The procedure is meant to be the "ultimate" index information procedure, providing lots of information about all indexes in a database or all indexes for a certain table.   • Don't speak to the DBA while he/she is doing the job?!

    Our DBA was very busy today, he helped out our developers to write efficient code,explained to the programmer how to launch the old DTS package on SQL Server 2005 and etc. You know how it is, someone comes in and asking the question and you answer the question at the same time you are busy to do something. So  today answering one of such questions he deleted by mistake very ctitical database. Fortunately, we had zero data loss,thanks to our backup/recovery strategy. I think that is acceptable to say that you are busy right now ,please ask the question later on, what do you think?   • New Seagate SSD and Hard Disks

    Seagate today announced a near complete overhaul of their enterprise product line. This include second generation SSD now with either SAS and SATA interfaces. The first generation Pulsar SSD only supported SATA interface. The new 2.5in 15K and 10K hard drive models have higher capacity. The 2.5in 7.2K hard drive was upgraded to 1TB last month? In principle, at low overall CPU utilization, for non-parallel execution plans, it should not matter whether HT is enabled or not. Of course, DBA life is never that simple.   • LOB Pointer Indexing Proposal

    My observations are that IO to lob pages (and row overflow pages as well?) is restricted to synchronous IO, which can result in serious problems when these reside on disk drive storage. Even if the storage system is comprised of hundreds of HDDs, the realizable IO performance to lob pages is that of a single disk, with some improvement in parallel execution plans.     I want to move my current Tumblr blog to static HTML blog. Currently I am using a custom domain, I am planning on doing the move when Google sees domain name change. I am considering two options: Buying a hosting service Using GitHub pages Buying a hosting service would probably mean I am going to pay for lots of things that I don't need like PHP, MySQL, e-mail service etc. On the other hand, if I use GitHub pages, I can't use .htaccess file to make 301 redirects. I want to change my URL structure and this is important to me. I was wondering if I use: <meta http-equiv=refresh content="0; url=http://example.com/newurl" /> Would Google see it as 301 redirect, so that I won't use my search engine value?
