I thought of Policy based design (Andrei Alexandrescu) for C++, DI and AOP for Java. However, I also thought about using State design pattern for representing roles and some sort of Template method for the interactions... What are the other possibilities?

    What are the dangerous characters that should be replaced in user input when the users' input will be inserted in a MySQL query? I know about quotes, double quotes, \r and \n. Are there others?(I don't have the option of using a smart connector that accepts parameters so I have to build the query myself and this will be implemented in multiple programming languages, including some obscure ones so solutions such as mysql_real_escape_string in PHP are not valid)

But will there be a different (or easier way) to fix it? Is it as opposed to other languages, where using a { would start a new scope?

Meantime, some users prefer to using the language setup in their system.     Take the following code in C/C++, for example: int foo[] = {0, 0, 0, 0}; No magic numbers, right? Now, the Python "equivalent" of that would be: foo = [0, 0, 0, 0] Still no magic numbers. However, in Python, that same thing can be written like this: foo = [0] * 4 And now we DO have a magic number. Or do we? I'm guessing this and other similar things are present on these and other languages.

  • Why does Code::Blocks constantly changes my language?

    On my there are two set languages, which are English and Russian, and English is the default set language. Yet every time I leave Code::Blocks and click on the window again, the program automatically changes the language to Russian, which not only is it annoying, but it doesn't make much sense. Does anyone have any idea why it's going on and how to get rid of this pest? So far that's the best C++ IDE I have found and I don't want to ditch it due to such a nasty annoyance.
