  • Setting an empty default value for a char-column in MySQL?

    Hi In phpMyAdmin I have a char(32) column that has no default value(ie. Default: None). When I try to insert data through a SQL query, it throws out an error saying that the column "doesn't have a default value". I need it to be empty, so instead I've just set it's default value as "As defined: " and then nothing in the value field. Is this a bad idea? And is it any better than simply throwing in an empty value for the column in the SQL query? Thanks for your time.

    I have set up a default setting for my app using Root.plist, giving this a Boolean DefaultValue of YES (ticked checkbox).You can see a screengrab at http://www.infin8design.com/clients/stack/plist.png However, when my app is first launched, the YES value is not picked up, and the setting is read as a NO (or 0). The user has to manually go into the settings app, turn the toggleswitch off, then turn it back on again for this setting to hold a YES(1) value. I'm logging the value with appDidFinishLaunching like this. - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; NSLog(@"%d",[defaults boolForKey:@"include_phrases"]); SO... my question is... In our application we use Serverless Binding to execute our LDAP queries http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms677945(v=vs.85).aspx. If we look at de DnsHostName of the LDAP://RootDse on site B we always get the default domain controller of site A. Therefor all LDAP queries go much slower. Is there a way to change the default domain controller per site ?

    Everytime I acquire a new server or reload an existing server (CentOS 6.X) I have to decide what services to leave running in chkconfig. It seems the datacenter staff aren't using a single edition of CentOS and sometimes the default services running are different. I'm always inclined to turn off every service I've never heard of but then I think, if it's not broken don't fix it. How do you deal with the default services in a new installation?

  • Why does my font in the OneNote 2010 beta keep changing back to a non-default?

    In OneNote options I've set a particular default font. Then I selected all text in a particular notebook section and change it to the new font. However, whenever I insert a new line in that existing body of text, it reverts to a font that isn't my default. Almost as if the incorrect "style" information is somehow embedded in the existing text, even though the text itself is the correct font. How can I resolve this?

  • Is there an IE8 setting for "minimum font size" to display?

    When I look at our website in IE8 the text we have set to display smaller doesn't display smaller. But when I use BrowserShots.org it shows IE8 renderings with the smaller text appropriately smaller. So I'm thinking that there must be some setting in IE8 for "minimum font size to display". It's not the the TextSize (set to Medium) or Zoom setting (I set/reset zoom to 100%). It's something else. Any ideas?

    Have a HDFS/Hadoop cluster setup and am looking into tuning. I wonder if changing the default HDFS replication factor (default:3) to something bigger will improve mapper performance, at the obvious expense of increasing disk storage used? My reasoning being that if the data is already replicated to more nodes, mapper jobs can be run on more nodes in parallel without any data streaming/copying? Anyone got any opinions?

  • How can I make my eth0 connection default on startup?

    I'm running kubuntu 9.10 and every time I log in auto eth0 is used instead of my custom connection called "batnet". I have batnet set to automatically connect, but despite this it is ignored and the default auto eth0 is used instead. This would be fine IF I could somehow figure out how to define a static ip for auto eth0. I would prefer to just make the 'batnet' connection default. How can I do this?
