  A while ago Spotify (the streaming music service) came out with a preview for Linux of their client. I had succesfully run it throughout 10.04. Now I'm on 10.10, I can't seem to find it in the package manager, let alone install it. Software Sources gives me this; Failed to fetch http://repository.spotify.com/dists/stable/Release Unable to find expected entry non-free/source/Sources in Meta-index file (malformed Release file?) Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead. So...as I'm paying for Spotify what...umm...do I do? :P

  I'm preparing for Mysql certification, nowadays officially titled: Oracle Certified Professional, MySQL 5.0 Developer certification After looking through Mysql forum it looks like most people recommended this book: http://www.amazon.com/MySQL-5-0-Certification-Study-Guide/dp/0672328127/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1299972594&sr=8-1 Which as far as I learned - was the official preparation source at the time when Mysql was controlled by Mysql AB and Sun. Now, however - Oracle officially doesn't recommend this book. to be precise - I don't now what they recommend. I could only find this "value package":( http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=532 Can someone who got mysql certification confirm that this book is what they have used?   This is a short personal post to let any regular readers know what I’m up to (and why I’ll be in reduced blogging mode for a bit). • XAF DSL Tool Needs a new Team Lead

  I have enjoyed my time on this project and have used it in several production projects.  However, with the enhancements in Visual Studio 2010 and the Entity Framework, the DSL tool doesn’t make sense for me to support at this time.  With that said, I am looking for someone who has interest to continue the project if they so desire.  I have moved my attention to creating a new project at Entity Framework Extensions for XAF.  We are converting the current DSL tool into the Entity Framework extensions.  The same code generation and everything else work.  However, the visual design surface is so much easier to work with.  If you have any questions, please let me know.  Also, please take a moment to look at the new project.  This is where all my effort going forward will be focused. • 2D Physics Engine to Handle Shapes Composed of Multiple Densities XNA

  The game I'm working on involves shapes that might be composed of multiple materials in a variety of ways. Let's just take for example a wooden rod with and sizable tip of iron or say a block composed of a couple triangles of stone and aluminum and small nugget of gold.   I am a research chemist by day and I am a self-taught hobbyist iOS programmer by night. I am in the process of developing a moderately complex iOS app and hope to launch it within a month or two. I love everything about iOS development (and programming in general). I want to know if iOS development could become a backup career for me if I loose my job.   I'm a java web developer for nearly 3 years. Always trying to learn more and be better but still I feel that the amount of knowledge is not that good as I want. The knowledge in some places still seems to be non-systematic and don't provide a very strong base to solve the problems as good as I want to do it. The example I have is my senior developer, whose solutions are always more efficient and beautiful. So, the question is rather simple and hard the same time.   I'm on the way developing a Java application where user can provide a class diagram and get the corresponding Java code. I don't know how can I let the user interactively draw a class diagram in Java. I am currently getting the required parameters like attributes, functions directly from the user, and then I render a class diagram for him. I show the class diagram on a jdialog. Is there a better way to do this? This is an example of a class diagram, I need to generate this from a Java program, given the values and relationship.

• Obtaining Embedded Linux Experience

  As an embedded firmware developer, I have used operating systems such as WinCE, Nucleus, ThreadX, VRTX and some background loops. There are more opportunities for me if I had Linux OS experience, or perhaps some certification. In my research, the only way to get Linux experience is to have your company move to a Linux OS. All the recruiters and HR folks won't let you in the door unless you have Linux experience. I haven't found any Universities that teach Linux. Recruiters and HR want some tangible proof (starting up your own Ubuntu box or playing with it doesn't count). So, how does one get into the area of Embedded Linux without Linux experience (I have Unix and Cygwin experience, but not Linux)?

• Is osTicket secure/private enough

  I was going to use osTicket as my 'help desk' for my website, however I just got a little bit concerned when I realised that the clients' login details to see their support tickets are only their email address and a ticket ID. I am probably going over the top with security though, which is why I wanted to get some second opinions on how secure osTicket actually is and whether I should use it with my website. I run a software company, so chances are licence keys may be included in support tickets which are obviously sensitive information and valuable - so I want to ensure that the likelihood of a support ticket being hacked is very low. If there is any plugins/additions to make osTicket more 'secure', I would appreciate it if you could point me to them. Otherwise if there are any more free, more suited, help desk softwares out there please let me know. Thanks in advance
