  • Django sub-applications & module structure

    - by Rob Golding
    I am developing a Django application, which is a large system that requires multiple sub-applications to keep things neat. Therefore, I have a top level directory that is a Django app (as it has an empty models.py file), and multiple subdirectories, which are also applications in themselves. The reason I have laid my application out in this way is because the sub-applications are separated, but they would never be used on their own, outside the parent application. It therefore makes no sense to distribute them separately. When installing my application, the settings file has to include something like this: INSTALLED_APPS = ( ... 'myapp', 'myapp.subapp1', 'myapp.subapp2', ... ) ...which is obviously suboptimal. This also has the slightly nasty result of requiring that all the sub-applications are referred to by their "inner" name (i.e. subapp1, subapp2 etc.). For example, if I want to reset the database tables for subapp1, I have to type: python manage.py reset subapp1 This is annoying, especially because I have a sub-app called core - which is likely to conflict with another application's name when my application is installed in a user's project. Am I doing this completely wrongly, or is there away to force these "inner" apps to be referred to by their full name?

  • getting sql records

    - by droidus
    when i run this code, it returns the topic fine... $query = mysql_query("SELECT topic FROM question WHERE id = '$id'"); if(mysql_num_rows($query) > 0) { $row = mysql_fetch_array($query) or die(mysql_error()); $topic = $row['topic']; } but when I change it to this, it doesn't run at all. why is this happening? $query = mysql_query("SELECT topic, lock FROM question WHERE id = '$id'"); if(mysql_num_rows($query) > 0) { $row = mysql_fetch_array($query) or die(mysql_error()); $topic = $row['topic']; $lockedThread = $row['lock']; echo "here: " . $lockedThread; }

  • How can I make this REGEX cleaner?

    - by Solignis
    I have this regex I made to compare OS names to a line in a VMX file. It started out as seperate elsif statments but I ended up making into a single if statment. Anyhow here is the code, I am trying to find a way to make the code cleaner but it put each match on a seperate line it no longer works. elsif ($vmx_file =~ m/guestOSAltName\s+=\s"Microsoft\sWindows\sServer\s2003,Web\sEdition"|"Microsoft\sWindows\sSmall\sBusiness\sServer\s2003"|"Microsoft\sWindows\s2000\sAdvanced\sServer"|"Microsoft\sWindows\s2000\sServer"|"Microsoft\sWindows\s2000\sProfessional"|"Microsoft\sWindows\s98"|"Microsoft\sWindows\s95"|"Microsoft\sWindows\sNT\s4"/) { $virtual_machines{$vm}{"Architecture"} = "32-bit";

  • I just need one dependent module , but don't need its dependencies (Maven)

    - by smallufo
    In my project , there is a spring XML config that utilizes ehcache to cache method returns. xml snippet : http://www.springmodules.org/schema/ehcache http://www.springmodules.org/schema/cache/springmodules-ehcache.xsd <ehcache:config configLocation="classpath:ehcache.xml"/> <ehcache:proxy id="explainRetriever" refId="explainRetrieverImpl"> <ehcache:caching methodName="get*" cacheName="explainCache"/> </ehcache:proxy> but in runtime , server complains it cannot find definitions of http://www.springmodules.org/schema/ehcache , I know I have to add "spring-modules-cache.jar" to WEB-INF/lib directory. But my project is maintained by maven , if I add "spring-modules-cache" to the runtime dependency , it will bring a lot of dependencies to my WAR file , filling my WAR with a lot of unnecessary jars. I just need one declaration in it , not all of its dependencies ... Is there any way to tell maven not to include its dependencies to the project ? Or ... another way , when packaging WAR , just copy another prepared spring-modules-cache.jar to WEB-INF/lib , how to do this ? Thanks !

  • How to print lines from a file that have repeated more than six times

    - by Mike
    I have a file containing the data shown below. The first comma-delimited field may be repeated any number of times, and I want to print only the lines after the sixth repetition of any value of this field For example, there are eight fields with 1111111 as the first field, and I want to print only the seventh and eighth of these records Input file: 1111111,aaaaaaaa,14 1111111,bbbbbbbb,14 1111111,cccccccc,14 1111111,dddddddd,14 1111111,eeeeeeee,14 1111111,ffffffff,14 1111111,gggggggg,14 1111111,hhhhhhhh,14 2222222,aaaaaaaa,14 2222222,bbbbbbbb,14 2222222,cccccccc,14 2222222,dddddddd,14 2222222,eeeeeeee,14 2222222,ffffffff,14 2222222,gggggggg,14 3333333,aaaaaaaa,14 3333333,bbbbbbbb,14 3333333,cccccccc,14 3333333,dddddddd,14 3333333,eeeeeeee,14 3333333,ffffffff,14 3333333,gggggggg,14 3333333,hhhhhhhh,14 Output: 1111111,gggggggg,14 1111111,hhhhhhhh,14 2222222,gggggggg,14 3333333,gggggggg,14 3333333,hhhhhhhh,14 What I have tried is to transponse the 2nd and 3rd fields with respect to 1st, so that I can use nawk on the field of $7 or $8 #!/usr/bin/ksh awk -F"," '{ a[$1]; b[$1]=b[$1]","$2 c[$1]=c[$1]","$3} END{ for(i in a){ print i","b[i]","c[i]} } ' file > output.txt

  • Emulating Test::More::done_testing - what is the most idiomatic way?

    - by DVK
    I have to build unit tests for in environment with a very old version of Test::More (perl5.8 with $Test::More::VERSION being '0.80') which predates the addition of done_testing(). Upgrading to newer Test::More is out of the question for practical reasons. And I am trying to avoid using no_tests - it's generally a bad idea not catching when your unit test dies prematurely. What is the most idiomatic way of running a configurable amount of tests, assuming no no_tests or done_testing() is used? Details: My unit tests usually take the form of: use Test::More; my @test_set = ( [ "Test #1", $param1, $param2, ... ] ,[ "Test #1", $param1, $param2, ... ] # ,... ); foreach my $test (@test_set) { run_test($test); } sub run_test { # $expected_tests += count_tests($test); ok(test1($test)) || diag("Test1 failed"); # ... } The standard approach of use Test::More tests => 23; or BEGIN {plan tests => 23} does not work since both are obviously executed before @tests is known. My current approach involves making @tests global and defining it in the BEGIN {} block as follows: use Test::More; BEGIN { our @test_set = (); # Same set of tests as above my $expected_tests = 0; foreach my $test (@tests) { my $expected_tests += count_tests($test); } plan tests = $expected_tests; } our @test_set; # Must do!!! Since first "our" was in BEGIN's scope :( foreach my $test (@test_set) { run_test($test); } # Same sub run_test {} # Same I feel this can be done more idiomatically but not certain how to improve. Chief among the smells is the duplicate our @test_test declarations - in BEGIN{} and after it.

  • What's the proper way to fork() in FastCGI ?

    - by eugene y
    I have an app running under Catalyst+FastCGI. And I want it to fork() to do some work in background. I used this code for plain CGI long ago: defined(my $pid = fork) or die "Can't fork: $!"; if ($pid) { # print response exit 0; } die "Can't start a new session: $!" if setsid == -1; close STDIN or die $!; close STDOUT or die $!; close STDERR or die $!; # do some work in background I tried some variations on this under FastCGI but with no success. How should forking be done under FastCGI?

  • In what circumstances are instance variables declared as '_var' in 'use fields' readonly?

    - by Pedro Silva
    I'm trying to understand the behavior of the fields pragma, which I find poorly documented, regarding fields prefixed with underscores. This is what the documentation has to say about it: Field names that start with an underscore character are made private to the class and are not visible to subclasses. Inherited fields can be overridden but will generate a warning if used together with the -w switch. This is not consistent with its actual behavior, according to my test, below. Not only are _-prefixed fields visible within a subclass, they are visible within foreign classes as well (unless I don't get what 'visible' means). Also, directly accessing the restricted hash works fine. Where can I find more about the behavior of the fields pragma, short of going at the source code? { package Foo; use strict; use warnings; use fields qw/a _b __c/; sub new { my ( $class ) = @_; my Foo $self = fields::new($class); $self->a = 1; $self->b = 2; $self->c = 3; return $self; } sub a : lvalue { shift->{a} } sub b : lvalue { shift->{_b} } sub c : lvalue { shift->{__c} } } { package Bar; use base 'Foo'; use strict; use warnings; use Data::Dumper; my $o = Bar->new; print Dumper $o; ##$VAR1 = bless({'_b' => 2, '__c' => 3, 'a' => 1}, 'Foo'); $o->a = 4; $o->b = 5; $o->c = 6; print Dumper $o; ##$VAR1 = bless({'_b' => 5, '__c' => 6, 'a' => 4}, 'Foo'); $o->{a} = 7; $o->{_b} = 8; $o->{__c} = 9; print Dumper $o; ##$VAR1 = bless({'_b' => 8, '__c' => 9, 'a' => 7}, 'Foo'); }

  • Who to contact regarding DBD::Advantage & bugs

    - by WarheadsSE
    I am in search of who specifically to contact at Sybase regarding Advantage Database Server's DBI driver, specifically DBD::Advantage. The only reference I can find is to one 'lancesc' in the README, but there are no references to a contact email, CPAN author etc. Inadvertantly I happened upon one StackOverflow user lancesc here. Would anyone happen to know who to contact regarding this? I do wish this was on CPAN. I've found a small bug regarding column quoting in the sql parser that they'd likely prefer to be made aware of. There are also several questions I have for them regarding failing functionality.

  • Can I customize the indentation of ternary operators in emacs' cperl-mode?

    - by Ryan Thompson
    In emacs cperl-mode, ternary operators are not treated specially. If you break them over multiple lines, cperl-mode simply indents each line the same way it indents any continued statement, like this: $result = ($foo == $bar) ? 'result1' : ($foo == $baz) ? 'result2' : ($foo == $qux) ? 'result3' : ($foo == $quux) ? 'result4' : fail_result; This is not very readable. Is there some way that I can convince cperl-mode indent like this? $result = ($foo == $bar) ? 'result1' : ($foo == $baz) ? 'result2' : ($foo == $qux) ? 'result3' : ($foo == $quux) ? 'result4' : fail_result; By the way, code example from this question.

  • How to route translated URLs to a module with nitrogen

    - by niahoo
    I used to develop in English, but this time, the webApp i'm building is only for people in my city, which is in France. In nitrogen, when you call "/user/login", nitrogen calls user_login:main(). I would like nitrogen to call user_login:main() when the request is "/utilisateur/connexion". I would like nitrogen to call ads_people:main() when the request is "/annonces/personnes", etc. Is there a way to achieve that properly ? Many thanks !
