  • Resolution Independent Control Size

    Hi, I am developing a program for converting videos for mobiles for eg converting mkv,avi,flv,ogg file to mp4 files.I have to display a preview window which should have the mobile specific dimension for eg. Sony Ericsson has 176 pixels x 220 pixels. My screen resolution is 1600x900 and when I change to some other resolution say 1024x768 for testing the preview window size changes. Can anyone suggest me how can I fix this. SUMMARY:When screen resolution is changed my preview window size should remain same(like if I measure using a scale along the screen). thanks.

Is the use of ifstream here efficient? Can I do better? I'm reading about mmap() implementations but I'm not understanding them 100%. The input file is simply text strings with *nix line terminations.

  • How to change size of STL container in C++

    I have a piece of performance critical code written with pointers and dynamic memory. I would like to rewrite it with STL containers, but I'm a bit concerned with performance. Is there a way to increase the size of a container without initializing the data? For example, instead of doing ptr = new BYTE[x]; I want to do something like vec.insert(vec.begin(), x, 0); However this initializes every byte to 0. Isn't there a way to just make the vector grow? I know about reserve() but it just allocates memory, it doesn't change the size of the vector, and doesn't allows me to access it until I have inserted valid data. Thank you everyone.

    Hi Folks, I've got an NSMutableArray that holds a bunch of objects, what I'm trying to figure out is how much memory is the array using. After looking at a couple of places I know about the sizeof call, and when I make it I get 32 bits (which is the size of the NSMutableArray object it self).     Again, dont really know how to phrase the question so I will explain. I have a video recorder application. I open my camera with cameraRecorder = Camera.open(1); //(this is the front facing camera) And get the camera parameters and all supported preview sizes CameraParameters tmpParams = cameraRecorder.getParameters(); List<Camera.Size> tmpList = tmpParams.getSupportedPreviewSizes(); one of the preview sizes on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 running ICS (4.0.4) is 800x600 but when I try to set the Video size in my media Player mediaRecorder.setVideoSize(800,600); I get this error: 12-19 17:27:55.035: E/CameraSource(110): Video dimension (800x600) is unsupported 12-19 17:27:55.035: E/StagefrightRecorder(110): cameraSource do not init 12-19 17:27:55.035: E/StagefrightRecorder(110): setupCameraSource failed.     Let's say you've got a simple fixed-width layout that pulls a title from a MySQL database. CSS: #wrapper { width: 800px; } h1 { width: 100%; } HTML: <html> <body> <div id="wrapper"> <h1> $titleString </h1> </div> </body> </html> But the catch is, the length of the title string pulled from your MySQL database varies wildly. Sometimes it might be 10 characters, sometimes it might be 80. It's possible to establish a min & max character count. How, if at all possible, do I get the text-size of my <h1>$titleString</h1> to enlarge/decrease on-the-fly such that the string is only ever on one line and best fit to that line length? I've seen a lot of questions about resizing the div - but in my case the div must always be 100% (800px) and I want to best-fit the title. Obviously a maximum text-size value would have to be set so 5 character strings don't become gargantuan. Does anyone have a suggestion? I'm only using PHP/MySQL/CSS on this page at the moment, but incorporation of another language is fine if it means I can solve the problem. The only thing I can think of is a bruteforce approach whereby through trial and error I establish acceptable string character count ranges matched with CSS em sizes, but that'd be a pretty ugly implementation from the code side.

    Hi, I'm working in an excel application and providing a menu to the user to add a new worksheet in that excel application (Excel Workbook). The worksheet will be added once the user clicks the "OK" button and I'm using a template to add this worksheet (The template has lot of formatting and formulas in it) Lets say the file size is 10 MB after adding a worksheet if the workbook is saved. Then I close the Excel application and reopen it and save the file then the file size is getting reduced to 8 MB. Can anybody let me know what could be the reason for the same? Thanks, Ram

  • Can VBScript determine the most recently modified (or added) file in a particular folder?

    Hello, I have a script (or more accurately WILL have a script) that checks a folder and copies a file from this folder to a different location (will run once per day). The fileName that I'd like to copy from, however, changes based on the date. Basically, instead of setting the "strFilePath" to "C:\somePath\somePath2\myFile.txt" I would like to simply take the most recently modified (or added - does this make a difference in terms of the script??) in the "somePath2" folder and copy it to the destination. Bonus (but not completely necessary) would be to check in the script if the file was modified/added in the last 24 hours and only copy it over in that case. Thanks for your help!

    I'm making a data prosessing system, which currently is using csv-data as input and output form. In the future I might want to add support for example database-, xml-, etc. typed input and output forms. How should I desing my program so that it would be easy to add support for new type of data sources? Should simply make for example an abstract data class (which would contain the basic file prosessing methods) and then inherit this class for database, xml, etc. cases? Hope my question is clear =) In other words my question is: "How to desing a file prosessing system, which can be easily updated to accept input data from different sources (database, XML, Excel, etc.)".

  • Image Size for Animation!

    Hi Everybody, I m new to iphone app development and i need some help. I have a list of 30 images that i have to animate and display with 0.1 second interval. I put all the images in an Array using this imageletter.animationImages = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:[UIImage imageNamed:@"1.png"], ...... ,nil] And then animate it using these statements, [imageletter setAnimationDuration:16]; [imageletter startAnimating]; [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:mytime target:self selector:@selector(StopAfterCertainTime) userInfo:nil repeats:NO]; Now the problem is that the size of each image is 8kb , it runs fine on iphone simulator but crashes on device. When i used 30 other images of 4kb each it runs fine both on simulator and device. Can anybody tell me what is the ideal size for such kind of task. Thanks

    I am trying to make an asynchronised server in visual studio and I use boost::asio::async_read(m_socket, boost::asio::buffer(m_buffer), boost::bind(&tcp_connection::handle_read, shared_from_this(), boost::asio::placeholders::error)); to get the buffer to be put in m_buffer boost::array<char, 256> m_buffer; but how do I get the size of this thing, m_buffer? size() didn't work, end() didn't work..   • Using modified date of file for comparison. Is it safe?

    I want to make a procedure that does one way syncrhonization of a folder between a server and a client. I was thinking to use ModifiedDate as a criterio, provided that only the date of the server files will be used. Procedure will not use Modified dates of files on the client at all. It will read dates from the server and compare them with dates read from the server last time the procedure run. Do you think this is safe? Is there any possibility that Modified Date will not be changed when a file is edited or it will be changed without touching the contents of the file (eg. from some strange antivirus programs)?

  • Iphone UI Size / Layout Resource?

    Is anyone aware of a website or download to reference for the size of UI elements or standard iphone interface stuff? What I mean is something that gives the height of elements like the status bar, tab bar, navigation bar, default tableviewcell height (and such things as width of accessory view, indentation, etc), default icon sizes, default font sizes for UI elements (if they need to be mimicked, for instance), etc etc etc. It's amazing how many times I have to go back to find a reference or estimate the size and position of a standard element. It seems like it would be an invaluable resource that could fit on a printed page or two.

  • auto resize text (font size) when resizing window?

    Hi, I have been trying(in vain) to build a page whose elements would resize as I changed the window size. I have it working in css for images no problem, but I can't seem to accomplish the same for text, and I am not sure it is even possible in CSS. And I can't seem to find a jquery script that accomplishes this. When a user resizes the window, I essentially want the page to scale dynamically and fluidly, without the user having to invoke page zoom. This works fine on my img divs via css, but not for the text, which stays the same size. any ideas? Thanks!

How can I check if the file exists before trying to include it so that an error is not thrown? I'd like to avoid using inline Java. Something using one of the JSTL tags is the preferred approach.

My current situation: I have am image, lets called it "bg.png" with the width about 2500px, and at the center of the background image has my logo. My website should target all size (from small 800 x 600 to 2400 x XXX) users. My problems How do I centralize the background image(bg.png), so that the logo always positioned in the centered(horizontally) of different size of monitors screen?

  • Programmatically find maximum static array size in C++

    I am curious whether it is possible to determine the maximum size that an array can have in C++. #include <iostream> using namespace std; #define MAX 2000000 int main() { long array[MAX]; cout << "Message" << endl; return 0; } This compiles just fine, but then segfaults as soon as I run it (even though array isn't actually referenced). I know it's the array size too because if I change it to 1000000 it runs just fine. So, is there some define somewhere or some way of having #define MAX MAX_ALLOWED_ARRAY_SIZE_FOR_MY_MACHINE_DEFINED_SOMEWHERE_FOR_ME? I don't actually need this for anything, this question is for curiosity's sake.
