  I could have sworn I used a chr() function 40 minutes ago but can't find the file. I know it can go up to 256 so I use this: std::string chars = ""; chars += (char) 42; //etc So that's alright, but I really want to access unicode characters. Can I do (w_char) 512? Or maybe something just like the unichr() function in python, I just can't find a way to access any of those characters.

  I'm trying to build a pager where it's just Next / Previous buttons that call a jquery function that post a JSON request. Inside the function, the current page "index" is retrieved from a hidden field and passed to the controller. Inside the controller, I reset the index if I'm on the last page of data. Really? Why? Wouldn't subsequent calls of the above function allocate memory elsewhere?

  usually, symbolic functions return vectors for vector inputs: syms('x'); f=x*2; subs(f,[1 2 3]) outputs: [2 4 6] but doing f=sym('0'); subs(f,[1 2 3]); outputs: 0 and not: [0 0 0] so basically, my questions is how do I make f behave as a "normal" symbolic function. I can do something ugly like f=x-x to create a function that always returns zero, but is there a prettier way?

• mySQL convert varchar to date

  I need to convert a varchar value of 1/9/2011 to a date in mySQL and I want only the month and year. So that I can then use the PERIOD_DIFF function (so I would need the above to be converted to 201101). I've tried various ways using the STR_TO_DATE function: SELECT STR_TO_DATE(CYOApp_oilChangedDate, '%m/%Y') FROM CYO_AppInfo But I get weird results... (for example: 2009-01-00) What am I doing incorrectly?
