  HI All I am using boost accumulators.   This question might have asked here number of times . After doing some google search for the above error and doing some update, I can't understand why I'm still getting that error.   hi I have created a jar inside this folder: '/usr/local/bin/niidle.jar' in eclipse. And I have another jar inside /usr/local/bin/niidle.jar. In my niidle.jar file,there is one 'lib' folder and in that 'lib' folder,there is another jar file 'hector-0.6.0-17.jar'. I have added this 'hector-0.6.0-17.jar' file in MANIFEST.MF as follows: Manifest-Version: 1.0 Main-Class: com.ensarm.niidle.web.scraper.NiidleScrapeManager Class-Path: hector-0.6.0-17.jar But when I run this using command: >>java -jar /usr/local/bin/niidle.jar arguments... It is not working.. • NoClassDefFoundError without any class name

  Hello, I am trying to run a java task from ant. I am trying to run the "org.apache.tools.ant.launch.Launcher" class. I keep on getting the "NoClassDefFoundError" without any class name being specified. I am also getting a "ClassNotFoundException" along with that displaying a message "Could not find the main class: . Program will exit". • xstream and ibm j9 sdk incompatibilities on linux

  I encountered an incompatibility with xstream and IBM J9 jdk (the 32bits version). Everything worked fine when I used sun jdk but fails on IBM jdk (on linux only. on windows it's ok with both jdks). When debugging, the error appears to be that xstream uses a java.util.TreeSet internally but the set's iterator returns elements in the wrong order (I know this sounds very strange, but this is the behavior that I saw). Googling for related bugs didn't give any meaningful results I tried upgrading pretty much any component possible but no luck. I tried the following configurations: ibm jdk 1.6 SR 7 (bundled with WebSphere 7.0.0.9), xstream 1.2.2 ibm jdk 1.6 SR 8, xstream 1.2.2 ibm jdk 1.6 SR 8, xstream 1.3.1 (I tried those both with tomcat and with WebSphere server, so actually there are 6 configurations using IBM jdk). The code in question is in class com.thoughtworks.xstream.core.DefaultConverterLookup, around line 44. It uses an iterator from class com.thoughtworks.xstream.core.util.PrioritizedList, which uses a custom comparator, but all the comparator does is compare integers (the priorities). Has anyone seen this before? Any idea what can I do or change?

• Redirecting to a Facelet is not working when extending FaceletViewHandler

  I'm overriding the handleRenderResponse method defined in com.sun.facelets.FaceletViewHandler: protected void handleRenderException(FacesContext context, Exception ex) I'm overriding this method so I can redirect the user to a custom error page (which contain the desired look and feel and other stuff). This is the way I'm trying to String errorPage = "/error.xhtml"; String contextPath = context.getExternalContext().getRequestContextPath(); String errorPagePath = contextPath+errorPage; context.getExternalContext().redirect(errorPagePath); The previous code is what I'm using to perform the redirect to this custom error page. Anyway, when I perform the redirect I'm prompted with a download dialog (this is with Internet Explorer, in Firefox the page does not display properly or as I would expect). I tried changing "/error.xhtml" to "/error.jsf" but in that case I get a 404 error. Somehow I think that the XHTML file is not being handled to the Facelets ViewHandler after the redirect, if I open the downloaded xhtml file I can see that the EL expressions were not resolved and the the ui tags were not handled. I don't have problems with other pages in my application, only when doing the redirect programatically. Important data from my web.xml: facelets.VIEW_MAPPINGS is set to *.xhtml javax.faces.DEFAULT_SUFFIX is set to .xhtml servlet-mapping for the "Faces Servlet" is ".jsf" and "/faces/"

• Is JavaEE really portable?

  I'm just implementing a JavaEE assignment I was given on an interview. I have some prior experience with EJB, but nothing related to JMS and MDBs. So here's what I find through the numerous examples: application servers bind their topics and queues to different JNDI names - for example topic/queue, jms the activationConfig property is required on JBoss, while in the Sun tutorial it is not. after starting my application, jboss warns me that my topic isn't bound (it isn't actually - I haven't bound it, but I expect it to be bound automatically - in fact, in an example for JBoss 4.0 automatic binding does seem to happen). A suggested solution is to map it in some jboss files or even use jboss-specific annotations. This might be just JBoss, but since it is certified to implement to spec, it appears the spec doesn't specify these these things. And there all the alleged portability vanishes. So I wonder - how come it is claimed that JavaEE is portable and you can take an ear and deploy it on another application server and it magically runs, if such extremely basic things don't appear to be portable at all. P.S. sorry for the rant, but I'm assume I might be doing/getting something wrong, so state your opinions.

  I'm having an issue where asterisk will play our greeting to the caller, and then drop the call instead of making our phones ring. The bit of information I could find said it was caused by an error in evaluating a dialplan expression. • Class initialization and synchronized class method

  Hi there, In my application, there is a class like below: public class Client { public synchronized static print() { System.out.println("hello"); } static { doSomething(); // which will take some time to complete } } This class will be used in a multi thread environment, many threads may call the Client.print() method simultaneously. I wonder if there is any chance that thread-1 triggers the class initialization, and before the class initialization complete, thread-2 enters into print method and print out the "hello" string? I see this behavior in a production system (64 bit JVM + Windows 2008R2), however, I cannot reproduce this behavior with a simple program in any environments. In Java language spec, section 12.4.1 (http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jls/second_edition/html/execution.doc.html), it says: A class or interface type T will be initialized immediately before the first occurrence of any one of the following: T is a class and an instance of T is created. T is a class and a static method declared by T is invoked. A static field declared by T is assigned. A static field declared by T is used and the reference to the field is not a compile-time constant (§15.28). References to compile-time constants must be resolved at compile time to a copy of the compile-time constant value, so uses of such a field never cause initialization. According to this paragraph, the class initialization will take place before the invocation of the static method, however, it is not clear if the class initialization need to be completed before the invocation of the static method. JVM should mandate the completion of class initialization before entering its static method according to my intuition, and some of my experiment supports my guess. However, I did see the opposite behavior in another environment. Can someone shed me some light on this? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

• How can you connect to a password protected MS Access Database from a Spring JdbcTemplate?

  I need to connect to a password protected MS Access 2003 DB using the JDBC-ODBC bridge. I can't find out how to specify the password in the connect string, or even if that is the correct method of connecting. It would probably be relevant to mention that this is a Spring App which is accessing the database through a JdbcTemplate configured as a datasource bean in our application context file. And the first alert, which is placed inside the function shows 'undefined' at all. findRelations(members); alert("Found " + wires.length + " connections"); I guess that's because of JavaScript literal. Could you suggest how to change a function or perhaps to change litteral to JSON array to get it work?! And at the end to get 'm' and 'n' values as numbers.

• "Android Create" call fails in windows 7 - missing JDK

  I'm having a problem getting my android dev environment setup in Windows 7. I follow the instructions here, as well as several environment sublinks. I am using Eclipse with the Android plugin. I have installed the Java JDK several times, in various locations (jdk-6u20-windows-i586.exe) - but I am obviously missing something. Every time I run "android create avd --target 2 --name my_avd" I get an error: C:\Users\andrew>android create avd --target 2 --name my_avd WARNING: Java not found in your path. Checking it it's installed in C:\Program Files\Java instead. ERROR: No suitable Java found. In order to properly use the Android Developer Tools, you need a suitable version of Java installed on your system. We recommend that you install the JDK version of JavaSE, available here: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/ You can find the complete Android SDK requirements here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/requirements.html This error message is the reason for me installing the JDK several times over. First I tried installing to a location on my e: drive. I then moved it to the default loc (program files (x86)\java\jdk.6.something. I also tried forcing it to go into the program files\ path, but it still automatically installs into the (x86) path. I have added the install path to my path environment variable every single time, yet I still continue to get this error. My suspicion is that windows 7 and the android tools are not playing together well in terms of finding the JDK, but who knows, it may be something entirely different. If you have seen this error before, I would appreciate a hint.

  Hi, In the Javadoc of "http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/util/WeakHashMap.html", it said "Each key object in a WeakHashMap is stored indirectly as the referent of a weak reference. Therefore a key will automatically be removed only after the weak references to it, both inside and outside of the map, have been cleared by the garbage collector." And then Note that a value object may refer indirectly to its key via the WeakHashMap itself; that is, a value object may strongly refer to some other key object whose associated value object, in turn, strongly refers to the key of the first value object. But should not both Key and Value should be used weak reference in WeakHashMap? i.e. if there is low on memory, GC will free the memory held by the value object (since the value object most likely take up more memory than key object in most cases)? And if GC free the Value object, the Key Object can be free as well? Basically, I am looking for a HashMap which will reduce memory usage when there is low memory (GC collects the value and key objects if necessary). Is it possible in Java? Thank you.

  Given a date range how to calculate the number of weekends partially or wholly within that range? (A few definitions as requested: take 'weekend' to mean Saturday and Sunday. The date range is inclusive i.e. the end date is part of the range 'wholly or partially' means that any part of the weekend falling within the date range means the whole weekend is counted.) To simplify I imagine you only actually need to know the duration and what day of the week the initial day is... I darn well now it's going to involve doing integer division by 7 and some logic to add 1 depending on the remainder but I can't quite work out what... extra points for answers in Python ;-) Edit Here's my final code. Weekends are Friday and Saturday (as we are counting nights stayed) and days are 0-indexed starting from Monday. I used onebyone's algorithm and Tom's code layout.   On http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/net/URL.html it states that: Compares this URL for equality with another object. If the given object is not a URL then this method immediately returns false. Two URL objects are equal if they have the same protocol, reference equivalent hosts, have the same port number on the host, and the same file and fragment of the file. Two hosts are considered equivalent if both host names can be resolved into the same IP addresses; else if either host name can't be resolved, the host names must be equal without regard to case; or both host names equal to null. Since hosts comparison requires name resolution, this operation is a blocking operation. Note: The defined behavior for equals is known to be inconsistent with virtual hosting in HTTP. According to this, equals will only work if name resolution is possible. Since I can't be sure that a computer has internet access at a given time, should I just use Strings to store addresses instead? Also, how do I go about testing if access is available when requested?

  Environment: sun JDK 1.6.0_16 vm settings: -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -Xms1024 -Xmx1024M -XX:MaxNewSize=448m -XX:NewSize=448m -XX:SurvivorRatio=4(6 also checked) -XX:MaxPermSize=128M OS: windows server 2003 processor: 4 cores of INTEL XEON 5130, 2000 Hz my application description: high intensity of concurrent(java 5 concurrency used) operations completed each time by commit to oracle. it's about 20-30 threads run non stop, doing tasks. application runs in JBOSS web container. My GC starts work normally, I see a lot of small GCs and all that time CPU shows good load, like all 4 cores loaded to 40-50%, CPU graph is stable. Then , after 1 min of good work, CPU starts drop to 0% on 2 cores from 4, it's graph becomes unstable, goes up and down("teeth"). I see, that my threads work slower(I have monitoring), I see that GC starts produce a lot of FULL GC during that time and next 4-5 minutes this situation remains as is, then for short period of time, like 1 minute, it gets back to normal situation, but shortly after that all bad thing repeats. Question: Why I have so frequent full GC??? How to prevent that? I played with SurvivorRatio - does not help. I noticed, that application behaves normally until first FULL GC occurs, while I have enough memory.
