  • Block all third party domains from web pages

    When I'm browsing the web, I'd like to not be tracked by any third party services like Facebook or Google. For instance, if I visit somepage.com I don't want my browser requesting things from facebook.com unless I allow it. However, if I visit facebook.com, Facebook still works. Does anyone know of a Chrome or Firefox extension that will allow me to do this? AdBlock in Chrome doesn't seem to work because it just hides the web page elements, it doesn't stop the browser from downloading them. I imagine that some kind of proxy/browser extension hybrid would be the best. Any suggestions? Thank you.

  • PHP pages are not parsed by Apache on CentOS

    I have installed Centos 5.x, Apache 2.2, PHP 5.3 and MySQL 5.5. I also installed phpMyAdmin. I am able to access phpMyAdmin through the browser without any issues. However, when I create a simple index.php with phpinfo() function in the default directory, that page is served without php parsing. As we all know, phpMyAdmin is a php application. This is working fine from the same server but not the simple php page from the doc root directory ??!!!. Of course, I tried moving this page into phpMyAdmin folder and tried accessing it, but no success. Please note that I updated httpd.conf file with appropriate directives based on the php installation guide.Following directives were added to httpd.conf.   • Project not publishing start/finish date for custom TFS work items

    I've got a TFS 2012 project set up with custom work items, that include Start and Finish date read-only fields (Microsoft.VSTS.Scheduling.StartDate and FinishDate). When I publish one of those custom work items from within Office Project, it does not populate those fields the same way as when I publish a Task work item (builtin TFS work item). I've looked at the transitions in the work items, and also the TFS project field mapping XML file but can't find anything that explains the difference in behaviour. What am I missing?

  • Force firefox to open pages in a specific tab using command line

    Hey Guys, Here's the challenge--I developed Softphone Screenpop PHP App that takes caller id info and searches for a match in our db, also allows us to collect call statistics. Great for our management but it's driving our reps nuts. We use firefox here and when our softphone pops to the external page, every time it opens in a new tab, the girls quickly get 5-10 open and it becomes confusing. Our softphone will also run command line. I wondering if there is a way to have a URL open in a certain tab. Otherwise does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks!

Say if my site has the domains mysite.com, section1.com and section2.com. If the user comes from section1.com the user should get mysite.com/section1/ it should not be redirected, it should be rewritten like this : mysite.com/section1/something should become section1.com/something mysite.com/section1/another should become section1.com/another Same way if the user is coming from section2.com the content served should be mysite.com/section2/ and the domain rewritten like mysite.com/section2/something should become section2.com/something mysite.com/section2/another should become section2.com/another

If I remove the import and the reference to "xsd:schema" respectively then the binding compiler generates successfully the classes.   • Multiple "pages" in GWT with human friendly URLs

    Hi. I'm playing with a GWT/GAE project which will have three different "pages", although it is not really pages in a GWT sense. The top views (one for each page) will have completely different layouts, but some of the widgets will be shared. One of the pages is the main page which is loaded by the default url (http://www.site.com), but the other two needs additional URL information to differentiate the page type. They also need a name parameter, (like http://www.site.com/project/project-name. There are at least two solutions to this that I'm aware of. Use GWT history mechanism and let page type and parameters (such as project name) be part of the history token. Use servlets with url-mapping patterns (like /project/*) The first choice might seem obvious at first, but it has several drawbacks. First, a user should be able to easily remember and type URL directly to a project. It is hard to produce a human friendly URL with history tokens. Second, I'm using gwt-presenter and this approach would mean that we need to support subplaces in one token, which I'd rather avoid. Third, a user will typically stay at one page, so it makes more sense that the page information is part of the "static" URL. Using servlets solves all these problems, but also creates other ones. So my first questions is, what is the best solution here? If I would go for the servlet solution, new questions pop up. It might make sense to split the GWT app into three separate modules, each with an entry point. Each servlet that is mapped to a certain page would then simply forward the request to the GWT module that handles that page. Since a user typically stays at one page, the browser only needs to load the js for that page. Based on what I've read, this solution is not really recommended. I could also stick with one module, but then GWT needs to find out which page it should display. It could either query the server or parse the URL itself. If I stick with one GWT module, I need to keep the page information stored on server side. Naturally I thought about sessions, but I'm not sure if its a good idea to mix page information with user data. A session usually lives between user login and logout, but in this case it would need different behavior. Would it be bad practise to handle this via sessions? The one GWT module + servlet solution also leads to another problem. If a user goes from a project page to the main page, how will GWT know that this has happened? The app will not be reloaded, so it will be treated as a simple state change. It seems rather ineffecient to have to check page info for every state change. Anyone care to guide me out of the foggy darkness that surrounds me? :-)

  • Resolving the Access is Denied Error in VSeWSS Deployments

    Visual Studio Extensions for Windows SharePoint Services 1.3 (VSeWSS 1.3) tends to make my life easier unless I'm typing out the words that make up the VSeWSS acronym - really, what a mouthful.  But one of the problems that I routinely encounter are error messages when trying to deploy solutions.  These normally look something like the following: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) I tried a variety of steps to resolve this issue: Recycling the application pool Restarting IIS Closing Visual Studio Not detaching from the debugger until a request was fully completed Logging off and logging back into Windows etc. Nothing actually worked.  Some of these resolution attempts seemed to help keep the problem from happening quite as frequently, but I still have no idea what EXACTLY causes the problem and it would rear its ugly head from time to time.  Unfortunately, the only resolution I found that seemed to work was to reboot the machine . which is a crappy resolution. Finally sick enough of the problem to spend some time on it, I went on a search and tried to figure out if anyone else was having this issue.  People seem to suggest that turning off the Indexing Service on your machine helps resolve this problem.  I tried turning it off but I kept having issues.  Which was depressing.  Fortunately, I stumbled upon the resolution when I was looking through the services list.  If you encounter the issue, all you have to do is reset the World Wide Web Publishing Service.  I've had a 100% success rate so far with this approach.  I'm not sure if having the Indexing Service is part of the solution, but I've kept it disabled for the time being because I'm really sick of having to reboot my machine to deal with that error message. Why and what is the solution? Solution is as following: DECLARE @mymoney MONEY; SET @mymoney = 12345.67; SELECT CAST(@mymoney AS DECIMAL(7,2)) MoneyInt; GO There were more than 20 valid answers. Here is the reason. Decimal data type is defined as Decimal (Precision, Scale), in other words Decimal (Total digits, Digits after decimal point).. Precision includes Scale. So Decimal (5,2) actually means, we can have 3 digits before decimal and 2 digits after decimal. To accommodate 12345.67 one need higher precision.   • TFS 2010 Build: Dealing with the API restriction error

    Recently I’ve come across this error a couple of times when running builds that exeucte unit tests using Test containers: API restriction: The assembly 'file:///C:\Builds\<path>\myassembly.dll' has already loaded from a different location. It cannot be loaded from a new location within the same appdomain. Every time I’ve got this error, the project has been a web application, and the path to the assembly points down to the _PublishedWebsites directory that is created beneath the Binaries folder during a team build. The error description really says it all (although slightly cryptic), when using test containers, MSTest needs to load all assemblies and see if they contain any unit tests. During this serach, it finds the ‘myassembly.dll’ in two different locations. First it is found directly beneth the Binaries folder, and then it is alos found beneath the _PublishedWebsites\Project\bin folder. The reason is that the default setting for test containers in a TFS 2010 build definition is **\*test*.dll:   This pattern means that MSTest will search recursively for all assemblies beneath the Binaries folder, and during the search it will find the MyAssembly.dll twice. The solution is simple, set the Test assembly file specification property to *test*.dll instead, this will disable the recursive search:

  • dpkg E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error

    I decided to shift around my partitions on my hard drive for a fresh install of Kubuntu. I booted my Ubuntu 10.10 live disc, shifted everything around and attempted to install grub and it didn't work, so I burnt an Ubuntu 12.04 disc and installed it. I got the computer working and wanted to install some packages, but didn't have an internet connection at the time. So (I know this was stupid) I got some debs from previous versions of Ubuntu, as I needed my music, and the other install took a long of time to boot. Once I got my internet connection back, everything worked ok, for a little while. Then I stumbled upon this problem after removing ten broken packages using synaptic: drhax@Spamotard:~$ sudo apt-get install -f Reading package lists...   • How to fix AVI index error

    I try to open an AVI file. The first software I tried is VLC media player. It reports some error about AVI index: This AVI file is broken. Seeking will not work correctly. Do you want to try to fix it? This might take a long time. I chose yes, and it began fixing AVI index and existed when the repair progress bar reaches 20% or so. Then the video started playing and stopped much earlier than when it is supposed to finish. Next I tried to open it in Totem Movie Player, which also stopped earlier at the same place as in VLC player. I tried to play it in GMplayer. Now the entire AVI file can be played from start to finish, but it is impossible to drag playing progress bar while it was possible in VLC player and Totem player. I heard that Avidemux can fix AVI index error, but later discovered it failed to open the AVI file. So I was wondering how I can fix the AVI index error, or at least drag the playing progress bar in GMplayer? Thanks and regards!

    I keep a windows partition on my laptop for the occaisional bit of Photoshop work. A while ago I noticed that Windows had disappeared from my grub boot menu and when I try to mount the windows partion, my system hangs for a bit and then I get this: Unable to mount 105 GB Filesystem Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 13: ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error Failed to calculate free MFT records: Input/output error NTFS is either inconsistent, or there is a hardware fault, or it's a SoftRAID/FakeRAID hardware. In the first case run chkdsk /f on Windows then reboot into Windows twice. The usage of the /f parameter is very important! If the device is a SoftRAID/FakeRAID then first activate it and mount a different device under the /dev/mapper/ directory, (e.g. /dev/mapper/nvidia_eahaabcc1). Please see the 'dmraid' documentation for more details. It seems that chkdsk is a windows command but since I can't boot into windows (since its the windows partition that is the problem) I'm not sure what to do. If an external drive that is included in your drive pool becomes unplugged or loses power, you might see the following error under Home Network Health when opening the WHS Console. To fix the issue verify the drive has power and is plugged in correctly and click Repair. The wizard launches and you’ll need to agree that you may lose data during the repair of the backup database. In this example it was a simple problem where an external drive became unplugged from the server…so you can close out of the wizard. If you look under Server Storage you can see the drive is missing…To fix the issue verify the drive has power and is plugged in correctly. WHS will add the drive back into the pool and when finished you’ll see it listed as healthy and good to go. Using external drives that are part of your storage pool may not be the best way to have your home built WHS setup, but if you do, expect occasional errors such as this.   • Error installing avogadro with CMake 'lconvert: could not exec No such file or directory'

    I'm brand new in ubuntu. I'm trying to install Avogadro. The program need the following packages, which I could install: CMake - OpenBabel 2.3.2 - Qt4 - Git - Eigen2. Here it is the recepy to install the : cd $HOME/src git clone git://github.com/cryos/avogadro.git mkdir -p $HOME/build/avogadro cd $HOME/build/avogadro cmake $HOME/src/avogadro make -j2 sudo make install It was unable to compile, but when I skipped the 'git clone' step it seemed to work just fine. After several stops during the CMake compiling process (software actualizations, get Doxygen, get flex, get bison) I was able to compile.   • Configuration Manager Setting Causing Error PRJ0019

    Recently I ran into an issue with a project failing to build on an automated build server using CruiseControl. When I looked into the build log I saw that the Post-Build project was failing with the error message: "error PRJ0019: A tool returned an error code from "Performing Post-Build Event..." This was most frustrating especially since the solution was building without issue on my local development environment. The Post-Build project was a C++ project that basically called several batch files to unregister/register assemblies, copy resources and supporting files, and place other dependencies in the GAC. I decided to run each of the batch files manually to see if that would provide more information as to why this project was failing. This lead me to determine that the batch file that was placing assemblies in the GAC was the culprit and that it was failing to find a particular assembly. The missing assembly was the output of another project. The project that was not producing the expected output was another C++ project that called a batch file. This batch process was actually embedding resource files into an assembly and then copying the assembly to the expected location. The real confusion started when I looked back into my Subversion log and noted that nothing had changed in this project in more than 2 months! It was almost as if the project had stopped building altogether. But what would cause that?! The Configuration Manager, obviously! Checking the solution's Configuration Manager settings, I found that the project that was not producing any output was in fact not selected to be part of the build process when the "Any CPU" platform was selected. This was the problem! I had recently updated the CruiseControl configurations to force the solution to be built targeting the platform "Any CPU". As a result, the project that was at the root of the problem was not configured to be built and the post-build process was failing when it couldn't find what it needed.

    I have my online shop, created with WP Ecommerce getting broken after I moved it to another server. I could be sure that the problem comes from WP Ecommerce because when I disable that plugin. I thought it was some kind of permission issue, so I tried to change /tmp permission to 777. Nothing happens. I googled it some more and suspect it might have something to do with fastCGI configuration and stuff. Which I totally don't understand. My googling result mostly suggest me to consult the web hosting provider or even to move to another host. But in this case, I am the owner of the server (VPS with cPanel/WHM). And I don't have any idea how to solve this kind of problem.

    The title is the first error that has sent me on a mission to fix things. Motivation: I was trying to install the new Enthought Python Distribution -- when the error above first showed up. The install finished -- and looked like there were a few more times it flagged dcopserver problems: Please check that "dcopserver" program is running! Could not read network connection list: ~/home/user/.DCOPserver_host__0 When running ipython from the distribution, it claims that readline (the ability to up arrow in history or tab-complete) is not available for my system. It is though -- if I run the ipython that's sitting in /usr/bin/ipython all readline features work perfectly. So, I tried to fix the install by trying to fix what I thought could be causing the problems. Bad things that are happening that I want to be fixed: When restarting I get the error: Could not update ICEauthority file /home/username/.ICEauthority. ipython readline doesn't work with Enthought's ipython Things I have tried: changed the owner of my ~/.ICEauthority to be me. changed the owner of home directory (and all nested files and folders) to be me double checked that /var/lib/gdm was owned by Gnome (yep) attempted to reinstall DCOP, kbuildsycoca stuff (fail) I've removed nautilus; rebooted; reinstalled; rebooted; removed ubuntu-desktop; rebooted; reinstalled; rebooted. Any suggestions on how to fix the Bad Things that are happening would be greatly appreciated! Computer: Ubuntu 10.04 x86
