAction)nextView{ self.thirdViewController = [[ThirdViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"ThirdViewController" bundle:nil]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:thirdViewController animated:YES]; [thirdViewController release]; }

  • How to auto-increment reference number persistently when NSManagedObjects created in core-data.

    In my application i am using core-data to store information and saving these data to the server using web-connectivity i have to use MySql. Basically what i want to do is to keep track of number of NSManagedObject already created and Whenever i am adding new NSManagedObject, based on that counting it will assign the class a Int_value which will act as primary_key in MySql. For examaple, there are already 10 NSManagedobjects, and when i will add new one it will assign it "11" as primary_key. these value will have to be increasing because there is no deleting of NSManagedObject. From my approach its about static member in applicationDelegate whose initial value can be any integer but should be incremented by one(like auto-increment) everytime new NSManagedObject is created and also it should be persistent. I am not clear how to do this, please give me suggestions. Thanks in advance.

In that method I have the code above that resizes my image and at the end of the method I have a return newImage; The instruments show me a leak at line UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(targetSize); //instruments show here a leak 128bytes What am I doing wrong? Where exactly is the leak?

  • Iphone contact photo

    I tried to search an answer for this but couldn't find one. My iPhone application needs to access the Photo associated with the contact in the phonebook. However, it also needs to make sure that every time application is launched, it verifies that the photo is the same. So, in essence, I am trying to access the photo used by contacts database for a person's phone number or email address. - Is there a way for me to do this? Any help is appreciated.

    Hello all, First, let me state what brought this question about: I saw the green checkmark icon in this post and I would like to use it in my own application. However, since it looks so much like the UITableViewCellAccessoryDetailDisclosureButton my assumption is that this green checkmark icon is provided by the iPhone OS in some form or fashion. So, my question is: how can I use the green checkmark icon and/or other OS-provided images in my own applications? As a side question: where can I find a list of the OS-provided images (if they even exist)? Thanks very much for any input :-)

    hi all, i've a little problem, i've add a default.png in my app and it work. I've modify my file, delete file and reference and upload my new file. On my iphone the image does not appear, only some second of blackscreen and after my app start. In the simulator the splashscreen appear. I've try to delete my app on iphone, make a clean all and rebuild & install but nothing... I've try to make clean all, close xcode, delete default.png to my project directory (sometimes exist, sometimes no), open xcode, add my file and build & install on my iphone but nothing... Any ideas?

    I am receiving a SecurityException since yesterday when I launch the service using signature protection level for permission with the default debug keystore. The strange thing is I wasn't receiving this error before yesterday and I didn't make any security related change. On the other hand, my own keystore using for releases is still working good.
