    I have an application developed in asp.net which set innerhtml of div. I am creating an html string to show googlemap. It works fine. But when I put my div inside update panel. it doesnt show googlemap in div.   • Why is this SocketException not caught by a generic catch routine?

    Our company provides a network component (DLL) for a GUI application. It uses a Timer that checks for disconnections. If it wants to reconnect, it calls: internal void timClock_TimerCallback(object state) { lock (someLock) { // ... try { DoConnect(); } catch (Exception e) { // Log e.Message omitted // Raise event with e as parameter ErrorEvent(this, new ErrorEventArgs(e)); DoDisconnect(); } // ... } } So the problem is, inside of the DoConnect() routine a SocketException is thrown (and not caught). I would assume, that the catch (Exception e) should catch ALL exceptions but somehow the SocketException was not caught and shows up to the GUI application. protected void DoConnect() { // client = new TcpClient(); client.NoDelay = true; // In the following call the SocketException is thrown client.Connect(endPoint.Address.ToString(), endPoint.Port); // ... (login stuff) } The doc confirmed that SocketException extends Exception. The stacktrace that showed up is: TcpClient.Connect() -> DoConnect() -> timClock_TimerCallback So the exception is not thrown outside the try/catch block. Any ideas why it doesn't work?

    I've created a JAX-RS service (MyService) that has a number of sub resources, each of which is a subclass of MySubResource. The sub resource class being chosen is picked based on the parameters given in the MyService path, for example: @Path("/") @Provides({"text/html", "text/xml"}) public class MyResource { @Path("people/{id}") public MySubResource getPeople(@PathParam("id") String id) { return new MyPeopleSubResource(id); } @Path("places/{id}") public MySubResource getPlaces(@PathParam("id") String id) { return new MyPlacesSubResource(id); } } where MyPlacesSubResource and MyPeopleSubResource are both sub-classes of MySubResource.   • Error when calling SQL SP via LINQ

    Newbie problem: I have a SQL SP with ten parameters (eight input, two output) but when I attempt to call it via LINQ from code I get the following error message: "The best overloaded method match for 'DataClassesDataContext.ST_CR_CREATE_CASE_BASIS(string, string, string, string, System.DateTime?, string, string, string, ref int?, ref int?)' has some invalid arguments". The params with ? appear to be unrecognized, but I'm baffled: the data types match the SQL types, the number of parameters match, the other parmeters don't exhibit the same behaviour. Can anyone tell me what's going on?   • Cleaning up a sparsebundle with a script

    I'm using time machine to backup some servers to a sparse disk image bundle and I'd like to have a script to clean up the old back ups and re-size the image once space has been freed up. I'm fairly certain the data is protected because if I delete the old backups by right clicking, I have to enter a password to be able to delete them. To allow my script to be able to delete them, I've been running it as root. For some reason, it just won't run and every file it tries to delete I get rm: /file/: Operation not permitted Here is what I have as my script: #!/bin/bash for server in servername; do /usr/bin/hdiutil attach -mountpoint /path/to/mountpoint /path/to/sparsebundle/$server.sparsebundle/; /bin/sleep 10; /usr/bin/find /path/to/mountpoint -type d -mtime +7 -exec /bin/rm -rf {} \; /usr/bin/hdiutil unmount /path/to/mountpoint; /bin/sleep 10; /usr/bin/hdiutil compact /path/to/sparsebundle/$server.sparsebundle/; done exit; One of the problems I thought was causing this was it needed to have a mountpoint specified since the default mount was to /Volumes/Time\ Machine\ Backups/ that's why I created a mountpoint. I also thought that it was trying to delete the files to quickly after mounting and it wasn't actually mounted yet, that's why I added the sleep. I've also tried using the -delete option for find instead of -exec, but it didn't make any difference. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated because I'm out of ideas as to why this won't work.

    Hello, I have installed Oracle XE on my Development machine and it is working fine. Then I installed Oracle XE client on my Test machine which is also working fine and I can access Development PC database from Browser. Now, I want to create an ASP.Net application which can access that Oracle XE database.     Hello, I have a Class which models a User and another which models his country. Something like this: public class User{ private Country country; //other attributes and getter/setters } public class Country{ private Integer id; private String name; //other attributes and getter/setters } I have a Spring form where I have a combobox so the user can select his country or can select the undefined option to indicate he doen't want to provide this information. So I have something like this: <form:select path="country"> <form:option value="">-Select one-</form:option> <form:options items="${countries}" itemLabel="name" itemValue="id"/> </form:select> In my controller I get the autopopulated object with the user information and I want to have country set to null when the "-Select one-" option has been selected. So I have set a initBinder with a custom editor like this: @InitBinder protected void initBinder(WebDataBinder binder) throws ServletException { binder.registerCustomEditor(Country.class, "country", new CustomCountryEditor()); } and my editor do something like this: public class CustomCountryEditor(){ @Override public String getAsText() { //I return the Id of the country } @Override public void setAsText(String str) { //I search in the database for a country with id = new Integer(str) //and set country to that value //or I set country to null in case str == null } } When I submit the form it works because when I have country set to null when I have selected "-Select one-" option or the instance of the country selected. The problem is that when I load the form I have a method like the following one to load the user information. @ModelAttribute("user") public User getUser(){ //loads user from database } The object I get from getUser() has country set to a specific country (not a null value), but in the combobox is not selected any option. I've debugged the application and the CustomCountryEditor works good when setting and getting the text, thoughgetAsText method is called for every item in the list "countries" not only for the "country" field. Any idea? Is there a better way to set null the country object when I select no country option in the combobox? Thanks

  • ASP.NET SQLMembership Provider not logging in

    My web app uses the sql memebership provider. Running it locally all is well, deploying to a dev server it works fine too in firefox, but in IE8 something unexpected is happening. Once a user logs in they're supposed to be redirected to home.aspx. What's happening when I attempt to login is it appears to accept the login credentials but then doesn't redirect to home.aspx. Instead it just redirects me to the login page as though I had attempted to access home.aspx directly without being logged in. The url parameter ReturnUrl is appended, Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fhome.aspx Why is this only happening with IE8? My local PC is IIS7 but the server is IIS6.   • How to associate static entity instances in a Session without database retrieval

    I have a simple Result class that used to be an Enum but has evolved into being its own class with its own table. public class Result { public static readonly Result Passed = new Result(StatusType.Passed) { Id = [Predefined] }; public static readonly Result NotRun = new Result(StatusType.NotRun) { Id = [Predefined] }; public static readonly Result Running = new Result(StatusType.Running) { Id = [Predefined] }; } Each of these predefined values has a row in the database at their predefined Guid Id. There is then a failed result that has an instance per failure: public class FailedResult : Result { public FailedResult(string description) : base(StatusType.Failed) { . . . } } I then have an entity that has a Result: public class Task { public Result Result { get; set; } } When I save a Task, if the Result is a predefined one, I want NHibernate to know that it doesn't need to save that to the database, nor does it need to fetch it from the database; I just want it to save by Id. The way I get around this is when I am setting up the session, I call a method to load the static entities: protected override void OnSessionOpened(ISession session) { LockStaticResults(session, Result.Passed, Result.NotRun, Result.Running); } private static void LockStaticResults(ISession session, params Result[] results) { foreach (var result in results) { session.Load(result, result.Id); } } The problem with the session.Load method call is it appears to be fetching to the database (something I don't want to do). How could I make this so it does not fetch the database, but trusts that my static (immutable) Result instances are both up to date and a part of the session?

  • ASP.NET MVC Creating a impersonated user.

    Hi, I have a MVC app where I have a User class and the user can also impersonate another user(Admin users only). So I have this code below that authenticates the request and instantiates my version of a User class. It then tries to get the impersonated user from the Session object but Session is not available in this method in the global.asax. Hope this makes sense. The error I'm getting is Object reference not set to an instance of an object" at the line: titleTextBox.Text = xmlnode.Attributes["@title"].InnerText; so I'm not reaching the attribute "title" of the slide node.   • Control within another control in asp.net disables server-side events?

    I have a control which has a button on it. All the button does is redirect the user to another page. On this control I have another control which just display some stuff, nothing fancy. When I click on the button, it does nothing. When I remove or comment out the other control, the button event works. Is this by design? I am not sure how to fix it or what is causing it. ControlA.ascx contains a button with an event like so: protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { Response.Redirect("~/Home.aspx"); } ControlA.ascx contains another control inside of it, lets call it ControlB.ascx. The Button1 click event does not fire when ControlB.ascx is in ControlA.ascx, but when I remove it or take it out, Button1 event fires and it goes to Home.aspx. This does not only happen for Button1, if I decide to add a second button and create an event for it, if ControlB is in ControlA, the second button event won't fire either.

  • Saving HttpResponse/Request to file system

    Here is my scenario. User fills out this large page which is dynamically created based off DB values. Those values can change. When the user fills out the page and hits submit we want to save a copy of the page as html on the server, this way if the text or wording changes, when they go back to view their posted information, it is historically accurate. Here is where I need to save this page as an html file on my servers IFS!!!! else //whatever Response.Redirect("~/SomeOtherPage.aspx"); } Any help is greatly apprciated. Also I CANNOT just request the data from the url because query string parameters are a big no no in this case. The key to pull the database info up (at its highest level) is all in session so I cant just request a url and save it. Thanks!

When I try to open "Shell.xaml" in the designer it tells me : The "shell.xaml" cannot be loaded at design time because it says it could not create an instance of type "SearchBar.xaml". When I debugged the devenv.exe using another visual studio instance it tells me that it does not have access to the Brush I created in app.resources. If one is doing a Presenter first approach, how does one access resources? I had this working when the startupURI was "Shell.xaml" and the startup event was not present. Any clues/ideas/suggestions. I am just trying to understand. Everything works as expected when I run the application just not @ design time.

    I'm new to this ASP.NET stuff. In my page I have a Datalist with a FooterTemplate. In the footer I have a couple panels that will be visible depending on the QueryString. The problem I am having is trying to find these panels on Page_Load to change the Visible Property.   • ASP.NET Membership C# - How to compare existing password/hash

    I have been on this problem for a while. I need to compare a paasword that the user enters to a password that is in the membership DB. The password is hashed and has a salt. Because of the lack of documentation I do not know if the salt is append to the password and then hashed how how it is created. I am unable to get this to match. The hash returned from the function never matches the hash in the DB and I know for fact it is the same password. Microsoft seems to hash the password in a different way then I am. I hope someone has some insights please.   • How to Avoid PHP Object Nesting/Creation Limit?

    I've got a handmade ORM in PHP that seems to be bumping up against an object limit and causing php to crash. Here's a simple script that will cause crashes: <? class Bob { protected $parent; public function Bob($parent) { $this->parent = $parent; } public function __toString() { if($this->parent) return (string) "x " . $this->parent; return "top"; } } $bobs = array(); for($i = 1; $i < 40000; $i++) { $bobs[] = new Bob($bobs[$1 -1]); } ?> Even running this from the command line will cause issues. Some boxes take more than 40,000 objects. I've tried it on Linux/Appache (fail) but my app runs on IIS/FastCGI. On FastCGI this causes the famous "The FastCGI process exited unexpectedly" error. Obviously 20k objects is a bit high, but it crashes with far fewer objects if they have data and nested complexity. Fast CGI isn't the issue - I've tried running it from the command line. I've tried setting the memory to something really high - 6,000MB and to something really low - 24MB. If I set it low enough I'll get the "allocated memory size xxx bytes exhausted" error. I'm thinking that it has to do with the number of functions that are called - some kind of nesting prevention. I didn't think that my ORM's nesting was that complicated but perhaps it is. I've got some pretty clear cases where if I load just ONE more object it dies, but loads in under 3 seconds if it works.

    As a new .net/C# web begginner, I always get tripped up when I try to use FindControl. Blam -flat on my face. Now what I want to achieve is the following. 1) A Porlet containing a form is called within a page via <?php $this->widget('form'); ?> 2) The user fills in this form and clicks on submit "The submit button should be an ajax button" 3) When submit has been pressed the form should call a method within the form portlet class and the form should be replaced with a Thank you message. 4) I only want the current view in the portlet replaced with another view.
