  • jQuery textbox required validation based on another text box having text

    Pretty basic question, however, I am very new to jQuery and javascript in general. I have a jQuery validation that is requiring a text box to have text in it, if a checkbox is checked. <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $("form").validate( { rules: { Comments: { required: "#IsAbnormal:checked" } }, messages: { Comments: { required: "Comments are required" } }, onkeyup: false, wrapper: "", errorLabelContainer: "#ErrorMessageBox" }); }); Pretty straight forward, if you check the IsAbnormal checkbox, it will throw a validation if there are no comments. What I am trying to do is require a textbox based on if another text box has any text in it, for instance require the old password if a user enters a new password into a textbox. Is there an easy way to get the required: "#NewPassword:NotBlank" to work?

  • Best practices: displaying text that was input via multi-line text box

    I have a multi-line text box. When users simply type away, the text box wraps the text, and it's saved as a single line. It's also possible that users may enter line breaks, for example when entering a "bulleted" lists like: Here are some suggestions: - fix this - remove that - and another thing Now, the problem occurs when I try to display the value of this field. In order to preserve the formatting, I currently wrap the presentation in <pre> - this works to preserve user-supplied breaks, but when there's a lot of text saved as a single line, it displays the whole text block as single line, resulting in horizontal scrolling being needed to see everything. Is there a graceful way to handle both of these cases?

    Hello everybody!!! Our names are Lena and Laura, we both study in the same Grande Ecole in France, IPAG and we are about to complete our 16 week-internship in Oracle in the UK. Below a summary of our experience! My name is Lena. I am 20 years old and joined Oracle UK in September 2010 – more specifically, I joined the EMEA Graduate's Recruitment Team (EMEA stands for Europe, Middle East and Africa), and I have learned a lot about working life. It was a really good experience, which made me realize that I soon will be looking for a fulltime employee in a company in less than 3 years. I am glad to have had this first experience in Oracle. First of all because it's a very welcoming company which treats interns as employees and gives them the opportunity to show their potential. I also discovered that it is nice to work in a company where everybody knows everybody, and where the atmosphere is really good. The multicultural aspect is one of the most important and beautiful elements of Oracle. It gives you the opportunity to have contacts in many parts of the world and discover a lot of nice people. During my internship I learned a lot about Recruitment. I discovered I want to work in a Human Resources role after I graduate. I like the contact I will have with candidates and the fact that I have to be in touch with managers and understand their needs. I would be glad to work for the company in the near future. I would like to thank all my team members for welcoming me like they did. It was a real pleasure to share this experience in Oracle and in this team and I hope to return after I graduate.   Hi all! I am Laura. My wish for this internship was to focus on training of personal skills for employees and, by the same time of course, for the company’s development.... and I did it in the OTD team (EMEA Organization Talent Development Team). I could not have done something better than this! It was truly instructive. I learnt how to work in such a big international company, the values and the rules to follow and to interact and be part of the organisation. In Oracle, there are so different aspects of every department, so many possibilities in HR as well as in Finance or Sales... The jobs are very various and the employees’ cultures are also really different thanks to this international and multicultural company. I am working with OTD for the entire EMEA region, having many of my colleagues in other countries, with other cultures, other ways to work, and other ways to think... this is so inspiring! Oracle offers the best environment to learn about a job, as well as to learn about work life in such large companies. This company is about new technologies, it always goes fast, and everything changes quickly! You have to be aware of these changes and keep track of the wishes of customers. For OTD of course, these customers are the employees. Looking back I have learnt more then I would have ever thought and I know that it is what I want to do... And now I hope to come back again!   • Price Drop for Processor based License on Exalytics

    ·       33% reduction in the list `per processor` license pricing for the Oracle BI Foundation Suite ·       New capacity-based licensing which allows customers to think big & start small, significantly lowering the entry price point for an Exalytics. Oracle BI Software List Price changes In response to new powerful platforms like the in-memory Oracle Exalytics with 40 cpu cores (counted under Oracle pricing policy as 20 “processors”), the list price of “Oracle BI Foundation Suite” (BIFS) is reduced by 33% from $450K per processor to $300K per processor. Capacity-based licensing on Exalytics (Trusted Partitions) “Capacity-based pricing” for the BIFS, Endeca, Essbase and Times Ten for Exalytics software is now available for Exalytics systems. This is delivered using “Oracle VM” (OVM).  We still ship a full Exalytics machine to all customers, but they may choose to only use and license a subset of the processors installed in the machine.   Customers can license Exalytics software in units of 5 “processors”: 5, 10, 15 or the full capacity 20.   As the customer’s implementation and workload increases, it is a simple matter to license additional processors and, using OVM, make them available to the BI or EPM application.   • Deleting entire lines in a text file based on a partial string match with Windows PowerShell

    So I have several large text files I need to sort through, and remove all occurrences of lines which contain a given keyword. So basically, if I have these lines: This is not a test This is a test Maybe a test Definitely not a test And I run the script with 'not', I need to entirely delete lines 1 and 4. I've been trying with: PS C:\Users\Admin (Get-Content "D:\Logs\co2.txt") | Foreach-Object {$_ -replace "3*Program*", ""} | Set-Content "D:\Logs\co2.txt" but it only replaces the 'Program' and not the entire line.

  • Transcript creator OR Speech to text

    I listen to a daily podcast that is about 4 hours long. I think it would be a cool project if I could come with some way to generate transcripts of it automatically. Is there any software that will "listen" to the mp3s and create text of what they are saying? I'm not very concerned with differentiating who is talking because I think that would be asking too much. There are 4 main people speaking and others less often.

  • light text editor for csv file? (on windows)

    could anybody suggest a light (small, fast) text editor that can handle columnar view of csv files? save quote character to all fields, even if not 'necessary' OpenOffice Calc is bit big for my old laptop. My favourite Notepad++ cannot do the columnar view. And it seems to me that Sharp Tools Spreadsheet cannot import csv file. GoogleDoc convert some date fields by default which I do not want and it is really not fast and easy way how to edit csv.

  • Text editor on Windows for editing remote files

    I've got a team of web programmers that need to edit HTML and CSS that is stored on a linux server. They're all using Windows on their desktops. Rather than either teaching them to use vi/vim in a shell window or editing locally and copying using an SFTP client, I think it'd be easier to install a text editor which can transparently do the network negotiation.   • iphone app to read text files.

    Hi, Need to edit some of the local text files on my iphone but so far all the apps I have downloaded do not navigate the OS3 file tree for me to load and edit them. I need to do this on my iphone as I can no longer access via ssh or with the iphone cable. One of the files to edit is a ssh config file which is what is not allowing ssh connections. Any ideas on apps or other methods that I could use. Thanks,
