  • Autoplaynig video/image gallery - with a catch

    - by Ran
    Looking for a (jQuery) video/image gallery to implement on my website, I've found many freely available option. However, I need one that, when in "autoplay" mode and gets to a video file, automatically plays an entire file, and only then moves on to the next image/video. Similar to what Picasaweb are doing when you ask to autoplay an online gallery of your images/videos. I have found, for example, this plugin: http://www.yoxigen.com/yoxview/. Notice that images 6 & 8 are actually video feeds, but when in autoplay mode, are treated just like any other image, i.e. - displayed for a few seconds then moves on to the next file... not what I need. Thank you in advance.

  • Try::Tiny-Question

    - by sid_com
    Why doesn't the subroutine with try/catch give me the same results as the eval-version does. #!/usr/bin/env perl use warnings; use strict; use 5.012; use Try::Tiny; sub shell_command_1 { my $command = shift; my $timeout_alarm = shift; my @array; eval { local $SIG{ALRM} = sub { die "timeout '$command'\n" }; alarm $timeout_alarm; @array = qx( $command ); alarm 0; }; die $@ if $@ && $@ ne "timeout '$command'\n"; warn $@ if $@ && $@ eq "timeout '$command'\n"; return @array; } shell_command_1( 'sleep 4', 3 ); say "Test_1"; sub shell_command_2 { my $command = shift; my $timeout_alarm = shift; my @array; try { local $SIG{ALRM} = sub { die "timeout '$command'\n" }; alarm $timeout_alarm; @array = qx( $command ); alarm 0; } catch { die $_ if $_ ne "timeout '$command'\n"; warn $_ if $_ eq "timeout '$command'\n"; } return @array; } shell_command_2( 'sleep 4', 3 ); say "Test_2"

  • Is there a way in VS2008 (c#) to see all the possible exception types that can originate from a meth

    - by Matt
    Is there a way in VS2008 IDE for c# to see all the possible exception types that can possibly originate from a method call or even for an entire try-catch block? I know that intellisense or the object browser tells me this method can throw these types of exceptions but is there another way than using the object browser everytime? Something more accessible when coding? Furthermore, I don't think intellisense or the object browser do anything more than read the XML code comments. Shouldn't it be possible to scan a class's source and find all the exception types that can be thrown. (Forget path-ing based on method input, just scan the code for exception types) Am I wrong? Extending this idea, you should be able to hover over the 'try' or 'catch' keywords and present a tooltip with all the types of exceptions that can be thrown. My question boils down to, does a VS2008 add on like this exist? Does VS2010 do this perhaps? If not, could you implement it the way I've described, by scanning the class code for thrown exception types and would people find it useful. Exceptions bubble up so you have to scan every bit of code every method call, which I guess could be impractical, though I suppose you could build an index the first time and increase your speed that way. (It might be a cool little project....)

  • How Do I make a simple .htaccess internal redirect Catch All script while forwarding POST data?

    - by RB
    I just want to catch all requests and forward them internally to my catchall page with all POST data intact Catch all page: http://www.mydomain.com/addons/redirect/catch-all.php I've tried so many combinations, but my server doesn't want to redirect internally if I specify more than catch-all.php # Internally redirect all pages to "Catch" page Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine on RewriteRule (.*) /addons/redirect/catch-all.php [L] Also, do I need [L] or is it useless for internal redirects? Then, what php code would I use to grab the POST data, use it, and finally PHP redirect the page to the originally requested page Would it be done just as normal by using $_POST['variable_name']; or something different? Then, how would I go about calling the originally requested page, so I can tell PHP to header location direct them to that page? Thanks! UPDATE: Ha sick, nevermind. The condition DOES work. Here's my code: # Internally redirect all pages to "Catch" page Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/robots.txt$ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !\.(gif¦jpe?g¦png¦css¦js¦pdf¦doc¦xml)$ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/addons/redirect/catch-all\.php$ RewriteRule (.*)$ /addons/redirect/catch-all.php?q=$1 [L] Thanks guys for the inspiration! Now time to get that PHP to work...

  • Liferay Document Management System Workflow

    - by Rajkumar
    I am creating a DMS in Liferay. So far I could upload documents in Liferay in document library. And also i can see documents in document and media portlet. The problem is though status for the document is in pending state, the workflow is not started. Below is my code. Anyone please help. Very urgent. Folder folder = null; // getting folder try { folder = DLAppLocalServiceUtil.getFolder(10181, 0, folderName); System.out.println("getting folder"); } catch(NoSuchFolderException e) { // creating folder System.out.println("creating folder"); try { folder = DLAppLocalServiceUtil.addFolder(userId, 10181, 0, folderName, description, serviceContext); } catch (PortalException e3) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e3.printStackTrace(); } catch (SystemException e3) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e3.printStackTrace(); } } catch (PortalException e4) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e4.printStackTrace(); } catch (SystemException e4) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e4.printStackTrace(); } // adding file try { System.out.println("New File"); fileEntry = DLAppLocalServiceUtil.addFileEntry(userId, 10181, folder.getFolderId(), sourceFileName, mimeType, title, "testing description", "changeLog", sampleChapter, serviceContext); Map<String, Serializable> workflowContext = new HashMap<String, Serializable>(); workflowContext.put("event",DLSyncConstants.EVENT_CHECK_IN); DLFileEntryLocalServiceUtil.updateStatus(userId, fileEntry.getFileVersion().getFileVersionId(), WorkflowConstants.ACTION_PUBLISH, workflowContext, serviceContext); System.out.println("after entry"+ fileEntry.getFileEntryId()); } catch (DuplicateFileException e) { } catch (PortalException e1) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e1.printStackTrace(); } catch (SystemException e1) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e1.printStackTrace(); } } catch (PortalException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } catch (SystemException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } } return fileEntry.getFileEntryId(); } I have even used WorkflowHandlerRegistryUtil.startWorkflowInstance(companyId, userId, fileEntry.getClass().getName(), fileEntry.getClassPK, fileEntry, serviceContext); But still i have the same problem

  • does code in finally get run after a return in objective-c?

    - by Kevlar
    consider the following code: @try { if (something.notvalid) { return; } // do something else } @catch (NSException *ex) { // handle exception } @finally { NSLog(@"finally!"); } if something is not valid and i return from within the try, does the code in @finally execute or not? I believe that it should but others I've spoken to don't think so and i'm unable to test this at the moment.

  • Catching constraint violations in JPA 2.0.

    - by Dennetik
    Consider the following entity class, used with, for example, EclipseLink 2.0.2 - where the link attribute is not the primary key, but unique nontheless. @Entity public class Profile { @Id private Long id; @Column(unique = true) private String link; // Some more attributes and getter and setter methods } When I insert records with a duplicate value for the link attribute, EclipseLink does not throw a EntityExistsException, but throws a DatabaseException, with the message explaining that the unique constraint was violated. This doesn't seem very usefull, as there would not be a simple, database independent, way to catch this exception. What would be the advised way to deal with this? A few things that I have considered are: Checking the error code on the DatabaseException - I fear that this error code, though, is the native error code for the database; Checking the existence of a Profile with the specific value for link beforehand - this obviously would result in an enormous amount of superfluous queries.

  • Why use try … finally without a catch clause?

    - by Nick Rosencrantz
    The classical way to program is with try / catch but when is it appropriate to use try without catch? In Python the following appears legal and can make sense: try: #do work finally: #do something unconditional But we didn't catch anything. Similarly one could think in Java it would be try { //for example try to get a database connection } finally { //closeConnection(connection) } It looks good and suddenly I don't have to worry about exception types etc. But if this is good practice, when is it good practice? Or reasons why this is not good practice or not legal (I didn't compile the source I'm asking about and it could be a syntax error for Java but I checked that the Python surely compiles.) A related problem I've run into is that I continue writing the function / method and at the end I must return something and I'm in a place which should not be reached and it must be a return point so even if I handle the exceptions above I'm still returning null or an empty string at some point in the code which should not be reached, often the end of the method / function. I've always managed to restructure to code so that I don't have to return null since that absolutely appears to look like less than good practice.

  • Java: Help constructing a fillTextFields() method

    - by Holly
    I have a Java project where I am to connect to a database and create buttons (next, new, save, delete, previous) to navigate through the database content where there are appropriate text fields and labels for the specific information. I'll use the code below as an example (each button is set up very similar)... I have it as follows: JButton jbtnNext = new JButton("Next ->"); jbtnNext.addActionListener(this); if (e.getSource() == jbtnNext) jbtnNext_Click(); private void jbtnNext_Click() { JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Next" ,"Button Pressed", JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE); try { if (rset.next()) { fillTextFields(true); }else{ //Display result in a dialog box JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Not found"); } } catch (SQLException ex) { ex.printStackTrace(); } } The professor gave the following outline of logic to construct the fillTextFields() method: Construct the method to provide reusable code that would fill the JTextFields on the GUI with appropriate values from current record from the database (when "Previous or "Next" buttons are pressed) or blank values (when the new Button is pressed). To determine when the current record was to provide values (next and previous) or the value would be blank (new button) pass a boolean argument into the method. If data from the current record was to be used as fill values, pass true for both previous and next button code after moving the record pointer. If the new button was pressed and want to fill with blank values, pass false to the method. Inside the method, use a conditional expression to evaluate the boolean variable. If true, The appropriate get----() resultset method is used to fill the JTextFields. If false, fill them with "". The .setText() method of the JTextField is used to fill each JTextField. Make sure the fillTextFields method throws the appropriate exception. I understand and have the previous and next button methods passing true, while the new button method is passing false, but I don't quite understand how to set up the fillTextFields() method correctly or how to "throw the appropriate exception"... Any help would really be appreciated, thank you!

  • .NET and C# Exceptions. What is it reasonable to catch.

    - by djna
    Disclaimer, I'm from a Java background. I don't do much C#. There's a great deal of transfer between the two worlds, but of course there are differences and one is in the way Exceptions tend to be thought about. I recently answered a C# question suggesting that under some circstances it's reasonable to do this: try { some work } catch (Exeption e) { commonExceptionHandler(); } (The reasons why are immaterial). I got a response that I don't quite understand: until .NET 4.0, it's very bad to catch Exception. It means you catch various low-level fatal errors and so disguise bugs. It also means that in the event of some kind of corruption that triggers such an exception, any open finally blocks on the stack will be executed, so even if the callExceptionReporter fuunction tries to log and quit, it may not even get to that point (the finally blocks may throw again, or cause more corruption, or delete something important from the disk or database). May I'm more confused than I realise, but I don't agree with some of that. Please would other folks comment. I understand that there are many low level Exceptions we don't want to swallow. My commonExceptionHandler() function could reasonably rethrow those. This seems consistent with this answer to a related question. Which does say "Depending on your context it can be acceptable to use catch(...), providing the exception is re-thrown." So I conclude using catch (Exception ) is not always evil, silently swallowing certain exceptions is. The phrase "Until .NET 4 it is very bad to Catch Exception" What changes in .NET 4? IS this a reference to AggregateException, which may give us some new things to do with exceptions we catch, but I don't think changes the fundamental "don't swallow" rule. The next phrase really bothers be. Can this be right? It also means that in the event of some kind of corruption that triggers such an exception, any open finally blocks on the stack will be executed (the finally blocks may throw again, or cause more corruption, or delete something important from the disk or database) My understanding is that if some low level code had lowLevelMethod() { try { lowestLevelMethod(); } finally { some really important stuff } } and in my code I call lowLevel(); try { lowLevel() } catch (Exception e) { exception handling and maybe rethrowing } Whether or not I catch Exception this has no effect whatever on the excution of the finally block. By the time we leave lowLevelMethod() the finally has already run. If the finally is going to do any of the bad things, such as corrupt my disk, then it will do so. My catching the Exception made no difference. If It reaches my Exception block I need to do the right thing, but I can't be the cause of dmis-executing finallys

  • Android - How to tell is someone has pressed a SPINNER but not changed the visible item in it.

    - by andy_spoo
    I have a spinner, which mostly works. If a user selects one of the items in it, the 'onItemSelected' routine catches it just fine. But if a user clicks the same spinner, but does not change from the already visible item that it's currently displaying, the 'onItemSelected' routine just ignores it, and the logs show:- WARN/InputManagerService(577): Window already focused, ignoring focus gain of: com.android.internal.view.IInputMethodClient$Stub$Proxy@437948b0 I there anyway to capture someone doing this? The idea is that my spinner contains a list of names, and when a user selects one from the spinner, it gets added to a listview. I could just add another button to get the name from the spinner, but, screen-space is already lacking and I'd rather not add anymore content.

  • Catchall Router on Exim does not work

    I have setup a catchall router on exim (used as last router): catchall: driver = redirect domains = +local_domains data = ${lookup{*@$domain}lsearch{/etc/aliases}} retry_use_local_part This works perfectly when sending emails locally. However, if I login to my GMail account and send an email to [email protected], then I get an "Unrouteable Address". Thank you for any hints to solve this issue.

  • Return value changed after finally

    - by Nestor
    I have the following code: public bool ProcessData(String data) { try { result= CheckData(data); if (TextUtils.isEmpty(result)) { summary="Data is invalid"; return false; } ... finally { Period period = new Period(startTime, new LocalDateTime()); String duration = String.format("Duration: %s:%s", period.getMinutes(), period.getSeconds()); LogCat(duration); } return true; As I learned from this question, the finally block is executed after the return statement. So I modified my code according to that, and in the finally I inserted code that does not modify the output. Strangely, the code OUTSIDE the finally block does. My method always returns true. As suggested, it is not a good idea to have 2 return. What should I do?

  • Python continue from the point where exception was thrown

    - by James Lin
    Hi is there a way to continue from the point where exception was thrown? eg I have the following psudo code unique code 1 unique code 2 unique code 3 if I want to ignore the exceptions of any of the unique code statements I will have to do it like this: try: #unique code 1 except: pass try: #unique code 2 except: pass try: #unique code 3 except: pass but this isn't elegant to me, and for the life of me I can't remember how I resolved this kind of problem last time... what I want to have is something like try: unique code 1 unique code 2 unique code 3 except: continue from last exception raised

  • Airtel 3G in Chennai – User experience, Price & What’s the catch?

    - by Boonei
    Finally ! Here we are with Airtel 3G in India. Now Airtel customers can have a go at real 3G speed. Sources suggest that the delay in rolling out 3G was due to hardware problems. It was provided by Ericsson. Now first things first. Let me get to the point. I had subscribed to Airtel’s 3G pack Rs.100 for 100 MB. This is to check out how good it is, did not want to pay a hefty sum at the first instance. It was pretty smooth upgrading.. After the upgrade I did see the much awaited 3G signal bar on my phone. Ok! now its testing time. User experience First I did a bit of browsing, boy ! it was pretty quick, web pages loaded in a jiffy. I really did not time it because it loaded really quick. I loaded a YouTube Video, no buffering, watched the 4 min Video with no problems, it took around 6 MB of data usage Made a Skype call for about 6 min, voice clarity was really good and data usage was around 4-5 MB Tried Google Maps everything was so fast could not see the difference between computer and my phone, used it for about couple of minutes. Did listen to an Online Radio for about 5 min took about 8 MB of data usage Guess there is no need to say about Facebook or Twitter. It was good obviously. Video Call – Not yet tested Price – Do you get what you pay for ? 3G speed is fantastic, you have to really feel it to enjoy it. But currently in Airtel, 3G is available only in 3 places wiz. Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore. ok ! Its not even there in all the metros? hmmm. 3G signal was not available in all parts of Chennai, often in many places it changed to 2G. Let alone all the places, even in my house when walking from one room to another sometimes its shows 2G. When it chaged from 3G to 2G there was lag in the application when it was loading data which often made me wonder if the application hanged. Currently prices not low. 2G plans in Airtel is Rs.98 for 2GB and for Rs.100 its only 100MB in 3G. Now you decide please, it’s quite a debate. The Catch – There is always a catch right ? If you have bought 3G connection and in places where 3G is not available (2G) and use any application that requires data connections (youtube, browse, chat etc) its changed with 3G!. Meaning if you have bought 100MB of 3G by paying Rs.100 like I did, suppose you used the connection for about 10MB using 2G, then it would reduce from the 100MB to 90 MB….That’s bad ! You cannot have 2G and 3G plans activated at the same point of time in your phone. You will pay 3G price for using 2G. • Why does it not allowed to use try-catch statement without {} ?

    - by alex
    Why can't I use code like this ? 1 int i = 0; try i = int.Parse("qwerty"); catch throw; 2 try i = int.Parse("qwerty"); catch; finally Log.Write("error"); And should write like this 1 int i = 0; try { i = int.Parse("qwerty"); } catch { throw; } 2 try { i = int.Parse("qwerty");} catch {} finally {Log.Write("error");} PS: I can use if-else statement without {}. Why should I use them with try-catch(-finally) statement ? Is there any meaningful reason ? Is it only because that some people think that code is hard to read ? Several months ago I asked that question on russian programming forum but I got no satisfactory answer ...
