  • Undo/Redo using Memento: Stack, Queue or just LinkedList?

    - by serhio
    What is the best having when implementing Memento pattern (for Undo/Redo) in witch collection to Keep Mementos? Basically, I need this(c = change, u = undo, r = redo): 0 *c -1 0 *c -2 -1 0 *c -3 -2 -1 0 <u -2 -1 0 1 *c -3 -2 -1 0 Variants: LinkedList - possible in principle, maybe not optimized. Queue - not adapted for this task, IMO. Stack - not adapted for undo AND redo; Double Stack - maybe optimal, but can't control the undo maximum size.

  • Any Free Alternative to the ASP.net Calendar Control?

    - by Ronnie Overby
Here are the problems I am having with the control from the factory: no easy way to get the first visible date (yeah I could use day render, but at that point in the page cycle, I can't do what I need to, which is manipulate a collection in viewstate) changing the visibledate property in my code does not raise the visiblemonthchanged event. That just doesn't make any sense to me. Can someone suggest a free, improved calendar control?

    - by John
Hi all, I have around 8000 xml files that needs to be converted into text files. In other words, i need to create 8000 text files containing the title, description and keywords of the xml file. I need codings for this to be done systematically. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Hey all thank you all so so much with your replies. Here's a sample of what my xml looks like: <?xml version="1.0"?> <metadata> <identifier>43productionsNightatthegraveyard</identifier> <title>Night at the graveyard</title> <collection>opensource_movies</collection> <mediatype>movies</mediatype> <resource>movies</resource> <upload_application appid="ccPublisher" version="2.2.1"/> <uploader>[email protected]</uploader> <description>una noche en el cementerio (terror)</description> <license>http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/</license> <title>Night at the graveyard</title> <format>Video</format> <adder>[email protected]</adder> <licenseurl>http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/</licenseurl> <year>2007</year> <keywords>Night,at,the,graveyard,43,productions</keywords> <holder>43 productions</holder> <publicdate>2007-04-11 19:52:28</publicdate> </metadata> And this would be the output: una noche en el cementerio (terror) Night at the graveyard Night,at,the,graveyard,43,productions This need to be saved with the same name but in text format. Thanks all so much if any more suggestions would be much appreciated.

  • How to add a new custom resource to routes Rails 3

    - by Jeroen janssen
How do I add a custom route for a new resource in the Rails 3 routes? I know how to do it for collections and members but this style doesn't seem to be working for new resources. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? So these work: collection do get :wish end member do get :wish end But this doesn't work: new do get :wish end

  • How to find out if an object is of <type> or a decendant of <type>

    - by Vaccano
I have the following code: foreach (var control in this.Controls) { } I want to do something like control.Hide() in there. But the items in the this.Controls collection are not of type Control (they are Object). I can't seem to remember the safe way to cast this to call hide if it is really of type Control and do nothing otherwise. (I am a transplanted delphi programmer and I keep thinking something like control is Control.)

  • Resources for Windows Phone 7 development

    - by geocoin
Windows Phone 7 has just been unveiled and right now there is no publicly available information to non-privileged developers/partners. MS are announcing all details of the development chain at the Mix10 conference. So until then this could be a good starting point/collection of online resources as they appear EDIT: I've added the speculation tag so we can also accumulate speculation. Please mark speculative posts as such. once firm details are announced we can confirm or delete them

  • WPF DataGrid, Help with Binding to a List<X> where each X has a Dictionary<Y,object> property.

    - by panamack
I'm building an application which helps someone manage an event and works with data originating from Excel. I want to use the WPF Toolkit DataGrid to display the incoming data but can't guarantee how many Columns there are going to be or what information they will contain. I'd like to have an Info class that stores column information and have each Visitor at my Event own a Dictionary that uses shared references to Info objects for the keys. Here's the general gist: public class Info{ public string Name{get;set;} public int InfoType{get;set;} } public class Visitor{ public Dictionary<Info, object> VisitorInfo {get;set;} } public class Event{ public List<Visitor> Visitors{get;set;} public Event(){ Info i1 = new Info(){ Name = "ID", InfoType = 0};// type 0 for an id Info i2 = new Info(){ Name = "Name", InfoType = 1};// type 1 for a string Info i3 = new Info(){ Name = "City", InfoType = 1}; Visitor v1 = new Visitor(); v1.VisitorInfo.Add(i1, 0); v1.VisitorInfo.Add(i2, "Foo Harris"); v1.VisitorInfo.Add(i3, "Barsville"); Visitor v2 = new Visitor(); ... this.Visitors.Add(v1); this.Visitors.Add(v2); ... } } XAML: <!-- Window1.xaml --> ... <local:Event x:Key="MyEvent"/> ... <wpftk:DataGrid DataContext="{StaticResource MyEvent}" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Visitors}" /> Disappointingly, DataGrid just sees a collection of Visitors each having a VisitorInfo property and displays one column called VisitorInfo with the string "(Collection)" once for each Visitor. As a workaround I've created a ListTVisitorToDataTableConverter that maps Infos to DataColumns and Visitors to DataRows and used it like this: <wpftk:DataGrid DataContext="{StaticResource Event}" ItemsSource{Binding Path=Visitors, Converter={StaticResource MySmellyListTVisitorToDataTableConverter}}" /> I don't think this is good though, I haven't started trying to convert back yet which I guess I'll need to do if I want to be able to edit any data! How can I do better? Thanks.

  • Linq to SQL - Returning two values with one query

    - by Sir Psycho
Hi, Is it possible to return a single value and an enumerable collection using LINQ to SQL? The problem is, I'm trying to do paging across a large recordset. I only want to return 10 rows at a time so I'm using .Skip(20).Take(10) approach. However I need to know the total number of records so I can show an appropriate page x of y. Trying to avoid two separate queries. Thanks

  • C#: Immutable view of a list's objects?

    - by Rosarch
I have a list, and I want to provide read-only access to a collection containing its contents. How can I do this? Something like: public ICollection<Foo> ImmutableViewOfInventory() { IList<Foo> inventory = new List<Foo>(); inventory.add(new Foo()); return inventory.ImmutableView(); } Additionally, an immutable IEnumerable would also be fine.

  • Can I turn off inline syntax checking in the Office 2003 VBA editor?

    - by ChristianLinnell
As anybody who uses VBA in Office 2003 will know, it has the extremely frustrating tendency to do a syntax check every time you click off a line. For example, if I start writing a line of code, I might go > For Each application In And then think "crap, what's the application collection called?" So I'll hit "page up" to find it, and get (in this case) a "Compile Error". Can I turn this off?

  • C - How to implement Set data structure?

    - by psihodelia
Is there any tricky way to implement a set data structure (a collection of unique values) in C? All elements in a set will be of the same type and there is a huge RAM memory. As I know, for integers it can be done really fast'N'easy using value-indexed arrays. But I'd like to have a very general Set data type. And it would be nice if a set could include itself.

  • Unit Testing - Am I doing it right?

    - by baron
    Hi everyone, Basically I have been programing for a little while and after finishing my last project can fully understand how much easier it would have been if I'd have done TDD. I guess I'm still not doing it strictly as I am still writing code then writing a test for it, I don't quite get how the test becomes before the code if you don't know what structures and how your storing data etc... but anyway... Kind of hard to explain but basically lets say for example I have a Fruit objects with properties like id, color and cost. (All stored in textfile ignore completely any database logic etc) FruitID FruitName FruitColor FruitCost 1 Apple Red 1.2 2 Apple Green 1.4 3 Apple HalfHalf 1.5 This is all just for example. But lets say I have this is a collection of Fruit (it's a List<Fruit>) objects in this structure. And my logic will say to reorder the fruitids in the collection if a fruit is deleted (this is just how the solution needs to be). E.g. if 1 is deleted, object 2 takes fruit id 1, object 3 takes fruit id2. Now I want to test the code ive written which does the reordering, etc. How can I set this up to do the test? Here is where I've got so far. Basically I have fruitManager class with all the methods, like deletefruit, etc. It has the list usually but Ive changed hte method to test it so that it accepts a list, and the info on the fruit to delete, then returns the list. Unit-testing wise: Am I basically doing this the right way, or have I got the wrong idea? and then I test deleting different valued objects / datasets to ensure method is working properly. [Test] public void DeleteFruit() { var fruitList = CreateFruitList(); var fm = new FruitManager(); var resultList = fm.DeleteFruitTest("Apple", 2, fruitList); //Assert that fruitobject with x properties is not in list ? how } private static List<Fruit> CreateFruitList() { //Build test data var f01 = new Fruit {Name = "Apple",Id = 1, etc...}; var f02 = new Fruit {Name = "Apple",Id = 2, etc...}; var f03 = new Fruit {Name = "Apple",Id = 3, etc...}; var fruitList = new List<Fruit> {f01, f02, f03}; return fruitList; }

  • Object responsibilities - list and item

    - by Mark Tyler
My question is more like a theoretical. Say you have an object, that represents the list of something (articles, pages, accounts etc.) class ObjCollection You have a class, that represents a specific item in collection: class objItem I have a problem thinking of a basic responsibilities of each object. Which class is responsible for creating a new objItem? Which class is responsible for deleting a objItem? Should it delete itself as a method?

  • Best practice? - Array/Dictionary as a Core Data Entity Attribute

    - by Run Loop
I am new to Core Data. I have noticed that collection types are not available as attribute types and would like to know what the most efficient way is of storing array/dictionary type data as an attribute (e.g. the elements that make up an address like street, city, etc. does not require a separate entity and is more conveniently stored as a dictionary/array than separate attributes/fields). Thank you.

  • post object to wcf rest service

    - by gleasonomicon
I'm using the WCF Rest service application project template in visual studio. I'm just learning about REST, and I was wondering how I would post a SampleItem object to the following method: [WebInvoke(UriTemplate = "", Method = "POST")] public SampleItem Create(SampleItem instance) { // TODO: Add the new instance of SampleItem to the collection throw new NotImplementedException(); } I get the general concepts of gets for the purposes of grabbing data, but I'm not sure how I would post the object in code (or just through a browser for testing) to the service.
