    Trying to run my program in FreeBSD OS, I have the following results: $ ./myprogram ELF binary type "0" not known ./myprogram: 1: Syntax error: "&" unexpected (expecting ")") $ file myprogram myprogram: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.15, not stripped The program is built In GCC on Ubuntu computer. What can I do? Can I build the program for FreeBSD on my Ubuntu computer by changing some build options, or I need to build it in FreeBSD OS? Maybe there is some way to convert executable to format recognized by FreeBSD?

    Since Grails 1.2 there's a documentation engine included: gdoc. The documentation's syntax is based on the Textile format. Is there some editor support for this? My first choice would be a plugin for IntelliJ, second option on for vim or gedit. Any hints welcome. I am totally a aware that the format is very simple by itself but having code coloring and content assist would be really nice.

    First and foremost: I know it's not right or even good thing to do but my current customer will not cave in. So here's what he is asking for (this is for in-house-behind-a-firewall-etc project). In the web report I need to supply a link which points to the executable script that lives on the universally mapped location (network file server). When user clicks on it it is expected to run on the local client starting local executable which should be pre-installed on the client's box. It should be agnostic to OS (Windows or Linux) and the browser used. Customer doesn't mind to click on angry pop-up alerts but he wants to do it once per client browser (or at minimum - session). QUESTION: Will trusted Java applet be able to do it? Or is the any other (better, simpler) ways of achieving the same? ActiveX control is out of question

Looking at http://json.org/, the spec says that a string can include "any UNICODE character", but this confuses me. JSON is a communication format correct? At the core of it, everything must translate down to bytes. In contrast, UNICODE is a logical format and must be encoded to be able to transmit it, right? So what did they mean there?

We just cranked up the warning flags on gcc and found quite a few instances of these warnings and I'm curious what type of problems this may have caused prior to fixing them? Also, why is this a warning and not an error. How is gcc even able to successfully link this executable? As you can see in the example below, the executable functions as expected.   • Accidentally created a virus?

    I've seen it happen reasonabley often: I write an application in Delphi and when I compile it, the virus-scanner tells me that I've created a virus and thus immediately deletes the executable again. It's annoying but reasonable easy to fix by doing a full rebuild, deleting the *.dcu files first and sometimes by simply waiting. It happens with Delphi 6, 7, 2005 and 2007, as far as I know. And Symantec, Kaspersky, McAfee and NOD32 have all been guilty of reporting these false positives. I know it's because Delphi adds timestamps to its DCU files and these timestamps end up in the final executable and apparently appear to be part of some random virus signature. I don't want to disable the virus-scanner, not even for a single folder or file. And I'm not really for a solution, but am wondering about the following: Do these false positives also occur with other compilers? Does it also happen with .NET executables? Do others also notice similar problems with Delphi?
