Intel VTune Performance Analyser 9.1 not working on Win 7 64

Got the 32bit and 64 bit versions of the Intel VTune Performance Analyser. I installed the 64bit version (I think the installed was the "EMT" one) and when I go to create a new project, upon clicking the button to select an executable to profile, no file dialog popup shows. I got an old laptop and installed the 32bit on to Windows XP and it works fine. Regarding the 64 bit version, I did try changing the compatability to XP SP3 but it still didnt work. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Active Directory Replication across Sites slow or not working

I've just inherited (isn't it always the way!) a Windows Domain. The domain is spread across 2 sites. Site01 has 3 DCs & Site02 has 2 DCs. If I create a user in either site, the other DCs in that site, immediately replicate and show the new user. The new user is not shown in the other site though. If I manually run the following command, everything syncs and the new user appears: repadmin /syncall issdc01 /APed In the Inter-Site Transports DEFAULTIPSITELINK the replicate every time value is set to 180 minutes. I thought this was the solution, but on another Windows Domain, this is the same, but replication takes place across sites immediately. What can I check to resolve this issue? Apache htaccess with mod_expires Not Working for certain directories

I have a Joomla site that I am trying to enable caching using mod_expires. I have the .htaccess in the root of the site and have added the options as found on the page http://www.pactsoftware.nl/tools/joomla-optimization.html Using the PageSpeed extension in Chrome, prior to adding this in my .htaccess, my site scores a 55 (Caching is at the top, and lists a lot of images, CSS, and JS files). After these directives, it scores 70, with caching in the yellow, but still lists some image files (some are two directories deep and the rest are four). I checked for any other .htaccess files in the Joomla root, but none are between those folders and the root. It is almost as if htaccess only works in that one directory, not the subfolders. I have tried putting a .htaccess in each affected subdirectory, but it does not work. Does anyone have any ideas?

DNS lookup working but nothing pinging

I have three forward lookup zones in my DNS server. When I try pinging a server that's part of lookup zone A from a computer that's part of that same zone, I get a response. If I try pinging a server that's not in the same zone as the computer I'm pinging from, I get nothing. When I try an nslookup of the servers that are not part of the same lookup zone, the names resolve correctly. If I append the domain onto the name, I can ping it just fine. Is there a way I can fix this? or do I need to keep appending the domain onto the name if the computer I'm trying to ping is not of the same domain as me?

Powershell if statement not working - help!

I have a batch file that takes a computer name as its argument and will install Java JRE on it remotely. Now, Im trying to run this Powershell script to repeatedly call the batch file and install Java on any system that it finds without the latest version. It seems to run error-free, but the statements inside the if code block never seem to run - even when the if conditional test evaluates to true. Can anyone look at this script and point out what I'm possibly missing? I'm using the Quest AD cmdlets, and BSOnPosh module. I can successfully access one of our local samba shares, which is on a windows pc (called marina) as follows: $ sudo /usr/bin/smbclient \\\\marina\\resource_library <my password> Domain=[MARINA] OS=[Windows 5.1] Server=[Windows 2000 LAN Manager] smb: \> So, that works. I'm now trying to mount the above location (the resource_library folder on marina) to /mnt/resource_library (as a read only folder), but it keeps failing - i've tried a few variations of specifying the location: $ sudo smbmount \\\\marina\\resource_library /mnt/resource_library -o username=max,password=<my password>,r mount error: could not resolve address for marina: No address associated with hostname No ip address specified and hostname not found and $ sudo smbmount //marina/resource_library /mnt/resource_library -o username=max,password=<my password>,r mount error: could not resolve address for marina: No address associated with hostname No ip address specified and hostname not found and both of the above with MARINA instead of marina. Port forwarding not working?

I'm trying to set up an Apache Server to be accessed publicly. I'm using a Netgear R4500 router hooked up to a Motorola SB6121 modem. I can access my server on my computer by typing in my IP address. After following the instructions to forward port 80 so I can access the server from other computers, it does not work (see image). I get "This webpage is not available". I am forwarding to the IP address of my computer. Using this Network Port Scanner Tool, it says "80/tcp filtered http", which, as I understand it, means forwarding did not work correctly. In my Apache httpd file, I have: ServerName 192.168.1.13:80 and Listen 192.168.1.13:80 Anyone know what's wrong or have something I can try? click to enlarge

Windows 7 System File Checker (sfc) not working

I have a strange problem with Windows 7 RTM. I'm running Ultimate 64-bit edition. Whenever I run sfc /scannow I get this error: Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service. My research so far has told me that I need to set the Windows Module Installer and Windows Installer services' startup types to Manual. They already were, so I manually started those services and tried again. No luck. I've even booted into my Windows 7 repair disc and tried running sfc /scannow from that. All I get is this: A repair operation is already pending. Restart and try again. History: I'm trying to run sfc because I am unable to open any images in Windows Photo Viewer. Whenever I try, I get the error "Class not registered." I believe the problem started after I installed Gladinet, but I can't be sure. I've uninstalled Gladinet, but the problem remains. System Restore was disabled (yes, I know I'm stupid - you don't have to remind me). Please help. Thanks.

Xen Bridge only working when IP Assigned

Hey! Just had an (in my sense) obscure situation. I have a Xen Server with bridged networking. Everything works fine since month. A while ago i configuresd a second bridge. only some DomUs get an channel on this bridge - my Dom0 doesn't need to / should'nt use this bridge. So just 5 minutes ago while rebooting the xen host (because of an other problem with the UPS) i decided to removed the fixed ip from the the interface of the Dom0 which belongs to the second bridge. So after reboot i noticed that none of the interfaces on the second bridge is available. I couldn't find a problem. Everything was just like before the reboot, except the interface of the Dom0 had no IP address. After a while i tried to give the DomO interface of this bridge an IP again and ... BOOM ... everything is up and running again! WTF? Why is it important to have the interface of a bridge configured in the Dom0? Even when confiugured 'wrong' (complitely different netowkr settings as the network really hanging on the bridge) everythjing works fine ... I don't get it. Could please someone explain? If I firebug or look at generated content, I do not see the refresh tag changed in any way so I am really curious what kind of plugin/addon could block me which is why I googled (in vain) for a known bug... In about:config I have accessibility.blockautorefresh; false so that is not it. I ran in safe mode and OH MY GOD, STACKEXCHANGE IS FULL OF ADS but no redirect

Port forwarding not working properly

I'm trying to host a small web server from my home network; however, I have not been able to successfully port forward ports to the local server. My current network topology looks like this: Cable Modem/Router - Secondary Wireless Router - Many computers (including server) The modem/router I'm using is a Cisco (Scientific Atlantic) DPC2100, provided by my ISP. The wireless router that I'm using as the central hub to my home network is a Linksys E3000. The computer being used as a server is running Ubuntu 10.04 Server Edition. The main issue is that I can't access the server remotely, using my WAN IP address. I have port forwarded my wireless router; however, I believe that I need to somehow set my modem to bridge mode. As far as I can tell though, this isn't possible. Here are the various IP address settings: DPC2100 WAN: 69.xxx.xxx.xxx Internal IP: 192.168.100.1 Internal Network: 192.168.7.0 E3000 IP Address: 192.168.7.2 Gateway: 192.168.7.1 Internal IP: 192.168.1.1 Internal Network: 192.168.1.0 Server IP Address: 192.168.1.123 Gateway: 192.168.1.1 Now I can do an nmap at various nodes, and here are the results (from the server): nmap localhost: 22,25,53,80,110,139,143,445,631,993,995,3306,5432,8080 open nmap 192.168.7.2: 22,25,80 (filtered),110,139,445 open (ports I have forwarded in the E3000)* nmap 69.xxx.xxx.xxx: 1720 open *For some reason, I can SSH into the server at 192.168.7.2, but not view the website. So it skips the very next row and loads the rows only after the very first, so only 9. I tried to write here only the important part of the code, so i skipped some echo part etc. Any idea?

Brightness Controls not working on HP Dm3t

i have an HP dm3t notebook which normally comes with windows 7. after some time i figured out how to install Windows XP on it. but now i am facing a problem that the brightess controls dont work so i am unable to change the brightess. the strange thing is that all the other buttons (sound volume, mute, sleep , etc... ) works but not the 2 brightess controls. i already downloaded the "HP Quick Launch Buttons" so i am asking about suggesitions how can i enable these two buttons in windows XP or even if i can change the brightess using some kind of software. thanks

JBoss https on port other than 8080 not working

We have a server with two JBoss instances where one runs on 8080, the other on 8081. We need to have HTTPS enabled for the 8081 server, firstly we tried enabling https on the 8080 port instance by generating the keystore and editing the server.xml and it successfully worked. However when we tried the same thing for 8081 it did not, note that we removed https for the 8080 server first before enabling it for 8081. This is what was used for both server.xml for 8080 and 8081. The only difference was that the port was changed from 8080 to 8081 when trying to enable https for 8081 port instance. What am I doing wrong and what needs to be changed? NOTE : When I meant enabled for 8080 I meant when you visit https:// URL:8484 you will actually be visiting the 8080 port instance. However when ssl is enabled for 8081 and I visit https:// URL:8484 I get that the web page is unavailable. BIOS not detecting working SATA hard drive

Some time ago my power supply died. It's a long story from then till now, but the important bit is that I ended up with a new hard drive and a new power supply. I tested to see if my original hard drive was still alive, and it booted and worked perfectly until I turned it off. When I started it again it would not boot. I bought new SATA cables, assuming that the one I had was not seating properly (it was cheap and wobbly), but no dice. Upon start-up I am presented with a message telling me to insert boot media into the selected drive or add a drive and restart. Neither the new or the old drive is detected by BIOS, my Vista install disk, or from my bootable Linux USB drive. When I remove all of the RAM the computer ceases outputting visual information, and upon reinstalling the ram and starting up again gives me a "failed overclock" error. So, does anyone have an idea as to what might be going on? I'm completely lost at this point.

Upon receiving any message the rule reports an error but gives no explanation of what the error is. .htaccess enabled, but not working.

I been having some very frustrating issues with getting .htaccess to work on my new server. I'm not very experienced in managing a server, but I've spent the last three days pouring over documentation and every resource I can get my hands on. I've attempted to try a very basic application of .htaccess, and yet it fails to give the expected results. I've setup a test over at http://173.201.185.217/test/. Immediately within this directory is an .htaccess file with the following command: deny from all If I'm not mistaken, this should deny access to /test, but it doesn't. It just sits there allowing anybody to view the contents. What could be wrong with my server/configuration? The server is running CentOS.

Windows7 - Mouse not working, all windows + tray act like inactive

I have this problem for two days now. First when it happened, logging out and back in helped, but now this occurs right after booting. I cannot activate any window by clicking into it, and also cannot minimalise, or close it with mouse. In few applications I cannot even interact with them with mouse (e.g. clicking on links in browser). I can scroll an active window with the trackball, and sometimes everything works normally for a little while. Everything works fine, when I use keyboard for this, I can resize, move, close windows with keyboard shortcuts, etc. I ran a complete Avast! scan, but it found nothing important. Also event viewer did not show any relevant errors. Here's a log from HijackThis if it helps anything.
