  I have a model, Order, that has an action in the admin panel that lets an admin send information about the order to certain persons listed that order. Each person has language set and that is the language the message is supposed to be sent in.   What is the correct way to use socket_select within PHP to send and receive data? I have a connection to the server that allows for both TCP & UDP packet connections, I am utilizing both. Within these connections I'm both sending and receiving packets on the same port, but the TCP packet will be sent on one port (29999) and UDP will be sent on another port (30000). The transmission type will be that of AF_INET. The IP address will be loopback 127.0.0.1. I have many questions on how to create a socket connection within this scenario. For example, is it better to use socket_create_pair to make the connection, or use just socket_create followed by socket_connect, and then implement socket_select? There is a chance that no data will be sent from the server to the client, and it is up to the client to maintain the connection. This will be done by utilizing the time out function within the socket_select call. Should no data be sent within the time limit, the socket_select function will break and a keep alive packet can then be sent.   I have a application that reads a PDF, transform the content to collection of TIF files, and send them to Glass Fish Server for saving. Usually there are 1-5 pages and it works nice, but when I got a input file with 100+ pages... it throws error on the transfer. Java heap space at java.util.Arrays.copyOf(Arrays.java:2786) at java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream.write(ByteArrayOutputStream.java:94) Putting more resources is not a good option in my case, so I m looking for a way to optimize it somehow. I store the data in: HashMap<TifProfile, List<byte[]> Is there a better way to store or send them ? EDIT I did some tests and the final collections for PDF with 80 pages has size over 280mb (240 tiffs with different settings inside)

I would prefer it if there is a solution to use an image from my resources and not an external link. Any solutions?

• How can I log into gmail in a script/program using HTTPS?

  My teacher has given me as an assignment to log into gmail and then send one e-mail or read the list of unread e-mails, but I can't use IMAP/POP3/SMTP or anything that isn't HTTP or HTTPS. I've tried looking for libraries in Ruby/Java to do it but nothing really worked for me. I tried looking at the gmail source code page but I couldn't really understand what was going on. The page seems to call a post method on a link, but sniffing the packets what I saw was a GET apparently using a session generated using the info I send. So sending it "raw" didn't work either. I've no idea what to do now.

  I have a system to handle Applications online and a different system to send SMS/Email notifications to applicants on completion using web services. I can't guarantee the availability of the SMS/Email gateway. Option 1 After an application is complete, place a message on a JMS queue. A Message Driven bean receives the message and make a call for the web service, if it fails leave the message on the queue. I suspect (please correct if incorrect) that if the gate way is offline the continuosly try to send the message which might use up valuable resources. Can the above option be refined are are there any other messaging strategies that can be used?

  Wait, wait, this is a programming question! I want to build an extension if none exists. Imagine this: you come across a webpage that says "Just send a message to [email protected]" but to actually send the email, you need to highlight the address and then cut and paste it into the recipient field of a new compose window of your email client of choice. Obviously life would be easier if it were simply a mailto: link, so you could click on it and have a new message created automatically. (Or if the page designer had used a form, perhaps ...) I was originally going to ask if there was an extension to enable similar functionality for unlinked twitter @username mentions but I thought this email address problem would be a simpler situation. If you think it would be useless, perhaps I should look at the twitter username problem instead. Thanks for your feedback.

  I have an asp.net page where two grid views are available showing current stock market price updates. I need to update these two grid views every 20 seconds. So I was thinking of using JQuery to do this job. What I need is a timer which will fire every 20 seconds, send an ajax request to the servers, bring the order lists from the server using json and then update those two grid views. If a request to the server is still being served 20 seconds after it is fired, then I want the old one to be aborted without causing any trouble. I already know how to bring objects using json. I just need to figure out how to send a request every 20 seconds and cancel a request if it is still being server for 20 seconds.

For the Oracle procedure, I specified a path for the GeneratedUserTypesAssemblyFilePath parameter to generate a DLL to contain the definition of the data types. In the Send Port on the server, I put the path to that Types DLL in the UserAssembliesLoadPath parameter. I created a map to translate the GetItemChanges() schema to the Update_Item_Region_Table() schema. When I run it the data is extracted and transformed fine but causes an exception trying to pass the data to the Oracle proc: *The adapter failed to transmit message going to send port "WcfSendPort_OracleDBBinding_HOST_DATA_Procedure_Custom" with URL "oracledb://dvotst/". It will be retransmitted after the retry interval specified for this Send Port. Details:"System.InvalidOperationException: Custom type mapping for 'HOST_DATA.TBL_OF_REC' is not specified or is invalid.* So it is apparently not getting the information about the custom data type TBL_OF_REC into the Types DLL. Any tips on how to make this work?

  I am trying to use PHP to send text to an LED sign so I can send support ticket numbers to it. The sign itself is a piece of work; it came from eBay and is poorly made with almost no documentation. After fiddling with it for a while, I was able to figure out the way it expected stuff to be sent to it and that the baud rate is 28800. I already know how to communicate with stuff like this using PHP, but I don't know how to change the baud rate to something nonstandard. I've tried other baud rates, and haven't been able to get it to work.

I already have a large number of $.post() functions, so I don't want to change to $.ajax() because it would take too much time If I try $.post(url, data, function(), "json") It still has contentType=application/x-www-form-urlencoded. So what exactly does the "json" param do if it does not change the contenttype to json? If I try $.ajaxSetup({ contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8" }); That works but affects every single $.get and $.post that I have and causes some to break. So is there some way that I can change the behavior of $.post() to send contentType=application/json?

  I have load balanced web servers, that with the existing code base, handles when a user logs into the site. I would like to send a broadcast message to any applications that have subscribed saying 'hey x logged in' ? So have many web servers and many applications subscribing. How does discovery work/configuration work with nservicebus ? Should each application know about each web server and subscribe individually or is this where the distributer comes in, so web servers all send to the 1 distributer and all application subscribe to single distributer and the distributer relays the message ?   Is there any way to send a copy (command-c) instruction without using a cgEvent to mimic the keystrokes? I don't have access to the text field in the application I want to take text from, so need to replicate manually copying to the clipboard, and there seemss to be a bug with cgevent posting. How else might I send a copy command to the active window?

• Is a new thread in a Visual Studio test project aborted when the test ends?

  Hi, i have to do some message exchange with a 3rd party (in a website). When the client posts a page, i start the message exchange. When that doesn't succeed for some reason, i report this to the client by rendering the page with a message. On the background, in a separate thread, i start a process to send abort messages to the 3rd party. I can't do this while the user is waiting for the page to come back, because it might take a few minutes. But in a test project, the test ends when the message to the 3rd party is sent, and after the new thread is started. But it seems that the new thread also ends, when the test is done. Is that normal behaviour? I do start the thread in a new class with a reference to 2 objects from the class which tries to send the message in the first place, may that be a problem?
