• Maven/Spring/Java: ClassNotFoundException - but I know class is there...

  I have 2 maven projects set up like this: -com.wuntee.rsaAuthenticationManager (jar) -com.wuntee.taac (pom) --taac-backend-gui (jar) --taac-web (war) And 'com.wuntee.rsaAuthenticationManager' is a dep in 'taac-backend-gui'. When running a test case in taac-backend-gui, everything executes fine, but when trying to start the taac-web, I get the following ClassNotFoundException - the library that contains the class 'weblogic.security.SSL.TrustManager' is also in my local maven repository, and set as a dependency of com.wuntee.rsaAuthenticationManager. Does anyone know why I would be getting this error? I have also attempted to directly add the library containing TrustManager to the taac-web project, and still get the same Exception. Any ideas? • Why won't my DIV height grow? Is it because I am using floats?

  Please help! I am trying to create some div sections and some of these div sections have some other divs that are floated. All of which I have cleared. But the sections are not growing to accomodate the content inside of them. Both of these are floated left and cleared. The rows of the left and right table have a field and value which are also floated left and right and cleared. At this point, I expect "first section" to grow as the content inside of it grows. But instead the height is stuck at 22px, the same height as the section title! What is going on? I tried overflow:auto for div.section and that worked. But when I tried to set this style for div.settings in "first section": div.data div.first div.settings { position: relative; top: 1em; } I end up with these scroll bars, instead of the height growing to fit the new changes. And everything was out of whack. I am really at my wit's end trying to figure this out. If anyone can give me any suggestions on what I am doing wrong, it would be a great help. Thanks.

Or any other Jquery doesn't seem to work as its in any of the tabs DIVs. Any ideas?

  Hi everyone, I've been spending hours now reading up on IE7's issue with rendering Flash content on top of other elements, particularly navigation menus (this is often a problem with dropdown menus and Flash ad banners, for example). My understanding of previous solutions was that the combination of the param changes and the positioning/z-index change on the container div should have resolved the issue. Alas, it is not so. The player resides on top of the footpanel. Other information that may or may not be helpful is that the page is XHTML 1.0 Transitional and that Dreamweaver reports 1 error in the HTML code: <embed> is not in the XHTML 1.0 specification.   I am working with Qt's QWebView, and have been finding lots of great uses for adding to the webkit window object. One thing I would like to do is nested objects... for instance: in Javascript I can... var api = new Object; api.os = new Object; api.os.foo = function(){} api.window = new Object(); api.window.bar = function(){} obviously in most cases this would be done through a more OO js-framework.   I'm Trying to migrate from spring framework 3.0.5 to 3.1 and spring-security 3.0.5 to 3.1 (not to mention hibernate 3.6 to 4.1). Using Apache IVY. • Python/numpy tricky slicing problem

  Hi stack overflow, I have a problem with some numpy stuff. I need a numpy array to behave in an unusual manner by returning a slice as a view of the data I have sliced, not a copy. So heres an example of what I want to do: Say we have a simple array like this: a = array([1, 0, 0, 0]) I would like to update consecutive entries in the array (moving left to right) with the previous entry from the array, using syntax like this: a[1:] = a[0:3] This would get the following result: a = array([1, 1, 1, 1]) Or something like this: a[1:] = 2*a[:3] # a = [1,2,4,8] To illustrate further I want the following kind of behaviour: for i in range(len(a)): if i == 0 or i+1 == len(a): continue a[i+1] = a[i] Except I want the speed of numpy. The default behavior of numpy is to take a copy of the slice, so what I actually get is this: a = array([1, 1, 0, 0]) I already have this array as a subclass of the ndarray, so I can make further changes to it if need be, I just need the slice on the right hand side to be continually updated as it updates the slice on the left hand side. Am I dreaming or is this magic possible? Update: This is all because I am trying to use Gauss-Seidel iteration to solve a linear algebra problem, more or less. It is a special case involving harmonic functions, I was trying to avoid going into this because its really not necessary and likely to confuse things further, but here goes. The algorithm is this: while not converged: for i in range(len(u[:,0])): for j in range(len(u[0,:])): # skip over boundary entries, i,j == 0 or len(u) u[i,j] = 0.25*(u[i-1,j] + u[i+1,j] + u[i, j-1] + u[i,j+1]) Right? But you can do this two ways, Jacobi involves updating each element with its neighbours without considering updates you have already made until the while loop cycles, to do it in loops you would copy the array then update one array from the copied array. However Gauss-Seidel uses information you have already updated for each of the i-1 and j-1 entries, thus no need for a copy, the loop should essentially 'know' since the array has been re-evaluated after each single element update. That is to say, every time we call up an entry like u[i-1,j] or u[i,j-1] the information calculated in the previous loop will be there. I want to replace this slow and ugly nested loop situation with one nice clean line of code using numpy slicing: u[1:-1,1:-1] = 0.25(u[:-2,1:-1] + u[2:,1:-1] + u[1:-1,:-2] + u[1:-1,2:]) But the result is Jacobi iteration because when you take a slice: u[:,-2,1:-1] you copy the data, thus the slice is not aware of any updates made. Now numpy still loops right? Its not parallel its just a faster way to loop that looks like a parallel operation in python. I want to exploit this behaviour by sort of hacking numpy to return a pointer instead of a copy when I take a slice. Right? Then every time numpy loops, that slice will 'update' or really just replicate whatever happened in the update. To do this I need slices on both sides of the array to be pointers. Anyway if there is some really really clever person out there that awesome, but I've pretty much resigned myself to believing the only answer is to loop in C.

  I have a very simple MVC site that is returning a 404 not found error when trying to load a page at the very beginning. I'm looking for some direction to troubleshoot this problem since there is really nothing to go on from the error message. The error I'm getting is: Description: HTTP 404.   Hello I want to run some tests from HPCC, STREAM and GUPS. They will test memory bandwidth, latency, and throughput (in term of random accesses). Can I start Single CPU test STREAM or Single CPU GUPS on NUMA node with memory interleaving enabled? (Is it allowed by the rules of HPCC - High Performance Computing Challenge?) Usage of non-local memory can increase GUPS results, because it will increase 2- or 4- fold the number of memory banks, available for random accesses. (GUPS typically limited by nonideal memory-subsystem and by slow memory bank opening/closing. With more banks it can do update to one bank, while the other banks are opening/closing.) Thanks. • How to create a HTML5 + SVG document using the PHP XSLTProcessor

  For a little project about XML I try to use HTML5 as it has SVG and WAI-ARIA Support. I also want to use a XSL stylesheet for my document. But I can't get a valid HTML5 document with a nested SVG. Can anyone tell me how to avoid the meta tag to be inserted or how to set a propper Content-Type that will make the browser rendern the SVG. Or even any other hint to get this working. I would really like to keep HTML5 to be able to keep the WAI-ARIA Landmark Roles an the HTML5 tags like NAV and FOOTER.

• How to occupy all the space in a div when working with min-height header / footer

  I believe this is a beginner's CSS question. I am utilizing the method described in http://www.xs4all.nl/~peterned/examples/csslayout1.html to fix a header to the top and a footer to the bottom. What I'd like to achieve now is two columns inside the content div. A left one of 200px and a right one that takes up the rest of the width. Unfortunately, I can't get the left and right divs to display correctly: they just don't grow vertically, and if I make the right div "width: 100%" it positions itself underneath the left one. What is the trick to make the left and right div take up all the space within the content div? The layout1.css is the original one. • Using RJS to replace innerHTML with a real live instance variable.

  I can't for the life of me get RJS to replace an element's innerHTML with an instance variable's attribute, i.e. something like @thing.name I'll show all the code (simplified from the actual project, but still complete), and I hope the solution will be forehead-slap obvious to someone... In RoR, I've made a simple page displaying a random Chinese character. This is a Word object with attributes chinese and english. Clicking on a link titled "What is this?" reveals the english attribute using RJS. Currently, it also hides the "What is this?" link and reveals a "Try Another?" link that just reloads the page, effectively starting over with a new random character. This is fine, but there are other elements on the page that make their own database queries, so I would like to load a new random character by an AJAX call, leaving the rest of the page alone. This has turned out to be harder than I expected: I have no trouble replacing the html using link_remote_to and page.replace_html, but I can't get it to display anything that includes an instance variable. I have a Word resource and a Page resource, which has a home page, where all this fun takes place. In the PagesController, I've made a couple ways to get random words. Either one works fine... Then, in the home page view, I'll replace the "try another?" link (previously pointing to the root_path), with this: = link_to_remote "try another?", :url => { :controller => 'words', :action => 'second_character' }, :html => { :title => "Click for a new character." } I'll make that new RJS template, at app/views/words/second_character.rjs, and a simple test like this shows that it's working: page.replace_html("character", "hi") But if I change it to this: page.replace_html("character", "#{@random_second.english}") I get an error saying I fed it a nil object: ActionView::TemplateError (undefined method `english_name' for nil:NilClass) on line #1 of app/views/words/second_character.rjs: 1: page.replace_html("character", "#{@random_second.english}") Of course, actually instantiating @random_second, @random_third and so on ad infinitum would be ridiculous in a real app (I would eventually figure out some better way to keep grabbing a new random record without reloading the page), but the point is that I don't know how to get any instance variable to work here. This is not even approaching my ideal solution of rendering a partial that includes the object I specify, like this: page.replace_html 'character', :partial => 'new_character', :object => @random_second As I can't get an instance variable to work directly, I obviously cannot get it to work via a partial. I have tried various things like: :object => @random_second or :locals => { :random_second => @random_second } I've tried adding these all over the place -- in the link_to_remote options most obviously -- and studying what gets passed in the parameters, but to no avail. It's at this point that I realize I don't know what I'm doing. This is my first question here. I erred on the side of providing all necessary code, rather than being brief. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I'm looking over the documentation that comes with Apache Ant version 1.8.0 and can't find where classpath, path and pathelement are documented. I've found a page that describes path like structures but it doesn't list the valid attributes or nested elements for these. Another thing I can't find in the documentation is a description of the relationships between filelist, fileset, patternset and path and how to convert them back and forth.   Hi, I'm having a fundamental issue with use of drawRect: Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The application needs to draw a variety of .png images at different times, sometimes with animation, sometimes without. A design goal that I was hoping to adhere to is to have the code inside drawRect: very simple and "dumb" - i.e. just do drawing and no other application logic. To draw the image I am using the drawAtPoint: method of UIImage. Since this method does not take a CGContext as a parameter, it can only be called within the drawRect: method. So I have: - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { [firstImage drawAtPoint:CGPointMake(firstOffsetX, firstOffsetY)]; } All fine and dandy for one image. To draw multiple images (over time) the approach I have taken is to maintain an array of dictionaries with each dictionary containing an image, the point location to draw at and a flag to enable/suppress drawing for that image. I add dictionaries to the array over time and trigger drawing via the setNeedsDisplay: method of UIView. Use of an array of dictionaries allows me to completely reconstruct the entire display at any time. drawRect: now becomes: - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { for (NSMutableDictionary *imageDict in [self imageDisplayList]) { if ([[imageDict objectForKey:@"needsDisplay"] boolValue]) { [[imageDict objectForKey:@"image"] drawAtPoint:[[imageDict objectForKey:@"location"] CGPointValue]]; [imageDict setValue:[NSNumber numberWithBool:NO] forKey:@"needsDisplay"]; } } } Still OK. More specifically: drawRect: starts to bloat quickly and contain code that is not "just drawing" code the UIView needs implicit awareness of the application state the overall process of drawing is now spread across three methods at a minimum And on to the point of this post: how can I do this better? What would the experts out there recommend in terms of overall structure? How can I keep application state information out of the view? Am I looking at this problem from the wrong direction. Is there some completely different approach that I should consider?

  I have a structure with a template parameter, Stream. Within that structure, there is a function with its own template parameter, Type. If I try to force a specific instance of the function to be generated and called, it works fine, if I am in a context where the exact type of the structure is known. If not, I get a compile error. This feels like a situation where I'm missing a typename, but there are no nested types. I suspect I'm missing something fundamental, but I've been staring at this code for so long all I see are redheads, and frankly writing code that uses templates has never been my forte. • jQuery returning two elements for each one it finds?

  I'll start by saying I'm fairly new to jQuery. For the most part, I've found it intuitive and powerful, but this one circumstance has me thoroughly stumped. In the following method, the call to .each() returns two elements for every one found. It iterates over a set of table rows given IDs starting with the word, "communication," and followed by an ID number. For each row it returns, it processes twice. Using Firebug, I've validated that the DOM only has a single instance of each table row in question. Also using Firebug, I've validated that the method is not being called twice; the iteration in .each() is truly going over each returned table row twice. By the time all the AJAX call goodness is done, I'll have two entries in the database for each row created in the table. Choice of language Considering all the known requirements and details, I concluded that a library written in C or C++ was the way to go. I think the primary usage of my library will be in programs written in C, C++ and Java SE, but I can also think of reasons to use it from Java ME, PHP, .NET, Objective C, Python, Ruby, bash scrips, etc... Maybe I cannot target all of them, but if it's possible, I'll do it. Requirements It would be to much to describe the full purpose of my library here, but there are some aspects that might be important to this question: The library itself will start out small, but definitely will grow to enormous complexity, so it is not an option to maintain several versions in parallel. Most of the complexity will be hidden inside the library, though The library will construct an object graph that is used heavily inside. Some clients of the library will only be interested in specific attributes of specific objects, while other clients must traverse the object graph in some way Clients may change the objects, and the library must be notified thereof The library may change the objects, and the client must be notified thereof, if it already has a handle to that object The library must be multi-threaded, because it will maintain network connections to several other hosts While some requests to the library may be handled synchronously, many of them will take too long and must be processed in the background, and notify the client on success (or failure) Of course, answers are welcome no matter if they address my specific requirements, or if they answer the question in a general way that matters to a wider audience! My assumptions, so far So here are some of my assumptions and conclusions, which I gathered in the past months: Internally I can use whatever I want, e.g. C++ with operator overloading, multiple inheritance, template meta programming... as long as there is a portable compiler which handles it (think of gcc / g++) But my interface has to be a clean C interface that does not involve name mangling Also, I think my interface should only consist of functions, with basic/primitive data types (and maybe pointers) passed as parameters and return values If I use pointers, I think I should only use them to pass them back to the library, not to operate directly on the referenced memory For usage in a C++ application, I might also offer an object oriented interface (Which is also prone to name mangling, so the App must either use the same compiler, or include the library in source form) Is this also true for usage in C# ? For usage in Java SE / Java EE, the Java native interface (JNI) applies. I have some basic knowledge about it, but I should definitely double check it. Not all client languages handle multithreading well, so there should be a single thread talking to the client For usage on Java ME, there is no such thing as JNI, but I might go with Nested VM For usage in Bash scripts, there must be an executable with a command line interface For the other client languages, I have no idea For most client languages, it would be nice to have kind of an adapter interface written in that language. I think there are tools to automatically generate this for Java and some others For object oriented languages, it might be possible to create an object oriented adapter which hides the fact that the interface to the library is function based - but I don't know if its worth the effort Possible subquestions is this possible with manageable effort, or is it just too much portability? are there any good books / websites about this kind of design criteria? are any of my assumptions wrong? which open source libraries are worth studying to learn from their design / interface / souce? meta: This question is rather long, do you see any way to split it into several smaller ones? • Best way to get back to using the power of lxml after having to use a regex to find something in an

  I am trying to rip some text out of a large number of html documents (numbers in the hundreds of thousands). The documents are really forms but they are prepared by a very large group of different organizations so there is significant variation in how they create the document. For example, the documents are divided into chapters. I might want to extract the contents of Chapter 5 from every document so I can analyze the content of the chapter. Initially I thought this would be easy but it turns out that the authors might use a set of non-nested tables throughout the document to hold the content so that Chapter n could be displayed using td tags inside a table. Or they might use other elements such as p tags H tags, div tags or any other block level element. After trying repeatedly to use lxml to help me identify the beginning and end of each chapter I have determined that it is a lot cleaner to use a regular expression because in every case, no matter what the enclosing html element is the chapter label is always in the form of >Chapter # It is a little more complicated in that there might be some white space or non-breaking space represented in different ways (  or   or just spaces). Nonetheless it was trivial to write a regular expression to identify the beginning of each section. (The beginning of one section is the end of the previous section.) But now I want to use lxml to get the text out. My thought is that I have really no choice but to walk along my string to find the close tag for the element that encloses the text I am using to find the relevant section. That is here is one example where the element holding the Chapter name is a div <div style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN-LEFT: 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 0pt; MARGIN-RIGHT: 0pt" align="left"><font style="DISPLAY: inline; FONT-WEIGHT: bold; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Times New Roman">Chapter 1.&#160;&#160;&#160;Our Beginnings.</font></div> So I am imagining that I would begin at the location where I found the match for chapter 1 and set up a regular expressions to find the next </div|</td|</p|</h1 . . . So at this point I have identified the type of element holding my chapter heading I can use the same logic to find all of the text that is within that element that is set up a regular expression to help me mark from >Chapter 1.&#160;&#160;&#160;Our Beginnings.< So I have identified where my Chapter 1 begins I can do the same for chapter 2 (which is where Chapter 1 ends) Now I am imagining that I am going to snip the document beginning at the opening of the element that I identified as the element the indicates where chapter 1 begins and ending just before the opening of the element that I identified as the element that indicates where Chapter 2 begins. The string that I have identified will then be fed to lxml to use its power to get the content. I am going to all of this trouble because I have read over and over - never use a regular expression to extract content from html documents and I have not hit on a way to be as accurate with lxml to identify the starting and ending locations for the text I want to extract. For example, I can never be certain that the subtitle of Chapter 1 is Our Beginnings it could be Our Red Canary. Let me say that I spent two solid days trying with lxml to be confident that I had the beginning and ending elements and I could only be accurate <60% of the time but a very short regular expression has given me better than 95% success. I have a tendency to make things more complicated than necessary so I am wondering if anyone has seen or solved a similar problems and if they had an approach (not the details mind you) that they would like to offer.

• MVC SiteMap - when different nodes point to same action SiteMap.CurrentNode does not map to the correct route

  Setup: I am using ASP.NET MVC 4, with mvcSiteMapProvider to manage my menus. I have a custom menu builder that evaluates whether a node is on the current branch (ie, if the SiteMap.CurrentNode is either the CurrentNode or the CurrentNode is nested under it). The code is included below, but essentially checks the url of each node and compares it with the url of the currentnode, up through the currentnodes "family tree". The CurrentBranch is used by my custom menu builder to add a class that highlights menu items on the CurrentBranch. The Problem: My custom menu works fine, but I have found that the mvcSiteMapProvider does not seem to evaluate the url of the CurrentNode in a consistent manner: When two nodes point to the same action and are distinguished only by a parameter of the action, SiteMap.CurrentNode does not seem to use the correct route (it ignores the distinguishing parameter and defaults to the first route that that maps to the action defined in the node). Example of the Problem: In an app I have Members. A Member has a MemberStatus field that can be "Unprocessed", "Active" or "Inactive". To change the MemberStatus, I have a ProcessMemberController in an Area called Admin. The processing is done using the Process action on the ProcessMemberController. My mvcSiteMap has two nodes that BOTH map to the Process action. The only difference between them is the alternate parameter (such are my client's domain semantics), that in one case has a value of "Processed" and in the other "Unprocessed": Nodes: <mvcSiteMapNode title="Process" area="Admin" controller="ProcessMembers" action="Process" alternate="Unprocessed" /> <mvcSiteMapNode title="Change Status" area="Admin" controller="ProcessMembers" action="Process" alternate="Processed" /> Routes: The corresponding routes to these two nodes are (again, the only thing that distinguishes them is the value of the alternate parameter): context.MapRoute( "Process_New_Members", "Admin/Unprocessed/Process/{MemberId}", new { controller = "ProcessMembers", action = "Process", alternate="Unprocessed", MemberId = UrlParameter.Optional } ); context.MapRoute( "Change_Status_Old_Members", "Admin/Members/Status/Change/{MemberId}", new { controller = "ProcessMembers", action = "Process", alternate="Processed", MemberId = UrlParameter.Optional } ); What works: The Html.ActionLink helper uses the routes and produces the urls I expect: @Html.ActionLink("Process", MVC.Admin.ProcessMembers.Process(item.MemberId, "Unprocessed") // Output (alternate="Unprocessed" and item.MemberId = 12): Admin/Unprocessed/Process/12 @Html.ActionLink("Status", MVC.Admin.ProcessMembers.Process(item.MemberId, "Processed") // Output (alternate="Processed" and item.MemberId = 23): Admin/Members/Status/Change/23 In both cases the output is correct and as I expect. What doesn't work: Let's say my request involves the second option, ie, /Admin/Members/Status/Change/47, corresponding to alternate = "Processed" and a MemberId of 47. Debugging my static CurrentBranch property (see below), I find that SiteMap.CurrentNode shows: PreviousSibling: null Provider: {MvcSiteMapProvider.DefaultSiteMapProvider} ReadOnly: false ResourceKey: "" Roles: Count = 0 RootNode: {Home} Title: "Process" Url: "/Admin/Unprocessed/Process/47" Ie, for a request url of /Admin/Members/Status/Change/47, SiteMap.CurrentNode.Url evaluates to /Admin/Unprocessed/Process/47. Ie, it is ignorning the alternate parameter and using the wrong route. CurrentBranch Static Property: /// <summary> /// ReadOnly. The routes are interpreted by Html.ActionLlink as I expect, but are not evaluated by SiteMap.CurrentNode as I expect. In other words, in evaluating my routes, SiteMap.CurrentNode ignores the distinguishing alternate parameter.
