This is too basic I think, but how do both of these work?
return true; // 1
and
return (true); // 2
Similar: sizeof, exit
My guess:
If return was a function, 1 would be
erroneous.
So, return should be a unary
operator that can also take in
brackets... pretty much like unary
minus: -5 and -(5), both are
okay.
Is that what it is - a unary operator?
is there a built in function to compute the overlap between two discrete intervals, e.g. the overlap between [10, 15] and [20, 38]? In that case the overlap is 0. If it's [10, 20], [15, 20], the overlap is 5.
thanks.
How can I tell if a given javascript function will work across browsers? For instance, I want to use String.trim() and I see that it works in Firefox, but will it work in all the other major browsers? I imagine there is a good doc online somewhere, but I can't find it.
Hi guys.
I read about function pointers in C
And everyone said that will make my program run slow.
Is it true?
I made a program to check it.
And I got the same results on both cases. (mesure the time.)
So, is it bad to use fuction pointer?
Thanks in advance.
char
char* c[30];
c = (char*) malloc(30*sizeof(char) );
How does this give an incompatible declaration in built in function warning and and incompatible types in assignment error in the line where i have declared malloc . According to the syntax of malloc , i shouldnt have any error
Hi there,
I have created a usercontrol to capture education details, it contains 5 textboxes and an functionto insert that values into my db. I have added the usercontrol 5 times to a page. I have a button on my aspx page which I want to be able to click and call the function to insert the values.
Can anyone suggest how I can do this?
Is there any textbox comoponent(control) which is counting back from the maxlength?
I can write it but i would like to find a control which has this function.
Hi!
Im trying to do a simple fadeIn ONCE for the first div , but the problem is that this is a ajax load inside a everyTime(xxx sec), so it does the same thing everytime it loads again.
anyone got any ideas on how i can prevent the first div to fadeIn over and over again, but still do this function on the new div?
Not very familiar with Jquery.. so feed me with a spoon :)
i wrote a simple function in controller

Hi,
In my C++ program, I need to call this c API:
GConn* gnet_conn_new (const gchar *hostname,
gint port,
GConnFunc func);
where GConnFunc is defined as:
void (*GConnFunc) (GConn *conn);
My question is if I have a C++ class and have a member function like
Class A {
public:
A();
void my_func (GConn* conn);
}
In my A::A() Constructor, how can I pass this-myfunc to gnet_conn_new as the GConnFunc parameter?
Thank you.
I create empty project. Add some dll and lib. Then I include header file from one library and the program begin ignore main function, when i execute it.
No errors during building was.
Such behavior shoke me. It seems program use DllMain or so on.
Any suggestion?
Thanks.
I recently learned that all stl containers have swap function:
i.e.
c1.swap(c2);
will lead to object underlying c1 being assigned to c2 and vice versa.
I asked my professor if same is true in case of c1 and c2 being references.
he said same mechanism is followed.
I wonder how it happens since c++ references cannot be reseted.
i have a code like
res = doc.evalute(xpathExpr,doc,function(prefix) { return namespaces[prefix] || null;}, XPathResult.ANY_TYPE,null );
here doc is DOM document node
when i run for loop like this
for(i in doc)alert(i);
it gives evalute method
but when i tried to use this method on dom node it giving me error like
xpathResult not defined...
i'm working in android browser
thanks in advance....
Windows XP, Python 2.5:
hash('http://stackoverflow.com') Result: 1934711907
Google App Engine (http://shell.appspot.com/):
hash('http://stackoverflow.com') Result: -5768830964305142685
Why is that? How can I have a hash function which will give me same results across different platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac)?
Hi, I am writing a custom read function for one of the data types in my module. For eg, when I do read "(1 + 1)" :: Data, I want it to return Plus 1 1. My data declaration is data Data = Plus Int Int. Thanks
Hi everyone:
I have a question, here are two class below:
class Base{
public:
virtual void toString(); // generic implementation
}
class Derive : public Base{
public:
( virtual ) void toString(); // specific implementation
}
The question is:
If I wanna subclass of class Derive perform polymophism using a pointer of type Base, is keyword virtual in the bracket necessary?
If the answer is no, what's the difference between member function toString of class Derive with and without virtual?
I am using TextMate on a Ruby on Rails project and wonder if you can put the mouse on link_to, and then press a key and it will show the definition of link_to, or does this for any other helper functions?
Or, click open a box and type in a function name and it will show you the definition?
i am looking an funtion to reverse any string (YYYYMDD,YY/MM/DD,YYMMDD,...) created by the function FormatDateTime to datetime.

i have a string-date in format YYYYMMDDcreated by FormatDateTime

now how i can convert mydatestr to DateTime again?
I know that it's OK for a pure virtual function to have an implementation. However, why it is like this? Is there conflict for the two concepts? What's the usage? Can any one offer any example?
I have seven columns in my table:
hours, weight, status, total_hours, total_weight and percentage
total_weight = weight where status = 'X'
total_hours = hours where status = 'X'
percentage = total_hours/sum(weight)
sum(weight) is an aggregate function
I would like to specify formula to generate the three computed columns.
What do i do?
I have trouble compiling a class, which has function pointers as member variables. The pointers are to functions which take an instance of a class as argument.
Like
template<class T, int N>
double (*f)(Vector<T,N> v);
I get "error: data member 'f' cannot be a member template" Compiler is gcc 4.2.
Is it possible to assign php array in MySQL IN() function? for example,
$numbers = array('8001254656','8886953265','88864357445','80021536245');
$sql = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM `number_table` WHERE `number` IN ($numbers)");
Any Ideas?
Thanks,
