  • JSP cant find bean Class using "" modifiers

    - by Ravana
    Hey I'm using Netbeans for my IDE and I'm getting an error when I try to run my EJB program. I get an error when I declare and give the path of the class in my JSP to a bean. <jsp:useBean id="book" class="BookBean.Book" scope="application" /> <jsp:setProperty name="book" property="*" /> When I run the program I get this error javax.servlet.ServletException: java.lang.InstantiationException: class BookBean.Book : java.lang.IllegalAccessException: Class java.beans.Beans can not access a member of class BookBean.Book with modifiers "" and java.lang.InstantiationException: class BookBean.Book : java.lang.IllegalAccessException: Class java.beans.Beans can not access a member of class BookBean.Book with modifiers "" I removed the "" and put in '' to see if that works, but it doesn't. Any idea? I also put a breakpoint there and it def. is the root of the problem. Thanks.

  • Display constantly updating information in-place in command-line window using python?

    - by AndyL
    I am essentially building a timer. I have a python script that monitors for an event and then prints out the seconds that have elapsed since that event. Instead of an ugly stream of numbers printed to the command line, I would like to display only the current elapsed time "in-place"-- so that only one number is visible at any given time. Is there a simple way to do this? If possible I'd like to use built-in python modules. I'm on Windows, so simpler the better. (E.g. no X11).

  • JDO Exception in google app engine transaction

    - by Mariselvam
    I am getting the following exception while trying to use transation in app engine datastore. javax.jdo.JDOUserException: Transaction is still active. You should always close your transactions correctly using commit() or rollback(). FailedObject:org.datanucleus.store.appengine.jdo.DatastoreJDOPersistenceManager@12bbe6b at org.datanucleus.jdo.JDOPersistenceManager.close(JDOPersistenceManager.java:277) The following is the code snippet I used : List<String> friendIds = getFriends(userId); Date currentDate = new Date(); PersistenceManager manager = pmfInstance.getPersistenceManager(); try { Transaction trans = manager.currentTransaction(); trans.begin(); for(String friendId : friendIds) { User user = manager.getObjectById(User.class, friendId); if(user != null) { user.setRecoCount(user.getRecoCount() + 1); user.setUpdatedDate(currentDate); manager.makePersistent(user); } } trans.commit(); } finally { manager.close(); }

  • Creating ActionEvent object for CustomButton in Java

    - by Crystal
    For a hw assignment, we were supposed to create a custom button to get familiar with swing and responding to events. We were also to make this button an event source which confuses me. I have an ArrayList to keep track of listeners that would register to listen to my CustomButton. What I am getting confused on is how to notify the listeners. My teacher hinted at having a notify and overriding actionPerformed which I tried doing, but then I wasn't sure how to create an ActionEvent object looking at the constructor documentation. The source, id, string all confuses me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! code: import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; import javax.swing.*; import java.util.List; import java.util.ArrayList; public class CustomButton { public static void main(String[] args) { EventQueue.invokeLater(new Runnable() { public void run() { CustomButtonFrame frame = new CustomButtonFrame(); frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); frame.setVisible(true); } }); } public void addActionListener(ActionListener al) { listenerList.add(al); } public void removeActionListener(ActionListener al) { listenerList.remove(al); } public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { System.out.println("Button Clicked!"); } private void notifyListeners() { ActionEvent event = new ActionEvent(CONFUSED HERE!!!!; for (ActionListener action : listenerList) { action.actionPerfomed(event); } } List<ActionListener> listenerList = new ArrayList<ActionListener>(); } class CustomButtonFrame extends JFrame { // constructor for CustomButtonFrame public CustomButtonFrame() { setTitle("Custom Button"); CustomButtonSetup buttonSetup = new CustomButtonSetup(); this.add(buttonSetup); this.pack(); } } class CustomButtonSetup extends JComponent { public CustomButtonSetup() { ButtonAction buttonClicked = new ButtonAction(); this.addMouseListener(buttonClicked); } // because frame includes borders and insets, use this method public Dimension getPreferredSize() { return new Dimension(200, 200); } public void paintComponent(Graphics g) { Graphics2D g2 = (Graphics2D) g; // first triangle coords int x[] = new int[TRIANGLE_SIDES]; int y[] = new int[TRIANGLE_SIDES]; x[0] = 0; y[0] = 0; x[1] = 200; y[1] = 0; x[2] = 0; y[2] = 200; Polygon firstTriangle = new Polygon(x, y, TRIANGLE_SIDES); // second triangle coords x[0] = 0; y[0] = 200; x[1] = 200; y[1] = 200; x[2] = 200; y[2] = 0; Polygon secondTriangle = new Polygon(x, y, TRIANGLE_SIDES); g2.drawPolygon(firstTriangle); g2.setColor(firstColor); g2.fillPolygon(firstTriangle); g2.drawPolygon(secondTriangle); g2.setColor(secondColor); g2.fillPolygon(secondTriangle); // draw rectangle 10 pixels off border int s1[] = new int[RECT_SIDES]; int s2[] = new int[RECT_SIDES]; s1[0] = 5; s2[0] = 5; s1[1] = 195; s2[1] = 5; s1[2] = 195; s2[2] = 195; s1[3] = 5; s2[3] = 195; Polygon rectangle = new Polygon(s1, s2, RECT_SIDES); g2.drawPolygon(rectangle); g2.setColor(thirdColor); g2.fillPolygon(rectangle); } private class ButtonAction implements MouseListener { public void mousePressed(MouseEvent e) { System.out.println("Click!"); firstColor = Color.GRAY; secondColor = Color.WHITE; repaint(); } public void mouseReleased(MouseEvent e) { System.out.println("Released!"); firstColor = Color.WHITE; secondColor = Color.GRAY; repaint(); } public void mouseEntered(MouseEvent e) {} public void mouseExited(MouseEvent e) {} public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e) {} } public static final int TRIANGLE_SIDES = 3; public static final int RECT_SIDES = 4; private Color firstColor = Color.WHITE; private Color secondColor = Color.DARK_GRAY; private Color thirdColor = Color.LIGHT_GRAY; }

  • IPhone: different system timers??

    - by matt
    I have been using mach_absolute_time() for all my timing functions so far. calculating how long between frames ect. I now want to get the exact time touch input events happen using event.timestamp in the touch callbacks. the problem is these two seem to use completely different timers. sure, you can get them both in seconds, but their origins are different and seemingly random... is there any way to sync the two different timers? or is there anyway to get access to the same timer that the touch input uses to generate that timestamp property? otherwise its next to useless.

  • How to leave out some statements while executing java code?

    - by iamrohitbanga
    In C++ if we do not want some statements to compile into code that ships like assert function calls, we control their compilation through #ifndef preprocessor directives. How do we do this in Java? I have some System.out.println() statements for debugging which I would like to remove for the final code. one way is to make them execute conditionally under the affect of a boolean variable. Is there a better way of doing this? As I have a java swing application I can turn off the System.out.println statements without affecting the output. What is the method of doing this?

  • FindBugs and CheckForNull on classes vs. interfaces

    - by ndn
    Is there any way to let FindBugs check and warn me if a CheckForNull annotation is present on the implementation of a method in a class, but not on the declaration of the method in the interface? import javax.annotation.CheckForNull; interface Foo { public String getBar(); } class FooImpl implements Foo { @CheckForNull @Override public String getBar() { return null; } } public class FindBugsDemo { public static void main(String[] args) { Foo foo = new FooImpl(); System.out.println(foo.getBar().length()); } } I just discovered a bug in my application due to a missing null check that was not spotted by FindBugs because CheckForNull was only present on FooImpl, but not on Foo, and I don't want to spot all other locations of this problem manually.

  • Getting Notifications in Background Mode iOS?

    - by Pau Senabre
    I'm trying to get Notifications in Background Mode by running a method every minute to see if there are new notifications. This works great in Active Mode, but I saw for background mode it is restricted to 7 keys. I enabled the Background Mode with the option Background Fetch, but seems like the method is being called but it's not complete. In AppDelegate I'm calling: - (void)applicationDidEnterBackground:(UIApplication *)application { //This has a Timer to execute every minute [self GetNotifications]; //This executes a NSMutableURLRequest *request //giving back the JSON data with the notifications } I would like to do something like Facebook does for Notifications. Any idea how to do this?

  • Viewing directory containing MIME encoded email messages

    - by Mark
    I have an application which generates and sends MIME encoded messages (javax.mail.internet.MimeMessage) through an SMTP server. As part of the development process only, I'd like to be able to view these messages rather than send them (I know the sending works just fine, but there are restrictions on the domains within the dev environment which makes it a little difficult) I thought the easiest way would be to save the text for each message to a directory, then point "an app" at the directory and check them over. So the question is, what would be a good app to use? Is it as simple as configuring Outlook or another email client to do it? Thanks

  • Preventing ListBox scrolling to top when updated

    - by WDZ
    I'm trying to build a simple music player with a ListBox playlist. When adding audio files to the playlist, it first fills the ListBox with the filenames and then (on a separate thread) extracts the ID3 data and overwrites the filenames with the correct Artist - Title information (much like Winamp). But while the ListBox is being updated, it's unscrollable, as it always jumps to the top on every item overwrite. Any way to prevent this? EDIT: The code: public Form1() { //Some initialization code omitted here BindingList<TAG_INFO> trackList = new BindingList<TAG_INFO>(); // The Playlist this.playlist = new System.Windows.Forms.ListBox(); this.playlist.Location = new System.Drawing.Point(12, 12); this.playlist.Name = "playlist"; this.playlist.Size = new System.Drawing.Size(229, 316); this.playlist.DataSource = trackList; } private void playlist_add_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { //Initialize OpenFileDialog OpenFileDialog opd = new OpenFileDialog(); opd.Filter = "Music (*.WAV; *.MP3; *.FLAC)|*.WAV;*.MP3;*.FLAC|All files (*.*)|*.*"; opd.Title = "Select Music"; opd.Multiselect = true; //Open OpenFileDialog if (DialogResult.OK == opd.ShowDialog()) { //Add opened files to playlist for (int i = 0; opd.FileNames.Length > i; ++i) { if (File.Exists(opd.FileNames[i])) { trackList.Add(new TAG_INFO(opd.FileNames[i])); } } //Initialize BackgroundWorker BackgroundWorker _bw = new BackgroundWorker(); _bw.WorkerReportsProgress = true; _bw.DoWork += new DoWorkEventHandler(thread_trackparser_DoWork); _bw.ProgressChanged += new ProgressChangedEventHandler(_bw_ProgressChanged); //Start ID3 extraction _bw.RunWorkerAsync(); } } void thread_trackparser_DoWork(object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e) { BackgroundWorker _bw = sender as BackgroundWorker; for (int i = 0; i < trackList.Count; ++i) { //Pass extracted tag info to _bw_ProgressChanged for thread-safe playlist entry update _bw.ReportProgress(0,new object[2] {i, BassTags.BASS_TAG_GetFromFile(trackList[i].filename)}); } } void _bw_ProgressChanged(object sender, ProgressChangedEventArgs e) { object[] unboxed = e.UserState as object[]; trackList[(int)unboxed[0]] = (unboxed[1] as TAG_INFO); } EDIT2: Much simpler test case: Try scrolling down without selecting an item. The changing ListBox will scroll to the top again. using System; using System.Windows.Forms; namespace WindowsFormsApplication1 { public class Form1 : Form { private System.ComponentModel.IContainer components = null; protected override void Dispose(bool disposing) { if (disposing && (components != null)) { components.Dispose(); } base.Dispose(disposing); } private void InitializeComponent() { this.components = new System.ComponentModel.Container(); this.listBox1 = new System.Windows.Forms.ListBox(); this.timer1 = new System.Windows.Forms.Timer(this.components); this.SuspendLayout(); // listBox1 this.listBox1.FormattingEnabled = true; this.listBox1.Location = new System.Drawing.Point(0, 0); this.listBox1.Name = "listBox1"; this.listBox1.Size = new System.Drawing.Size(200, 290); // timer1 this.timer1.Enabled = true; this.timer1.Tick += new System.EventHandler(this.timer1_Tick); // Form1 this.AutoScaleDimensions = new System.Drawing.SizeF(6F, 13F); this.AutoScaleMode = System.Windows.Forms.AutoScaleMode.Font; this.ClientSize = new System.Drawing.Size(200, 290); this.Controls.Add(this.listBox1); this.Name = "Form1"; this.Text = "Form1"; this.ResumeLayout(false); } private System.Windows.Forms.ListBox listBox1; private System.Windows.Forms.Timer timer1; public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); for (int i = 0; i < 45; i++) listBox1.Items.Add(i); } int tickCounter = -1; private void timer1_Tick(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (++tickCounter > 44) tickCounter = 0; listBox1.Items[tickCounter] = ((int)listBox1.Items[tickCounter])+1; } } static class Program { [STAThread] static void Main() { Application.EnableVisualStyles(); Application.SetCompatibleTextRenderingDefault(false); Application.Run(new Form1()); } } }

  • JPA EclipseLink Auditing for Oracle issue with SessionCustomizer...

    - by enrique
    I was trying to use the SessionCustomizer for auditing with v$session.program for oracle and it works with JDBC but i need it working with JPA, so i read a bit more the documentation for SESSION_CUSTOMIZER in this site: http://wiki.eclipse.org/Using_EclipseLink_JPA_Extensions_(ELUG)#EclipseLink_JPA_Persistence_Unit_Properties_for_Customization_and_Validation but had not lucky in making it work in passing the program name parameter to oracle with the v$session.program... i was using the SessionCustomizer and it is an interface so my code is as follows: package com.util; import org.eclipse.persistence.config.SessionCustomizer; import org.eclipse.persistence.sessions.Session; /** * * @author xkalibur */ public class ProgramCustomizer implements SessionCustomizer{ public void customize(Session s) throws Exception { s.getDatasourceLogin().setProperty("v$session.program","Customers"); } } then in CustomerFacade : ProgramCustomizer pc=new ProgramCustomizer(); public void edit(Customer customer) { emProperties.put(PersistenceUnitProperties.SESSION_CUSTOMIZER,pc); em=factory.createEntityManager(emProperties); em.merge(customer); } and returns the following error: javax.ejb.EJBException Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException at com.facades.CustomerFacade.edit(CustomerFacade.java:48) please some help...

  • creating BeanInfo objects in NetBeans 6.1 does not work for some objects

    - by Coder
    I have recently learned about BeanInfo classes in Java, and have successfully used them to add icons to my custom GUI components which extend swing components such as JTextField, however i have a more specialized GUI component which extends from another one of my GUI components, which then extends from JTextField. Ie. the class hierarchy is of the form "A - B - JTextField". I can create a bean info object that works for class B, but when i click on the bean info editor option in netbeans to create a bean info object for class A, nothing happens. Ie. there is no error pop-up and a bean info object is not created. There isn't much difference between class A and B. Both A and B have default no argument constructors and they are very similar to each other. The only thing i can really think of is that A uses generics and B does not. I would like to create a beaninfo object for class A so that i can add custom icons for that component. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • iphone getting hours/min/seconds app crashes.

    - by coure06
    i have this code in my overridden drawRect method NSDate *date = [NSDate date]; NSCalendar *calendar = [NSCalendar currentCalendar]; unsigned int unitFlags = NSHourCalendarUnit|NSMinuteCalendarUnit|NSSecondCalendarUnit; NSDateComponents *comp = [calendar components:unitFlags fromDate:date]; NSInteger h = [comp hour]; NSInteger m = [comp minute]; NSInteger s = [comp second]; NSLog(@"%i,%i,%i", h,m,s); NSLog(@"test"); [date release]; [calendar release]; [comp release]; I am calling drawRect using setNeedsDisplay from my custom method (timer based after each 1 secon). It runs only once and then app exit automatically. If i comment out all the code and just write NSLog(@"test"); then application works ok, it logs "test" after each 1 sec.

  • Actionscript 3.0 platformer game

    - by Jez
    I have an flash game with the following code (http://pastie.org/9248528) When I run it, the player just falls and doesn't stop when he hits a platform. I tried debugging it and I had an error with moveCharacter's timer, but I don't know if that is the main problem. I put the player inside the wall and debugged it using breakpoints and it didn't detect that the player was inside the wall, skipping moving it to outside of the wall. If anyone has any ideas on what is wrong with my code then that would be great thanks!

  • Which method should I use to give the perception the computer is thinking in programming?

    - by Roy
    I want to create a simple game like tic tac toe where the human user is playing against the computer. The computer function takes a couple of milliseconds to run but I would like to make the computer take 5 seconds to make a move. Which method should I use? 1) Create two memory threads. One for the computer and one for the human user. When the computer is taking 5 seconds to imitate thinking, the human user thread is paused for 5 seconds. 2) Disable input devices for 5 seconds using timer or dispatchertimer 3) Any better methods you can think of Thanks!

  • How to get the action from the HttpServlet request to dispatch to multiple pages

    - by JFB
    I am using the Page Controller pattern. How could I use the same controller for two different pages by detecting the request action and then dispatching according to the result? Here is my code: account.jsp <form name="input" action="<%=request.getContextPath() %>/edit" method="get"> <input type="submit" value="Modifier" /> </form> Account Servlet public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException { System.out.println("received HTTP GET"); String action = request.getParameter("action"); if (action == null) { // the account page dispatch(request, response, "/account"); } else if (action == "/edit") { // the popup edit page dispatch(request, response, "/edit"); } protected void dispatch(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response, String page) throws javax.servlet.ServletException, java.io.IOException { RequestDispatcher dispatcher = getServletContext() .getRequestDispatcher(page); dispatcher.forward(request, response); } }

  • VB.NET: SQLite to MSSQL

    - by user1736785
    I have a vb.net project that uses a SQLite database. I do this by using dataset/table adapters. The client is happy and all works well. However I have just heard that they plan on providing this product to another customer that wishes to use their MSSQL database. So I am writing this post so I can mentally prepare for this before I begin. I am not a database pro and have really enjoyed the simplicity of setting up and managing an SQLite database. So any ideas on the easiest way to support MSSQL as well? I am happy to run them parallel to each other. Can I just make a separate service / middleware that syncs the SQLite database to the MSSQL on a timer and does not care about what the main app is up to? Any pointers are appreciated.

  • Manually Dispatching a DocumentEvent for testing UI element validation code

    - by Bassam
    Hi. I'm testing a Swing GUI application using the UISpec4J testing framework. I'm testing validation code on a JTextField, but the framework does not support focus-change events, as it runs the application in a headless fashion. The text field has a DocumentEvent attached to it that activates the validation code. I'm trying to figure out how to dispatch the document event manually to activate the validation code. Trying to dispatch focus or mouse events manually haven't been working for me. Thanks for any help!

  • Google app engine sessions now supported???

    - by user246114
    Hi, I thought google app engine did not support sessions (last time I checked was a few months ago). Now I was searching again for it and saw this: http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/java/config/appconfig.html#Enabling_Sessions says it supports: javax.servlet.http.HttpSession does this mean we have servlet session support now? If so, does anyone have an example of using this? I wanted to create my own User class and support user login and session management (I know app engine already supports this for google users, but wanted my own users for various requirements) Thanks!

  • What are the alternatives for Java authentication?

    - by Crusader
    Preferably something that integrates well with a Flex front end. Yes the Spring Security guys say this is possible, but all examples seem to use legacy jsp tag libraries making them half useless as examples. I don't want to spend a month setting up and learning how to use a security tool. I would like a tool which supports using annotations (@RolesAllowed etc), MINIMAL XML, and 'remember-me' features (not cookie based). Apache Shiro seems to support Flex/Silverlight/Swing as well but I'd like to know if there are any other alternatives that are NOT container specific.

  • Using Jquery to slowly hide a div

    - by Pete Herbert Penito
    Hi everyone! I'm trying to make some code which finds if a div exists, and if it does then have it fade away slowly. I have this to determine whether or not the div exists if($('#error').length != 0) { $('#error').hide(500); } And that does work but only on a refresh, I've been attempting to put it in a timer like this: var refreshId = setInterval(function() { if($('#error').length != 0) { $('#error').hide(500); } }, 500); But its not getting rid of the innerHTML! I have some code which on hover alters the innerHTML of the error div so I can fill it up, but for some reason this isn't working, any advice would help! Thank you!

  • Communicate between service and winform

    - by Richard Tivey
    I could do with a bit of help with a windows service im writing in c#. The service basically just runs various tasks on a schedule. It has 3 main sections: a class which contains everything for the task (config, code to be executed when it runs, etc), the service which contains instances of the tasks, running them on a timer and a windows form which is used to configure the settings for the task. The question I have is would it be possible to reference the service from the Winform whilst the service is running? Ultimately I want to be able to open the Winform and see a live status of what the service is currently doing. I've considered writing something network related to get around it but it didn't seem correct considering that both processes would be on the same machine.

  • Getting a NullReferenceException Error when invoking a Select File Dialog Box

    - by codingguy3000
    Hey everyone This is a real newbie question. I have simple app that selects a picture and display's that picture in a PictureBox. I decided to mess with the Opacity Attribute so I added a timer and created this cool effect where the Main Form's Opacity is increased by 20% every 400 miliseconds. The problem is that now when I click the button that invokes the Select File Dialog Box I'm getting a NullReferenceException error. private void tmrClock_Tick(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (ViewerForm.ActiveForm.Opacity != 1) { ActiveForm.Opacity = ActiveForm.Opacity + .20; } } The error message is pointing to the if statement. What am I doing wrong? Thanks
