  • New Procurement Report for Transportation Sourcing

    Welcome to our fourth annual transportation procurement benchmark report. American Shipper, in partnership with the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) and the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), surveyed roughly 275 transportation buyers and sellers on procurement practices, processes, technologies and results. Some key findings: • Manual, spreadsheet-based procurement processes remain the most prevalent among transportation buyers, with 42 percent of the total • Another 25 percent of respondents use a hybrid platform, which presumably means these buyers are using spreadsheets for at least one mode and/or geography • Only 23 percent of buyers are using a completely systems-based approach of some kind • Shippers were in a holding pattern with regards to investment in procurement systems the past year • Roughly three-quarters of survey respondents report that transportation spend has increased in 2012, although the pace has declined slightly from last year’s increases • Nearly every survey respondent purchases multiple modes of transportation • The number of respondents with plans to address technology to support the procurement process has increased in 2012. About one quarter of respondents who do not have a system report they have a budget for this investment in the next two years.

    Want to drag and drop Java code snippets into the palette, in the same way as can be done for HTML files? If so, create a new module and add a class with the content below and you're done. You'll be able to select a piece of Java code, drag it into the palette (Ctrl-Shift-8 to open it), where you'll be able to set a name, tooltip, and icons for the snippet, and then you'll be able to drag it out of the palette into any Java files you like. Run the module. Open a Java source file and the palette will automatically open. Drag some code into the palette and a dialog will pop up asking for some details like display name and icons. Then the snippet will be in the palette and you'll be able to drag and drop it anywhere you like.   • New Exam Score Report Process Coming Soon

    Hi Everyone! I want to give you a preview of a process change that will be coming in the next few weeks. We will soon announce a change in the way that Oracle certification candidates receive their exam scores and score reports (after they take an exam). Once the change occurs you will need to have an Oracle Web Account (in order to access your exam score). This is the account that is used to log into the Oracle website for things such as OTN access, software downloads and other Oracle services. If you already have an Oracle Web Account then you are already in good shape!   • Dotted subdomain name or new domain?

    I have a company website hosted at www.BRAND.com (where BRAND is a generic name). The company want to develop a "micro website" for one of their campaigns, named "Inspired By BRAND". I have two directions: inspired.by.BRAND.com - which I personally don't like too much. I don't know why but I don't recall any web address similar to this one subdomain.subdomain.domain.com. inspired.BRAND.com - which I this is best suited for it. Fewer dots and similar to "more friendly" addresses subdomain.domain.com. Any hints, guidelines, any thoughts is well appreciated. Thanks in advance

  • Unable to boot Ubuntu with new Kernel but it works fine with old kernel

    I recently acquired a Samsung Series 9-900x3c and installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on it. Now I wanted to upgrade to the most recent kernel and after grabbing the packages from kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ and installing them via dpkg Ubuntu fails to boot. I can select the appropriate Kernel version in grub but when I try to launch the Ubuntu with kernel 3.6 nothing happens. On the other hand Kernel 3.2.x works fine for me. Any suggestions what I can do to use the most recent Kernel? Thanks a lot in advance. Cheers JO

  • Copying and pasting files. Nothing new here

    I installed XBMC and it's working beautifully. I have my own skin I'd like to use and all I should have to do is copy and past my skin.folder into the addons folder and I'm down. However, this isn't so easy with Ubuntu. I have the latest version, installed today 11-14-2012 Could someone please spell out the command process to make this happen? I've read through so many forums, tried ssh, I know now I'm getting into things that could be dangerous so any help would be much appreciated.
