    I got some problem with new graphic card. Every time I use AMD Catalyst drivers on Windows or Linux, screen repeatedly goes black. This usually shows u when i open new cards in a browser, resize a window or run a program. Card runs smoothly on basic drivers but this means low resolution. 1940x1080 is native for my monitor so it causes a lot of problems. I've got a 600W Deus G1, so the power is not the problem. Maybe its a silly question, but would going form a vga cable to hdmi help to improve this situation? If not, can it be caused by slow processor or old mainboard? Im getting kinda confused about this whole thing...

    From other posts here, I understand that it might be possible to use up to 3 monitors on this card. My understanding (from the other posts here as well) is that since I have a HDMI output, I do not have a 'DisplayPort', right ? Mine has indeed 3 ports: DVI, HDMI and VGA. Can I have dual-monitor using both the HDMI and DVI ports simulataneously (I am not looking for Eyefinity, but simply extended desktop). Currently I am using dual monitor with DVI and VGA but will replace my 17 inches next week with a new (larger) one that has both VGA and DVI, so I intend to use both monitors connected digitally. I intend to purchase a cable ''HDMI to DVI''(MM) to do so on the second monitor. Optimal resolution on the one I intend to keep (22 inches) : 1680 x 1050, primary monitor. New one (24 inches) has an optimal resolution of 1920 x 1080. Am I running for problems ? Thanks, Rob

  • How to get external 2.5 inch HD enclosure get recognised

    I am completely out of ideas. I have 2.5inch HDD from my old laptop, I have tried with 2 different HDD enclosures but my desktop does not recognize it. Not even showing in the disk management or BIOS. The HDD works fine if I use in a 3.5 inch enclosure with external power. I have tried 3 different Y USB cables. I have also got a 7 port self powered 2A USB hub. I have updated my chipset drivers as well. The problem is with my desktop , the enclosures work fine with my new laptop.     I was wondering for a long time if source based Linux distributions, like Gentoo or Funtoo are "destroying" your system faster than binary ones (like Fedora or Debian). I'm talking about CPU and hard drive degradation. Of course, when you're updating your system, it has to compile everything from source, so it takes longer and your CPU is used at hard conditions (it is warmer and more loaded). Such systems compile hundreds of packages weekly, so does it really matter? Does such a system degrade faster than binary based ones?

Here is my issue: when I go to AMD/ATI website to update my graphics card - it doesn't. when I type DxDiag and then click on display it tell me my version is 8.17.0 and its on 10.10.0 for the latest version. How can I get 8.17.0 too 10.10.0? I figure it would have done that after I updated the driver for my graphics card. Thanks.

    I have Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit with Unity. My system configuration is: CPU: Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.4 GHz) RAM: 8192 Mb DDR2 Kingston Video: Palit GeForce GTX 260 216 SP, and my screen resolution is 1680x1050. I also have Window 7 Ulitimate installed, and I can see the same files in Media Player Classic without any horizontal lines. I've installed vdpau driver, NVIDIA drivers 304.51, and MPlayer 2 (within SMPlayer). I've disabled "Sync to VBlank" option in CCSM (because in other way, by default, MPlayer process use about 50-60 percents of my processor load), tried to swich between different deinterlace options in SMPlayer, used "-vc ffh264vdpau,ffmpeg12vdpau" (without quotes) parameters for MPlayer, switched to "Ubuntu 2D", but, finally, have no results. Any suggestions? How must I to set up MPlayer?

  • Lots of artifacts while streaming HD content with VLC 0.9.9 on CentOS

    I'm trying to stream (multicast) a x264 encoded file using VLC. This in itself succeeds, but the stream has a huge lot of artifacts. This seems to suggest that the data cannot be transported fast enough. If I check network usage, though, it's only using about 15 mbit. I have a similar SD stream which functions perfectly. I think I could improve stream performance by not streaming the raw data, but I cannot seem to get this working. It seems that on keyframes all artifacts are removed for a short while (less than a second). This is the command I use: vlc -vv hdtest.mkv --sout '#duplicate{dst=rtp{dst=ff02::1%eth1,mux=ts,port=5678,sap,group="Testgroup",name="TeststreamHD"}}' --loop Which is all one long line.

  • HD Radeon 6950 cannot run multiple monitors

    I'm having troubles getting multiple monitors to run on my graphics card. I plug one via the hdmi, and one into the DVI (I have tried both available DVI ports). with one DVI port it does not even register the monitor, with the second one I go into the Catalyst Control Center and it gives me the option to swap between the HDMI and the DVI port. I guess since this is the flex edition I could just go get 2 DSP to HDMI converters, plug 2 monitors in through the available DSP, and than the 3rd one into the HDMI, but do you have any idea why it will not let me run one HDMI and one DVI?

  • Computer will not boot - disk read error - cannot boot from HD or DVD

    This is a 3 year-old system: HP a1640n. There have been no issues with it in the past. I added a video card 2 years ago, and more memory 1 year ago, both without issues. There haven't been any recent hardware changes. I did install Win7 in Oct., but there were no issues with that either. I used the computer fine two nights ago, and turned it off. Yesterday, I tried to turn it on, and got the error: "A Disk Read Error Occurred. Press CTRL ALT DEL to restart" So I restart, see the initial start screen (HP) and enter the BIOS. The hard drive and dvd drive appear to be listed, but the names are gibberish text. I tried putting a Windows disk in the dvd drive, and continued with the boot, but the disk did not get recognized. Even though the BIOS was set to check for optical media before the hard drive. Back to the error screen. If the computer would boot from a cd or dvd, I would just figure the hard drive needed replacing. But both being problematic worries me. Is this a matter of replacing both the hard drive and dvd drive, or might it be an indication of a bigger problem? Thanks for any advice.

    I recently purchased a "Seagate STBX1000200 1TB Expansion 2.5 inch External Hard Drive". It has been working without problems until recently. When i plug the device into a USB port the device is recognised as it appears in the device manager but when i go to Windows Explorer and try to open it (or right click on it) it hangs/freezes windows explorer. Please note i am using Windows 7 Professional. I have already tried various things without success after searching for people with similar problems. I did read that it could be a problem with how the computer assigns a drive letter. But whrn i go to disk management (when running as an administrator) it hangs and displays the following message: Connecting to virtual disk service I'd appreciate it if anyone could offer some advice.     Hello, I just stuck in a new 64 GB SSD (literally out of the box) into my Lenovo X61 laptop, replacing an old 5400 RPM 80 GB drive. When I boot the system, my motherboard successfully sees the SATA hard drive. Now I want to install Ubuntu on it. I stick it in the CD drive, bootup the system, and it gets to step 4 (choose partition), but sees no available partitions. Do I need to do something to the hard drive before installing Ubuntu?     Recently I bought an Acer Aspire One 725 Netbook and installed Ubuntu 12.10 on it. I bought it, because it can run HD movies and has Full HD on external VGA port. However, movies from youtube have a really slow framerate. If you open three tabs in Opera (for example g-mail, youtube and askubuntu) it gets really laggy. My suspicion is that the driver for graphic card is missing. When I check the System->Details->Graphics the driver is unknown. I want to capture each JPEG frame in a small application without doing any preview or decompression/transcoding to minimize CPU utilization to the minimum possible. I'm a C# developer, but I'm new to DirectShow. Is there a simple way to capture the MJPEG stream frame by frame as its output from the camera in C#/.NET without decompressing it?

  • APK Assets not loaded on Kindle Fire HD

    I have developed an App for the Amazon Kindle Fire HD. While distributing I got a report from amazon that its not running on almost all Kindle devices and a blackscreen is displayed. They send me a logcat log file and I found out that it's not possible to load some assets directly from APK file (accessing via C++ and zlib). Everything is running fine if I start it via Eclipse.     Hello, I recently noticed that when I play both HD and SD videos on my HDMI TV at 1080p 60Hz from my computer, the motion is not fluid as I would expect. As far as I know, it could be because the 24fps video needs to be upsampled by the codec to match the 60Hz output of the monitor. But, as far as I know, the upsampling is done by simply repeating each photogram for a certain amount of frames. I usually play MKV videos with VLC. Do you know if there is a player or codec that performs the upsampling by interpolation like some 100Hz TVs do? I recently saw an LG led TV play a 24fps 720p video at 100Hz with an incredible motion fluidity, and I simply wonder why can't my computer do! I have an NVidia card. Does PureVideo help? I'm a noob with these things. Thank you.

  • Verizon HTC Eris - No sound on incoming phone call after 2.1 droid upgrade. Help!?

    Has anyone had the following issue? I've had several issues as well: No sound when call connects, ringing or people talking. Apps would force close like weather. I did call HTC support and they had me go into Menu, Settings, Manage Applications and then clear the cache of the problem app. They also had me clear the cache once the browser was open and then do a soft reset (power off the phone and take the battery out for 15 seconds) This did fix some issues, but I am constantly turning my phone on and off to get sound back on call or to make the assigned ringtones work. There's no rhyme or reason as to why they stop working... Anyone else tried anything different??? Related problem statement... http://community.htc.com/na/htc-forums/android/f/32/p/2601/10344.aspx#10344 My wife and I are most concerned about the incoming call issue.
