• Android: How to make launcher always open the main activity instead of child activity? (or otherwise

  I have activities A and B. The A is the one with LAUNCHER intent-filter (i.e. the activity that is started when we click the app icon on home screen). A launches B using startActivity(new Intent(A.this, B.class)). When the user has the B activity open, and then put my application into the background, and later my application's process is killed, when the user starts my application again, B is opened instead of A. This caused a force close in my app, because A is the activity that initializes the resources my app needs, and when B tried to access the uninitialized resources, B crashes. Do you have any suggestions what should I do in this situation?

I want to ?reduce? the CPU usage/ROM usage/RAM usage - in general ?speaking?, all system resources that my App use - how doesn't? :) For this reason i want to split the preferences window from the rest of the application, and let the preferences window to run as ?independent? program. The preferences program ?should? write to a Property file(not a problem at all) and to send a "update signal" to the main program - which mean, to call the update method(that i wrote) that found in the Main class. How can i call the update method in the Main program from the preferences program? Or in the other hand... There is a way to build preferences window that take system resources just when it's appear? Is this approach - of separating programs and let them talk to each other(somehow) - is a right approach for speeding up my programs? tnx

  I am having trouble getting JBoss started. I am running JBoss 5.1.0 on Mac OSX (yes, I know it is an old version, but that’s what the application is certified on for now). I am using Apple’s JVM 1.6.0_37.   I've messed with Access a little bit in the past, had one class on OO theory, and one class on console c++ apps. Now, as a hobby project, I'm undertaking to write an actual app, which will be a database app using System.Data.SQLite and C#. I have the db's table structure planned. I have System.Data.SQLite installed and connected to VS Pro. I entered my tables and columns in VS, but that's where I'm stuck. I really don't know how to finish the db set up so I can start creating queries and testing the db structure. Can someone give me guidance to online resources that will help me learn how to get the db properly set up so I can proceed with testing it? I'm hoping for online resources specific to beginners using C# and System.Data.SQLite, but I'll use the closest I can get. Thanks.

• Java applet icon doesn't show

  I have a java applet where I've changed the image icon that appears in the top left corner of the window. The code I use is this: Toolkit kit = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit(); Image frameIcon = kit.getImage("src/myapp/resources/logo.png"); getFrame().setIconImage(frameIcon); Everything works fine until I deploy the applet to a standalone jar. In this case the icon that shows is the default icon, as if the code couldn't find the image. But the image is inside, although it is in the folder: myapp/resources/ What am I doing wrong here? Is this some weird java bug?

  hi, I would like to create an addin for microsoft outlook, and am using the visual studio tools to do so. However I am really struggling to get my head around the use of interfaces within the VSTO environment - the resources on MSDN show many useful looking interfaces, but I am unsure how to use these interfaces to access data. For example I am trying to add a new folder into an IMAP account but am finding it very difficult to work out how to get outlook to do so.   I have a binary that's used as a command-line tool to manipulate some files - tool.exe. I would like to include this in my Visual Studio 2008 project and use it from my C# code. I have it in a folder called "Resources" which also has some other files my project uses. I would like to do something like Process myproc = Process.Start("Resources/tool.exe"); but I believe C# has an issue with this because it's looking in the file system rather than the project. • Maven archetype from project - how to preserve package names ?

  Hey, I'm trying to grab my project and generate an Archetype from it via : archetype:create-from-project The thing is, that my project has src/main/java package structure com.sample.app, but the archetype must have it as I want (org.example.game) ... Ideally as user want when generating the project from archetype, but that is impossible I suppose. It would have to grab groupId and artifactId and generate archetype-resources/src/main/java based on this input. Anyway, that's why there is this argument I suppose : packageName mvn archetype:create-from-project -DpackageName=org.example.game But it doesn't work and there is still archetype-resources/src/main/java/org/sample/game ..

I have several small tools that we use in our day to day operations that I want to manage their tasks in one ruby script. Basically what I'm trying to do is: run app via ruby script. (wait for result) get result code (success, or error msg) if ok, start the app on its next task. • How to Embed/Link binary data into a C++ DLL

  So I have a Visual Studio 2008 project which has a large amount of binary data that it is currently referencing. I would like to package the binary data much like you can do with C# by adding it as a "resource" and compiling it as a DLL. Lets say all my data has an extension of ".data" and is currently being read from the visual studio project. Is there a way that you can compile or link the data into the .dll which it is calling? I've looked at some of the google link for this and so far I haven't come up with anything - the only possible solution I've come up with is to use something like ResGen to create a .resources file and then link it using AssemblyLinker with /Embed or /Link flags. I dont think it'd work properly though because I dont have text files to create the .resources files, but rather binary files themselves. Any advice?

• My USB bootable thumb drive, no longer boots on a single particular computer on which it previously worked

  I created a bootable drive, booting CrunchBang, about 2 months ago. About a month ago, I booted into it on another laptop. After shutting down, I have been unable to get it to boot on my own laptop, despite having worked previously. I can still boot into it on my desktop, and can also boot into it on all other computers that I have tried. If I plug it in when I am running Ubuntu, the Home and / folders mount, the only error being that for some reason my PC likes to try and mount the swap partition too, which naturally, gives an error. The BIOS settings are all still setup to boot from USB. When I boot, all I get is a black screen with the white cursor, it will stay there for as long as I leave it. If it is worth anything, I have GRUB loader installed on the drive. The partitions look a little odd, but I am rather unfamiliar with how they are dealt with. The first partition, /, is sdb1 and has the bootable flag. The second partition is an extended system, and is sdb2. The third partition, according to GParted, seems to be nested under the second. This is the swap partition, and it is sdb5 The fourth partition is my home partition and is sdb6 and is also nested under the extended system. The first and fourth partitions are ext4. I don't know if that helps, but the more info, the better accuracy, generally. Thanks. EDIT: I tried reinstalling GRUB on the drive, but that didn't work. However, when I reinstalled GRUB on my laptop, I did it with my USB thumbdrive in. This caused the GRUB updater to find the /boot folder and add the proper details into my laptop's GRUB loader. I could log into CrunchBang from my laptop's GRUB but I was still unable to boot directly to the drive. It looked like my BIOS is unable to find the bootloader. I am unable to install GRUB to a partition I just created, a /boot partition at the start of the drive, GRUB just doesn't allow it. I think I'm going to have to reinstall #! on my drive, which won't be a great loss as I haven't put much time into it.

  Since you apparently can't create a Silverlight DataTemplate in C#, I'm trying to create one in XAML. I have a converter that I need to refer to, that I have defined in C# in another namespace. I've tried doing this: <UserControl.Resources> <DataTemplate x:Key="PriceTemplate"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Price, Converter={Converters:PriceConverter}}" /> </DataTemplate> </UserControl.Resources> Where Converters is an xmlns that points to the correct namespace. However, I get a compilation error that says: Type 'Converters:PriceConverter' is used like a markup extension but does not derive from MarkupExtension. I tried adding System.Windows.Markup.MarkupExtension as a parent to my converter, but it apparently doesn't exist in Silverlight. How can I refer to my converter in XAML, without having to rewrite it in XAML?

  I have class Person as following : class Person { char* name; int age; }; Now I need to add two contructors. One taking no arguments, that inserts field values to dynamically allocated resources. Second taking (char*, int) arguments initialized by initialization list. Last part is to define a destructor showing information about destroying objects and deallocating dynamically allocated resources. How to perform this task ? That's what I already have : class Person { char* name; int age; public: Person(){ this->name = new *char; this->age = new int; } Person(char* c, int i){ } };

• Porting VS2005 project to VS2008

  i need to port a VS2005 Project (.NET2) to a VS2008 (.NET3.5) (or to VS2010 .NET4 not yet defined). The project is composed by: resources and configuration files (VS project files, like: .settings .vbproj .myapp .config .xconfig .Designer.vb); a lot of VB codes; xsc, xsd, xss and xsx files; a lot of Crystal reports for VS2005; graphical resources. The application take data in order to generate reports from more DB SQL Server 2005 istances. What is the best way to approach to a migration activity? Is there an internal migration tool? If yes, what's the best practice to use it? Which kind of files will be automatically ported to the new VS version? Thanks in advance for all the provided information
