  • Javascript calls to an Ajax WebMethod. How to get multiple output params returned?

    - by George
OK, I know how to call a simple old fashion asmx webservice webthod that returns a single value as a function return result. But what if I want to return multiple output params? My current approach is to separate the params by a dividing character and parse them on teh client. Is there a better way. Here's how I return a single function result. How do I return multiple output values? <asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server"> <Services> <asp:ServiceReference Path="WebService.asmx" /> </Services> function CallHelloWebMethod() { WebService.Hello(OnComplete1, OnTimeOut, OnError); } function OnComplete1(arg) { alert(arg); } function OnTimeOut(arg) { } <WebMethod()> Public Function Hello(ByVal x As String) As String Return "Hello " & x End Function

  • JQuery and WCF - GET Method passes null

    - by user70192
Hello, I have a WCF service that accepts requests from JQuery. Currently, I can access this service. However, the parameter value is always null. Here is my WCF Service definition: [OperationContract] [WebInvoke(Method = "GET", BodyStyle = WebMessageBodyStyle.WrappedRequest, RequestFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json, ResponseFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json)] public string ExecuteQuery(string query) { // NOTE: I get here, but the query parameter is always null string results = Engine.ExecuteQuery(query); return results; } Here is my JQuery call: var searchUrl = "/services/myService.svc/ExecuteQuery"; var json = { "query": eval("\"test query\"") }; alert(json2string(json)); // Everything is correct here if (json != null) { $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: searchUrl, contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", data: json2string(json), dataType: "json" }); } What am I doing wrong? It seems odd that I can call the service but the parameter is always null. Thank you

  • jQuery tag editor function

    - by Mad Hatter
I'm using jQuery Tag Editor (http://blog.crazybeavers.se/wp-content/demos/jquery.tag.editor/) for a school project. Everything works perfect, but i'm not able to retrieve the array of tags that I added. This is my code: $("#allTags").click(function () { var tags = $("#tagEditor").tagEditor().getTags(); alert(tags); }); The array doesn't return anything. This is the code from the jQuery Tag Editor: (function ($) { $.fn.extend({ tagEditor: function (options) { var defaults = { separator: ',', items: [], className: 'tagEditor', confirmRemoval: false, confirmRemovalText: 'Do you really want to remove the tag?', completeOnSeparator: false, completeOnBlur: false, initialParse: true, } var options = $.extend(defaults, options); var listBase, textBase = this, hiddenText; var itemBase = []; this.getTags = function () { return itemBase.join(options.separator); }; ...

  • accessing pdf via https URL

    - by Paul
I send out a newsletter email containing URLs to a https website that then redirects to a pdf document. On first invocation of a URL the user is prompted with the typical https browser "security alert" popup, on selecting "Yes" the display of the PDF fails. The HTTP Header on the failed response is: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Server: ECS/HTTP-Server Date: Tue, 16 Mar 2010 15:57:26 GMT Content-type: application/pdf Content-language: en-US Set-cookie: JSESSIONID=0000r111cRz1Vc-PtCJg8Cdu4eR:-1; Path=/ Expires: Thu, 01 Dec 1994 16:00:00 GMT Cache-control: no-cache="set-cookie, set-cookie2" Connection: close Subsequent invocations of the URL successfully opens the PDF (at this point we have the session id cookie set by the initial failed request). The HTTP Header on the successful response is: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Server: ECS/HTTP-Server Date: Tue, 16 Mar 2010 16:53:03 GMT Content-type: application/pdf Content-language: en-US Connection: close The email client is Lotus Notes 6.5 which launches an IE6 browser Any ideas?

  • Capturing the contents of <select>

    - by joey mueller
I'm trying to use a regular expression to capture the contents of all option values inside an HTML select element For example, in: <select name="test"> <option value="blah">one</option> <option value="mehh">two</option> <option value="rawr">three</option> </select> I'd like to capture one two and three into an array. My current code is var pages = responseDetails.responseText.match(/<select name="page" .+?>(?:\s*<option .+?>([^<]+)<\/option>)+\s*<\/select>/); for (var c = 0; c<pages.length; c++) { alert(pages[c]); } But it only captures the last value, in this case, "three". How can I modify this to capture all of them? Thanks!

  • Javascript : assign variable in if condition statement, good practice or not?

    - by Michael Mao
Hi all: I moved one years ago from classic OO languages such like Java to Javascript. The following code is definitely not recommended (or even not correct) in Java: if(dayNumber = getClickedDayNumber(dayInfo)) { alert("day number found"); } function getClickedDayNumber(dayInfo) { dayNumber = dayInfo.indexOf("fc-day"); if(dayNumber != -1) //substring found { //normally any calendar month consists of "40" days, so this will definitely pick up its day number. return parseInt(dayInfo.substring(dayNumber+6, dayNumber+8)); } else return false; } Basically I just found out that I can assign a variable to a value in an if condition statement, and immediately check the assigned value as if it is boolean. For a safer bet, I usually separate that into two lines of code, assign first then check the variable, but now that I found this, I am just wondering whether is it good practice or not in the eyes of experienced javascript developers? Many thanks in advance.

  • XMLHttpRequest inside an oject: how to keep the refrence to "this"

    - by Julien
I make some Ajax calls from inside a javascript object.: myObject.prototye = { ajax: function() { this.foo = 1; var req = new XMLHttpRequest(); req.open('GET', url, true); req.onreadystatechange = function (aEvt) { if (req.readyState == 4) { if(req.status == 200) { alert(this.foo); // reference to this is lost } } } }; Inside the onreadystatechange function, this does not refer to the main obecjt anymore, so I don't have access to this.foo. • How to get width of a div in pixels using JQuery (IE)

    - by Casidiablo
Hello there. At first glance it sounds easy... when using JQuery one can use the .width() method to retrieve the width of an element. The problem comes when the DIV element does not have its size in pixels but in words like 'auto' or 'inherit'. When I do this it works nice in Firefox and Chrome even if the size is specified in words: alert($('#id_div').css('width')); // these two sentences does not It returns something like: 96px. But, IE returns the word 'auto'. I need to know the size it has in pixels because I have to do some calculations with that number... so, I've been wondering how to solve this problem. How can I solve this issue? Thanks for reading.

  • XSS as attack vector even if XSS data not stored?

    - by Klaas van Schelven
I have a question about XSS Can forms be used as a vector for XSS even if the data is not stored in the database and used at a later point? i.e. in php the code would be this: <form input="text" value="<?= @$_POST['my_field'] ?>" name='my_field'> Showing an alert box (demonstrate that JS can be run) on your own browser is trivial with the code above. But is this exploitable across browsers as well? The only scenario I see is where you trick someone into visiting a certain page, i.e. a combination of CSRF and XSS. "Stored in a database and used at a later point": the scenario I understand about CSS is where you're able to post data to a site that runs JavaScript and is shown on a page in a browser that has greater/different privileges than your own. But, to be clear, this is not wat I'm talking about above.

  • try-catch in JavaScript : how to get stack trace or line number of the original error

    - by Greg Bala
When using TRY-CATCH in JavaScript, how to get the line number of the line that caused the error? On many browsers, the below code will work great and I will get the stack trace that points to the actual line that throw the exception. However, some browsers do not have "e.stack". Iphone's safari is one example. Is there someway to get the line number that will work for all browsers? try { // lots of code here var i = v.WillGenerateError; // how to get this line number in catch?? // lots of code here } catch (e) { alert (e.stack) // this will not work on iPhone, for example } Many thanks!

  • Javascript Onclicks not working?

    - by Georges Oates Larsen
I have a jQuery application which finds a specific div, and edit's its inner HTML. As it does this, it adds several divs with onclicks designed to call a function in my JS. For some strange reason, clicking on these never works if I have a function defined in my code set to activate. However, it works fine when calling "alert("Testing");". I am quite bewildered at this as I have in the past been able to make code-generated onclicks work just fine. The only thing new here is jQuery.

  • Help! How to get the event handler with IE Dom interfaces?

    - by usfree74
Hey Gurus, I am working to use IE Dom interface to automate IE page access. I am trying to get all event handlers defined in a page. I am using IHTMLElement object now for this purpose. If the html page defines "onclick=xxx", element.onclick returns the click handler. However, if an event handler is defined in javascript, element.onclick simply returns NULL. What's the right way to get the event handler then? Thanks, xin Below is an example that uses javascript to define event handler. $(document).ready(function(){ $("a").click(function(event){ $(this).hide("slow"); alert("Thanks for visiting!"); window.location="http://cnn.com"; }); }); jQuery

  • My site was recently attacked. What do I do?

    - by ChrisH
This is a first for me. One of the sites I run was recently attacked. Not at all an intelligent attack - pure brute force - hit every page and every non-page with every extension possible. Posted with garbage data to every form and tried to post to some random urls too. All tod, 16000 requests in one hour. What should I do to prevent/alert this kind of behavior? Is there a way to limit the request/hr for a given ip/client? Is there a place I should be reporting the user to? They appear to be from China and did leave what seems like a valid e-mail.
