  • How to tell when an HTML textarea has been changed by Javascript

    - by at
    A widget I'm using modifies an HTML textarea element. I need to know when that element has been modified and preferably I'd like to actually hide that element as well. I'm using jQuery, so I naturally tried the $('#textarea_id').change() event. But it's never triggered because I guess the textarea never loses focus. What's the best way to monitor that textarea, preferably hidden (css has display:none)? Please don't tell me setInterval...

  • Send an onclick to a dropdown list

    - by P Nelson
    Is it possible to show the list of items in a dropdown list when the user presses the up or down arrow keys, when focus is on that dropdown control? I think this would involve sending an onclick to the dropdown list using onkeydown for Keycode 38(arrow up) & 40(arrow down)? But I cannot figure out how to do this.

  • DataGridView Cell Validating only when 'Enter' is pressed

    - by Eldad
    Hi, I want to validate and commit the value entered in the DataGridViewCell ONLY when the user presses the 'Enter' key. If the users presses any other key or mouse button (Arrow keys, Pressing a different cell using the mouse...), I want the behavior to be similar to the 'ESC' key: Move the focus to the new cell and revert the edited cell value to its previous value.

  • D3 fisheye on width on bar chart

    - by Dexter Tan
    i have been trying to create a vertical bar chart with a d3 fisheye cartesian distortion with only the x-axis being distorted. I have succeeded in distorting the x position of the vertical bars on mouseover with the following code: var maxMag = d3.max(dataset, function(d) { return d.value[10]; }); var minDate = d3.min(dataset, function(d) { return new Date(d.value[1], d.value[2]-1, d.value[3]).getTime(); }); var maxDate = d3.max(dataset, function(d) { return new Date(d.value[1], d.value[2]-1, d.value[3]).getTime(); }); var yScale = d3.scale.linear().domain([0, maxMag]).range([0, h]); var xScale = d3.fisheye.scale(d3.scale.linear).domain([minDate, maxDate]).range([0, w]).focus(w/2); var bar = svg.append("g") .attr("class", "bars") .selectAll(".bar") .data(dataset) .enter().append("rect") .attr("class", "bar") .attr("y", function(d) { return h - yScale(d.value[10]); }) .attr("width", w/dataset.length) .attr("height", function(d) { return yScale(d.value[10]); }) .attr("fill", function(d) { return (d.value[10] <= 6? "yellow" : "orange" ); }) .call(position); // Positions the bars based on data. function position(bar) { bar.attr("x", function(d) { var date = null; if (d.date != null) { date = d.date; } else { date = new Date(d.value[1],0,1); if (d.value[2] != null) date.setMonth(d.value[2]-1); if (d.value[3] != null) date.setMonth(d.value[3]); d.date = date; } return xScale(date.getTime()); }); } svg.on("mousemove", function() { var mouse = d3.mouse(this); xScale.distortion(2.5).focus(mouse[0]); bar.call(position); }); However at this point, applying fisheye on the width remains a mystery to me. I have tried several methods like using a fisheye scale for width however it does not work as expected. What i wish to do is to have the width of a bar expand on mouseover, the same way a single vertical bar is singled out on mouseover with the cartesian distortion. Any clues or help will be much appreciated! edit: http://dexter.xumx.me to view the visualisation i am talking about for easier understanding!

  • Jquery ui slide content along with scroll bar

    - by Linas
    Well i'm totaly lost here, i am using jquery ui sliderwidget to make this quite simple menu but i just can't figure out a basic formula to make menu items slide along with with scroll bar. Here is jsfiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/n2H6Q/4/ Please keep in mind that content height can change to any value that's why i have use random height, and container height can as well change to any value, that's why it is so difficult for me to figure out how to deal with all these numbers... Any kind of help would be very much appreciated.

  • Using Javascript, How do I bring an already existing open window to the front on top of other window

    - by user268249
    The question was fairly descriptive but I'll describe it further. Basically, I have Window1, clicking a button link opens window2. Clicking a button in window2 opens window3, clicking a button in window3 should bring window2 back to the front of the screen on top of window2. I'm not sure how this is exactly done, however I have used and played around with focus(), opener and other various methods and I cannot seem to get it to work properly. Thanks for any help in advance!

  • Cepstral Analysis for pitch detection

    - by Ohmu
    Hi! I'm looking to extract pitches from a sound signal. Someone on IRC just explain to me how taking a double FFT achieves this. Specifically: take FFT take log of square of absolute value (can be done with lookup table) take another FFT take absolute value I am attempting this using vDSP I can't understand how I didn't come across this technique earlier. I did a lot of hunting and asking questions; several weeks worth. More to the point, I can't understand why I didn't think of it. I am attempting to achieve this with vDSP library. it looks as though it has functions to handle all of these tasks. However, I'm wondering about the accuracy of the final result. I have previously used a technique which scours the frequency bins of a single FFT for local maxima. when it encounters one, it uses a cunning technique (the change in phase since the last FFT) to more accurately place the actual peak within the bin. I am worried that this precision will be lost with this technique I'm presenting here. I guess the technique could be used after the second FFT to get the fundamental accurately. But it kind of looks like the information is lost in step 2. as this is a potentially tricky process, could someone with some experience just look over what I'm doing and check it for sanity? also, I've heard there is an alternative technique involving fitting a quadratic over neighbouring bins. Is this of comparable accuracy? if so, I would favour it, as it doesn't involve remembering bin phases. so questions: does this approach makes sense? Can it be improved? I'm a bit worried about And the log square component; there seems to be a vDSP function to do exactly that: vDSP_vdbcon however, there is no indication it precalculates a log-table -- I assume it doesn't, as the FFT function requires an explicit pre-calculation function to be called and passed into it. and this function doesn't. Is there some danger of harmonics being picked up? is there any cunning way of making vDSP pull out the maxima, biggest first? Can anyone point me towards some research or literature on this technique? the main question: is it accurate enough? Can the accuracy be improved? I have just been told by an expert that the accuracy IS INDEED not sufficient. Is this the end of the line? Pi PS I get SO annoyed (npi) when I want to create tags, but cannot. :| I have suggested to the maintainers that SO keep track of attempted tags, but I'm sure I was ignored. we need tags for vDSP, accelerate framework, cepstral analysis

  • Cocoa Touch best practice for capturing/logging/diagnosing crashes

    - by Dylan
    As I get closer to releasing my first public iPhone app I'm concerned about catching crashes in the field. I'm curious to hear how others have gone about this. I'm not sure what's possible outside of the debugger. Is all lost with an EXC_BAD_ACCESS or can I still catch it and get something useful into a log? Is the program main() the spot to put a @try/@catch?

But still not working this code also no any error in console also. code is here for your help. function getRoute(){ var from_text = document.getElementById("travelFrom").value; var to_text = document.getElementById("travelTo").value; if(from_text == ""){ alert("Enter travel from field") document.getElementById("travelFrom").focus(); } else if(to_text == ""){ alert("Enter travel to field"); document.getElementById("travelTo").focus(); } else{ //google.maps.event.addListener(map, "", function (e) { var myLatLng = new google.maps.LatLng(28.6667, 77.2167); var mapOptions = { zoom: 3, center: myLatLng, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.TERRAIN }; var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById('map-canvas'), mapOptions); var geocoder = new google.maps.Geocoder(); var address1 = from_text; var address2 = to_text; var from_latlng,to_latlng; //var prepath = path; //if(prepath){ // prepath.setMap(null); //} geocoder.geocode( { 'address': address1}, function(results, status) { if (status == google.maps.GeocoderStatus.OK) { // do something with the geocoded result // alert(results[0].geometry.location); from_latlng = results[0].geometry.location; // from_lat = results[0].geometry.location.latitude; // from_lng = results[0].geometry.location.longitude; // alert(from_latlng); } }); geocoder.geocode( { 'address': address2}, function(results, status) { if (status == google.maps.GeocoderStatus.OK) { // do something with the geocoded result to_latlng = results[0].geometry.location; // to_lat = results[0].geometry.location.latitude; // to_lng = results[0].geometry.location.longitude; // results[0].geometry.location.longitude // alert(to_latlng) } }); setTimeout(function(){ var flightPlanCoordinates = [ new google.maps.LatLng(from_latlng), new google.maps.LatLng(to_latlng) ]; //alert("123") var polyline; polyline = new google.maps.Polyline({ path: flightPlanCoordinates, strokeColor: "#FF0000", strokeOpacity: 1.0, strokeWeight: 2 }); polyline.setMap(map); // assign to global var path // path = polyline; },4000); // }); } }

    Any experiences on how to document Entity Framework 4 based Database projects? There is the Document and Summary properties on the Entities, but if we want to regenerate the model from the database at some point, it will be lost! Is there some way to map documentation data inside SQL to the Entities in the EDMX file so it is safe. Suggestions of other best practices? Ideally I want to be able to augo generate html/helpfile documentation from the DB when we deploy.
