  • I am having trouble using FileReader to write a txt file to an array (Java), what am I doing wrong?

    Scanner s = null; try { s = new Scanner(new BufferedReader(new FileReader("rates.txt"))); for (int i=0; i<9; i++){ while(s.hasNext()){rates[i] = s.next();} System.out.println(rates[i]); } }catch (IOException e){ System.out.println(e); } finally { if (s != null) { s.close(); } } When I run this code, it reads the last chunk of characters in my txt file, places them in rates[0], sticks null in 1-8, then puts that same last chunk in rates[9]. I'm not sure why it's reading the end of my file first. The contents of the txt are below.. USD 1.34 EUR 1.00 JPY 126.28 GBP 0.88 INR 60.20 It reads the 60.20, which is all it is recording in the array. Any help would be appreciated.

  • I am getting an error when trying to use melt() on a dataframe containing Dates

    I'd like to melt the dataframe so that in one column i have dates in a second i have username as the variable and finally the value. I'm getting this error: Error in as.Date.numeric(value) : 'origin' must be supplied and while I understand the error I'm not exactly sure how to get around it.     I wanted to learn how to create python packages, so I visited http://docs.python.org/distutils/index.html. For this exercise I'm using Python 2.6.2 on Windows XP. I followed along with the simple example and created a small test project: person/ setup.py person/ __init__.py person.py My person.py file is simple: class Person(object): def __init__(self, name="", age=0): self.name = name self.age = age def sound_off(self): print "%s %d" % (self.name, self.age) And my setup.py file is: from distutils.core import setup setup(name='person', version='0.1', packages=['person'], ) I ran python setup.py sdist and it created MANIFEST, dist/ and build/. Next I ran python setup.py install and it installed it to my site packages directory. I run the python console and can import the person module, but I cannot import the Person class. >>>import person >>>from person import Person Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> ImportError: cannot import name Person I checked the files added to site-packages and checked the sys.path in the console, they seem ok. Why can't I import the Person class. Where did I go wrong?

  • Why am I seeing a crash when trying to call CDHtmlDialog::OnInitDialog()

    I added a helpAbout menu item to my mfc app. I decided to make the ddlg derive from CDHTMLDialog. I override the OnInitDialog() method in my derived class and the first thing I do is call the parent's OnInitDialog() method. I then put in code that sets the title. On some machines this works fine, but on others it crashes in the call to CDHtmlDialog::OnInitDialog() - Trying to read a null pointer. the call stack has nothing useful - it is in mfc90.dll Is this a potential problem with mismatches of mfc/win32 dlls? It works on my vista machines but crashes on a win2003 server box.   • Why am I getting null object reference error when saving (OnItemUpdating event) the first edit item

    I'm getting the error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." when trying to reference a HiddenField (lvEditProjectSteps_hdnStepStatusId for future reference) from the EditItem during the OnItemUpdating event after the Update event fires in a ListView. This only occurs on the FIRST item in the ListView. I checked the source and the HTML is being rendered properly. ANY insight is appreciated! Thanks in advance...   • Am I Writing Assembly Or NASM?

    I'm fed up with this. I've been trying to just get a grip on assembly for awhile, but I feel like I'm coding towards my compiler rather than a language. I've been using this tutorial, and so far it's giving me hell. I'm using NASM, which may be the problem, but I figured it was the most popular one. I'm simply trying to learn the most general form of assembly, so I decided to learn x86. I keep running into stupid errors, like not being able to increment a variable. It seems like division should be standard. Do I need to read two tutorials (one on NASM, and one on x86?). Any specific help on this problem?

  • Why am I getting tree conflicts in subversion?

    I had a feature branch of my trunk and was merging changes from my trunk into my branch periodically and everything was working fine. Today I went to merge the branch back down into the trunk and any of the files that were added to my trunk after the creation of my branch were flagged as a "tree conflict". Is there any way to avoid this in the future? I don't think these are being properly flagged. Thanks.

    I was using phpmyadmin(in Wamp) without a password for root. I thought to set a password for root and goto Privileges page and set a password for root. Now whenever I go to localhost/phpmyadmin page it gives me the following error. You should check the host, username and password in your configuration and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server. I don't know that what is the problem. It is not showing me a login type page to enter a username and password. Any idea that what is the problem ? Thanks

    According to the Thinking Sphinx docs... Turning on delta indexing does not remove the need for regularly running a full re-index ... So I set up this cron job... 50 10 * * * cd /var/www/my_app/current && /opt/ruby/bin/rake thinking_sphinx:index RAILS_ENV=production >> /var/www/my_app/current/log/reindexing.log 2>&1 Is that a reasonable way to do it? Should I be doing something different?
