  • Including an embedded framework using a cross-project-reference: Header no such file or directory

    I'm trying to create a Cocoa framework by using a cross-project reference in Xcode. I have 2 projects: one for the framework; one for the application that will use the framework. This framework is not intended to be stored within the system; it is an embedded framework that lives within the application bundle. I have successfully made the cross-project reference, marked the framework as being a dependency of my target, added a Copy Files build phase that puts the framework in Contents/Frameworks/ and added the framework to the linker phase (I checked the little "Target" checkbox; I've also done it manually by dragging the framework into the linker phase). My framework's install directory is correctly set to @executable_path/../Frameworks. However, when I try to build my app it: a) Correctly builds the framework first b) Correctly copies the framework c) Errors because it cannot find the master header file in my framework I have verified that the header is there. I can see it in the app product that is partially built. ls build/Debug/CioccolataTest.webapp/Contents/Frameworks/Cioccolata.framework/Headers/Cioccolata.h build/Debug/CioccolataTest.webapp/Contents/Frameworks/Cioccolata.framework/Headers/Cioccolata.h I have been able to successfully build the app by copying my framework into /Library/Frameworks (I can then delete it again after the successful build), but this is a workaround, I'm looking to find it out why Xcode doesn't find the framework's master header file without it being copied to a system directory. Is copying it to the app bundle during the build not sufficient? On Visual Studio I can work with more than one project at the same time adding them to a solution (imagine a solutin with a windows application project and a library project). Now I have XCode and two projects: an iPhone application and a static library. Is there something similar to Visual Studio's solution on XCode?     I have developed a dynamic web project in eclipse. Now I can access it through my browser using the following url: http://localhost:8080/MyDynamicWebApp Now I want to change the access url to http://localhost:8080/app I changed the context root from the project properties | Web Project Settings | Context Root But it is not working. The web app still has the access url as earlier. I have re-deployed the application on tomcat, re-started the tomcat and have done everything that should be done but the access url is the same as earlier. I found that there were no server.xml file attached with the WARfile. The how the tomcat is determining that the context root of my web app is /MyDynamicWebApp and is allowing me to access the application through that url

  • VS2010 - Add template to New Project window

    I am trying to add a new project template for an often used pattern. Starting from the class library template I have done the following (it still does not show up in the new project window): opened the .vstemplate file changed name and description to 'hard coded' values (my template). The values in there pulled from the csharpui.dll resources. changed the TemplateID, DefaultName, and ProjectItems included. saved these to the ProjectemplatesCache folder and as a zip in the ProjectTemplates folder. restarted VS2010 and checked the new project location which should have shown my new template. specifically, the folders I saved to were.. C:\program files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplatesCache\CSharp\Windows\1033\HostComm.zip (the zip is the folder name, not a zip file) and C:\program files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates\CSharp\Windows\1033 (this folder has a HostComm.zip file in it) Has anyone else done this? Can it be done? If it can then what did I miss?

    I have two projects in my Solution. One implements my business logic and has defined entity model of entity framework. When I want to work with classes defined within this project from another project I have some problems in runtime. Actually, the most concerning thing is why I can not instantiate my, so called, TicketEntities(ObjectContext) object from other projects? when I catch following exception: The specified named connection is either not found in the configuration, not intended to be used with the EntityClient provider, or not valid. I found out it's brake at: public partial class TicketEntities : global::System.Data.Objects.ObjectContext { public TicketEntities() : base("name=TicketEntities", "TicketEntities") { this.OnContextCreated(); } with exception: Unable to load the specified metadata resource. Just to remind you everthing works fine from orginal project.

    I'm getting the following errors from MSBuild while trying to build a solution: C:\dev\MySln.sln : warning MSB3422: Failed to retrieve VC project information through the VC project engine object model. Unable to determine default tool for the specified file configuration. C:\dev\MySln.sln : warning MSB3425: Could not resolve VC project reference "C:\dev\MyProj.vcproj". Have you got any ideas on what's causing this? I've seen other postings about similar, but different errors such as when the MSB3422 error has a different message and shows "Illegal characters in path.", but I haven't seen any useful information about how to solve the error I'm getting where it says "Unable to determine default tool for the specified file configuration.".     I have been using Eclipse IDE for a long time. Its a really great IDE for Java/C/C++ (and other languages with its THOUSANDS of plugins). Every once in a while, I get the need for creating a Javax interface. To do this normally, I would setup the new java project then add what I need. But, wouldn't it be nice if I could just make a template project to automatically include the code for the files. How would I go about doing this? It it even possible? The Eclipse CDT can make a new project type. So can the Google ADT and Google App engine. So I would imagine it is possible. But how?

    I was using sandcastle to generate help for my project in visual studio 2008. When i change my project to visual studio 2010 and change the project .NET version to .NET 4.0 i got this problem with Sandcastel. I can't understand why sandcastel is using C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.5\MSBuild.exe and not C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0\MSBuild.exe thinking that i specified as framework version the v4.0.30319 Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue??   • MSBuild Override Project Reference to resolve to Precompiled Assembly

    Situation I have about 400 csproj files using project references. About 3 of those a separate team wants to fork and incorporate into a standalone app. I branched the 3 projects of interest, and because the separate team uses a diff SVN repo I used svn externals to pull in these projects into the folder of the standalone app. Obviously since this team uses a different folder structure the project references no longer resolve. Attempted Solution I figured setting the msbuild properties ReferencePath and AdditionalLibPaths to point to a directory with all the precompiled dependencies would allow the project references a fallback point and resolve correctly. However that doesn't appear to be the case. Question Does anybody know a way to have a failed projectreference look up resolve to the precompiled dll? Perhaps point me to an automated tool to convert projectreferences to dll references? Or is there a better way to solve this problem? Thanks

When it is time to deploy the application i just run package on the war project and my war is created with all the dependencies. Now there is a problem. One of the my module have heavy changes. Now when i created war for my projects these changes was not reflected in the output war file(the jar in lib folder of war has still the old code). Can you please point the things i am missing from the release process? Why the old code is being packaged with the war? I'm looking for a good resource that coves the following topics: How to create an interface that promotes code maintainability and is extensible for future upgrades. Library creation guidelines. Example, when should I consider using static vs dynamic libraries. How to properly design an ABI to cope with either one. Header files: what to partition out and when. Examples on when to use 1:1 vs 1:many .h to .c Anything you feel I missed but is important when attempting to architect a new C project. Ideally, I'd like to see some example projects ranging from small to large and see how the architecture changes depending on project size, function or customer. What resource(s) would you recommend for such topics? Thanks
