• Can the Sequence of RecordSets in a Multiple RecordSet ADO.Net resultset be determined, controlled?

  I am using code similar to this Support / KB article to return multiple recordsets to my C# program. But I don't want C# code to be dependant on the physical sequence of the recordsets returned, in order to do it's job. So my question is, "Is there a way to determine which set of records from a multiplerecordset resultset am I currently processing?" I know I could probably decipher this indirectly by looking for a unique column name or something per resultset, but I think/hope there is a better way. P.S. I am using Visual Studio 2008 Pro & SQL Server 2008 Express Edition.

• How to count toggled buttons in jqueryui after a click event.

  I need to count how many buttons are toggled using the jqueryui checkbox button option - .buttonset(). This needs to happen when a button is toggled. I added a unique class to the labels before applying the button set and have set a click event on it. It fires fine, however it is firing before the jqueryui has processed the click so the result is out of date. • Oracle curcular join sometimes give duplicates, but sometimes does not

  By mistake I wrote a query like this: select * from a,b,c where a.col=b.col and b.col2=c.col2 and c.col3=a.col4 So there is a circular join here. Now the thing is sometimes this query returns duplicate result, sometimes it returns unique(correct) results. I am trying to understand why it does not give duplicate results always. Also if circular joins are not allowed, how come Oracle does not throw an error. EDIT: This is the actual query. After reading ti carefully, I am not sure anymore if this is a circular join or not.It does not seem so...but why I get duplicates only sometime? select * from a,b,c,d where a.col=b.col and b.col=c.col and c.col2=d.col2 and d.col2 =a.col2

  So I'm comfortable with the basic concept of CQS, where you might have a command that writes to one database, and that updates the query database that you read from. However, consider the scenario where you are entering data, and want to prevent duplicates. Using new employee data entry an employee register as an example, working through a pile of application forms to key in the new employees' details: Take top sheet. Key in employee name and unique payroll number to UI. Submit. Put paper in "completed pile". Repeat. How would you now prevent the user from keying in the same payroll number again, say for instance if they get distracted and can't remember whether they've keyed one in already and the "message" hasn't got all the way back to the query db for the user to search?

  This next part of code does exactly what I want it to do. dem_rows and dem_cols contain float values for a number of things i can identify in an image, but i need to get the nearest pixel for each of them, and than to make sure I only get the unique points, and no duplicates.   In a xhtml, i want to highlight the text between two self closing tags s1 and s2 whose attribute value is the same. Eg. <s1 ind="1"/> and <s2 ind="1" /> Eg. <html> <body> <a> <b>Some <s1 ind="1"/> text</b> <c>data <s2 ind="1"/>here</c> </a> </body> </html> I want "text data" to get highlighted. Is is possible to achieve using javascript/jquery? I could have many such self closing tag pairs s1 and s2 with a unique value for "ind" for the pair indicating that the text within them needs to be highlighted.

  Dear experts, I would like to implement a API of Javascript that sort of resemble a light switch. For instance, there are two buttons on the actual HTML page act as the UI. Both of the buttons have event handlers that invokes a different function. Each function have codes that act like a state, for instance. button1.onclick=function (){ $("div").click( //code effects 2 ) } button2.onclick=function (){ $("div").click( //Code effects 2 ) } I the code works fine on the surface but the 2 state functions overlap. the effects is going to take place for the rest of the way until the next reload of the document. Basically what I want to achieve is that when 1 button is clicked, it will switch "OFF" the state of function invoked by the other button and vice versa. Thus, the effects achieved are unique are not overlapped. Is there anyway to achieve this or could any experts point me to the right direction. Thanks in advance.

  Is it possible to specify the application icon for a windows mobile app from a resource file or other configuration besides the .csproj? The reason I would like to do this is because I have an application that can be configured to run in several different ways. We would like to build out three unique .cabs based on these configurations, and we would like to use a different icon for each version. One option we've considered is just running multiple builds and swapping out the icon file each time, but we were hoping there would be a way to do this using a "resource" DLL or something along those lines, that could be compiled or linked in to the main .exe.

• What's the best way to implement one-dimensional collision detection?

  I'm writing a piece of simulation software, and need an efficient way to test for collisions along a line. The simulation is of a train crossing several switches on a track. When a wheel comes within N inches of the switch, the switch turns on, then turns off when the wheel leaves. Since all wheels are the same size, and all switches are the same size, I can represent them as a single coordinate X along the track. Switch distances and wheel distances don't change in relation to each other, once set. This is a fairly trivial problem when done through brute force by placing the X coordinates in lists, and traversing them, but I need a way to do so efficiently, because it needs to be extremely accurate, even when the train is moving at high speeds. There's a ton of tutorials on 2D collision detection, but I'm not sure the best way to go about this unique 1D scenario.

  I'm trying to modify a stored procedure hooked into an ORM tool. I want to add a few more rows based on a loop of some distinct values in a column. Here's the current SP: SELECT GRP = STAT_CD, CODE = REASN_CD FROM dbo.STATUS_TABLE WITH (NOLOCK) Order by STAT_CD, SRT_ORDR For each distinct STAT_CD, I'd also like to insert a REASN_CD of "--" here in the SP. However I'd like to do it before the order by so I can give them negative sort orders so they come in at the top of the list. I'm getting tripped up on how to implement this. Does anyone know how to do this for each unique STAT_CD?

• Using css "active tab" technique on single page

  I'm building a navigation system using jquery scrollto. I have my navigation menu in a separate file (( navigation.php )). It is included in 5 locations on the first page (( 5 different sections w/ text following each )). I'm trying to figure out a way to have the current "tab" highlight'd. I could hard code the navigation in each location to ensure it shows up the correct way, but I'd rather use the phpinclude() method. The other issue is that each "tab" has it's own unique color (( cmykd )). Here is the alpha version of what I'm doing (( when you click && the page slides, the "active tab" still stays grey -- I'd like it to be the corresponding color )). In a CKEditor dialog, text input fields are renamed with a unique number - e.g. id: 'txtUrl' will become something like id='27_textinput'. How do I reference this? // I feel it should be something like: var myfield = CKEDITOR.instances.myElement.document.$.body.getId('txtUrl'); // or maybe: var myfield = CKEDITOR.dialog.getContentElement('info','txtUrl'); // and then: myfield.value = 'myvalue'; But these don't work.   I am trying to use textwrap to format an import file that is quite particular in how it is formatted. Basically, it is as follows (line length shortened for simplicity): abcdef <- Ok line abcdef ghijk <- Note leading space to indicate wrapped line lm Now, I have got code to work as follows: wrapper = TextWrapper(width=80, subsequent_indent=' ', break_long_words=True, break_on_hyphens=False) for l in lines: wrapline=wrapper.wrap(l) This works nearly perfectly, however, the text wrapping code doesn't do a hard break at the 80 character mark, it tries to be smart and break on a space (at approx 20 chars in). I have got round this by replacing all spaces in the string list with a unique character (#), wrapping them and then removing the character, but surely there must be a cleaner way? N.B Any possible answers need to work on Python 2.4 - sorry!

• I've got to update a column in one SQL table with a counter stored in another table, and update that

  I'm using SQL server 2005 (for testing) & 2007 (for production). I have to add a unique record ID to all the records in my table, in an existing column, using a "last record ID" column from another table. So, I'm going to do some sort of UPDATE of my table, but I have to get the "last record ID" from the other table, increment it, update THAT table and then update my record. Can anyone give me an example of how to do this? Other users may be incrementing the counter also.

• Making an asynchronous interface appear synchronous to mod_python users

  I have a Python-driven web interface powered by Apache 2.2 with mod_python and Python 2.4. I need to make an asynchronous process appear synchronous to users of this web interface. When users access one module on this website: An external SOAP interface will be contacted with a unique identifier and will respond with a number N The external interface will respond asynchronously by contacting a SOAP server on my machine between 1 and 10 times (the number N tells us how many responses we will receive) I need to somehow aggregate these responses and pass them to the original module which will display the information back to the user. The goal is to make the process appear synchronous to the user. What is the best way to handle this synchronization issue? Is this something Twisted would be well-suited for? I am not restricting myself to Python for the solution, though it is preferred because everything else on the server is in Python. I prefer a solution that is both scalable and will take a minimal amount of programming time (though I understand that these attributes are somewhat at odds).

• Put specific tds from a table row into edit using jQuery (then update w/ ajax)

  I'm somewhat new to jQuery, so I could use some help here. This is my issue: I have a php script outputting a dynamic table. Each row has an "edit" button, plus some other fields. Only 3 of those need to be turned into an input box. The edit button should only put that specific row into "edit mode." I got as far as assigning each row a unique class by adding a number to the end of it. I have been able to use jQuery to change all of the rows into edit mode, but I need it to be specific to a row. An example row would have classes like name0, price0, and desc0. The next row would go on to classes name1, price1, and desc1 (for the fields that need changed). How can I reference these values and pass them to jQuery so it processes an event on just those elements?

  I've seen people use many-to-one mappings to represent one-to-one relationships. I've also read this in a book by Gavin King and on articles. For example, if a customer can have exactly one shipping address, and a shipping address can belong to only one customer, the mapping is given as: <class name="Customer" table="CUSTOMERS"> ... <many-to-one name="shippingAddress" class="Address" column="SHIPPING_ADDRESS_ID" cascade="save-update" unique="true"/> ... </class> The book reasons as (quoting it): "You don't care what's on the target side of the association, so you can treat it like a to-one association without the many part." My question is, why use many-to-one and not one-to-one? What is it about a one-to-one that makes it a less desirable option to many-to-one? Thanks.

Apart from this, i.e. working only on a single code base, do GWT has any other advantage compared to other existing framework?? • Seeking FOSS user admin code

  It must be a fairly standard wheel, so I'd rather not reinvent it. Create/modify/delete users. Ditto their passwords & maybe enforce password change every X days. Also, create groups, like "sales", "support", etc and add/remove users. The only unique part should be what they have permission to do (visit certain parts of the site after login, etc) And I'd like to store admin data in an ODBC compliant database (MySql to start with, but I may move on). Is this a new wheel? There doesn't seem to be much of anything on SourceForge, but if I could find something established and trusted I wouldn't even mind paying a few $100 as a trade of for the time needed to develop & test it.

  Hello, I have been looking for a while now but I can not find an easy solution for my problem. I would like to duplicate a record in a table, but of course, the unique primary key needs to be updated. I have this query: INSERT INTO invoices SELECT * FROM invoices AS iv WHERE iv.ID=XXXXX ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE ID = (SELECT MAX(ID)+1 FROM invoices) the proble mis that this just changes the ID of the row instead of copying the row. Does anybody know how to fix this ? Thank you verrry much, Digits //edit: I would like to do this without typing all the field names because the field names can change over time.
