  • Difference of two 'uint'

    - by vanslly
    When you attempt to declare an unsigned variable in C#.NET with a value outside its value range it is flagged as a compiler error, but if you produce a negative value at runtime and assign it to that variable at runtime the value wraps. uint z = -1; // Will not compile uint a = 5; uint b = 6; uint c = a - b; // Will result in uint.MaxValue Is there a good reason why unsigned variables wrap in such a situation instead of throwing an exception? Thanks.

  • Activator.CreateInstance(string) and Activator.CreateInstance<T>() difference

    - by Juan Manuel Formoso
    No, this is not a question about generics. I have a Factory pattern with several classes with internal constructors (I don't want them being instantiated if not through the factory). My problem is that CreateInstance fails with a "No parameterless constructor defined for this object" error unless I pass "true" on the non-public parameter. Example // Fails Activator.CreateInstance(type); // Works Activator.CreateInstance(type, true); I wanted to make the factory generic to make it a little simpler, like this: public class GenericFactory<T> where T : MyAbstractType { public static T GetInstance() { return Activator.CreateInstance<T>(); } } However, I was unable to find how to pass that "true" parameter for it to accept non-public constructors (internal). Did I miss something or it isn't possible?

  • Squid reverse proxy array - siblings not communicating with each other

    - by V. Romanov
    I want to set up 2 squid servers to act as reverse proxy and cache for a webserver on our intranet. The load balancing will be done with DNS round robin or just different mappings for different clients. The thing is, I want both servers to try and contact each other to see if they have the object required in cache before contacting the webserver for it (the network that servers the webserver is the bottleneck and I'm trying to eliminate it) Both squids are configured the same, here are the relevant config lines : acl dvr1_cache_it_best_tv_com dstdomain dvr1.cache.it.best-tv.com acl squid1_it_best_tv_com dstdomain squid1.it.best-tv.com acl squid2_it_best_tv_com dstdomain squid2.it.best-tv.com http_access allow dvr1_cache_it_best_tv_com http_access allow squid1_it_best_tv_com http_access allow squid2_it_best_tv_com http_access allow all http_port 8081 accel defaultsite=dvr1.cache.it.best-tv.com cache_peer dvr1.origin.it.best-tv.com parent 80 0 no-query originserver name=Proxy_dvr1_origin_it_best_tv_com cache_peer squid1.it.best-tv.com sibling 8081 3130 weight=10 name=Proxy_Squid1_it_best_tv_com cache_peer squid2.it.best-tv.com sibling 8081 3130 weight=10 name=Proxy_Squid2_it_best_tv_com cache_peer_access Proxy_dvr1_origin_it_best_tv_com allow dvr1_cache_it_best_tv_com cache_peer_access Proxy_squid1_it_best_tv_com allow squid1_it_best_tv_com cache_peer_access Proxy_squid1_it_best_tv_com allow squid2_it_best_tv_com cache_peer_access Proxy_squid1_it_best_tv_com allow dvr1_cache_it_best_tv_com cache_peer_access Proxy_squid2_it_best_tv_com allow squid1_it_best_tv_com cache_peer_access Proxy_squid2_it_best_tv_com allow squid2_it_best_tv_com cache_peer_access Proxy_squid2_it_best_tv_com allow dvr1_cache_it_best_tv_com just to make it clear - dvr1.cache is the alias for the proxy servers. dvr1.origin is the web server. Both servers work, both serve content and cache it and work fine. However, when I clear the cache on one server and then access it, it gets the content from the parent (DVR1_ORIGIN) instead of going to the sibling squid. What did I configure wrong? Or perhaps I don't understand the architecture correctly? I read the squid manuals but as far as I see i did it all by the book and yet it doesn't work right. Any help will be appreciated!

  • Using the contents of an array to set individual pixels in a Quartz bitmap context

    - by Magic Bullet Dave
    I have an array that contains the RGB colour values for each pixel in a 320 x 180 display. I would like to be able to set individual pixel values in the a bitmap context of the same size offscreen then display the bitmap context in a view. It appears that I have to create 1x1 rects and either put a stroke on them or a line of length 1 at the point in question. Is that correct? I'm looking for a very efficient way of getting the array data onto the graphics context as you can imagine this is going to be an image buffer that cycles at 25 frames per second and drawing in this way seems inefficient. I guess the other question is should I use OPENGL ES instead? Thoughts/best practice would be much appreciated. Regards Dave OK, have come a short way, but can't make the final hurdle and I am not sure why this isn't working: - (void) displayContentsOfArray1UsingBitmap: (CGContextRef)context { long bitmapData[WIDTH * HEIGHT]; // Build bitmap int i, j, h; for (i = 0; i < WIDTH; i++) { for (j = 0; j < HEIGHT; j++) { h = frameBuffer01[i][j]; bitmapData[i * j] = h; } } // Blit the bitmap to the context CGDataProviderRef providerRef = CGDataProviderCreateWithData(NULL, bitmapData,4 * WIDTH * HEIGHT, NULL); CGColorSpaceRef colorSpaceRef = CGColorSpaceCreateDeviceRGB(); CGImageRef imageRef = CGImageCreate(WIDTH, HEIGHT, 8, 32, WIDTH * 4, colorSpaceRef, kCGImageAlphaFirst, providerRef, NULL, YES, kCGRenderingIntentDefault); CGContextDrawImage(context, CGRectMake(0.0, HEIGHT, WIDTH, HEIGHT), imageRef); CGImageRelease(imageRef); CGColorSpaceRelease(colorSpaceRef); CGDataProviderRelease(providerRef); }

  • One hour difference in Python

    - by Joel
    Hello, I have a datetime.datetime property var. I would like to know if it is less than one hour of the current time. Something like var.hour<datetime.datetime.today().hour - 1 Problem with the above syntax is that datetime.datetime.today().hour returns a number such as "10" and it is not really a date comparation but more of a numbers comparation. What is the correct syntax? Thanks! Joel

  • Difference between these two namespaces in javascript

    - by Lol coder
    First off, all I'm trying to do is to structure my javascript code properly. I've been told I must not have anything global. So I took the 2 types of namespaces declaration from this answer and now asking you guys for the pros and cons of each. var namespace1 = new function () { var internalFunction = function () { }; this.publicFunction = function () { }; }; var namespace2 = { publicFunction: function () { } }; Also, how do i have a private function in the last one namespace2?

  • Using file() incrementally?

    - by NeedBeerStat
    I'm not sure if this is possible, I've been googling for a solution... But, essentially, I have a very large file, the lines of which I want to store in an array. Thus, I'm using file(), but is there a way to do that in batches? So that every,say, 100 lines it creates, it "pauses"? I think there's likely to be something I can do with a foreach loop or something, but I'm not sure that I'm thinking about it the right way... Like $i=0; $j=0; $throttle=100; foreach($files as $k => $v) { if($i < $j+$throttle && $i > $j) { $lines[] = file($v); //Do some other stuff, like importing into a db } $i++; $j++; } But, I think that won't really work because $i & $j will always be equal... Anyway, feeling muddled... Can someone help me think a lil' clearer?

  • Java: Combine 2 List <String[]>

    - by battousai622
    I have two List of array string. I want to be able to create a New List (newList) by combining the 2 lists. But it must meet these 3 conditions: 1) Copy the contents of store_inventory into newList. 2) Then if the item names in store_inventory & new_acquisitions match, just add the two quantities together and change it in newList. 3) If new_acquisitions has a new item that does not exist in store_inventory, then add it to the newList. The titles for the CSV list are: Item Name, Quantity, Cost, Price. The List contains an string[] of item name, quantity, cost and price for each row. CSVReader from = new CSVReader(new FileReader("/test/new_acquisitions.csv")); List <String[]> acquisitions = from.readAll(); CSVReader to = new CSVReader(new FileReader("/test/store_inventory.csv")); List <String[]> inventory = to.readAll(); List <String[]> newList; Any code to get me started would be great! =] this is what i have so far... for (int i = 0; i < acquisitions.size(); i++) { temp1 = acquisitions.get(i); for (int j = 1; j < inventory.size(); j++) { temp2 = inventory.get(j); if (temp1[0].equals(temp2[0])) { //if match found... do something? //break out of loop } } //if new item found... do something? }

  • checking and replacing a value in an array jquery

    - by liz
    i have a table of data: <table id="disparities" class="datatable"> <thead> <tr> <th scope="col">Events</th> <th scope="col">White</th> <th scope="col">Black</th> <th scope="col">Hispanic</th><th scope="col">Asian/Pacific Islands</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr> <th scope="row">Hospitalizations</th> <td>0.00</td> <td>20</td> <td>10</td> <td>5</td> </tr> <tr> <th scope="row">ED Visits</th> <td>19</td> <td>90</td> <td>40</td> <td>18</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> i have a function that retrieves the values from the above table into an array like so (0.00,19) var points1 = $('#disparities td:nth-child(2)').map(function() { return $(this).text().match(/\S+/)[0]; }).get(); i want to check if there is a 0.00 value (or it could be just 0) and change that value to NA... so my resulting array is then (NA,19) not really sure how to go about this, whether in the initial match or as a separate action...

  • Is there a difference here?

    - by HotHead
    Please consider following code: 1. uint16 a = 0x0001; if(a < 0x0002) { // do something } 2. uint16 a = 0x0001; if(a < uint16(0x0002)) { // do something } 3. uint16 a = 0x0001; if(a < static_cast<uint16>(0x0002)) { // do something } 4. uint16 a = 0x0001; uint16 b = 0x0002; if(a < b) { // do something } What compiler does in backgorund and what is the best (and correct) way to do above testing? p.s. sorry, but I couldn't find the better title :) Thank you in advance!

  • Major performance difference between two Oracle database instances

    - by jrdioko
    I am working with two instances of an Oracle database, call them one and two. two is running on better hardware (hard disk, memory, CPU) than one, and two is one minor version behind one in terms of Oracle version (both are 11g). Both have the exact same table table_name with exactly the same indexes defined. I load 500,000 identical rows into table_name on both instances. I then run, on both instances: delete from table_name; This command takes 30 seconds to complete on one and 40 minutes to complete on two. Doing INSERTs and UPDATEs on the two tables has similar performance differences. Does anyone have any suggestions on what could have such a drastic impact on performance between the two databases?

  • Trying to work with a multi-value array in LotusScript and sort of stuck

    - by rrumaner
    I have to find a way to store a series of variables - MonthYear (the key) and a counter. The purpose of this is to track the number of documents processed by Month & Year. I was thinking of a list but I am not sure how to save the data so that it is readable and able to be shown in a table at a later date. I thought about using a multi-dimensional array - someArray(1,0 to 1) and ReDim'ing it each time I start a new MonthYear and then save it back to a field on the document but am not sure how that is going to play out. Does anyone have an idea of how I can accomplish this? The first dimension will be the MonthYear (key) and the second will be a counter that is updated every time a new document is processed. The key will be based on a field on the document being processed. How can I make sure I am updating the right key/counter combination? How can I retrieve the existing counter from the field on the document, update the counter and then replace the value? I thought about just adding a new element (ReDim) every time a document is processed and than somehow adding up all the counters for each key and storing that in an array, but that just seems real messy. There has to be a good way to do this. Any and all ideas will be greatly appreciated

  • What's the difference between these LINQ queries ?

    - by SnAzBaZ
    I use LINQ-SQL as my DAL, I then have a project called DB which acts as my BLL. Various applications then access the BLL to read / write data from the SQL Database. I have these methods in my BLL for one particular table: public IEnumerable<SystemSalesTaxList> Get_SystemSalesTaxList() { return from s in db.SystemSalesTaxLists select s; } public SystemSalesTaxList Get_SystemSalesTaxList(string strSalesTaxID) { return Get_SystemSalesTaxList().Where(s => s.SalesTaxID == strSalesTaxID).FirstOrDefault(); } public SystemSalesTaxList Get_SystemSalesTaxListByZipCode(string strZipCode) { return Get_SystemSalesTaxList().Where(s => s.ZipCode == strZipCode).FirstOrDefault(); } All pretty straight forward I thought. Get_SystemSalesTaxListByZipCode is always returning a null value though, even when it has a ZIP Code that exists in that table. If I write the method like this, it returns the row I want: public SystemSalesTaxList Get_SystemSalesTaxListByZipCode(string strZipCode) { var salesTax = from s in db.SystemSalesTaxLists where s.ZipCode == strZipCode select s; return salesTax.FirstOrDefault(); } Why does the other method not return the same, as the query should be identical ? Note that, the overloaded Get_SystemSalesTaxList(string strSalesTaxID) returns a record just fine when I give it a valid SalesTaxID. Is there a more efficient way to write these "helper" type classes ? Thanks!
