  • Overlay SVG diagrams on google maps

    - by ThibThib
    Hello I would like to add an overlay image on a google map. This image is a SVG file I have generated (python with svgfig). I am using the following code if (GBrowserIsCompatible()) { var map = new GMap2(document.getElementById("map_canvas")); map.setCenter(new GLatLng(48.8, 2.4), 12);     // ground overlay     var boundaries = new GLatLngBounds(new GLatLng(48.283188032632829, 1.9675270369830129), new GLatLng(49.187215000000002, 2.7771877478303999));     var oldmap = new GGroundOverlay("test.svg", boundaries); map.addControl(new GSmallMapControl()); map.addControl(new GMapTypeControl()); map.addOverlay(oldmap); } Surprisingly, it works with Safari 4, but it doesn't with Firefox (with Safari 3, the background is not transparent) Does anyone has an idea on how I could overlay a SVG ? Thanks PS1: I read some works like this or the source code of swa.ethz.ch/googlemaps, but it seems that they have to use javascript code to parse the SVG and add one by one all the elements (but I did not understood all the source...) PS2: The SVG is composed of different filled paths and circles, with transparency. If there is no solution to overlay my SVG, I can use 2 alternative solutions: rasterize the SVG convert the paths and circles in GPolygons But, I do not really like the 1st solution because of the poor quality of the bitmap and the time to generate it with antialiasing. And for the 2nd solutions, the arcs, ellipses and circles will have to be decomposed into small polylines. A lot of them will be necessary for a good result. But I have around 3000 arcs and circles to draw, so...

  • Enter ID instead of name on submit (form)

    - by Derek
    In my activities table, I have a user ID and a project ID. When a user (of admin level) creates an activity they select from a drop down menu a project. Here is the select query to draw up appropriate values: $sql = "SELECT usersprojects_tb.projectid, projects.projectname FROM projects INNER JOIN usersprojects on projects.projectid = usersprojects.projectid WHERE usersprojects.userid = '".$_SESSION['SESS_USERID']."'"; And for the tag with the dropdown menu, I have this: <?php echo $row['projectname']?> I have tried submitting the form with 'projectid' here instead and the project ID is stored successfully in my activies table. However, the user needs to see the project names (IDs arent exactly user-friendly!) And with 'projectname' as displayed, they can select the names of the available projects (to associate an activity with) but the project ID is not stored, how I link this up, so that when the project name is sent, the ID for this project is stored properly in my activities table. I'm also having the exact same problem with the users drop down. As the admin user selects a user from the drop down to assign the task to. I exactly what I want, but I think I may be using the wrong syntax! Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

  • Is F# a good language for card game AI?

    - by Anthony Brien
    I'm writing a Mahjong Game in C# (the Chinese traditional game, not the solitaire kind). While writing the code for the bot player's AI, I'm wondering if a functional language like F# would be a more suitable language than what I currently use which is C# with a lot of Linq. I don't know much about F# which is why I ask here. To illustrate what I try to solve, here's a quick summary of Mahjong: Mahjong plays a bit like Gin Rummy. You have 13 tiles in your hand, and each turn, you draw a tile and discard another one, trying to improve your hand towards a winning Mahjong hand, which consists or 4 sets and a pair. Sets can be a 3 of a kind (pungs), 4 of a kind (kongs) or a sequence of 3 consecutive tiles (chows). You can also steal another player's discard, if it can complete one of your sets. The code I had to write to detect if the bot can declare 3 consecutive tiles set (chow) is pretty tedious. I have to find all the unique tiles in the hand, and then start checking if there's a sequence of 3 tiles that contain that one in the hand. Detecting if the bot can go Mahjong is even more complicated since it's a combination of detecting if there's 4 sets and a pair in his hand. And that's just a standard Mahjong hand. There's also numerous "special" hands that break those rules but are still a Mahjong hand. For example, "13 unique wonders" consists of 13 specific tiles, "Jade Empire" consists of only tiles colored green, etc. In a perfect world, I'd love to be able to just state the 'rules' of Mahjong, and have the language be able to match a set of 13 tiles against those rules to retrieve which rules it fulfills, for example, checking if it's a Mahjong hand or if it includes a 4 of a kind. Is this something F#'s pattern matching feature can help solve?

  • Cursor on Path doesn't appear in SilverLight

    - by Rahul Soni
    I am trying to draw a circle with a glass effect using Alpha. I am successful in creating that by using the below XAML. The cursor changes to Hand for the Ellipses, but it doesn't affect Path. Basically, I want to show "hand" cursor wherever the mouse appears over the circle. I hope this is not a known issue and I am missing something small. Any help is really appreciated. <Ellipse Cursor="Hand" Width="200" Height="200" Fill="#C42222" Canvas.Left="0" Canvas.Top="0" /> <Ellipse Cursor="Hand" Width="200" Height="200" Canvas.Left="0" Canvas.Top="0"> <Ellipse.Fill> <RadialGradientBrush GradientOrigin="0.3,0.7"> <GradientStop Offset="0" Color="#00000000" /> <GradientStop Offset="1" Color="#66000000" /> </RadialGradientBrush> </Ellipse.Fill> </Ellipse> <Path Cursor="Hand" Stretch="Fill" Height="114.598" Width="198.696" Data="M98.388435,-1.3301961 C98.388435,-1.3301961 117.1151,-3.094949 141.69321,8.1370029 C156.42262,14.868201 167.67375,23.694145 175.66234,33.657074 C183.67349,43.648144 181.90166,37.8708 191.90166,58.8708 C201.90166,79.870796 199.16658,89.212738 199.13568,92.90377 C198.77556,135.92146 175.45959,97.59124 156.75465,81.024025 C140.98892,67.060104 117.41241,64.357407 114.41241,64.357407 C111.4124,64.357407 83.061241,60.114159 63.061195,71.114143 C43.061146,82.114136 39.637829,86.429352 22.999804,100.99996 C6.5005584,115.44904 2.9997537,112.99996 2.9997537,112.99996 C2.9997537,112.99996 -1.1832786,97.194221 1.9997513,81.999893 C7.2054667,57.150185 13.999762,47.999939 17.999771,42.999943 C21.999781,37.99995 29.935833,23.400871 54.053131,10.21261 C78.91642,-3.3835876 98.388435,-1.3301961 98.388435,-1.3301961 z"> <Path.Fill> <LinearGradientBrush EndPoint="0,1" StartPoint="0,0"> <GradientStop Color="#55FFFFFF" Offset="0"/> <GradientStop Color="#11FFFFFF" Offset="0.5"/> <GradientStop Color="#00FFFFFF" Offset="1"/> </LinearGradientBrush> </Path.Fill> </Path>

  • How can I apply a style to existing tikz node on specific slides

    - by Eugene Pimenov
    This is what I'm trying to do \begin{tikzpicture} [node distance = 1cm, auto,font=\footnotesize, % STYLES every node/.style={node distance=1.3cm}, comment/.style={rectangle, inner sep= 5pt, text width=4cm, node distance=0.25cm, font=}, module/.style={rectangle, drop shadow, draw, fill=black!10, inner sep=5pt, text width=3cm, text badly centered, minimum height=0.8cm, font=\bfseries\footnotesize\sffamily,rounded corners}, selected/.style={fill=red!40}] \node [module] (nodeA) {node A}; \node [module, below of=nodeA] (nodeA) {node B}; \only<1>{ \node [comment, text width=6cm, right=0.25 of nodeA] {short description of Node A}; \node [comment, text width=6cm, right=0.25 of nodeB] {short description of Node B}; } \only<2>{ \node [selected] (nodeA) {}; \node [comment, text width=6cm, right=0.25 of nodeA] {long description of node A}; } \only<3>{ \node [selected] (nodeB) {}; \node [comment, text width=6cm, right=0.25 of nodeA] {long description of node B}; } \end{tikzpicture} The problem is \node [selected] (nodeB) {}; creates a new node, but I want it to apply the style for the existing node. Is there any way to do so? Of course I could have copies of every node in selected state and not-selected state, but I really want to have a normal solution.

  • Choosing circle radius to fully fill a rectangle

    - by Andy
    Hi, the pixman image library can draw radial color gradients between two circles. I'd like the radial gradient to fill a rectangular area defined by "width" and "height" completely. Now my question, how should I choose the radius of the outer circle? My current parameters are the following: A) inner circle (start of gradient) center pointer of inner circle: (width*0.5|height*0.5) radius of inner circle: 1 color: black B) outer circle (end of gradient) center pointer of outer circle: (width*0.5|height*0.5) radius of outer circle: ??? color: white How should I choose the radius of the outer circle to make sure that the outer circle will entirely fill my bounding rectangle defined by width*height. There shall be no empty areas in the corners, the area shall be completely covered by the circle. In other words, the bounding rectangle width,height must fit entirely into the outer circle. Choosing outer_radius = max(width, height) * 0.5 as the radius for the outer circle is obviously not enough. It must be bigger, but how much bigger? Thanks!

  • Highlighting a piechart slice from an HTML element (mouseover)

    - by nickhar
    I have a series of HTML table cells with data - an example of which is: <tr id="rrow1"> <td> <a href="/electricity" class="category">Electricity</a> </td> <td> 901.471 </td> </tr> <tr id="rrow2">... <tr id="rrow3">... etc In this case, each <tr> (or hypathetically for the wider community a div/span/tr/td) is assigned a sequential id based on $rrow++; in a while loop (in PHP). I also have a Piechart using the highcharts library, where i'd like to highlight the slice (sliced: true) based upon onmouseover of particular div/span/tr/td element - in this case #rrow1 as above, but multiple/iterative elements as required and (sliced: false) onmouseout... As a simple example, I've tried accessing various derivatives of the following, but failed: $('#rrow1').mouseover(function() { chart.series[0].graph.attr('sliced', true); }); $('#rrow1').mouseout(function() { chart.series[0].graph.attr('sliced', false); }); The nearest I've found is this but bastardised at most and without success: plotOptions: { series: { mouseOver: function() { if( $('#rrow1').mouseover ) series.x = sliced: true; }, mouseOut: function() { if( $('#rrow1').mouseout ) series.x = sliced: false; } } } These are far from approaching correct and despite searching I can't find a valid/helpful example to work from or draw direction. You can view the pie chart in question on jsfiddle here.

  • how to display my list with n amount on each line in Python

    - by user1786698
    im trying to display my list with 7 states on each line here is what i have so far, but it displays as one long string of all the states with quotes around each state. I forgot to mention that this is for my CS class and we havent learned iter yet so we not allowed to use it. the only hint i was given was to to turn STATE_LIST into a string then use '\n' to break it up state = str(STATE_LIST) displaystates = Text(Point(WINDOW_WIDTH/2, WINDOW_HEIGHT/2), state.split('\n')) displaystates.draw(win) and STATE_LIST looks like this STATE_VOTES = { "AL" : 9, # Alabama "AK" : 3, # Alaska "AZ" : 11, # Arizona "AR" : 6, # Arkansas "CA" : 55, # California "CO" : 9, # Colorado "CT" : 7, # Connecticut "DE" : 3, # Delaware "DC" : 3, # Washington DC "FL" : 29, # Florida "GA" : 16, # Georgia "HI" : 4, # Hawaii "ID" : 4, # Idaho "IL" : 20, # Illinois "IN" : 11, # Indiana "IA" : 6, # Iowa "KS" : 6, # Kansas "KY" : 8, # Kentucky "LA" : 8, # Louisiana "ME" : 4, # Maine "MD" : 10, # Maryland "MA" : 11, # Massachusetts "MI" : 16, # Michigan "MN" : 10, # Minnesota "MS" : 6, # Mississippi "MO" : 10, # Missouri "MT" : 3, # Montana "NE" : 5, # Nebraska "NV" : 6, # Nevada "NH" : 4, # New Hampshire "NJ" : 14, # New Jersey "NM" : 5, # New Mexico "NY" : 29, # New York "NC" : 15, # North Carolina "ND" : 3, # North Dakota "OH" : 18, # Ohio "OK" : 7, # Oklahoma "OR" : 7, # Oregon "PA" : 20, # Pennsylvania "RI" : 4, # Rhode Island "SC" : 9, # South Carolina "SD" : 3, # South Dakota "TN" : 11, # Tennessee "TX" : 38, # Texas "UT" : 6, # Utah "VT" : 3, # Vermont "VA" : 13, # Virginia "WA" : 12, # Washington "WV" : 5, # West Virginia "WI" : 10, # Wisconsin "WY" : 3 # Wyoming } STATE_LIST = sorted(list(STATE_VOTES.keys())) I am trying to get it to look somewhat like this

  • How to manage multiple python versions ?

    - by Gyom
    short version: how can I get rid of the multiple-versions-of-python nightmare ? long version: over the years, I've used several versions of python, and what is worse, several extensions to python (e.g. pygame, pylab, wxPython...). Each time it was on a different setup, with different OSes, sometimes different architectures (like my old PowerPC mac). Nowadays I'm using a mac (OSX 10.6 on x86-64) and it's a dependency nightmare each time I want to revive script older than a few months. Python itself already comes in three different flavours in /usr/bin (2.5, 2.6, 3.1), but I had to install 2.4 from macports for pygame, something else (cannot remember what) forced me to install all three others from macports as well, so at the end of the day I'm the happy owner of seven (!) instances of python on my system. But that's not the problem, the problem is, none of them has the right (i.e. same set of) libraries installed, some of them are 32bits, some 64bits, and now I'm pretty much lost. For example right now I'm trying to run a three-year-old script (not written by me) which used to use matplotlib/numpy to draw a real-time plot within a rectangle of a wxwidgets window. But I'm failing miserably: py26-wxpython from macports won't install, stock python has wxwidgets included but also has some conflict between 32 bits and 64 bits, and it doesn't have numpy... what a mess ! Obviously, I'm doing things the wrong way. How do you usally cope with all that chaos ?e

  • Use Struct as a Ptr/class? Need a fix .NET

    - by acidzombie24
    I wrote a bunch of code and i would like to fix it the fastest way possible. I'll describe my problem in a easier way. I have apples and oranges, they are both Point and in the list apples, oranges. I create a PictureBox and draw the apple/oranges on screen and move them around and update the Point via Tag. The problem now is since its a struct the tag is a copy so the original elements in the list are not update. So, how do i update them? I consider using Point? But those seem to be readonly. So the only solution i can think of is Clear the list, iterate through all the controls then check the picturebox property to check if the image is a apple or orange then add it to a list I really only thought of this solution typing this question, but my main question is, is there a better way? Is there some List<Ptr<Point>> class i can use so when i update the apples or oranges through the tag the element in the list will update as a class would?

  • Raphael.js: Adding a new custom element

    - by Claudia
    I would like to create a custom Raphael element, with custom properties and functions. This object must also contain predefined Raphael objects. For example, I would have a node class, that would contain a circle with text and some other elements inside it. The problem is to add this new object to a set. These demands are needed because non-Raphael objects cannot be added to sets. As a result, custom objects that can contain Raphael objects cannot be used. The code would look like this: var Node = function (paper) { // Coordinates & Dimensions this.x = 0, this.y = 0, this.radius = 0, this.draw = function () { this.entireSet = paper.set(); var circle = paper.circle(this.x, this.y, this.radius); this.circleObj = circle; this.entireSet.push(circle); var text = paper.text(this.x, this.y, this.text); this.entireSet.push(text); } // other functions } var NodeList = function(paper){ this.nodes = paper.set(), this.populateList = function(){ // in order to add a node to the set // the object must be of type Raphael object // otherwise the set will have no elements this.nodes.push(// new node) } this.nextNode = function(){ // ... } this.previousNode = function(){ // ... } }

  • Ruby GraphViz Binary Tree Record

    - by Jason M
    I'm using the ruby-graphviz gem and I'm trying to draw binary trees. I'd like to use the record shape so that each node can have a left, middle, and right field and, thus, if there are two edges leaving a node, the left and right edges can be distinguished. I tried specifying the field by concatenating the field name like this: @node1.name + ":left" But that did not work. What is the correct way of specifying the field? require 'rubygems' require 'graphviz' @graph = GraphViz.new( :G, :type => :digraph ) @node1 = @graph.add_node("1", "shape" => "record", "label" => "<left>|<f1> 1|<right>" ) @node2 = @graph.add_node("2", "shape" => "record", "label" => "<left>|<f1> 2|<right>" ) @graph.add_edge(@node1.name + ":left", @node2) # generate a random filename filename = "/tmp/#{(0...8).map{65.+(rand(25)).chr}.join}.png" @graph.output( :png => filename ) exec "open #{filename}"

  • what is the point of heterogenous arrays?

    - by aharon
    I know that more-dynamic-than-Java languages, like Python and Ruby, often allow you to place objects of mixed types in arrays, like so: ["hello", 120, ["world"]] What I don't understand is why you would ever use a feature like this. If I want to store heterogenous data in Java, I'll usually create an object for it. For example, say a User has int ID and String name. While I see that in Python/Ruby/PHP you could do something like this: [["John Smith", 000], ["Smith John", 001], ...] this seems a bit less safe/OO than creating a class User with attributes ID and name and then having your array: [<User: name="John Smith", id=000>, <User: name="Smith John", id=001>, ...] where those <User ...> things represent User objects. Is there reason to use the former over the latter in languages that support it? Or is there some bigger reason to use heterogenous arrays? N.B. I am not talking about arrays that include different objects that all implement the same interface or inherit from the same parent, e.g.: class Square extends Shape class Triangle extends Shape [new Square(), new Triangle()] because that is, to the programmer at least, still a homogenous array as you'll be doing the same thing with each shape (e.g., calling the draw() method), only the methods commonly defined between the two.

  • Determining the color of a pixel in a bitmap using C# in a WPF app

    - by DanM
    The only way I found so far is System.Drawing.Bitmap.GetPixel(), but Microsoft has warnings for System.Drawing that are making me wonder if this is the "old way" to do it. Are there any alternatives? Here's what Microsoft says about the System.Drawing namespace. I also noticed that the System.Drawing assembly was not automatically added to the references when I created a new WPF project. System.Drawing Namespace The System.Drawing namespace provides access to GDI+ basic graphics functionality. More advanced functionality is provided in the System.Drawing.Drawing2D, System.Drawing.Imaging, and System.Drawing.Text namespaces. The Graphics class provides methods for drawing to the display device. Classes such as Rectangle and Point encapsulate GDI+ primitives. The Pen class is used to draw lines and curves, while classes derived from the abstract class Brush are used to fill the interiors of shapes. Caution Classes within the System.Drawing namespace are not supported for use within a Windows or ASP.NET service. Attempting to use these classes from within one of these application types may produce unexpected problems, such as diminished service performance and run-time exceptions. - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.drawing.aspx

  • How to create a chart from mysql data?

    - by user187580
    Hello, I have some data and want to create some dynamic charts. I have looked on Google visualisation api .. It looks great but the problem is I am not very familiar with it. Any ideas, how I can set the data.setValue from mysql data. <script type='text/javascript'> google.load('visualization', '1', {'packages': ['geomap']}); google.setOnLoadCallback(drawMap); function drawMap() { var data = new google.visualization.DataTable(); data.addRows(6); data.addColumn('string', 'Country'); data.addColumn('number', 'Popularity'); data.setValue(0, 0, 'Germany'); data.setValue(0, 1, 200); data.setValue(1, 0, 'United States'); data.setValue(1, 1, 300); data.setValue(2, 0, 'Brazil'); data.setValue(2, 1, 400); data.setValue(3, 0, 'Canada'); data.setValue(3, 1, 500); data.setValue(4, 0, 'France'); data.setValue(4, 1, 600); data.setValue(5, 0, 'RU'); data.setValue(5, 1, 700); var options = {}; options['dataMode'] = 'regions'; var container = document.getElementById('map_canvas'); var geomap = new google.visualization.GeoMap(container); geomap.draw(data, options); }; </script> I can create chart using some other methods but just interested in using Google Visualisation API. Thanks.

  • Can't Display Bitmap of Higher Resolution than CDC area

    - by T. Jones
    Hi there dear gurus and expert coders. i am not gonna start with im a newbie and don't know much about image programming but unfortunately those are the facts :( I am trying to display an image from a bitmap pointer *ImageData which is of resolution 1392x1032. I am trying to draw that at an area of resolution or size 627x474. However, repeated trying doesnt seem to work. It works when I change the bitmap image I created from *ImageData width and height to resolution or size of around 627x474 I really do not know how to solve this after trying all possible solutions from various forums and google. pDC is a CDC* and memDC is a CDC initialized in an earlier method Anything uninitialized here was initialized in other methods. Here is my code dear humble gurus. Do provide me with guidance Yoda and Obi-Wan provided to Luke Skywalker. void DemoControl::ShowImage( void *ImageData ) { int Width; //Width of Image From Camera int Height; //Height of Image From Camera int m_DisplayWidth = 627 ;//width of rectangle area to display int m_DisplayHeight = 474;//height of rectangle area to display GetImageSize( &Width, &Height ) ; //this will return Width = 1392, Height 1032 CBitmap bitmap; bitmap.CreateBitmap(Width,Height,32,1,ImageData); CBitmap* pOldBitmap = memDC.SelectObject((CBitmap*)&bitmap); pDC->BitBlt(22, 24, 627, 474, &memDC, 0, 0, SRCCOPY); memDC.SelectObject((CBitmap*)pOldBitmap); ReleaseDC(pDC); }

  • The best way to implement drawing features like Keynote

    - by Shamseddine
    Hi all, I'm trying to make a little iPad tool's for drawing simple geometrical objects (rect, rounded rect, ellipse, star, ...). My goal is to make something very close to Keynote (drawing feature), i.e. let the user add a rect (for instance), resizing it and moving it. I want too the user can select many objects and move them together. I've thought about at least 3 differents ways to do that : Extends UIView for each object type, a class for Rect, another for Ellipse, ... With custom drawing method. Then add this view as subview of the global view. Extends CALayer for each object type, a class for Rect, another for Ellipse, ... With custom drawing method. Then add this layer as sublayer of the global view layer's. Extends NSObject for each object type, a class for Rect, another for Ellipse, ... With just a drawing method which will get as argument a CGContext and a Rect and draw directly the form in it. Those methods will be called by the drawing method of the global view. I'm aware that the two first ways come with functions to detect touch on each object, to add easily shadows,... but I'm afraid that they are a little too heavy ? That's why I thought about the last way, which it seems to be straight forward. Which way will be the more efficient ??? Or maybe I didn't thought another way ? Any help will be appreciated ;-) Thanks.

  • Android map overly transparency has unwanted gradient

    - by DavidP2190
    I'm a making my first android app and for part of it I need some shaded areas over a mapview. I've got this working so far but the when I set the alpha of the fill colour, it goes strange. I'm not allowed to post images yet, but you can see what happens here: http://i.imgur.com/leXmc.png I'm not sure what causes it, but here is some code from where it gets drawn. public boolean draw(Canvas canvas, MapView mapView, boolean shadow, long when) { Paint paint = new Paint(); paint.setStrokeWidth(2); paint.setColor(android.graphics.Color.GREEN); paint.setStyle(Paint.Style.FILL_AND_STROKE); paint.setAlpha(25); screenPoints = new Point[10]; Path path = new Path(); for (int x = 0; x<greenZone.length; x++){ screenPoints[x] = new Point(); mapView.getProjection().toPixels(greenZone[x], screenPoints[x]); } path.moveTo(screenPoints[0].x, screenPoints[0].y); for (int x = 1; x < screenPoints.length-1; x++){ paint.setAlpha(25); if (x<9){ path.lineTo(screenPoints[x].x, screenPoints[x].y); canvas.drawPath(path, paint); } else{ path.moveTo(screenPoints[screenPoints.length-1].x, screenPoints[screenPoints.length-1].y); path.lineTo(screenPoints[0].x, screenPoints[0].y); canvas.drawPath(path, paint); } } return true; } Thanks.

  • Ajax heavy JS apps using excessive amounts of memory over time.

    - by Shane Reustle
    I seem to have some pretty large memory leaks in an app that I am working on. The app itself is not very complex. Every 15 seconds, the page requests approx 40kb of JSON from the server, and draws a table on the page using it. It is cheaper to draw the table over because the data is usually always new. I am attaching a few events to the table, approx 5 per line, 30 lines in the table. I used jQuery's .html() method to put the new html into the container and overwrite the existing. I do this specifically so that jQuery's special cleanup functions go in and attempt to detach all events on the elements in the element that it is overwriting. I then also delete the large variables of html once they are sent to the DOM using delete my_var. I have checked for circular references and attached events that are never cleared a few times, but never REALLY dug into it. I was wondering if someone could give me a few pointers on how to optimize a very heavy app like this. I just picked up "High Performance Javascript" by Nicholas Zakas, but didn't have much time to get into it yet. To give an idea on how much memory this is using, after 4~ hours, it is using about 420,000k on chrome, and much more on Firefox or IE. Thanks!

  • WPF EventRouting to Children

    - by Shaun Bowe
    Is there any way to broadcast a RoutedEvent to all of my children in WPF? For example lets say I have a Window that has 4 children. 2 of them know about the RoutedEvent 'DisplayYourself' and are listening for it. How can I raise this event from the window and have it sent to all children? I looked at RoutingStrategy and Bubble is the wrong direction, Tunnel and Direct don't work because I don't know which children I want to send this to. I just want to broadcast this message and have whoever cares about it handle it. update: I declared the events in a static class. public static class StaticEventClass { public static readonly RoutedEvent ClickEvent = EventManager.RegisterRoutedEvent("Click", RoutingStrategy.Bubble, typeof(RoutedEventHandler), typeof(StaticEventClass)); public static readonly RoutedEvent DrawEvent = EventManager.RegisterRoutedEvent("Draw", RoutingStrategy.Bubble, typeof(RoutedEventHandler), typeof(StaticEventClass)); } The problem is when I raise the event from my window, the children never see it. RoutedEventArgs args = new RoutedEventArgs(StaticEventClass.DrawEvent, this); this.RaiseEvent(args); update again.. Here is the handler in the child. public ChildClass() { this.AddHandler(StaticEventClass.DrawEvent, new RoutedEventHandler(ChildClass_Draw)); }

  • C# WinForm Drawing - how to clear and redraw

    - by StoneHeart
    Here is screen shot of my game. On the left is my problem, seem "old draw" still existing. On the right is what it should be. http://img682.imageshack.us/img682/1058/38995989.jpg drawing code Graphics g = e.Graphics; for (int i = 1; i < 27; i += 1) { for (int j = 0; j < 18; j += 1) { ZPoint zp = zpoints[i, j]; if (zp != null) { g.DrawImage(zp.sprite_index, new Point(zp.x, zp.y)); Image arrow; if (zp.sprite_index == spr_green_zpoint) { arrow = spr_green_arrows[zp.image_index]; } else if (zp.sprite_index == spr_red_zpoint) { arrow = spr_red_arrows[zp.image_index]; } else { arrow = spr_grey_arrows[zp.image_index]; } g.DrawImage(arrow, new Point(zp.x - 4, zp.y - 4)); } } } if (latest_p1 != -1 && latest_p2 != -1) { ZPoint zp = zpoints[latest_p1, latest_p2]; if (zp != null) { g.DrawImage(spr_focus, new Point(zp.x - 6, zp.y - 6)); } }

  • De-normalization alternative to specific MYSQL problem?

    - by Booker
    I am facing quite a specific optimization problem. I currently have 4 normalized tables of data. Every second, possibly thousands of users will pull down up-to-date info from these tables using AJAX. The thing is that I can predict relatively easily which subset of data they need... The most recent 100 or so entries in those 4 normalized tables. I have been researching de-normalization... but feel that perhaps there is an easier solution. I was thinking that I could somehow every second run one sql query to condense the needed info, store it in a temp cached table and then have all of the user queries just draw from this. This will allow the complex join of 4 tables to only be run once, and then from there the users just need to do a simple lookup from the cached table. I really don't know if this is feasible. Comments on this or any other suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

  • Should I define a single "DataContext" and pass references to it around or define muliple "DataConte

    - by Nate Bross
    I have a Silverlight application that consists of a MainWindow and several classes which update and draw images on the MainWindow. I'm now expanding this to keep track of everything in a database. Without going into specifics, lets say I have a structure like this: MainWindow Drawing-Surface Class1 -- Supports Drawing DataContext + DataServiceCollection<T> w/events Class2 -- Manages "transactions" (add/delete objects from drawing) Class3 Each "Class" is passed a reference to the Drawing Surface so they can interact with it independently. I'm starting to use WCF Data Services in Class1 and its working well; however, the other classes are also going to need access to the WCF Data Services. (Should I define my "DataContext" in MainWindow and pass a reference to each child class?) Class1 will need READ access to the "transactions" data, and Class2 will need READ access to some of the drawing data. So my question is, where does it make the most sense to define my DataContext? Does it make sense to: Define a "global" WCF Data Service "Context" object and pass references to that in all of my subsequent classes? Define an instance of the "Context" for each Class1, Class2, etc Have each method that requires access to data define its own instance of the "Context" and use closures handle the async load/complete events? Would a structure like this make more sense? Is there any danger in keeping an active "DataContext" open for an extended period of time? Typical usecase of this application could range from 1 minute to 40+ minutes. MainWindow Drawing-Surface DataContext Class1 -- Supports Drawing DataServiceCollection<DrawingType> w/events Class2 -- Manages "transactions" (add/delete objects from drawing) DataServiceCollection<TransactionType> w/events Class3 DataServiceCollection<T> w/events

  • Screen capture doesn't work on MFC application in Vista

    - by David Thornley
    We've got some in-house applications built in MFC, with OpenGL drawing routines. They all use the same code to draw on the screen and either print the screen or save it to a JPEG file. Everything's been working fine in Windows XP, and I need to find a way to make them work on Vista. In three of our applications, everything works. In the remaining one, I can get the window border, title bar, menus, and task bar, but the interior never shows up. As I said, these applications use the exact same code to write to the screen and capture the window image, and the only difference I see that looks like it might be relevant is that the problem application uses the MFC multiple document interface, while the ones that work use the single document interface. Either the answer isn't on the net, or I'm worse at Googling than I thought. I asked on the MSDN forums, and the only practical suggestion I got was to use GDI+ rather than GDI, and that did nothing different. I have tried different things with every part of the code that captures and prints or save, given a pointer to the window, so apparently it's a matter of the window itself. I haven't rebuilt the offending application using SDI yet, and I really don't have any other ideas. Has anybody seen anything like this?
