  • Will [WithEvents = Nothing] RemoveHandlers in the derived class?

    - by serhio
    I use to set WithEvents variables to Nothing in Destuctor, because this will "Remove" all the Handlers associated with Handles keyword. Will this have the same effect for derivated classes? Class A Protected WithEvents _Foo as Button Private Sub _Foo_Click Handles _Foo.Click ' ... some Click action ' End Sub Public Sub Dispose(disposing as Boolean) If disposing then _Foo = Nothing ' remove handler _Foo_Click ' End Sub End Class Class B Inherits A Private Sub _Foo_Move Handles _Foo.Move ' ... some Move action ' End Sub ' ????? will or NOT remove OR handler _Foo_Move the base Dispose??' • Should I create a new window or modify the old one?

    - by Roman
    I am programming a GUI application in Java. I do it for the first time. I would like to have a form (with radio buttons and so on). After the form is filled in and the "Submit" button is pressed I would like to have a new window. I see two potential ways to do it: Close the "old" window and open a "new" one. Remove "old" elements from the existing window and put there "new" elements. What is the standard way to go? If it is the first way, what is the command to close the window? If it is the second one, how can I remove elements from the existing window?

  • How do I get the namespace prefix?

    - by 1.21 gigawatts
    Is there a way to get the namespace prefix from a class or class instance (an object not XML)? For example, in MXML you could declare something as s:Button or local:MyComponent. Is there some call or approach that will return the "s" or "local" value when given the object? For example, if I have the class TextInput and I wanted to show the style inheritance at runtime I could do something like this: s|TextInput { fontFamily:Arial; } s|TextArea#myTextArea { color:red; } local|MyComponent.myBoldStyle { fontWeight: bold; }

  • How to set ID of item when the item is not yet created..?

    - by hoppl
    I'll try to make myself clear with an example: Imagine an admin page to add a product to a database (product list). When I open the ADD ITEM page, the item is not yet created (not until I click the submit button), but let's say I want to add categories this product will appear in (with AJAX for example). When I run the AJAX script, i need to tell it which ID (my product) to put these categories in... How should I do this.? Is inserting a blank item in the database (to get mysql_insert_id) when the page opens a good way to do this.? Is it prone to conflicts or errors..? How do you guys do it.?

  • How do I reference a control in a different thread?

    - by Testifier
    //button is clicked //worker starts private void processWorker_DoWork(object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e) { string code = DoLongWorkAndReturnCode(); if (code != 0) { MessageBox.Show("Error!"); EnableAllButtons(); // this is defined in the other thread and it's where i run into the error. } else { string code = DoAnotherLongProcessAndReturnCode(); if (code != 0) { MessageBox.Show("Error 2!"); EnableAllButtons(); // again, this is defined in the other thread } } } I'm running into a cross threading error because "EnableAllButtons()" is defined in a different thread. How do I go about enabling all buttons in one thread, from a different thread?

  • [Flash Builder Profiler] Why some function have been called

    - by HarryWang

[Embed(source="Any.jpg")] public var NotUsedSource:Class; I think this just defined a class which represent some data. And I never use it or initialize any instance of it in this app. 4 Profile this app, when it is profiling I click the resize button of IE servral times. 5 From the profiled data a function named Testadd_NotUsedSource.flash.events:IEventDispatcher:dispatchEvent is been called 6 My question is why this function has been called. • UIAlertView popups lock up keyboard actions

    - by TurbZ
    I have a strange behavior where if a UIAlert fires (like the one below) all subsequent keyboard or press behaviors are disabled / non responsive. Scrolling the screen still works but no action is fired from any button or keyboard presses. [[[[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Invalid Address" message:@"The email address you entered isn't valid. Please check and try again." delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" otherButtonTitles:nil] autorelease] show]; Anyone experienced this behavior before and can shed some light? Or maybe guide me in the right direction to debug it further to get to the root cause? Thank you heaps!

    - by user553627
    Hello, Im working on an iPhone project using xcode and i actually have not programmed using objective-c before. So, my problem mainly is that my app crashes whenever i hit the button that it suppose to show a view of the world map. I think the problem is within the last 2 lines of the code but still i cant figure out why ?!! because whenever i comment out the line "[self presemtM.....]" the program doesn't crash. Would appreciate your help! -(IBAction) pushedGo:(id)sender { CLLocationCoordinate2D coord = {37.331689, -122.030731}; MapViewController *mapView = [[MapViewController alloc] initWithCoordinates:coord andTitle:@"Apple" andSubTitle:@"111"]; [self presentModalViewController:mapView animated:YES] [mapView release]; }

  • aspx page with gridview runs very fast in IE but 20% of the speed on Firefox

    - by frank2009
    Hi there I have a simple aspx page with some search options which queries an SQLEXpress database, and it is displayed in a gridview. For some reason, it runs lightning fast in IE but very slow in Firefox. It has very little code, a gridview a couple of images and a couple of textboxes and a search button. It was done with Expression Web so no additional code added. In production (not local) the speed is very noticiable when doing a search... IE displays the results almost instantly...Firefox might take 3-5 seconds. And everything else runs super fast as well in IE (update, delete etc). Is there a reason for this ? Thanks

  • Xenserver 5.5 U2 a bit unstable with an unstable W2003 VM

    - by twistedbrain
    In the last week I had to reboot the host system twice and the second one by means of the power button. The system is a Dell PE 6950 (4 Opteron dual core, 2,8 Ghz, 16 GB RAM, 900 GB disk in a RAID 10 array composed by 4 450GB 15000 rpm disks) with XenServer 5.5 U2. We're installing it and at now there are working in production a 2003 32 bit Windows server VM with 2 GB RAM, 3 vcpu and about 200 GB disk in 4 partition (12 GB boot, 20 GB program, 80 GB user data, 80 GB other data). The first time I was compressing many Windows 2003 folders (some tens GB by means of W2003 compressed folder option) from a Windows remote console and some hours before my colleague installed Backup Exec agent that was alredy installed and that required a reboot (that was pending). The console stopped responding, it was no more possible to connect by means of remote console or by means of the console of the XenCentre, it was still possible from the network to use the shared folder of the VM and the programs on it (2 db and a GIS program), but the print server didn't work any more and I couldn't give remote reboot from other domain controller hosts. I couldn't stop the virtual machine neither from the XenCentre, neither from the command line of the host also forcing the reboot. I had to reboot the host server. Yesterday it has been worst. I installed a template of another VM, CentOS 5.3 and then, put the DVD in the drive of the host. Then, before the install and after the boot I checked for defect the DVD and the W2003 VM began to respond slowly (I was connected by means of an administration remote console) the task manager showed only mid or low load, it is, only the first of the 3 vcpu was loaded (about 70%), while the other two were about at 20% and also the disk I/O was not so heavy. Then the users were not so happy because they couldn't any more use the MS word docs on the server. I immediately stopped the check of the DVD (to do that I had to force the stop of such Centos 5.3 VM), then some users could again use their docs, but other had still problems, so I decided to reboot the VM, but it doesn't stopped, neither from XenCenter, neither from command line, neither forcing the reboot. Then I tried to reboot of the host, but it didn't worked, neither from the XenCentre, neither from the host prompt (shutdown -r now as root: it told that it was shutting down, but then it didn't did that). So I had to power off by means of the power button of the server (before I tried some Magic SyS REQ, but I saw that Xen isn't compiled with this option enabled). What could you suggest about my problem, what can I look, search and see? In the W2003 VM logs there are no errors or warning to explain what happened. Some more exciting, amusing and inspiring words of poetry (the facts happened around 11 am): \# egrep -i 'err|warning' xensource.log [20100219 10:32:05.597|debug|culo|6301 unix-RPC|VBD.plug R:c81bcda701f6|xenops] watch: watching xenstore paths: [ /xapi/0/frontend/vbd/51712/hotplug; • Suspended Laptop Cannot Wake Up - Ubuntu

    - by Zack
    I've got an ASUS G73JH, and whenever I suspend it or hibernate it, it will not wake up. The screen stays backlight but is black. The fan remains running, however the HDD does not, not disk activity is noticeable (audibly (It's not a SSD)). I can't: Awaken it with the keyboard Awaken it with the mouse Soft power-off by pressing the power button Change virtual screens by pressing Ctrl-Alt-# Restart X by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Backspace I have to hold down the power button and shut it down that way, and this seems a little unreasonable. Is there a place I could look for more detail as to what's causing this? Is there a known quick-fix to this issue? Nothing is logged as happening when the system is in "suspend" mode. Here's what happened immediately before and after the suspend "happened," note the time gap: May 4 17:46:13 tofu NetworkManager: <info> (eth0): carrier now OFF (device state 1) May 4 17:48:57 tofu kernel: imklog 4.2.0, log source = /proc/kmsg started. • DevExpress AspxGridView clientside SelectionChanged problem when using paged ObjectDataSource

    - by Constantin Baciu
    The context is as follows: One DexExpress AspxGridView with a server-side paging/filtering/sorting mechanism (using ObjectDataSource). I've been having problems with the filter mechanism ( see this stack ). Now, the problem I'm having is this: the client-side events get mangled between DataSource events. :O . Let me explain what happens: if I change the page (or sort/filter for that matter), then, select one row from the grid, the client-side SelectionChanged event fires well. If I change the page (or sort/filter), the event doesn't fire anymore. Instead, on the server side, I get a "The method or operation is not implemented" exception with the following stack-trace: at DevExpress.Web.Data.WebDataProviderBase.GetListSouceRowValue(Int32 listSourceRowIndex, String fieldName) at DevExpress.Web.Data.WebDataProxy.GetListSourceRowValue(Int32 listSourceRowIndex, String fieldName) at DevExpress.Web.Data.WebDataProxy.GetKeyValueCore(Int32 index, GetKeyValueCallback getKeyValue) at DevExpress.Web.Data.WebDataSelectionBase.GetSelectedValues(String[] fieldNames, Int32 visibleStartIndex, Int32 visibleRowCountOnPage) at DevExpress.Web.Data.WebDataProxy.GetSelectedValues(String[] fieldNames) at DevExpress.Web.ASPxGridView.ASPxGridView.FBSelectFieldValues(String[] args) at DevExpress.Web.ASPxGridView.ASPxGridView.GetCallbackResultCore() at DevExpress.Web.ASPxGridView.ASPxGridView.GetCallbackResult() at DevExpress.Web.ASPxClasses.ASPxWebControl.System.Web.UI.ICallbackEventHandler.GetCallbackResult() Am I doing something wrong? • How to upload a file from iPhone SDK to an ASP.NET vb.net web form using ASIFormDataRequest

    Download http://allseeing-i.com/ASIHTTPRequest/. This works like a charm and is a good wrapper and handles things nicely. The make the request this way to the asp.net code listed below. • Send large JSON data to WCF Rest Service

    - by Christo Fur
    Hi I have a client web page that is sending a large json object to a proxy service on the same domain as the web page. The proxy (an ashx handler) then forwards the request to a WCF Rest Service. Using a WebClient object (standard .net object for making a http request) The JSON successfully arrives at the proxy via a jQuery POST on the client webpage. However, when the proxy forwards this to the WCF service I get a Bad Request - Error 400 This doesn't happen when the size of the json data is small The WCF service contract looks like this [WebInvoke(Method = "POST", BodyStyle = WebMessageBodyStyle.Wrapped, RequestFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json, ResponseFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json)] [OperationContract] CarConfiguration CreateConfiguration(CarConfiguration configuration); And the DataContract like this [DataContract(Namespace = "")] public class CarConfiguration { [DataMember(Order = 1)] public int CarConfigurationId { get; set; } [DataMember(Order = 2)] public int UserId { get; set; } [DataMember(Order = 3)] public string Model { get; set; } [DataMember(Order = 4)] public string Colour { get; set; } [DataMember(Order = 5)] public string Trim { get; set; } [DataMember(Order = 6)] public string ThumbnailByteData { get; set; } [DataMember(Order = 6)] public string Wheel { get; set; } [DataMember(Order = 7)] public DateTime Date { get; set; } [DataMember(Order = 8)] public List<string> Accessories { get; set; } [DataMember(Order = 9)] public string Vehicle { get; set; } [DataMember(Order = 10)] public Decimal Price { get; set; } } When the ThumbnailByteData field is small, all is OK. When it is large I get the 400 error What are my options here? I've tried increasing the MaxBytesRecived config setting but that is not enough Any ideas?

  • DataContractSerializer and deserializing web service response types

    - by matra
    Hi, I am using calling web services and using WCF generated service-reference on the client. I have saved XML responses that are received from test service to disk (without SOAP envelope and body tags) I would like to load them from disk and create objects from them. Lets' take the following method from my web service: SomeMethodResponse SomeMethod(SomeMethodRequest req) I manually (through SOAP UI) save the response to disk to file, Sample response: < SomeMethodResponse xmlns="http://myNamespace"> <SomeMember1>value</SomeMember1> </SomeMethodResponse xmlns="http://myNamespace"> Then I try to deserialize the object from file using: DataContractSerializer dcs = new DataContractSerializer(typeof(SomeMethodResponse)) This fails – the serializer complains with the error, that it is expecting element in namespace 'http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07', but found element in 'http://myNamespace'. Question: Why does the DataContractSerializer not use the namespace, that is declared on SomeMethodResponseType with XmlTypeAttribute(Namespace="http://myNamespace")? I can work around this by explicitly providing the namespace and the root element to DataContractSerializer constructor. But then it fails with message similar to: Error in line X position Y (last line of the XMLdocument). 'EndElement' 'SomeMethodResponse from namespace 'httpmyNapespace’ is not expected. Expecting element 'someNameField'. SomeName is an element in the XSD that web service is using. It is also a property on the SomeMethodResponse type, backed by the private field called someNameField. It looks like DataContractSerializer is trying to deserialize the fields in addition to properties. How can I deserailize XML that I have saved from disk and get back the object of same type that SomeMethod is returning? Thanks, Matra

  • Passing parameters to telerik asp.net mvc grid

    - by GlobalCompe
    I have a telerik asp.net mvc grid which needs to be populated based on the search criteria the user enters in separate text boxes. The grid is using ajax method to load itself initially as well as do paging. How can one pass the search parameters to the grid so that it sends those parameters "every time" it calls the ajax method in response to the user clicking on another page to go to the data on that page? I read the telerik's user guide but it does not mention this scenario. The only way I have been able to do above is by passing the parameters to the rebind() method on client side using jquery. The issue is that I am not sure if it is the "official" way of passing parameters which will always work even after updates. I found this method on this post on telerik's site: link text I have to pass in multiple parameters. The action method in the controller when called by the telerik grid runs the query again based on the search parameters. Here is a snippet of my code: $("#searchButton").click(function() { var grid = $("#Invoices").data('tGrid'); var startSearchDate = $("#StartDatePicker-input").val(); var endSearchDate = $("#EndDatePicker-input").val(); grid.rebind({ startSearchDate: startSearchDate , endSearchDate: endSearchDate }); } );

  • Why doesn't my NamedPipeServerStream wait??

    - by Frank Fella
    I'm working with a NamedPipeServerStream to communicate between two processes. Here is the code where I initialize and connect the pipe: void Foo(IHasData objectProvider) { Stream stream = objectProvider.GetData(); if (stream.Length > 0) { using (NamedPipeServerStream pipeServer = new NamedPipeServerStream("VisualizerPipe", PipeDirection.Out, 1, PipeTransmissionMode.Byte, PipeOptions.Asynchronous)) { string currentDirectory = Path.GetDirectoryName(Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().Location); string uiFileName = Path.Combine(currentDirectory, "VisualizerUIApplication.exe"); Process.Start(uiFileName); if(pipeServer.BeginWaitForConnection(PipeConnected, this).AsyncWaitHandle.WaitOne(5000)) { while (stream.CanRead) { pipeServer.WriteByte((byte)stream.ReadByte()); } } else { throw new TimeoutException("Pipe connection to UI process timed out."); } } } } private void PipeConnected(IAsyncResult e) { } But it never seems to wait. I constantly get the following exception: System.InvalidOperationException: Pipe hasn't been connected yet. at System.IO.Pipes.PipeStream.CheckWriteOperations() at System.IO.Pipes.PipeStream.WriteByte(Byte value) at PeachesObjectVisualizer.Visualizer.Show(IDialogVisualizerService windowService, IVisualizerObjectProvider objectProvider) I would think that after the wait returns everything should be ready to go. If I use pipeServer.WaitForConnection() everything works fine, but hanging the application if the pipe doesn't connect is not an option.

  • BinaryWrite exception "OutputStream is not available when a custom TextWriter is used" in MVC 2 ASP.

    - by Grant
    Hi, I have a view rendering a stream using the response BinaryWrite method. This all worked fine under ASP.NET 4 using the Beta 2 but throws this exception in the RC release: "HttpException" , "OutputStream is not available when a custom TextWriter is used." <%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage" %> <%@ Import Namespace="System.IO" %> <script runat="server"> protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (ViewData["Error"] == null) { Response.Buffer = true; Response.Clear(); Response.ContentType = ViewData["DocType"] as string; Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", ViewData["Disposition"] as string); Response.CacheControl = "No-cache"; MemoryStream stream = ViewData["DocAsStream"] as MemoryStream; Response.BinaryWrite(stream.ToArray()); Response.Flush(); Response.Close(); } } </script> </script> The view is generated from a client side redirect (jquery replace location call in the previous page using Url.Action helper to render the link of course). This is all in an iframe. Anyone have an idea why this occurs?

  • WPF: TreeViewItem bound to an ICommand

    - by Richard
    Hi All, I am busy creating my first MVVM application in WPF. Basically the problem I am having is that I have a TreeView (System.Windows.Controls.TreeView) which I have placed on my WPF Window, I have decide that I will bind to a ReadOnlyCollection of CommandViewModel items, and these items consist of a DisplayString, Tag and a RelayCommand. Now in the XAML, I have my TreeView and I have successfully bound my ReadOnlyCollection to this. I can view this and everything looks fine in the UI. The issue now is that I need to bind the RelayCommand to the Command of the TreeViewItem, however from what I can see the TreeViewItem doesn't have a Command. Does this force me to do it in the IsSelected property or even in the Code behind TreeView_SelectedItemChanged method or is there a way to do this magically in WPF? This is the code I have: <TreeView BorderBrush="{x:Null}" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" VerticalAlignment="Stretch"> <TreeView.Items> <TreeViewItem Header="New Commands" ItemsSource="{Binding Commands}" DisplayMemberPath="DisplayName" IsExpanded="True"> </TreeViewItem> </TreeView.Items> and ideally I would love to just go: <TreeView BorderBrush="{x:Null}" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" VerticalAlignment="Stretch"> <TreeView.Items> <TreeViewItem Header="New Trade" ItemsSource="{Binding Commands}" DisplayMemberPath="DisplayName" IsExpanded="True" Command="{Binding Path=Command}"> </TreeViewItem> </TreeView.Items> Does someone have a solution that allows me to use the RelayCommand infrastructure I have. Thanks guys, much appreciated! Richard

And this is the MyPage Class public class MyPage : Page { public override void VerifyRenderingInServerForm(Control control) { //Empty Method } public override bool EnableEventValidation { get { return false; } set { /* Do nothing */} } } Any help would be very appreciated. This is done on .NET 4 and I'm using ReportViewer 2010. Many thanks, Maya.

  • Obtaining MFC Feature Pack GUI elements in .NET WinForms

    - by Cody Gray
    The MFC Feature Pack (and VS 2010) adds out-of-the-box support for several "modern" GUI elements (such as MDI with tabbed documents, the ribbon, and a Visual Studio-style interface with docking panels). These are a boon to those of us that have to support legacy MFC-based applications and want to update their look-and-feel, and a sign that Microsoft has not completely abandoned unmanaged C++ development. However, with the push so strongly in favor of .NET, WinForms, and managed code (and for plenty of good reasons), there seems little reason to develop new applications in unmanaged C++/MFC. The question then becomes how does one obtain these GUI elements in a WinForms application. Almost all of the add-ons and libraries I have found so far cost money, and introduce additional dependencies. I don't have a budget to buy third-party libraries, and the controls provided by Microsoft in MFC for free seem sufficient for our needs. But I still have reservations about learning MFC to develop a new application. Not only does the investment in time seem significant (by all accounts, MFC seems particularly difficult to learn, even for experienced .NET developers--although I am willing to try), but the question of MFC's lifespan is raised as well. Certainly, given the millions of lines of code and existing apps written in native C++, it will be around for some time, but the handwriting seems to be on the wall, so to speak, that it's no longer Microsoft's touted development platform. It seems like these features should be available by now in WinForms without the need for third-party add-ons, or devoting a lot of time and resources to custom-drawing EVERYTHING. Am I just missing something? I find very little online that compares these new features of MFC to what is available in WinForms, mainly because most everything written on MFC pre-dated its most recent update, before which it looked admitted "dated," and with its other flaws, was hardly an appealing platform for new development. With the very recent release of VS 2010, we have a while to wait before WinForms gets updated again. What routes are you guys taking for applications whose customers demand a modern-looking UI on a budget?
