• Why does my excel document have 960,000 empty rows?

  I have an excel document, Office 2007, on a Windows 7 machine (if that part matters any, I'm not sure but just throwing it out there). It is a list of all employee phone numbers. If I need to generate a new page, I can click on page 2 and the table will automatically generate again. The problem is, someone messed it up since it's on a network drive and now shows I have over 960,000 rows of data, when I really don't! I did CTRL+END to see if any data was in the last cell, so I cleared it out, deleted that row and column, but still didn't fix it. It almost seems like it duplicates itself after the deletion. How can I fix this instead of recreating the entire document?

• What is the proper way to set up the Apache document root in terms of privileges?

  I have just installed Ubuntu 9.10 server edition on my machine and I wish to run my own personal local server with other users in the same LAN. First, I was wondering what folder directory structure is best for the web root? Should I just use: /var/www/ and start throwing web documents there or should I create a folder elsewhere (maybe the home directory)? Second, in the /var/www/ directory only the root user can create documents in there, however, I wish to have other users be able to create files in the document root and upload them via FTP. Should I change the permissions or the www/ folder? Or again, should I create the document root elsewhere with different permissions? What is the safest way of doing this?

  Is there a possibility to search when the embedded txt file was created in the word document? I'm working in Word 2010 and the extension of the document is simple: .doc It was inserted using the Word options: Insert -> Object -> Create from file -> Insert as icon Thank you, I already tried the right click and properties option, but the problem with it, that it shows only the current date for all of the 3 options (created/modified/accessed). Building Setup the library with automatic versioning and a nuspec Setup library assembly version to auto increment build and revision AssemblyInfo –> [assembly: AssemblyVersion("1.0.*")] This autoincrements build and revision based on time of build Major & Minor Major should be changed when you have breaking changes Minor should be changed once you have a solid new release During development I don’t increment these Create a nuspec, version this with the code nuspec - set version to <version>$version$</version> This uses the assembly’s version, which is auto-incrementing Make changes to code Run automated build (ruby/rake) run “rake nuget” nuget task builds nuget package and copies it to a local nuget feed I use an environment variable to point at this so I can change it on a machine level! • Ruby XMLRPC::CLIENT issue under Rails 2.3.5 with Ruby 1.8.6

  I'm trying to implement a ping to an xmlrpc server written in PHP under CodeIgniter. The system currently works as expected when receiving pings from WordPress-based blogs, but I'm unable to generate a successful ping from Rails.   Hi, I am updating Documents on Sharepoint using List.asmx web service. But problem i am facing is: Fields are not getting Updated as some of required fields are not added. But to fill required fields i have to again Update. "ID" field is compulsary at the time of Update. Which we get only after uploading Document.( we get this id by "ows_id" attriute value) Edit : As said by "Janis Veinbergs" We can't get this ID untill document is actualy saved. So how will i update document as ID field is must for Update. If i don't Put ID Field : Error : 0x8102000aInvalid URL Parameter The URL provided contains an invalid Command or Value. Please check the URL again. If i put Null Value to it: Error :0x81020016Item does not exist The page you selected contains an item that does not exist. It may have been deleted by another user. • How do I dynamically create a document for download in Javascript?

  I'm writing some Javascript code that generates an XML document in the client (via Google Earth plugin). I'd like the user to be able to click a button on the page and be prompted to save that XML to a new file. If I were generating the XML server-side this would be easy, just make the button open the link. But the XML is generated client-side. I've come up with a couple of hacks that half-work, inspired in part by this StackOverflow question. But neither completely work. Neither version ever prompts a user download, it always opens a new window trying to display the XML. Is there a good way to do what I want in client side Javascript? I'd like this to work in today's browsers, ideally Firefox, MSIE 8, and Chrome.

  I am building a project in Visual C++ 2008, which is an example MFC-based app for a static C++ class library I will be using in my own project soon. While building the Debug configuration, I get the following: warning LNK4098: defaultlib 'MSVCRT' conflicts with use of other libs; use /NODEFAULTLIB:library After using the recommended option (by adding "msvcrt" to the "Ignore specific library" field in the project linker settings for the Debug configuration), the program links and runs fine. However, I'd like to find out why this conflict occured, why do I have to ignore a critical library, and if I'm to expect problems later I if add the ignore, or what happens if I don't (because the program builds anyway). At the same time, the Release configuration warns: warning LNK4075: ignoring '/EDITANDCONTINUE' due to '/OPT:ICF' specification warning LNK4098: defaultlib 'MSVCRTD' conflicts with use of other libs; use /NODEFAULTLIB:library I'm guessing that the "D" suffix means this is the debug version of the vc++ runtime, no idea why this gets used this time. Anyway, adding "msvcrtd" to the ignore field causes lots of link errors of the form: error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol imp_CrtDbgReportW Any insight greatly appreciated.

This library should support the CBC cipher mode and use PKCS7 padding according to the answer to an earlier question of mine. The library should at least work on Mac OS X (10.4) and Windows XP.   First, a caveat. The main script is not run in a webpage. I will be running the .js file in Windows using Windows Script Host. The problem: I would like to create a javascript "library" containing a number of objects, each with a number of functions. I expect this library will get rather large with time and would like to keep it in a separate javascript file (let's call it Library.js). I would like to access the objects from Library.js from another script (let's call this one User.js). In essence, I am looking for something similar to the C/C++ "include" paradigm. Is there anyway to implement this in javascript? (Remember, this is not web-based)

• Trying to modify the text of a document onkeydown is inserting text incorrectly.

If I type here things go wrong... </div> </body> </html> My goal is to do a kind of syntax highlighting on edit, to highlight variable names that begin with an @ symbol. However, when I edit the document's body, the function runs but the cursor is automatically shifted to the beginning of the body before the keystroke is performed. My hypothesis is that the keypress event is trying to insert the new character at a specified index, but when I run the replace function the indices get messed up so it defaults the character insertion point to the beginning. I'm using Firefox to test by the way. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, B.J.

  Hello, I have a framework that uses Boost and CgiCC in the core application and in its interface. How should I version the library binary interface (a.k.a. libtool -version-info)? I have no problems tracking the changes in library itself when I make various changes. As it is clear for me how should I version. But... Both Boost and CgiCC libraries do not provide any backward compatible API/ABI and my library may be linked with quite arbitrary versions Boost and CgiCC so I can't provide any promise about the interfaces, so I can't really specify -version-info because even the same library compiled against different versions of Boost and CgiCC would not be compatible. So... What should I do? How should I version library? I know that I should not depend on Boost and CgiCC interfaces in first place, but this is what I get so far for existing stable version. This issue is addressed in next major release but I still have and want to maintain current release as it is very valuable.

The best library I can find for this is CGAL, but this is the sort of project I would hesitate to make without garbage collection. What language/library pairs can you recommend? So far my best bet is importing CGAL into D. There is also a project for making Python bindings for CGAL, but it's very incomplete.

• How to handle authenticated user access to resources in document oriented system?

  I'm developing a document oriented application and need to manage user access to the documents. I have a module that handles user authentication, and another module that handles document CRUD operations on the data store. Once a user is authenticated I need to enforce what operations the user can and cannot perform to documents based upon the user's permissions. The best option I could think of to integrate these two pieces together would be to create another module that duplicates the data API but that also takes the authenticated user as a parameter. The module would delegate the authorization check to the auth module and delegate the document operation to the data access module. Something like: -module(auth_data_access). % User is authenticated (logged into the system) % save_doc validates if user is allowed to save the given document and if so % saves it returning ok, else returns {error, permission_denied} save_doc(Doc, User) -> case auth:save_allowed(Doc, User) of ok -> data_access:save_doc(Doc); denied -> {error, permission_denied} end end. Is there a better way I can handle this?

  I am writing a command line tool to convert Markdown text to html output, which seems easy enough. However, I am wondering how to get nice syntax coloring for embedded code blocks, like the one used by Stack Overflow. Does anyone know either: What library StackOverflow is using or if there's a library out there that I can easily reuse? Basically it would need to have some of the same "intelligence" found in the one that Stack Overflow uses, by basically doing a best-attempt at figuring out the language in use to pick the right keywords. Basically, what I want is for my own program to handle a block like the following: if (a == 0) return true; if (a == 1) return false; // fall-back Markdown Sharp, the library I'm using, by default outputs the above as a simple pre/code html block, with no syntax coloring. I'd like the same type of handling as the formatting on Stack Overflow does, the above contains blue "return" keywords for example. Or, hmm, after checking the source of this Stack Overflow page after adding the code example, I notice that it too is formatted like a simple pre/code block. Is it pure javascript-magic at works here, so perhaps there's no such library? If there's no library that will automagically determine a possible language by the keywords used, is there one that would work if I explicitly told it the language? Since this is "my" markdown-commandline-tool, I can easily add syntax if I need to.

On the Windows platform, this would be done using a module definition (.def) file which would contain a list of the external and internal names of the functions exported from the library. I have the following questions: How can I restrict the exported functions of a shared library to those I want (i.e. a .def file equivalent) Using .def files as an example, you can give a function an external name that is different from its internal name (useful for prevent name collisions and also redecorating mangled names etc) On windows I can use the EXPORT command (IIRC) to check the list of exported functions and addresses, what is the equivalent way to do this on Linux?

  I'm working on an internet application that has been set up as a web SITE project (I know...) in Visual Studio. I need to add additional features/functionality so have added a class library to the project and referred to it in the main web site project. The issue now arises because I need to make use of core objects which live inside the App_Code directory in the web site project but this project doesn't appear to expose its DLL like web app/ code library projects do. Because of this I can't add a reference to the web site project in the class library to leverage the common site-wide code/objects. I can't move the stuff out of App_Code so I'm looking for a way to refer to the website project dll from the new class library. Can anyone suggest a workaround? All help v. gratefully received :-)

• How to add files to a document library in a site definition in SharePoint 2007?

  Hi all, I'm doing a site definition for SharePoint 2007. When the site is created, a document library called "Folder2" is created also. Now, I need to add some documents to this document library and appear as items in the document library standard views. My code is: <Lists> <List FeatureId="00bfea71-e717-4e80-aa17-d0c71b360101" Type="101" Title="Folder2" Url="Folder2"> <Data> <Rows> <Row> <Field Name="Name">MyFile.txt</Field> <Field Name="Title">MyFile.txt</Field> <Field Name="FileLeafRef">MyFile.txt</Field> </Row> </Rows> </Data> </List> </Lists> When I see the items of the Document Library there is one element with title "1_". Does anybody know how to add files in a site definition? The onet.xml I used is the same as blank site. Thanks!!!

• Convert C function to Objective C or alternative way to include C library?

  Background: I'm new to Objective-C and I've never touched C before. I'm trying to include a C library in my iPhone/iPod Touch project and I could not successfully compile the library's source code using the included instructions, so I've resorted to including the .h and .c files in Xcode. The library is for Hebrew Dates and corresponding Jewish Holidays. It can be found here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/libhdate/ I cannot seem to import the .c files into my implementation files. I can import the .h files though. When I try to use #import "file.c", where file.c is a file that is in XCode, it doesn't work. Why not? I've considered just writing the functions over in Objective-C, albeit only my needed functions and not the whole library. How can I make the following C function work in Objective-C? Are there other things that need to be included/re-coded/compiled? How so? I am almost certain something is missing, but I'm not sure what. Code: int hdate_get_omer_day(hdate_struct const * h) { int omer_day; hdate_struct sixteen_nissan; hdate_set_hdate(&sixteen_nissan, 16, 7, h->hd_year); omer_day = h->hd_jd - sixteen_nissan.hd_jd + 1; if ((omer_day > 49) || (omer_day < 0)) omer_day = 0; return omer_day; } So... should I be converting it, or trying somehow to compile to an appropriate format and how so?
