  • RMI-applets - Cannot understand error message

    - by aeter
    In a simple RMI game I'm writing (an assignment in uni), I reveice: java.rmi.MarshalException: error marshalling arguments; nested exception is: java.net.SocketException: Broken pipe at sun.rmi.server.UnicastRef.invoke(UnicastRef.java:138) at java.rmi.server.RemoteObjectInvocationHandler.invokeRemoteMethod(RemoteObjectInvocationHandler.java:178) at java.rmi.server.RemoteObjectInvocationHandler.invoke(RemoteObjectInvocationHandler.java:132) at $Proxy2.drawWorld(Unknown Source) at PlayerServerImpl$1.actionPerformed(PlayerServerImpl.java:180) at javax.swing.Timer.fireActionPerformed(Timer.java:271) at javax.swing.Timer$DoPostEvent.run(Timer.java:201) at java.awt.event.InvocationEvent.dispatch(InvocationEvent.java:209) at java.awt.EventQueue.dispatchEvent(EventQueue.java:597) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpOneEventForFilters(EventDispatchThread.java:269) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEventsForFilter(EventDispatchThread.java:184) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEventsForHierarchy(EventDispatchThread.java:174) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEvents(EventDispatchThread.java:169) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEvents(EventDispatchThread.java:161) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.run(EventDispatchThread.java:122) The error message appears after the second Player is registered with the RMI Server and the server starts to send the image (the array of pixels) to the 2 applets. The PlayerImpl and the PlayerServerImpl both extend UnicastRemoteObject. I have been struggling with other error messages for some time now, but I cannot understand how to troubleshoot this one. Please help. The relevant parts of the code are: PlayerServerImpl.java: ... timer = new Timer(10, new ActionListener() { // every 10 milliseconds do: @Override public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { ... BufferedImage buff_image = new BufferedImage(GAME_APPLET_WIDTH, GAME_APPLET_HEIGHT, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB); // create a graphics context on the buffered image Graphics buff_g = buff_image.createGraphics(); ... // draw the score somewhere on the screen buff_g.drawString(score, GAME_APPLET_WIDTH - 20, 10); ... int[] rgbs = new int[GAME_APPLET_WIDTH * GAME_APPLET_HEIGHT]; int imgPixelsGrabbed[] = buff_image.getRGB(0,0,GAME_APPLET_WIDTH,GAME_APPLET_HEIGHT,rgbs,0,GAME_APPLET_WIDTH); // send the new state to the applets for (Player player : players) { player.drawWorld(imgPixelsGrabbed); System.out.println("Sent image to player"); } PlayerImpl.java: private PlayerApplet applet; public PlayerImpl(PlayerApplet applet) throws RemoteException { super(); this.applet = applet; } ... @Override public void drawWorld(int[] imgPixelsGrabbed) throws RemoteException { applet.setWorld(imgPixelsGrabbed); applet.repaint(); } ... PlayerApplet.java: ... private int[] world; // an array of pixels for the new image to be drawn ... // register players player = new PlayerImpl(applet); String serverIPAddressPort = ipAddressField.getText(); if (validateIPAddressPort(serverIPAddressPort)) { server = (PlayerServer) Naming.lookup("rmi://" + serverIPAddressPort + "/PlayerServer"); server.register(player); idPlayer = server.sendPlayerID(); ... @Override public void update(Graphics g) { buff_img = createImage((ImageProducer) new MemoryImageSource(getWidth(), getHeight(), world, 0, getWidth())); Graphics gr = buff_img.getGraphics(); paint(gr); g.drawImage(buff_img, 0, 0, this); } public void setWorld(int[] world) { this.world = world; }

  • Algorithm for dividing very large numbers

    - by pocoa
    I need to write an algorithm(I cannot use any 3rd party library, because this is an assignment) to divide(integer division, floating parts are not important) very large numbers like 100 - 1000 digits. I found http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourier_division algorithm but I don't know if it's the right way to go. Do you have any suggestions?

  • C# Taking a element off each time (stack)

    - by Sef
    Greetings, Have a question considering a program that stimulates a stack.(not using any build in stack features or any such) stack2= 1 2 3 4 5 //single dimension array of 5 elements By calling up a method "pop" the stack should look like the following: Basically taking a element off each time the stack is being "called" up again. stack2= 1 2 3 4 0 stack2= 1 2 3 0 0 stack2= 1 2 0 0 0 stack2= 1 0 0 0 0 stack2= 0 0 0 0 0 - for (int i = 1; i <= 6; i++) { number= TryPop(s2); //use number ShowStack(s2, "s2"); } Basically I already have code that fills my array with values (trough a push method). The pop method should basically take the last value and place it on 0. Then calls up the next stack and place the following on 0 (like shown above in stack2). The current pop method that keeps track of the top index (0 elements = 0 top, 1 element = 1 top etc..). Already includes a underflow warning if this goes on 0 or below (which is correct). public int Pop() { if(top <= 0) { throw new Exception("Stack underflow..."); } else { for (int j = tabel.Length - 1; j >= 0; j--) { //...Really not sure what to do here. } } return number; }/*Pop*/ Since in the other class I already have a loop (for loop shown above) that simulates 6 times the s2 stack. (first stack: 1 2 3 4 0, second stack 1 2 3 0 0 and so on.) How exactly do I take a element off each time? Either I have the entire display on 0 or the 0 in the wrong places / out of index errors. Thanks in advance!

  • Are these tables respect the 3NF Database Normalization?

    - by penas
    AUTHOR table Author_ID, PK First_Name Last_Name TITLES table TITLE_ID, PK NAME Author_ID, FK DOMAIN table DOMAIN_ID, PK NAME TITLE_ID, FK READERS table READER_ID, PK First_Name Last_Name ADDRESS CITY_ID, FK PHONE CITY table CITY_ID, PK NAME BORROWING table BORROWING_ID,pk READER_ID, fk TITLE_ID, fk DATE HISTORY table READER_ID TITLE_ID DATE_OF_BORROWING DATE_OF_RETURNING Are these tables respect the 3NF Database Normalization? What if 2 authors work together for the same title? The column Addresss should have it's own table? When a reader borrows a book, I make an entry in BORROWING table. After he returns the book, I delete that entry and I make another one entry in HISTORY table. Is this a good idea? Do I brake any rule? Should I have instead one single BORROWING table with a DATE_OF_RETURNING column?

  • Decimal Base Conversion using PYTHON

    - by Butinyane More
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION Given a decimal number, and a new base to represent it in. If the base is larger than 10, use capital letters for the digits(that is, A is 10, B is 11 and so forth). The decimal number given, and the new base, will both be integer values, separated by a space. The base to convert to will always be smaller than or equal to 30. Please create a program that will convert a decimal number to any base in this instance. When evaluating the program the sample input must something like: 18 2 and the program must output the following: 10010 Please i beg of you to send me a solution to this problem as soon as possible.

  • Eclipse says I don't implement Enumeration, but I do

    - by Harm De Weirdt
    Goodmorning everybody, I'm having a little problem with a project for school. We are told to make an Iterator that implements Enumeration over a Hashmap. So i made this Enumeration: public Enumeration<Object> getEnumeration() { return new Enumeration<Object>() { private int itemsDone = 0; Collection<Long> keysCollection = getContent().keySet(); Long [] keys = keysCollection.toArray(new Long[keysCollection.size()]); @Override public boolean hasMoreElements() { if(itemsDone < getContent().size() +1 ) { return true; }else { return false; } } @Override public Object nextElement() { return getContent().get(keys[itemsDone++]); } }; } This goes in my Backpack class public class Backpack extends Item implements Carrier, Enumeration<Object>{ The hashmap is returned by getContent(). The problem now is that eclipse keeps telling me I havent implemented the methods from Enumeration. If I use the quick fix it just adds the hasMoreElements() and nextElement() dummy methods in my class. Somehow it doesn't see these methods in the inner class.. Can anyone help me please? Any help is appreciated.

  • How can I fix the website's splash page to work in IE8 and below?

    - by Abriel
    I have been trying to figure out for the longest time how I can get the splash page on this website to work correctly in IE8 and below? Right now, it works on all the other browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Safari). Here is the website: http://gds.parkland.edu/student/fall10/gds220/ashipley/p2/final_revised/index.html jQuery code: /* Sliding Affect Splash Page */ $(function() { $('.box').each(function() { var $this = $(this); $.data(this, 'css', { width: $this.css('width'), background: $this.css('background-image') }); }); }); function restore() { $('.box').each(function() { var orig = $.data(this, 'css'); $(this).animate({ width: orig.width },{queue:false}); $(this).css({backgroundImage: orig.background}); }); } /* box 1 */ function boxHover(){ $('.box').stop().animate({'width' : '596px'},{queue:false}); } function box1master(){ $('.box2').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/zatgun_midtop.jpg)'}); $('.box3').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/zatgun_midbottom.jpg)'}); $('.box4').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/zatgun_bottom.jpg)'}); } function box2master(){ $('.box1').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/bryan_top.jpg)'}); $('.box3').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/bryan_midbottom.jpg)'}); $('.box4').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/bryan_bottom.jpg)'}); } function box3master(){ $('.box1').css({backgroundImage:'url(images/splash/galleries_top.jpg)'}); $('.box2').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/galleries_midtop.jpg)'}); $('.box4').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/galleries_bottom.jpg)'}); } function box4master(){ $('.box1').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/contact_top.jpg)'}); $('.box2').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/contact_midtop.jpg)'}); $('.box3').css({backgroundImage: 'url(images/splash/contact_midbottom.jpg)'}); } $(document).ready(function(){ $('.box1').hover(function(){ boxHover(); box1master(); }, function(){ restore(); }); $('.box2').hover(function(){ boxHover(); box2master(); }, function(){ restore(); }); $('.box3').hover(function(){ boxHover(); box3master(); }, function(){ restore(); }); $('.box4').hover(function(){ boxHover(); box4master(); }, function(){ restore(); }); }); I wonder if I could change the spacing in-between each of the boxes using jQuery or if I somehow have to do this in the CSS/HTML?

  • string replace in file using C

    - by Hristo
    I haven't yet implemented this, I'm still in the thinking stage, but I have to go through a file and replace a certain string with another string. For example, <img src="/images/logo.gif" ... should become <img src="/proxy/www.example.com/images/logo.gif" ... Any advice on how I can approach this? Perhaps there exist some "string replace" C functions that would do this for me that I don't know about...? Right now, if I had to write this function myself, I would give it as parameters the file, string to replace, replacement string. Then I would manually go through the file and look for an occurrence of the string and recreate it. This, however, seems very inefficient. Are there better ways to do this? Thanks, Hristo

  • Calculate car filled up times

    - by Ivan
    Here is the question: The driving distance between Perth and Adelaide is 1996 miles. On the average, the fuel consumption of a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder car is 8 litres per 100 kilometres. The fuel tank capacity of such a car is 60 litres. Design and implement a JAVA program that prompts for the fuel consumption and fuel tank capacity of the aforementioned car. The program then displays the minimum number of times the car’s fuel tank has to be filled up to drive from Perth to Adelaide. Note that 62 miles is equal to 100 kilometres. What data will you use to test that your algorithm works correctly? Here is what I've done so far: import java.util.Scanner;// public class Ex4{ public static void main( String args[] ){ Scanner input = new Scanner( System.in ); double distance, consumption, capacity, time; distance = Math.sqrt(1996/62*100); consumption = Math.sqrt(8/100); capacity = 60; time = Math.sqrt(distance*consumption/capacity); System.out.println("The car's fuel tank need to be filled up:" + time + "times"); } } I can compile it but the problem is that the result is always 0.0, can anyone help me what's wrong with it ?

  • Creating my own Stack

    - by Malaken
    I am creating my own stack for my data structures class. For our assignment we are using the assignment to convert a real-time infix equation into a postfix equation. I thought my program: took input determines if it was digit or number(operand) prints it out determines if input is operator (+,-,/,*) adds to stack or prints out, depending on stack precedence Instead it prints out the operands as expect, but I get this error when I enter an operator .../dorun.sh line 33: 4136 Segmentation fault sh "$" [code] #include using namespace std; class DishWell{ public: char ReturnEnd(){ return Well.back(); } void Push(char x){ Well.push_back(x); } void Pop(){ Well.pop_back(); } bool IsEmpty(){ return Well.empty(); } private: vector<char> Well; }; #include <iostream> bool Precidence(char Input, char Stack){ int InputPrecidence,StackPrecidence; switch (Input){ case '*': InputPrecidence = 4; break; case '/': InputPrecidence = 4; break; case '+': InputPrecidence = 3; break; case '-': InputPrecidence = 3; break; case '(': InputPrecidence = 2; break; default: InputPrecidence = 0; } switch (Stack){ case '*': StackPrecidence = 4; break; case '/': StackPrecidence = 4; break; case '+': StackPrecidence = 3; break; case '-': StackPrecidence = 3; break; case '(': StackPrecidence = 2; break; default: StackPrecidence = 0; } if(InputPrecidence>StackPrecidence) return true; else return false; } int main(int argc, char** argv) { DishWell DishTray; char Input; bool InputFlag; InputFlag = true; while(InputFlag){ cin>>Input; if((((Input>='a'&&Input<='z')||(Input>='A'&&Input<='Z'))|| (Input>='0'&&Input<='9')))//If Digit or Number cout<<Input; if((Input=='*'||Input=='/'||Input=='+'||Input=='-')){//if operand if(Precidence(Input,DishTray.ReturnEnd())) DishTray.Push(Input); else if(!Precidence(Input,DishTray.ReturnEnd())) cout<<Input; } else if(!((((Input>='a'&&Input<='z')||(Input>='A'&&Input<='Z'))|| (Input>='0'&&Input<='9')))||((Input=='*'||Input=='/'||Input=='+'||Input=='-')))//if not digit/numer or operand InputFlag = false; } while(!DishTray.IsEmpty()){ cout<<DishTray.ReturnEnd(); DishTray.Pop(); } return 0; [code] My code is very length, I know, but I appreciate help. • fgets and strcmp [C]

    - by Blackbinary
    I'm trying to compare two strings. One stored in a file, the other retrieved from the user (stdin). Here is a sample program: int main() { char targetName[50]; fgets(targetName,50,stdin); char aName[] = "bob"; printf("%d",strcmp(aName,targetName)); return 0; } In this program, strcmp returns a value of -1 when the input is 'bob'. Why is this? I thought they should be equal. How can i get it so that they are?

    If i have the xml/html data to post we need to encode the data to avoid the XSS validation. So should we use HTMLencode or URI encoding for this. If URI encoding is used will it cause issues as form POST automatically URI encode all the data before sending.

Maskable interrupt Unmaskable interrupt Hardware interrupt Software interrupt CPU INTR pin the IF bit of EFlags register Some specific questions: What's the relationship between Maskable/Unmaskable interrupt and Hardware/Software interrupt? What's the relationship between maskability and being software/hardware? Is there any unmaskable/software interrupt and maskable/hardware interrupt? What kind of interrupts does INTR pin detect? What kind of interrupts are enabled/disabled by IF bit of EFlags register? What kind of interrupts need the presence of an interrupt controller? Many thanks.

  • C SIGSEGV Handler & Mprotect

    - by pws5068
    I'm constructing a program which uses mprotect() to restrict a block of memory from accessing. When the memory is requested, a SIGSEGV is thrown which I listen for using a signal() call. Once the SIGSEGV has been detected, I need to somehow access the pointer to the memory that was requested (that threw the fault) and the size of the segment requested. Is this possible? void fifoSigHandler(){ // Needs to only remove protection from requested block of virtual memory mprotect(fifoVm,(size_t)fifoVm_size,PROT_WRITE); printf("Caught Seg Fault"); } void fifo_init(void* vm, int vm_size, int n_frames, int page_size) { fifoVm = vm; fifoVm_size = vm_size; fifoFrames = n_frames; fifoPageSize = page_size; mprotect(fifoVm,(size_t)fifoVm_size,PROT_NONE); signal(SIGSEGV, fifoSigHandler); } Additionally, is there a way to determine the level of mprotect() a block of memory is currently assigned (PROT_NONE,PROT_READ, etc..)?

Any ideas why?

  • C++ question on prime numbers.

    - by user278330
    Hello. I am trying to make a program that determines if the number is prime or composite. I have gotten thus far. Could you give me any ideas so that it will work? All primes will , however, because composites have values that are both r0 and r==0, they will always be classified as prime. How can I fix this? int main() { int pNumber, limit, x, r; limit = 0; x = 2; cout << "Please enter any positive integer: " ; cin >> pNumber; if (pNumber < 0) { cout << "Invalid. Negative Number. " << endl; return 0; } else if (pNumber == 0) { cout << "Invalid. Zero has an infinite number of divisors, and therefore neither composite nor prime." << endl; return 0; } else if (pNumber == 1) { cout << "Valid. However, one is neither prime nor composite" << endl; return 0; } else { while (limit < pNumber) { r = pNumber % x; x++; limit++; } if (r == 0) cout << "Your number is composite" << endl; else cout << "Your number is prime" << endl; } return 0; }

  • Exam Questions that use .Demand or .LinkDemand COULD NOT BE ANY MORE CONFUSING OR AMBIGIOUS ????

    - by IbrarMumtaz
    I am 110% sure this is WRONG !!!! Q.12) You develop a library, and want to ensure that the functions in the library cannot be either directly or indirectly invoked by applications that are not running on the local intranet. What attribute would you add to each method? A. [UrlIdentityPermission(SecurityAction.RequestRefuse, Url="http://myintranet")] B. [UrlIdentityPermission(SecurityAction.LinkDemand, Url="http://myintranet")] (correct answer) C. [UrlIdentityPermission(SecurityAction.Demand, Url="http://myintranet")] D. [UrlIdentityPermission(SecurityAction.Assert, Url="http://myintranet")] Explanation Link-Demand should be used as it ensures that all callers in the call stack have the necessary permission. In this case it ensures that all callers in the call stack are on the local intranet. There is an indentical question on Transencer so I already had a clue what was goin but Transcender was much more informative that this drivel as it mentioned class level and not assembly level. It also mentioned that some callers maybe coming externally from the company intranet via authroised and authenticated credentials. With information is easy to see why .Demand on would be wong option to go for? So Transcender was right .... so I thgt fine, that makes sense. With think information still fresh in my brain I had a good idea was was going on in the question. To my surprise .Demand was wrong agin !!!! WHAT? I am really starting to hate this setting now? I cannot be any more p*ssed right now!!! :@ Thanks For Reading, Ibrar

And also any other help you can give would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! P.S. I know the code is not the best implementation, but its a template I have to follow :( Code: class Moves { private final Board B; private boolean regular; public Moves(final Board b) { B = b; regular = regular_position(); } public boolean get_regular_position() { return regular; } public void set_regular_position(final boolean new_reg) { regular = new_reg; } // checking whether B represents a "normal" position or not; // if not, then only simple checks regarding move-correctness should // be performed, only checking the direct characteristics of the figure // moved; // checks whether there is exactly one king of each colour, there are // no more figures than promotions allow, and there are no pawns on the // first or last rank; public boolean regular_position() { int[] counts = new int[256]; for (char file = 'a'; file <= 'h'; ++file) for (char rank = '1'; rank <= '8'; ++rank) ++counts[(int) B.get(file,rank)]; if (counts[Board.white_king] != 1 || counts[Board.black_king] != 1) return false; if (counts[Board.white_pawn] > 8 || counts[Board.black_pawn] > 8) return false; int count_w_promotions = 0; count_w_promotions += Math.max(counts[Board.white_queen]-1,0); count_w_promotions += Math.max(counts[Board.white_rook]-2,0); count_w_promotions += Math.max(counts[Board.white_bishop]-2,0); count_w_promotions += Math.max(counts[Board.white_knight]-2,0); if (count_w_promotions > 8 - counts[Board.white_pawn]) return false; int count_b_promotions = 0; count_b_promotions += Math.max(counts[Board.black_queen]-1,0); count_b_promotions += Math.max(counts[Board.black_rook]-2,0); count_b_promotions += Math.max(counts[Board.black_bishop]-2,0); count_b_promotions += Math.max(counts[Board.black_knight]-2,0); if (count_b_promotions > 8 - counts[Board.black_pawn]) return false; for (char file = 'a'; file <= 'h'; ++file) { final char fig1 = B.get(file,'1'); if (fig1 == Board.white_pawn || fig1 == Board.black_pawn) return false; final char fig8 = B.get(file,'8'); if (fig8 == Board.white_pawn || fig8 == Board.black_pawn) return false; } return true; } public boolean check_normal_white_move(final char file0, final char rank0, final char file1, final char rank1) { if (!   • Bash and regex problem : check for tokens entered into a Coke vending machine

    - by Michael Mao
    Hi all: Here is a "challenge question" I've got from Linux system programming lecture. Any of the following strings will give you a Coke if you kick: L = { aaaa, aab, aba, baa, bb, aaaa"a", aaaa"b", aab"a", … ab"b"a, ba"b"a, ab"bbbbbb"a, ... } The letters shown in wrapped double quotes indicate coins that would have fallen through (but those strings are still part of the language in this example). Exercise (a bit hard) show this is the language of a regular expression And this is what I've got so far : #!/usr/bin/bash echo "A bottle of Coke costs you 40 cents" echo -e "Please enter tokens (a = 10 cents, b = 20 cents) in a sequence like 'abba' :\c" read tokens #if [ $tokens = aaaa ]||[ $tokens = aab ]||[ $tokens = bb ] #then # echo "Good! now a coke is yours!" #else echo "Thanks for your money, byebye!" if [[ $token =~ 'aaaa|aab|bb' ]] then echo "Good! now a coke is yours!" else echo "Thanks for your money, byebye!" fi Sadly it doesn't work... always outputs "Thanks for your money, byebye!" I believe something is wrong with syntax... We didn't provided with any good reference book and the only instruction from the professor was to consult "anything you find useful online" and "research the problem yourself" :( I know how could I do it in any programming language such as Java, but get it done with bash script + regex seems not "a bit hard" but in fact "too hard" for anyone with little knowledge on something advanced as "lookahead"(is this the terminology ?) I don't know if there is a way to express the following concept in the language of regex: Valid entry would consist of exactly one of the three components : aaaa, aab and bb, regardless of order, followed by an arbitrary sequence of a or b's So this is what is should be like : (a{4}Ua{2}bUb{2})(aUb)* where the content in first braces is order irrelevant. Thanks a lot in advance for any hints and/or tips :)
