  • Advanced Localization with Omission of Arguments in Xcode

    - by coneybeare
    I have this formatted string that I am having a translator work on. ENGLISH "Check out the %1$@ %2$@ in %3$@: %4$@" = "Check out the %1$@ %2$@ in %3$@: %4$@" GERMAN TRANSLATION "Check out the %1$@ %2$@ in %3$@: %4$@" = "Hör Dir mal %2$@ in %3$@ an: %4$@"; These are passed to a [NSString stringWithFormat:] call: ////////////////////////////////////// // Share Over Twitter NSString *frmt = NSLocalizedString(@"Check out the %1$@ %2$@ in %3$@: %4$@", @"The default tweet for sharing sounds. Use %1$@ for where the sound type (Sound, mix, playlist) will be, %2$@ for where the audio name will be, %3$@ for the app name, and %3$@ for where the sound link will be."); NSString *urlString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"sounds/%@", SoundSoundID(audio)]; NSString *url = ([audio audioType] == UAAudioTypeSound ? UrlFor(urlString) : APP_SHORTLINK); NSString *msg = [NSString stringWithFormat: frmt, [[Audio titleForAudioType:[audio audioType]] lowercaseString], [NSString stringWithFormat:@"\"%@\"", AudioName(audio)], APP_NAME, url]; NSString *applink = [NSString stringWithFormat:@" %@", APP_SHORTLINK]; if (msg.length <= (140 - applink.length)) { msg = [msg stringByAppendingString:applink]; } returnString = msg; With the desired and actual outcome of: ENGLISH desired: "Check out the sound "This Sound Name" in My App Name: link_to_sound link_to_app" actual: "Check out the sound "This Sound Name" in My App Name: link_to_sound link_to_app" GERMAN desired: "Hör Dir mal "This Sound Name" in My App Name an: link_to_sound link_to_app" actual: "Hör Dir mal sound in "This Sound Name" an: My App Name link_to_app" THE PROBLEM The problem is that I was under the assumption that by using numbered variable in the NSLocalizedString, I could do things like this, where the %1$@ variable is completely omitted. If you notice, the German translation of the format string does not use the first argument (%1$@) at all but it ("sound") still appears in the output string. What am I doing wrong?

  • SQLITE crash when no data present in table

    - by johnblack45
    Hey, Im having a problem with my app that causes it to crash when no data is present in the table when using a table view. I have tested my code and it works fine as long as there is data present but i need it to work when there is no data present. -(void)initialiseTableData { NSMutableArray *array = [[NSMutableArray alloc]init]; sqlite3 *db = [iCaddyAppDelegate getNewDBConnection]; sqlite3_stmt *statement; const char *sql = "select courseId, courseName, totalPar, totalyardage, holePars, holeYardages, holeStrokeIndexs from Course"; if(sqlite3_prepare_v2(db, sql, -1, &statement, NULL)!= SQLITE_OK) { NSAssert1(0,@"Error preparing statement",sqlite3_errmsg(db)); sqlite3_close(db); } else { while (sqlite3_step(statement) == SQLITE_ROW) { Course *temp = [[Course alloc]init]; temp.courseId = sqlite3_column_int(statement,0); temp.courseName = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%s",(char*)sqlite3_column_text(statement,1)]; temp.totalPar =sqlite3_column_int(statement,2); temp.totalYardage =sqlite3_column_int(statement,3); NSString tempHolePars = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%s",(char)sqlite3_column_text(statement,4)]; NSString tempHoleYardages = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%s",(char)sqlite3_column_text(statement,5)]; NSString tempHoleStrokeIndexes = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%s",(char)sqlite3_column_text(statement,6)]; NSArray *temp1 = [tempHolePars componentsSeparatedByString:@":"]; NSArray *temp2 = [tempHoleYardages componentsSeparatedByString:@":"]; NSArray *temp3 = [tempHoleStrokeIndexes componentsSeparatedByString:@":"]; for(int i = 0; i<=17; i++) { NSString *temp1String = [temp1 objectAtIndex:i]; [temp.holePars insertObject:temp1String atIndex:i]; NSString *temp2String = [temp2 objectAtIndex:i]; [temp.holeYardages insertObject:temp2String atIndex:i]; NSString *temp3String = [temp3 objectAtIndex:i]; [temp.holeStrokeIndexes insertObject:temp3String atIndex:i]; } [array addObject:temp]; } self.list = array; [self.table reloadData]; } }

  • Is the scope of what Xcode's "Build and Analyze" will catch as a leak supposed to be this limited?

    - by Ranking Stackingblocks
    It doesn't care about this: NSString* leaker() { return [[NSString alloc] init]; } I thought it would have been smart enough to check if any code paths could call that function without releasing its return value (I wouldn't normally code this way, I'm just testing the analyzer). It reports this as a leak: NSString* leaker() { NSString* s = [[NSString alloc] init]; [s retain]; return s; } but NOT this: NSString* leaker() { NSString* s = [[NSString alloc] init]; // [s retain]; return s; } which seems particularly weak to me. Does it only analyze within the local scope? If the tool can't pick up on things like this, how can I expect it to pick up on actual mistakes that I might make?

  • Reducing lag when downloading large amount of data from webpage

    - by Mahir
    I am getting data via RSS feeds and displaying each article in a table view cell. Each cell has an image view, set to a default image. If the page has an image, the image is to be replaced with the image from the article. As of now, each cell downloads the source code from the web page, causing the app to lag when I push the view controller and when I try scrolling. Here is what I have in the cellForRowAtIndexPath: method. NSString * storyLink = [[stories objectAtIndex: storyIndex] objectForKey: @"link"]; storyLink = [storyLink stringByTrimmingCharactersInSet:[NSCharacterSet whitespaceAndNewlineCharacterSet]]; NSString *sourceCode = [NSString stringWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:storyLink] encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding error:&error]; NSString *startPt = @"instant-gallery"; NSString *startPt2 = @"<img src=\""; if ([sourceCode rangeOfString:startPt].length != 0) { //webpage has images // find the first "<img src=...>" tag starting from "instant-gallery" NSString *trimmedSource = [sourceCode substringFromIndex:NSMaxRange([sourceCode rangeOfString:startPt])]; trimmedSource = [trimmedSource substringFromIndex:NSMaxRange([trimmedSource rangeOfString:startPt2])]; trimmedSource = [trimmedSource substringToIndex:[trimmedSource rangeOfString:@"\""].location]; NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:trimmedSource]; NSData *data = [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:url]; UIImage *image = [UIImage imageWithData:data]; cell.picture.image = image; Someone suggested using NSOperationQueue. Would this way be a good solution? EDIT: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *MyIdentifier = @"FeedCell"; LMU_LAL_FeedCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:MyIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { NSArray *nib = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"LMU_LAL_FeedCell" owner:self options:nil]; cell = (LMU_LAL_FeedCell*) [nib objectAtIndex:0]; } int storyIndex = [indexPath indexAtPosition: [indexPath length] - 1]; NSString *untrimmedTitle = [[stories objectAtIndex: storyIndex] objectForKey: @"title"]; cell.title.text = [untrimmedTitle stringByTrimmingCharactersInSet:[NSCharacterSet whitespaceCharacterSet]]; CGSize maximumLabelSize = CGSizeMake(205,9999); CGSize expectedLabelSize = [cell.title.text sizeWithFont:cell.title.font constrainedToSize:maximumLabelSize]; //adjust the label to the the new height. • NSURLConnection request seems to disappear into thin air

    - by ibergmark
    Hi Everybody! I'm having trouble with a NSURLConnection request. My app calls a routine called sayHello to identify a user's device. This code works fine for all devices I've tested it on, but for some devices the request just seems to disappear into thin air with no errors or popups on the device. One specific device that fails is an iPod Touch 2G running OS 3.1.3. The app start's fine and doesn't crash, and none of my error popup messages are displayed. I just can't understand why my server never receives the request since the call to initWithRequest returns a pointer. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks. Here's the relevant header info: @interface Globals : NSObject { UserItem *userData; NSURLConnection *urlConnection; NSString *imageCacheLocation; NSOperationQueue *opQueue; } Here's the implementation of sayHello: - (void)sayHello:(BOOL)updateVisits; { NSString *updString; if (updateVisits) updString = @"Y"; else updString = @"N"; NSDictionary *dataDict = [[NSDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys: [[UIDevice currentDevice] uniqueIdentifier], @"id", kProgVersion, @"pv", @"1", @"pr", userData.tagID, @"tg", updString, @"uv", nil]; NSString *urlString = [[NSString alloc] initWithString:kHelloURL]; urlConnection = [self localPOST:dataDict toUrl:urlString delegate:self]; [dataDict release]; [urlString release]; } - (NSURLConnection *)localPOST:(NSDictionary *)dictionary toUrl:(NSString *)urlString delegate:(id)delegate { NSString *myBounds = [[NSString alloc] initWithString:@"0xKmYbOuNdArY"]; NSMutableData *myPostData = [[NSMutableData alloc] initWithCapacity:10]; NSArray *formKeys = [dictionary allKeys]; for (int i = 0; i < [formKeys count]; i++) { [myPostData appendData:[[NSString stringWithFormat:@"--%@\n", myBounds] dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; [myPostData appendData:[[NSString stringWithFormat: @"Content-Disposition: form-data; name=\"%@\"\n\n%@\n", [formKeys objectAtIndex:i], [dictionary valueForKey:[formKeys objectAtIndex:i]]] dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; } [myPostData appendData:[[NSString stringWithFormat:@"--%@--\n", myBounds] dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; NSURL *myURL = [[NSURL alloc] initWithString:urlString]; NSMutableURLRequest *myRequest = [[NSMutableURLRequest alloc] initWithURL:myURL cachePolicy:NSURLRequestReloadIgnoringCacheData timeoutInterval:30]; NSString *myContent = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat: @"multipart/form-data; boundary=%@", myBounds]; [myRequest setValue:myContent forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Type"]; [myRequest setHTTPMethod:@"POST"]; [myRequest setHTTPBody:myPostData]; NSURLConnection *connection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:myRequest delegate:delegate]; if (!connection) { [[Globals sharedGlobals] showAlertWithTitle: NSLocalizedString( @"Connection failed", @"alert title - connection failed") message: NSLocalizedString( @"Could not open a connection.", @"alert message - connection failed")]; } [myBounds release]; [myPostData release]; [myURL release]; [myRequest release]; [myContent release]; return connection; } - (void)handleNetworkError:(NSError *)error { if (networkErrorAlert) return; networkErrorAlert = YES; [[Globals sharedGlobals] showAlertWithTitle: NSLocalizedString( @"Network error", @"alert title - network error") message: [NSString stringWithFormat: NSLocalizedString( @"This app needs a network connection to function properly.", @"alert message - network error")] otherButtons:nil delegate:self]; } - (void) connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { [urlConnection release]; urlConnection = nil; } - (void) connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didFailWithError:(NSError *)error { [self handleNetworkError:error]; [urlConnection release]; urlConnection = nil; }

  • Schedule multiple events with NSTimer?

    - by AWright4911
    I have a schedule cache stored in a pList. For the example below, I have a schedule time of April 13, 2010 2:00PM and Aril 13, 2010 2:05PM. How can I add both of these to a queue to fire on their own? item 0 -Hour --14 -Minute --00 -Month --04 -Day --13 -Year --2010 item 1 -Hour --14 -Minute --05 -Month --04 -Day --13 -Year --2010 this is how I am attempting to schedule multiple events to fire at specific date / time. -(void) buildScheduleCache { MPNotifyViewController *notifier = [MPNotifyViewController alloc] ; [notifier setStatusText:@"Rebuilding schedule cache, this will only take a moment."]; [notifier show]; NSCalendarDate *now = [NSCalendarDate calendarDate]; NSFileManager *manager = [[NSFileManager defaultManager] autorelease]; path = @"/var/mobile/Library/MobileProfiles/Custom Profiles"; theProfiles = [manager directoryContentsAtPath:path]; myPrimaryinfo = [[NSMutableArray arrayWithCapacity:6] retain]; keys = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"Profile",@"MPSYear",@"MPSMonth",@"MPSDay",@"MPSHour",@"MPSMinute",nil]; for (NSString *profile in theProfiles) { plistDict = [[[NSMutableDictionary alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@/%@",path,profile]] autorelease]; [myPrimaryinfo addObject:[NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjects: [NSArray arrayWithObjects: [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",profile], [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",[plistDict objectForKey:@"MPSYear"]], [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",[plistDict objectForKey:@"MPSMonth"]], [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",[plistDict objectForKey:@"MPSDay"]], [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",[plistDict objectForKey:@"MPSHour"]], [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",[plistDict objectForKey:@"MPSMinute"]], nil]forKeys:keys]]; profileSched = [NSCalendarDate dateWithYear:[plistDict objectForKey:@"MPSYear"] month:[plistDict objectForKey:@"MPSMonth"] day:[plistDict objectForKey:@"MPSDay"] hour:[plistDict objectForKey:@"MPSHour"] minute:[plistDict objectForKey:@"MPSMinute"] second:01 timeZone:[now timeZone]]; [self rescheduleTimer]; } NSString *testPath = @"/var/mobile/Library/MobileProfiles/Schedules.plist"; [myPrimaryinfo writeToFile:testPath atomically:YES]; } -(void) rescheduleTimer { timer = [[NSTimer alloc] initWithFireDate:profileSched interval:0.0f target:self selector:@selector(theFireEvent) userInfo:nil repeats:YES]; NSRunLoop *runLoop = [NSRunLoop currentRunLoop]; [runLoop addTimer:timer forMode:NSDefaultRunLoopMode]; }

  • NSXMLParser & memory leaks

    - by HBR
    Hi, I am parsing an XML file using a custom class that instanciates & uses NSXMLParser. On the first call everything is fine but on the second, third and later calls Instruments show tens of memory leaks on certain lines inside didEndElement, didEndElement and foundCharacters functions. I googled it and found some people having this issue, but I didn't find anything that could really help me. My Parser class looks like this : Parser.h @interface XMLParser : NSObject { NSMutableArray *data; NSMutableString *currentValue; NSArray *xml; NSMutableArray *videos; NSMutableArray *photos; NSXMLParser *parser; [feed release]; // Parse feed NSString *url = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"MyXMLURL"]; [[self rssParser] parseXML:[NSURL URLWithString:url]]; Now the problem is that after the first (which has zero leaks), instruments shows leaks in too many parts like this one (they are too much to enumerate them all, but all the calls look the same, I made the leaking line bold) : in didEndElement : if ([elementName isEqualToString:@"link"]) { // THIS LINE IS LEAKING => INSTRUMENTS SAYS IT IS A NSCFString LEAK [self content] setUrl:[NSURL URLWithString:cleanValue]]; [[self content] setLink: cleanValue]; } Any idea how to fix this pealse ? Could this be the same problem as the one mentioned (as an apple bug) by Lee Amtrong here :http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1598928/nsxmlparser-leaking

    I have a data source with about 2000 lines that look like the following: 6712,Anaktuvuk Pass Airport,Anaktuvuk Pass,United States,AKP,PAKP,68.1336,-151.743,2103,-9,A What I am interested in is the 6th section of this string so I want to turn it into an array, then i want to check the 6th section [5] for an occurrance of that string "PAKP" Code: NSBundle *bundle = [NSBundle mainBundle]; NSString *airportsPath = [bundle pathForResource:@"airports" ofType:@"dat"]; NSData *data = [NSData dataWithContentsOfFile:airportsPath]; NSString *dataString = [[[NSString alloc] initWithData:data encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding] autorelease]; NSArray *dataArray = [dataString componentsSeparatedByString:@"\n"]; NSRange locationOfAirport; NSString *workingString = [[NSString alloc]initWithFormat:@""]; NSString *searchedAirport = [[NSString alloc]initWithFormat:@""]; NSString *airportData = [[NSString alloc]initWithFormat:@""]; int d; for (d=0; d < [dataArray count]; d=d+1) { workingString = [dataArray objectAtIndex:d]; testTextBox = workingString; //works correctly NSArray *workingArray = [workingString componentsSeparatedByString:@","]; testTextBox2 = [workingArray objectAtIndex: 0]; //correctly displays the first section "6712" testTextBox3 = [workingArray objectAtIndex:1] //throws exception index beyond bounds locationOfAirport = [[workingArray objectAtIndex:5] rangeOfString:@"PAKP"]; } the problem is that when the workingArray populates, it only populates with a single object (the first component of the string which is "6712". If i have it display the workingString, it correctly displays the entire string, but for some reason, it isn't correctly making the array using the commas. i tried it without using the data file and it worked fine, so the problem comes from how I am importing the data. ideas?

  • How to make a custom NSFormatter work correctly on Snow Leopard?

    - by Nathan
    I have a custom NSFormatter attached to several NSTextFields who's only purpose is to uppercase the characters as they are typed into field. The entire code for my formatter is included below. The stringForObjectValue() and getObjectValue() implementations are no-ops and taken pretty much directly out of Apple's documentation. I'm using the isPartialStringValid() method to return an uppercase version of the string. This code works correctly in 10.4 and 10.5. When I run it on 10.6, I get "strange" behaviour where text fields aren't always render the characters that are typed and sometimes are just displaying garbage. I've tried enabling NSZombie detection and running under Instruments but nothing was reported. I see errors like the following in "Console": HIToolbox: ignoring exception '*** -[NSCFString replaceCharactersInRange:withString:]: Range or index out of bounds' that raised inside Carbon event dispatch ( 0 CoreFoundation 0x917ca58a __raiseError + 410 1 libobjc.A.dylib 0x94581f49 objc_exception_throw + 56 2 CoreFoundation 0x917ca2b8 +[NSException raise:format:arguments:] + 136 3 CoreFoundation 0x917ca22a +[NSException raise:format:] + 58 4 Foundation 0x9140f528 mutateError + 218 5 AppKit 0x9563803a -[NSCell textView:shouldChangeTextInRange:replacementString:] + 852 6 AppKit 0x95636cf1 -[NSTextView(NSSharing) shouldChangeTextInRanges:replacementStrings:] + 1276 7 AppKit 0x95635704 -[NSTextView insertText:replacementRange:] + 667 8 AppKit 0x956333bb -[NSTextInputContext handleTSMEvent:] + 2657 9 AppKit 0x95632949 _NSTSMEventHandler + 209 10 HIToolbox 0x93379129 _ZL23DispatchEventToHandlersP14EventTargetRecP14OpaqueEventRefP14HandlerCallRec + 1567 11 HIToolbox 0x933783f0 _ZL30SendEventToEventTargetInternalP14OpaqueEventRefP20OpaqueEventTargetRefP14HandlerCallRec + 411 12 HIToolbox 0x9339aa81 SendEventToEventTarget + 52 13 HIToolbox 0x933fc952 SendTSMEvent + 82 14 HIToolbox 0x933fc2cf SendUnicodeTextAEToUnicodeDoc + 700 15 HIToolbox 0x933fbed9 TSMKeyEvent + 998 16 HIToolbox 0x933ecede TSMProcessRawKeyEvent + 2515 17 AppKit 0x95632228 -[NSTextInputContext handleEvent:] + 1453 18 AppKit 0x9562e088 -[NSView interpretKeyEvents:] + 209 19 AppKit 0x95631b45 -[NSTextView keyDown:] + 751 20 AppKit 0x95563194 -[NSWindow sendEvent:] + 5757 21 AppKit 0x9547bceb -[NSApplication sendEvent:] + 6431 22 AppKit 0x9540f6fb -[NSApplication run] + 917 23 AppKit 0x95407735 NSApplicationMain + 574 24 macsetup 0x00001f9f main + 24 25 macsetup 0x00001b75 start + 53 ) Can anybody shed some light on what is happening?   • when an autoreleased object is actually released?

    - by psebos
    Hi, I am new in objective-c and I am trying to understand memory management to get it right. After reading the excellent Memory Management Programming Guide for Cocoa by apple my only concern is when actually an autoreleased object is released in an iphone/ipod application. My understanding is at the end of a run loop. But what defines a run loop in the application? So I was wondering whether the following piece of code is right. Assume an object @implementation Test - (NSString *) functionA { NSString *stringA; stringA = [[NSString alloc] initWithString:@"Hello" autorelease] return stringA; } - (NSString *) functionB { NSString *stringB; stringB = [self functionA]; return stringB; } - (NSString *) functionC { NSString *stringC; stringC = [self functionB]; return stringC; } - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; (NSString *) p = [self functionC]; NSLog(@"string is %@",p); } @end Is this code valid? From the apple text I understand that the NSString returned from functionA is valid in the scope of functionB. I am not sure whether it is valid in functionC and in viewDidLoad. Thanks!

  • Error with custom Class definition in protocol

    - by Greg
    I'm trying to set up a custom delegate protocol and am getting a strange error that I don't understand. I wonder if someone could point out what I'm doing wrong here (I'm still new to Ob-C and protocol use)... The situation is that I've built my own URLLoader class to manage loading and parsing data from the internet. I'm now trying to set up a protocol for delegates to implement that will respond to the URLLoader's events. So, below is my protocol... #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import "URLLoader.h" /** * Protocol for delegates that will respond to a load. */ @protocol URLLoadResponder <NSObject> - (void)loadDidComplete:(URLLoader *)loader; - (void)loadDidFail:(URLLoader *)loader withError:(NSString *)error; @end However, I'm getting the following error for both method signatures: Expected ')' before 'URLLoader' I feel like I must be overlooking something small and silly. Any help folks could offer would be greatly appreciated! Whoops ... it was pointed out that I should include URLLoader.h. Here it is: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import "URLLoadResponder.h" /** * URLLoader inferface. */ @interface URLLoader : NSObject { NSString *name; NSString *loadedData; NSMutableData *responseData; NSObject *delegate; BOOL _isLoaded; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *name; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *loadedData; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSObject *delegate; - (void)loadFromURL:(NSString *)url; - (void)addCompleteListener:(id)observer selector:(SEL)sel; - (void)removeCompleteListener:(id)observer; - (void)parseLoadedData:(NSString *)data; - (void)complete; - (void)close; - (BOOL)isLoaded; + (NSURL *)makeUrlWithString:(NSString *)url; + (URLLoader *)initWithName:(NSString *)name; @end

  • Functions as pointers in Objective-C

    - by richman0829
    This is a question from Learn Objective-C on the Mac... Functions as pointers What I typed in, as per the recipe, was: NSString *boolString (BOOL yesNo) { if (yesNo) { return (@"YES"); } else { return (@"NO"); } } // boolString The pointer asterisk in the first line doesn't seem necessary, yet deleting it results in an error message. But what does it do? In NSString * boolString (yesNo); what seems to be going on is a function is defined as a pointer to an NSString. The function without the asterisk NSLog (@"are %d and %d different? %@", 5, 5, boolString(areTheyDifferent)); returns an NSString of YES or NO. But how can it return an NSString when it's a pointer? It might return the ADDRESS of an NSString; or if dereferenced it could return the CONTENTS of that address (an NSString such as YES or NO). Yet I see no place where it is dereferenced.

  • Emailing HTML from within an iPhone app is stopping at special characters

    - by user141146
    Hi, I have an iPhone app that will let users email some pre-determined text as HTML. I'm having a problem in that if the text contains special characters within the text (e.g., ampersand &, , <), the NSString variable that I use for sending the body of the email gets truncated at the special character. I'm not sure how to fix this (I tried using the method stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding…but this hasn't fixed the problems). Thoughts on what I'm doing wrong / how to fix it? Here is sample code showing what I'm trying to do Thanks!!! - (void)send_an_email:(id)sender { NSString *subject_string = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Summary of %@", commercial_name]; NSString *body_string = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@<br /><br />", [self.dl email_message]]; // email_message returns the body of text that should be shipped as html.
