  • VS2010 and CSS: What is the best way to position a single form control

    OK, I have a ton of controls on my page that I need to individually place. I need to set a margin here, a padding there, etc. None of these particular styles that I want to apply will be applied to more than control. What is the bets practice for determining at which level the style is placed, etc? OK, my choices are 1) External CSS file 1A) Using ClientIdMode = Auto (the default) I could assign a unique CssClass value to the ASP.NET control and, in the external CSS file, create a class selector that would only be applied to that one control. 1B) User Client ID = Predicatable In the external CSS file, I could determine what the ID will be for the controls of interest and create an ID selector (#ControlID{Style} ). However, I fear maintenance issues due to including/removing parent containers that would cause the ID to change. 1C) User Client ID = Static. I could choose static IDs for the controls such that I minimize the likelihood of a clash with auto generated IDs (perhaps by prefixing the ID with "StaticID_" and use an external stylesheet with ID selectors. 2) I could place the style right on the control. The only disadvantage here, as I see it, is that style info is brought down each time instead of being cached , which is what I'd get using an external CSS. If a style isn't resused, I personally don't see much benefit to placing it in an external file, though please explain why if you disagree. Is there moire of a reason that "It's nice to have all the CSS in one place?"

  • javascript not firing when asp.net user control loads

    I am trying to fire a Javascript call when an ASP.net user control to an aspx page. The Web site allows users to add user controls to a page (similar to adding a widget etc to a page like google widgets). But when the control is added the javascript does not fire, only if the page is refreshed will it fire the javascript. IF the next time the website is accessd and the controlis still there the javascript fires too. Do I need to use the RegisterClientScript method to register the call (setAutoTimer()) on the control load or OnPreRender event.     warning lnk4075:ignoring /editandcontinue due to /opt:icp specification error lnk2005: initp+misc_invarg already defined in libcmtd.lib(invarg.obj) i have many more errors lnk2005 all int he libcmt.lib file in the invarg.obj also lnk2098:: defaultlib conflicts with use of other libs. when i had it as debug it was all working i just started to make a release and everything went south. could I get some help how to do the release version the lib i was using is a composite lib which was working with my test app. however before i do the final release i wanted to test the release version of my lib but when i include that into my test app i got the aforementioned errors

  • PC hangs and reboots from time to time

    Hello, I have a very strange problem: Since I have my new PC, I have always had problems with it. From time to time the computer freezes for some seconds and suddendly reboots by itself. I've had this problem since Ubuntu 9.10. The same with 10.04 and 10.10. That's why I don't think it's a software failure because the problem persist too long. It doesn't have anything to do with what I'm doing at this time. Sometimes I listen to music, sometimes I only use Firefox, sometimes I'm running 2 or 3 VMs, sometimes I watch DVD. So it's not isolatable. I could freeze once a day or once a week. I put the PC to the vendor twice(!). The first time they changed my power supply but the problem persisted. The second time they told me that they made some heavy performance tests 50 hours long but they didn't find anything. (How can that be that I have daily freezes with normal usage). The vendor didn't check the hard discs because they used their own disc with Windows. (So they never checked the Linux installation). Yesterday I made some intensive hard disc scans with "SMART" but no errors were found. I ran memtest for 3 times but no errors found. I already had this problem in my old flat, so I doubt that I has something to do with current fluctuation. I already tried another electrical socket and changed to connector strip but the problem persists. At the moment I removed 2 of the RAMs (2x 2GB). In all I have 6GB, 2x2GB and 2x1GB. Could this difference maybe be a problem? Here is a list of my components. I hope that anybody find something I didn't think about yet.   • Control Less Window gets stuck in Win7

Though it connects to the wi-fi network however a control-less windows gets stuck in the middle of the my win7 desktop screen and does not goes off.     I've got cpu, cpuacct and memory cgroups configured via /etc/cgconfig.conf ( cgconfig-bin on Lucid ). I can add new control groups, and assign processes to them however there does not seem to be a facility for changing the paramters of the root level memory cgroup ( the actual mount point ). How would one best set such parameters in a clean manner withoput c For example, I've the memory cgroup mounted to /var/run/cgroup/memory. I'd like to have /var/run/cgroup/memory/memory.use_hierarchy set to 1 on boot.

  • CentOS Server with WHM/cPanel control panel - email is not beeing sent out

The problem is that the email, either sent from the cPanel webmail or other client like Outlook does not get sent out with no visible error message on the client side.   • X window (or whole linux system) replace Caps Lock with ESC *and* Control

    on windows there are several key maps applications that replaces Caps lock with ESC on a single 'press and relase' and with a Control signal if hold and another key is pressed. Is there any way to do something similar on linux? Ideally on the whole system, but if it is only for X window it is fine too. i'm currently writting scripts with the xautomation package tools. but i guess there is already a better way to do that via configurations.

    My companies production dynamic web servers ( Apache + PHP 5.1x) are using the Apache expires module and there is a clause inside http.conf as follows: <FilesMatch ".+"> ExpiresActive On ExpiresDefault "A0" </FilesMatch> If I were to set inside a php script "Cache-Control" and "Expires", would it get eaten by this clause? Normally I would test this on my own but having trouble convincing the Expires module to function on my workstation and the company Admin's are down at the data-center.

  • Recommendations or advice for shared computer control

    Basic scenario: we are a school (overwhelmingly Mac, some Windows machines via BootCamp), and we are considering using DeepFreeze to guard the state of our shared machines. We have roughly 250 machines that are either shared laptops (which move around quite a bit) or common desktops in public spaces. Obviously, we spend a lot of time maintaining the machines and trying to reverse the inevitable drift as people make changes to the computers. We would like to control the integrity of the build we initially put onto the machines without handcuffing users and especially without using Mac's Parental Control software. (We've had nothing but bad experiences with it.) We've been testing DeepFreeze, and so far it's very impressive. But I'm curious to hear if people who have used DeepFreeze or any similar software have any advice or tips. To get things started, I will post my own pros and cons. Pros: The state of the machine is frozen in our chosen state. All changes made to the machine after that disappear upon restart. (This frozen state really appears to cover everything. I have yet to do something to a test machine that isn't instantly healed.) Tons of trivial but time-consuming maintenance is gone in an instant. Also, lots of not-so-trivial breakage should be avoided. There are good options, however, that allow you to create storage spaces either globally or per user. (Otherwise, stored files disappear upon reboot. For some machines, this is a good option itself. Simply warn people: save externally or else; this machine is a kiosk, not your storage space.) Cons: Anytime we actually need to make a change (upgrade basic software, add a printer or an airport permanently, add new software), the process is a bit more complex. Reboot into a special mode (thaw state), make changes, reboot back into frozen mode. If (when?) we forget this, we will end up making changes that disappear after the next reboot. Users will forget to save files correctly (in the right place or externally), and we will have loud, unpleasant conversations explaining that we can't recover the document they worked on all afternoon yesterday. The machine rebooted. The file is gone. These are my initial thoughts, but I would love to hear from other people who have experience with DeepFreeze or any similar software. What should we be careful about? Do the pros outweigh the cons? What gains or problems am I not seeing? Thanks.

  • Install Windows control panel applet in Wine

    I want to add the bthprops.cpl dll (The bluetooth control panel applet) to my wine install under Ubuntu 10.04 since it is required for Dolphin Emulator. http://www.dolphin-emulator.com/ I copied the file from my windows install into the System32 folder in .wine and into the folder where the application I am trying to run is, but wine still fails to load it. Is there anything else I need to do to make the dll accessible for wine programs? (Please don't suggest the native linux Version of Dolphin as a fix - it is not working for me)
